When I got saved, it kind of like slammed down to like 10 percent or less\u20145 percent. It\u2019s something where, before I was a Christian, it dominated my thought life; it dominated kind of everything I did\u2014sexuality did. Now, I rarely think about it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m happy to be single and celibate, like Paul and Jesus; because it\u2019s like I have eternal life! I have a relationship with the King of the universe. I have eternal life; I could live under a bridge for the rest of my life. I don\u2019t <em>care<\/em> because I have this incredible relationship. I never feel cheated out of something. People always ask me: \u201cIsn\u2019t it unfair that you have to be single for the rest of your life? Isn\u2019t it unfair that you can\u2019t be in a relationship?\u201d I\u2019m like, \u201cI\u2019m in a relationship with the most amazing Man I\u2019ve ever met! [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong> I love you. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Becket:<\/strong> \u201cWhat\u2019s unfair is Jesus had to beaten, crucified, and killed because of my sin\u2014that\u2019s unfair! I\u2019m like, \u201cMy life is like nothing but gravy now. I get to be with Jesus for the rest of my eternity!\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> When you read the evangelical voices that are saying that same-sex attraction and following Jesus are compatible, and we\u2019ve misunderstood the Bible all these years\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Becket:<\/strong> Look, the thing is\u2014people, since day one, for millennia\u2014have tried to justify sin in whatever way. Those people, who are saying that\u2014that you can be engaged in homosexual behavior and be a Christian\u2014they are\/I mean, for lack of a better word, they are deceived; it\u2019s a deception. It\u2019s so incompatible with, not just like the six kind of \u201cclobber\u201d passages in the Bible that deal with it directly, but with the whole story of God\u2019s\u2014God created sex. He created sex to be expressed, within this covenant that is safe and secure, between one man and one woman. There is a reason He did that; He knows what\u2019s good for us, and He knows how we flourish. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhenever we go outside that covenant, it is destruction. It\u2019s like unwanted pregnancies; it\u2019s STD\u2019s which, like for <em>years<\/em>, I was terrified of. I mean, praise God like I\u2014there were so many times I could have gotten HIV, but I didn\u2019t\u2014God protected me from that. Not only just the diseases and the pregnancies, but also the emotional scarring of multiple partners and all that stuff\u2014and being exposed to somebody, like spiritually, physically, emotionally, and then just being like cut off after one night or whatever\/one year. That has major\u2014it takes an emotional <em>toll<\/em> on a person. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe don\u2019t even like talk about that or recognize that. I mean, we\u2019re recognizing it in the Me Too movement. But it\u2019s like: \u201cOkay; there wouldn\u2019t be a Me Too movement if we actually lived in God\u2019s design for covenantal marriage; there would be <em>no<\/em> Me Too movement. There would be <em>no<\/em> diseases\u2014there would be <em>no<\/em> STD\u2019s\u2014at <em>all<\/em>. That\u2019s what is missing from the conversation. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> You know, for us, this is at the heart of what we\u2019re all about as a ministry\u2014practical biblical help and hope around marriage and family, trying to help people think: \u201cThis relationship\/these family relationships, our gender, our sexuality, how we interact with one another\u2014first in the home, in a covenant of marriage, and then beyond that in the broader culture\u2014this is God\u2019s purpose for us in life\u2014is to receive from Him the love He has for us and then to be gutters of that love into the lives of other people in a way that\u00a0 <em>reflects<\/em> the kind of love that He has.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019ve gone to preaching here, but it\u2019s\u2014what you\u2019re illustrating with your life and with the passion that you\u2019re expressing it is so close to the heart of what this ministry is all about\u2014that to be able to share your story with our listeners is a real privilege. It really is. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave:<\/strong> Oh, yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong> And when I listen to you, Becket, I think, \u201cYou are a 100 percent in.\u201d You didn\u2019t say, \u201cJesus, have half of my life\/have three-quarters of my life.\u201d You were all in. I think that, even for all of us as listeners, too, when we give Him everything\/when we step out on the water and we just say, \u201cI\u2019m Yours,\u201d that\u2019s when He really has a chance to work in our lives. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Becket:<\/strong> Yes; and the thing about obedience to God is it\u2019s such a joy to be obedient\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Becket:<\/strong> \u2014because before, as I said, living in a post-modern world, you don\u2019t know anything. You don\u2019t know what\u2019s good or bad. It\u2019s like, when your parents give you boundaries, it\u2019s loving; and it feels good as a child. Now that I understand the boundaries of life and of what God wants, I feel safe, and I feel loved by my Father. I have so much joy in obedience. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave:<\/strong> Oh, it\u2019s <em>obvious<\/em>. You can\u2014you <em>exude<\/em> it. [Laughter] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong> Yes; the Holy Spirit is like <em>alive<\/em> in you. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave:<\/strong> No kidding! Yes; I was thinking, you know it\u2019s funny that you asked your counselor, \u201cWhy am I here?\u201d He couldn\u2019t answer. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Becket:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave:<\/strong> And you just told us, and your book tells the world and every listener\u2014your story tells why you\u2019re here. It\u2019s one of the FamilyLife<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> and Cru<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> foundational statements: \u201cTo know Christ and to make Him known.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Becket:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave:<\/strong> And you just\u2014I mean, the passion of you talking about knowing Christ, and then you\u2019re living your life in a way to make Him known everywhere you go, whether it\u2019s on a set or on a radio broadcast\u2014wherever you go\u2014you\u2019re going to make Christ known; <em>that\u2019s<\/em> your purpose! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Becket:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave:<\/strong> And I hope every listener goes, \u201cIf I give Him everything, I\u2019ll know why I\u2019m here. I get to be with Jesus for the rest of my eternity!\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> When you read the evangelical voices that are saying that same-sex attraction and following Jesus are compatible, and we\u2019ve misunderstood the Bible all these years\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Becket:<\/strong> Look, the thing is\u2014people, since day one, for millennia\u2014have tried to justify sin in whatever way. Those people, who are saying that\u2014that you can be engaged in homosexual behavior and be a Christian\u2014they are\/I mean, for lack of a better word, they are deceived; it\u2019s a deception. It\u2019s so incompatible with, not just like the six kind of \u201cclobber\u201d passages in the Bible that deal with it directly, but with the whole story of God\u2019s\u2014God created sex. He created sex to be expressed, within this covenant that is safe and secure, between one man and one woman. There is a reason He did that; He knows what\u2019s good for us, and He knows how we flourish. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhenever we go outside that covenant, it is destruction. It\u2019s like unwanted pregnancies; it\u2019s STD\u2019s which, like for <em>years<\/em>, I was terrified of. I mean, praise God like I\u2014there were so many times I could have gotten HIV, but I didn\u2019t\u2014God protected me from that. Not only just the diseases and the pregnancies, but also the emotional scarring of multiple partners and all that stuff\u2014and being exposed to somebody, like spiritually, physically, emotionally, and then just being like cut off after one night or whatever\/one year. That has major\u2014it takes an emotional <em>toll<\/em> on a person. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe don\u2019t even like talk about that or recognize that. I mean, we\u2019re recognizing it in the Me Too movement. But it\u2019s like: \u201cOkay; there wouldn\u2019t be a Me Too movement if we actually lived in God\u2019s design for covenantal marriage; there would be <em>no<\/em> Me Too movement. There would be <em>no<\/em> diseases\u2014there would be <em>no<\/em> STD\u2019s\u2014at <em>all<\/em>. That\u2019s what is missing from the conversation. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> You know, for us, this is at the heart of what we\u2019re all about as a ministry\u2014practical biblical help and hope around marriage and family, trying to help people think: \u201cThis relationship\/these family relationships, our gender, our sexuality, how we interact with one another\u2014first in the home, in a covenant of marriage, and then beyond that in the broader culture\u2014this is God\u2019s purpose for us in life\u2014is to receive from Him the love He has for us and then to be gutters of that love into the lives of other people in a way that\u00a0 <em>reflects<\/em> the kind of love that He has.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019ve gone to preaching here, but it\u2019s\u2014what you\u2019re illustrating with your life and with the passion that you\u2019re expressing it is so close to the heart of what this ministry is all about\u2014that to be able to share your story with our listeners is a real privilege. It really is. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave:<\/strong> Oh, yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong> And when I listen to you, Becket, I think, \u201cYou are a 100 percent in.\u201d You didn\u2019t say, \u201cJesus, have half of my life\/have three-quarters of my life.\u201d You were all in. I think that, even for all of us as listeners, too, when we give Him everything\/when we step out on the water and we just say, \u201cI\u2019m Yours,\u201d that\u2019s when He really has a chance to work in our lives. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Becket:<\/strong> Yes; and the thing about obedience to God is it\u2019s such a joy to be obedient\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Becket:<\/strong> \u2014because before, as I said, living in a post-modern world, you don\u2019t know anything. You don\u2019t know what\u2019s good or bad. It\u2019s like, when your parents give you boundaries, it\u2019s loving; and it feels good as a child. Now that I understand the boundaries of life and of what God wants, I feel safe, and I feel loved by my Father. I have so much joy in obedience. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave:<\/strong> Oh, it\u2019s <em>obvious<\/em>. You can\u2014you <em>exude<\/em> it. [Laughter] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong> Yes; the Holy Spirit is like <em>alive<\/em> in you. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave:<\/strong> No kidding! Yes; I was thinking, you know it\u2019s funny that you asked your counselor, \u201cWhy am I here?\u201d He couldn\u2019t answer. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Becket:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave:<\/strong> And you just told us, and your book tells the world and every listener\u2014your story tells why you\u2019re here.
