More people in need of care, more events\u2014and less energy with which to care for them.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t let your holidays be only \u201cexternal\u201d this year or let Christmas pass your own soul by. Grab these ideas to cherish, from the inside out, the newborn King.<\/p>\n<h2>25 ways to decorate &#8216;inside&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> Use discernment to say \u201cno\u201d to\u2014or delegate\u2014at least one activity so you can worship more rested and wholeheartedly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong> Set aside a few days after the holiday for your own private time to rest and be with God.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3<\/strong>. Read Isaiah 9:6, 11:2. Ask yourself: <i>How do I sense one of these identities of God right now\u2014and\/or my need for it?\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong> Set lower expectations in other areas: Go for that movie night with the kids.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> Schedule a laid-back date night for you and your spouse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6.<\/strong> Monitor your own stress levels. And ask for help!<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.<\/strong> Emphasize a morning routine that helps you engage with God in ways you love.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8.<\/strong> Creatively give gifts that respect your budget and minimize additional stress.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9.<\/strong> Unsubscribe from five email lists.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10.<\/strong> Have coffee with a friend who doesn\u2019t need anything from you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>11.<\/strong> Prioritize sleep and Sabbaths.<\/p>\n<p><strong>12.<\/strong> Read Luke 1:38. Ask yourself: <i>What emotions do these words stir in me? Enjoy being with God and thinking on the miracle of Jesus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14.<\/strong> Nap.<\/p>\n<p><strong>15.<\/strong> Create a running list of gifts from God to you and those you love this year\u2014ways He\u2019s reminded you you\u2019re written on His hands.<\/p>\n<p><strong>16. <\/strong>Read a book you <i>enjoy<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>17.<\/strong> Nurture your marriage by gifting your spouse an early stocking stuffer and restating your appreciation for them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18.<\/strong> Meditate on one name of God from the Christmas story or prophecies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>19.<\/strong> Allow someone to care for you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>20.<\/strong> Read Acts 10:38. Ask yourself: <i>What areas of my life hunger for God\u2019s goodness, healing, and freedom right now? Who do I know that needs these things this Christmas? <\/i>Spend time praying for yourself and for them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>21.<\/strong> Maintain an exercise routine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>22.<\/strong> Consider whether there\u2019s someone from whom you need to ask forgiveness\u2014or need to forgive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>23.<\/strong> Ask yourself: What character do you identify most with from the Christmas story this year?<\/p>\n<p><strong>24.<\/strong> Lean into the unique sensory cues that draw you closer to worship: lit candles, music, falling snow, a warm blanket, a Christmas treat, a particular scent, dinner with friends, reading a book with the kids. Let these pull you into thanks and worship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>25.<\/strong> Read Isaiah 9:6 (again). Ask yourself: What do I long to entrust to God\u2019s government right now, leaving on His shoulders?
