Someone he had met\u2014a woman named Adrienne\u2014they started becoming good friends.\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> So we\u2019re hanging out; and then pretty soon, I start feeling this like: \u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d and \u201cI don\u2019t know if I can do this.\u201d We start: \u201cHey, I like you,\u201d \u201cI like you\u201d; but I started feeling guilty\u2014like, \u201cI can\u2019t do this.\u201d\u00a0 I just got, \u201cIt\u2019s been, you know, only a year-and-a-half. I just\u201d\u2014not that the time line matters; but to me, it\u2019s like\u2014\u201cIt\u2019s not very long.\u201d I sit there at the table, and I look at her; and I\u2019m getting ready to say that. What came out of my mouth was this: \u201cSo do you feel like you can marry me?\u201d [Laughter]\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> This is <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em> for Thursday, March 12<sup>th<\/sup>. We are going to hear from Jeremy Camp today about a surprising second love story in his life\u2014how, after the death of his wife, Melissa, he met someone new. Stay with us.\n\nAnd welcome to <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>. Thanks for joining us on the Thursday edition. We will go through events in our lives that will cause all of us to just pause and go: \u201cGod, are You there? Do You exist?\u201d I mean, the walk of faith is a walk to say: \u201cI am going to believe in God, even in the midst of trial and adversity.\u201d That\u2019s the theme we\u2019re going to hear about on today\u2019s program. It\u2019s at the center point of a new movie that we\u2019ve had a chance to see\u2014a movie that\u2019s opening in theatres this week called <em>I Still Believe<\/em>.\n\n<strong>Dave:<\/strong> Beautiful movie, because it\u2019s so <em>raw<\/em>. It walks you through the journey of faith. And faith is not something\u2014I mean, how many of us\u2014I know I\u2019ve thought this: \u201cYou give your life to Christ, He\u2019s going to make everything better. [Laughter]\n\n<strong>Ann:<\/strong> Yes.\n\n<strong>Dave:<\/strong> \u201cYes, there will be some dark days; but they won\u2019t be that dark because now I have the light of Christ in my life.\u201d\n\nAnd yet, there are times you go through the darkest dark; and this story is a walk through a dark valley\u2014\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes, yes.\n\n<strong>Dave:<\/strong> \u2014and yet faith is still there. <em>I Still Believe<\/em>\u2014it\u2019s\/it\u2019s inspiring.\n\n<strong>Ann:<\/strong> And every one of us will walk through a valley at some point in our lives that we wonder: \u201cGod are You there?\u201d\u00a0 \u201cDo You still answer prayers?\u201d\u00a0 I think it\u2019s okay to have those struggles; but in the end, I think, saying, \u201c<em>I still believe<\/em>,\u201d is foundational.\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And this is clearly a faith-based movie; it\u2019s a faith-based story.\n\n<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Right.\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> But you guys would be comfortable inviting people, who aren\u2019t church goers, to go see this movie with you.\n\n<strong>Dave:<\/strong> That was my first thought after watching it\u2014is: \u201cI want to take neighbors\u201d; \u201cI want to take friends\u201d; \u201cI want to take guys I play basketball with that don\u2019t go to church\/that would say they don\u2019t have faith.\u201d\u00a0 This would be a movie to take them to and then have a conversation; because it will open up a discussion about things that really, really matter.\n\n<strong>Ann: <\/strong>It\u2019s much like<em> I Can Only Imagine,<\/em> the other film that the Erwin Brothers produced. It\u2019s one of those that you <em>want<\/em> to invite neighbors and friends, that maybe have no faith, because it can generate a great discussion.\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And the quality of the film is the kind of quality that you can invite a friend to.\n\n<strong>Dave:<\/strong> Oh, yes.\n\n<strong>Ann:<\/strong> You\u2019re not embarrassed.\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> That\u2019s right.\n\nWell, Jeremys story\u2014which we\u2019ve been hearing this week from a conversation we had with him about four years ago\u2014his story is that he went to Bible college; he met there the woman who became his wife, Melissa. During the time that they were dating, she was diagnosed with cancer. God ultimately healed her of that cancer; and the doctors released her and said: \u201cShe\u2019s cancer-free. Of course, we want to continue to monitor it.\u201d\n\nThey got married, went on their honeymoon; she started having some health issues on the honeymoon that took them back to the doctor as soon as they got home. The cancer had reappeared. Ultimately, in spite of their best efforts to deal with it, the doctors weren\u2019t able to do it this time; and God did not bring a miracle the second time, in spite of many prayers for that.\n\nMelissa went home to be with the Lord. As Jeremy shares, that sent him into a little bit of a crisis of faith\/a little bit of a spiritual tail spin in his life.\n\n[Previous <em>FamilyLife Today <\/em>Broadcast]\n\n<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You titled your\u2014your book and the song\u2014\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Yes,\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u2014<em>I Still Believe<\/em>.\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Yes.\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Tell us about writing that in the midst of just reflecting on everything that you shared with us here.\n\n<strong>Jeremy: <\/strong>Yes, it was probably\u2014I can\u2019t\u2014it was two to three weeks after she went to be with the Lord. I was at home, and questions after questions. At this point, I started going: \u201cGod can I trust You?\u201d <em>I did!<\/em>\u2014I had those questions. I remember even taking my Bible, throwing it across the room when I was reading about Jesus healing and saying, \u201cIf you have faith,\u201d\u2014you know\u2014\u201cI will heal you.<em>\u201d \u201cI have faith!\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 I remember taking my Bible and saying, <em>\u201cI have faith\u201d<\/em>\u2014you know?\u2014and throwing it across the room and just\u2014 so all these questions.\n\nFinally, while I\u2019m sitting there at my parents\u2019 house in Indiana, and the Lord spoke to me and said, \u201cTake your guitar up.\u201d I kind of denied that for a little while; I was like, \u201c<em>No, no<\/em>.<em>\u201d <\/em>It\u2019s like, \u201cTake you guitar up\u201d; and after a while, it\u2019s kind of like, \"Take your guitar up.\u201d It\u2019s like I take my guitar up, and I started strumming. What came out was: \u201cOkay, I still believe in Your faithfulness. I still believe in your truth. I still believe in your Word. Even when I can\u2019t see, I still believe.\u201d I just started writing the lyrics about, and I wrote the song in ten minutes.\n\nI just wrote <em>exactly<\/em> how I was feeling\u2014starts off, just going: \u201cScattered words, empty thoughts seem to pour from my heart. Never seemed so torn before; seems I don\u2019t know where to start,\u201d\u2014all these real questions like David did. David, sometimes: \u201cGod, why are my enemies prospering?\u201d \u201cWhy are they coming against me?\u201d \u201cWhy?\u201d\u2014these questions\u2014but then there is resolve at the end of the question.\n\nIn the song, there is resolve at the end of my question. I said: \u201cGod, but I still believe in Your faithfulness; I still believe in Your truth; I still believe in Your word.\u201d And David always says, \u201cBut God, Your loving kindness endures forever.\u201d\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> That\u2019s the pattern of the Psalms over and over again.\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> \u2014over and over.\n\nAnd I really didn\u2019t <em>think<\/em> about it during that moment; but I realized, going back, going: \u201cOkay; it doesn\u2019t mean we can\u2019t have those\u2014those times, and those wrestles, and those battles\u2014that\u2019s part of it; but the resolve for me was saying that: \u201cBut I still trust you!\u201d\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Okay; play your song for us\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Yes; <em>I Still Believe<\/em>?\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes.\n\n[Jeremy singing <em>I Still Believe<\/em>] [Applause]\n\n<em>\u00a0<\/em>\n\n[Studio]\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> That\u2019s Jeremy camp singing the song, <em>I Still Believe. <\/em>That is the title song from the movie that releases this weekend in theatres. Once again, knowing the story\u2014that song is even more powerful to listen to; isn\u2019t it.\n\n<strong>Dave:<\/strong> Yes, not only has God given him a gift\u2014not only to write\u2014 but <em>wow<\/em>!\u2014that voice.\n\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\n<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes.\n\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\n<strong>Dave: <\/strong>But knowing the\u2014where that came from\u2014its almost like it was written right out of his heart\u2014\n\n<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes.\n\n<strong>Dave: <\/strong>\u2014the struggle we all experience, and he experienced. Yes, you can\u2019t listen without tears in your eyes; because you know the story.\n\n<strong>Ann: <\/strong>It makes me want to go back and listen to that again and again; especially when my sister passed away, it\u2019s like, \u201cOh, I needed that song right then.\u201d\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Right; well, this is not the end of the story for Jeremy. There is a \u201crest of the story\u201d that we get a chance to see hinted at in the movie. I asked Jeremy about how he met Adrienne, who would eventually become his second wife.\n\n[Previous <em>FamilyLife Today <\/em>Broadcast]\n\n<strong>Bob: <\/strong>We\u2019ve got just enough time left for you to jump ahead a couple of years in the story.\n\n<strong>Jeremy: <\/strong>Yes.\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> You were on tour and something awakened in your heart that you probably wondered if it would ever awaken again.\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Yes, absolutely. So here I am\u2014my first tour ever in the industry. I had my album just come out, and I was going on my first big tour. There are eight bands in this tour. I became friends with every band. I remember watching this, you know, all the bands. I would watch The Benjamin Gate\u2014was the band she was in. Here she was on the stage; and she\u2019s, literally, like rocking it out; I\u2019m going, <em>\u201c<\/em>Oh, that\u2019s interesting<em>.\u201d <\/em>[Laughter] So I\u2019m going, \u201cCool.\u201d\n\nHer merch table was near mine, so we would just hang out all day because I would talk to people coming up; and I\u2019d love just hanging out. So we just kind of became friends: \u201cHey, how are you?\u201d \u201cWhere are you from?\u201d \u201cYou know, I like long walks on the beach\u2026\u201d\u2014no, just kidding! [Laughter]\n\nShe was really <em>intrigued<\/em> with my story, because I would share from stage. She would literally ask me questions about Melissa and about her faith, because she was so intrigued at how strong she was; and watching me get up on stage, proclaiming God\u2019s goodness. We became really good friends. And both of us didn\u2019t even think anything at first; it wasn\u2019t like this connection of like: \u201cOooh!\u201d you know? [Laughter]\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> It wasn\u2019t like two weeks and your saying, \u201cI love you,\u201d was there?\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Yes, that\u2014no. [Laughter]\n\nSo I remember\u2014but I will say I have a fun moment that I will share with you. So we\u2019re hanging out. And then pretty soon, I start feeling this like: \u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d and \u201cI don\u2019t know if I can do this.\u201d We start: \u201cHey, I like you,\u201d \u201cI like you,\u201d\u2014you know, that whole same thing\u2014but I started feeling guilty\u2014like: \u201cI can\u2019t do this,\u201d and I just got, \u201cIts been only a year-and-a-half and I\u201d\u2014not that time lines matter; but to me, it\u2019s like\u2014\u201cIt\u2019s not very long.\u201d\n\nI took her out to Applebee\u2019s\u2014Adrienne\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Wow!\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Yes, exactly; it was pretty high rolling. [Laughter] So like that for me\u2014that was in Lafayette, Indiana\u2014I was like, \u201cYes, okay.\u201d [Laughter]\n\nI took her out; and I was going to tell her that: \u201cHey, we need to not do this,\u201d\u2014you know\u2014\u201cWe need to not hang out. I just don\u2019t feel comfortable.\u201d I sit there at the table; and I look at her, and I\u2019m getting ready to say that. What came out of my mouth was this: \u201cSo do you feel like you can marry me? [Laughter] She, right away, says, \u201cYes.\u201d I went: \u201cOkay; well, I came here to kind of break up with you; but um.\u201d [Laughter] I\u2019m not the smoothest guy. [Laughter]\n\nWords of advice\u2014I\u2019m not going to give you engagement advice with how to do it. But for me, it was that moment of going: \u201cWait a second. I\u2019m not going to play games.\u201d I\/my heart was saying; God was going, \u201cNo.\u201d I knew that: \u201cWait; if we are going to pursue this, then it has to be towards marriage. I\u2019m not going to play games. I\u2019ve been through stuff in my life. It\u2019s not just like, \u2018Hey, let\u2019s hang out.\u2019\u201d\n\nSo when she said that, I went, \u201cOkay\u201d; and we got engaged about six months later after that conversation. We hung out, and I got to know her. And it was just an amazing, amazing time because every time we would talk about the Lord\u2014it was this amazing just\u2014let\u2019s talk more about Jesus. And you know, her touring a lot and we are away from other people\u2014it\u2019s just having that deep connection of Christ, and that\u2019s what brought us together. So\u2014\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Can you do <em>There Will Be a Day<\/em>?\n\n<em>\u00a0<\/em>\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Yes! Alright; sweet [Laughter] For sure! [Strumming] Alright; oh my, it\u2019s been awhile. Hold on. [Laughter]\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Do you want me to show you? [Laughter]\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Hold on! [Laughter] You\u2019re like\u2014\u201cYes, would you play it for me please?\u201d [Laughter]\n\n<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes, yes.\n\n[Jeremy singing: <em>There Will Be a Day<\/em>]\n\n[Studio]\n\n<em>\u00a0<\/em>\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Well, again, that\u2019s Jeremey Camp; we\u2019ve been hearing his story this week\u2014a story that is coming to a theatre near you. We are hoping listeners will go see it.\n\n<strong>Dave:<\/strong> We\u2019re hoping thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, will go see it\u2014just like they did <em>I Can Only Imagine<\/em>\u2014and cause such a buzz that other people, that are not people of faith\/that don\u2019t go to church, would hear about this movie and go, \u201cWhat a story!\u201d It\u2019s going to send people on a\u2014on a similar journey of faith.\n\n<strong>Ann:<\/strong> And it reminds you how one life can impact the world. I think we often think: \u201cOh, does my life matter? Does what I <em>say<\/em> matter?\u201d But I look at what happened to this couple and look at how they are affecting the whole world and inspiring faith\u2014\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes.\n\n<strong>Ann: <\/strong>\u2014Melissa\u2019s life <em>mattered<\/em> and has impacted, not only thousands of others, but even bumped Adrienne into Jeremy.\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes; well, and think about the <em>millions<\/em> of people, whose lives are going to be impacted, as they go see the movie this weekend and it continues to show in theaters across the country. Someone he had met\u2014a woman named Adrienne\u2014they started becoming good friends.\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> So we\u2019re hanging out; and then pretty soon, I start feeling this like: \u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d and \u201cI don\u2019t know if I can do this.\u201d We start: \u201cHey, I like you,\u201d \u201cI like you\u201d; but I started feeling guilty\u2014like, \u201cI can\u2019t do this.\u201d\u00a0 I just got, \u201cIt\u2019s been, you know, only a year-and-a-half. I just\u201d\u2014not that the time line matters; but to me, it\u2019s like\u2014\u201cIt\u2019s not very long.\u201d I sit there at the table, and I look at her; and I\u2019m getting ready to say that. What came out of my mouth was this: \u201cSo do you feel like you can marry me?\u201d [Laughter]\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> This is <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em> for Thursday, March 12<sup>th<\/sup>. We are going to hear from Jeremy Camp today about a surprising second love story in his life\u2014how, after the death of his wife, Melissa, he met someone new. Stay with us.\n\nAnd welcome to <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>. Thanks for joining us on the Thursday edition. We will go through events in our lives that will cause all of us to just pause and go: \u201cGod, are You there? Do You exist?\u201d I mean, the walk of faith is a walk to say: \u201cI am going to believe in God, even in the midst of trial and adversity.\u201d That\u2019s the theme we\u2019re going to hear about on today\u2019s program. It\u2019s at the center point of a new movie that we\u2019ve had a chance to see\u2014a movie that\u2019s opening in theatres this week called <em>I Still Believe<\/em>.\n\n<strong>Dave:<\/strong> Beautiful movie, because it\u2019s so <em>raw<\/em>. It walks you through the journey of faith. And faith is not something\u2014I mean, how many of us\u2014I know I\u2019ve thought this: \u201cYou give your life to Christ, He\u2019s going to make everything better. [Laughter]\n\n<strong>Ann:<\/strong> Yes.\n\n<strong>Dave:<\/strong> \u201cYes, there will be some dark days; but they won\u2019t be that dark because now I have the light of Christ in my life.\u201d\n\nAnd yet, there are times you go through the darkest dark; and this story is a walk through a dark valley\u2014\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes, yes.\n\n<strong>Dave:<\/strong> \u2014and yet faith is still there. <em>I Still Believe<\/em>\u2014it\u2019s\/it\u2019s inspiring.\n\n<strong>Ann:<\/strong> And every one of us will walk through a valley at some point in our lives that we wonder: \u201cGod are You there?\u201d\u00a0 \u201cDo You still answer prayers?\u201d\u00a0 I think it\u2019s okay to have those struggles; but in the end, I think, saying, \u201c<em>I still believe<\/em>,\u201d is foundational.\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And this is clearly a faith-based movie; it\u2019s a faith-based story.\n\n<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Right.\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> But you guys would be comfortable inviting people, who aren\u2019t church goers, to go see this movie with you.\n\n<strong>Dave:<\/strong> That was my first thought after watching it\u2014is: \u201cI want to take neighbors\u201d; \u201cI want to take friends\u201d; \u201cI want to take guys I play basketball with that don\u2019t go to church\/that would say they don\u2019t have faith.\u201d\u00a0 This would be a movie to take them to and then have a conversation; because it will open up a discussion about things that really, really matter.\n\n<strong>Ann: <\/strong>It\u2019s much like<em> I Can Only Imagine,<\/em> the other film that the Erwin Brothers produced. It\u2019s one of those that you <em>want<\/em> to invite neighbors and friends, that maybe have no faith, because it can generate a great discussion.\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And the quality of the film is the kind of quality that you can invite a friend to.\n\n<strong>Dave:<\/strong> Oh, yes.\n\n<strong>Ann:<\/strong> You\u2019re not embarrassed.\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> That\u2019s right.\n\nWell, Jeremys story\u2014which we\u2019ve been hearing this week from a conversation we had with him about four years ago\u2014his story is that he went to Bible college; he met there the woman who became his wife, Melissa. During the time that they were dating, she was diagnosed with cancer. God ultimately healed her of that cancer; and the doctors released her and said: \u201cShe\u2019s cancer-free. Of course, we want to continue to monitor it.\u201d\n\nThey got married, went on their honeymoon; she started having some health issues on the honeymoon that took them back to the doctor as soon as they got home. The cancer had reappeared. Ultimately, in spite of their best efforts to deal with it, the doctors weren\u2019t able to do it this time; and God did not bring a miracle the second time, in spite of many prayers for that.\n\nMelissa went home to be with the Lord. As Jeremy shares, that sent him into a little bit of a crisis of faith\/a little bit of a spiritual tail spin in his life.\n\n[Previous <em>FamilyLife Today <\/em>Broadcast]\n\n<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You titled your\u2014your book and the song\u2014\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Yes,\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u2014<em>I Still Believe<\/em>.\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Yes.\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Tell us about writing that in the midst of just reflecting on everything that you shared with us here.\n\n<strong>Jeremy: <\/strong>Yes, it was probably\u2014I can\u2019t\u2014it was two to three weeks after she went to be with the Lord. I was at home, and questions after questions. At this point, I started going: \u201cGod can I trust You?\u201d <em>I did!<\/em>\u2014I had those questions. I remember even taking my Bible, throwing it across the room when I was reading about Jesus healing and saying, \u201cIf you have faith,\u201d\u2014you know\u2014\u201cI will heal you.<em>\u201d \u201cI have faith!\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 I remember taking my Bible and saying, <em>\u201cI have faith\u201d<\/em>\u2014you know?\u2014and throwing it across the room and just\u2014 so all these questions.\n\nFinally, while I\u2019m sitting there at my parents\u2019 house in Indiana, and the Lord spoke to me and said, \u201cTake your guitar up.\u201d I kind of denied that for a little while; I was like, \u201c<em>No, no<\/em>.<em>\u201d <\/em>It\u2019s like, \u201cTake you guitar up\u201d; and after a while, it\u2019s kind of like, \"Take your guitar up.\u201d It\u2019s like I take my guitar up, and I started strumming. What came out was: \u201cOkay, I still believe in Your faithfulness. I still believe in your truth. I still believe in your Word. Even when I can\u2019t see, I still believe.\u201d I just started writing the lyrics about, and I wrote the song in ten minutes.\n\nI just wrote <em>exactly<\/em> how I was feeling\u2014starts off, just going: \u201cScattered words, empty thoughts seem to pour from my heart. Never seemed so torn before; seems I don\u2019t know where to start,\u201d\u2014all these real questions like David did. David, sometimes: \u201cGod, why are my enemies prospering?\u201d \u201cWhy are they coming against me?\u201d \u201cWhy?\u201d\u2014these questions\u2014but then there is resolve at the end of the question.\n\nIn the song, there is resolve at the end of my question. I said: \u201cGod, but I still believe in Your faithfulness; I still believe in Your truth; I still believe in Your word.\u201d And David always says, \u201cBut God, Your loving kindness endures forever.\u201d\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> That\u2019s the pattern of the Psalms over and over again.\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> \u2014over and over.\n\nAnd I really didn\u2019t <em>think<\/em> about it during that moment; but I realized, going back, going: \u201cOkay; it doesn\u2019t mean we can\u2019t have those\u2014those times, and those wrestles, and those battles\u2014that\u2019s part of it; but the resolve for me was saying that: \u201cBut I still trust you!\u201d\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Okay; play your song for us\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Yes; <em>I Still Believe<\/em>?\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes.\n\n[Jeremy singing <em>I Still Believe<\/em>] [Applause]\n\n<em>\u00a0<\/em>\n\n[Studio]\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> That\u2019s Jeremy camp singing the song, <em>I Still Believe. <\/em>That is the title song from the movie that releases this weekend in theatres. Once again, knowing the story\u2014that song is even more powerful to listen to; isn\u2019t it.\n\n<strong>Dave:<\/strong> Yes, not only has God given him a gift\u2014not only to write\u2014 but <em>wow<\/em>!\u2014that voice.\n\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\n<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes.\n\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\n<strong>Dave: <\/strong>But knowing the\u2014where that came from\u2014its almost like it was written right out of his heart\u2014\n\n<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes.\n\n<strong>Dave: <\/strong>\u2014the struggle we all experience, and he experienced. Yes, you can\u2019t listen without tears in your eyes; because you know the story.\n\n<strong>Ann: <\/strong>It makes me want to go back and listen to that again and again; especially when my sister passed away, it\u2019s like, \u201cOh, I needed that song right then.\u201d\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Right; well, this is not the end of the story for Jeremy. There is a \u201crest of the story\u201d that we get a chance to see hinted at in the movie. I asked Jeremy about how he met Adrienne, who would eventually become his second wife.\n\n[Previous <em>FamilyLife Today <\/em>Broadcast]\n\n<strong>Bob: <\/strong>We\u2019ve got just enough time left for you to jump ahead a couple of years in the story.\n\n<strong>Jeremy: <\/strong>Yes.\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> You were on tour and something awakened in your heart that you probably wondered if it would ever awaken again.\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Yes, absolutely. So here I am\u2014my first tour ever in the industry. I had my album just come out, and I was going on my first big tour. There are eight bands in this tour. I became friends with every band. I remember watching this, you know, all the bands. I would watch The Benjamin Gate\u2014was the band she was in. Here she was on the stage; and she\u2019s, literally, like rocking it out; I\u2019m going, <em>\u201c<\/em>Oh, that\u2019s interesting<em>.\u201d <\/em>[Laughter] So I\u2019m going, \u201cCool.\u201d\n\nHer merch table was near mine, so we would just hang out all day because I would talk to people coming up; and I\u2019d love just hanging out. So we just kind of became friends: \u201cHey, how are you?\u201d \u201cWhere are you from?\u201d \u201cYou know, I like long walks on the beach\u2026\u201d\u2014no, just kidding! [Laughter]\n\nShe was really <em>intrigued<\/em> with my story, because I would share from stage. She would literally ask me questions about Melissa and about her faith, because she was so intrigued at how strong she was; and watching me get up on stage, proclaiming God\u2019s goodness. We became really good friends. And both of us didn\u2019t even think anything at first; it wasn\u2019t like this connection of like: \u201cOooh!\u201d you know? [Laughter]\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> It wasn\u2019t like two weeks and your saying, \u201cI love you,\u201d was there?\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Yes, that\u2014no. [Laughter]\n\nSo I remember\u2014but I will say I have a fun moment that I will share with you. So we\u2019re hanging out. And then pretty soon, I start feeling this like: \u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d and \u201cI don\u2019t know if I can do this.\u201d We start: \u201cHey, I like you,\u201d \u201cI like you,\u201d\u2014you know, that whole same thing\u2014but I started feeling guilty\u2014like: \u201cI can\u2019t do this,\u201d and I just got, \u201cIts been only a year-and-a-half and I\u201d\u2014not that time lines matter; but to me, it\u2019s like\u2014\u201cIt\u2019s not very long.\u201d\n\nI took her out to Applebee\u2019s\u2014Adrienne\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Wow!\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Yes, exactly; it was pretty high rolling. [Laughter] So like that for me\u2014that was in Lafayette, Indiana\u2014I was like, \u201cYes, okay.\u201d [Laughter]\n\nI took her out; and I was going to tell her that: \u201cHey, we need to not do this,\u201d\u2014you know\u2014\u201cWe need to not hang out. I just don\u2019t feel comfortable.\u201d I sit there at the table; and I look at her, and I\u2019m getting ready to say that. What came out of my mouth was this: \u201cSo do you feel like you can marry me? [Laughter] She, right away, says, \u201cYes.\u201d I went: \u201cOkay; well, I came here to kind of break up with you; but um.\u201d [Laughter] I\u2019m not the smoothest guy. [Laughter]\n\nWords of advice\u2014I\u2019m not going to give you engagement advice with how to do it. But for me, it was that moment of going: \u201cWait a second. I\u2019m not going to play games.\u201d I\/my heart was saying; God was going, \u201cNo.\u201d I knew that: \u201cWait; if we are going to pursue this, then it has to be towards marriage. I\u2019m not going to play games. I\u2019ve been through stuff in my life. It\u2019s not just like, \u2018Hey, let\u2019s hang out.\u2019\u201d\n\nSo when she said that, I went, \u201cOkay\u201d; and we got engaged about six months later after that conversation. We hung out, and I got to know her. And it was just an amazing, amazing time because every time we would talk about the Lord\u2014it was this amazing just\u2014let\u2019s talk more about Jesus. And you know, her touring a lot and we are away from other people\u2014it\u2019s just having that deep connection of Christ, and that\u2019s what brought us together. So\u2014\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Can you do <em>There Will Be a Day<\/em>?\n\n<em>\u00a0<\/em>\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Yes! Alright; sweet [Laughter] For sure! [Strumming] Alright; oh my, it\u2019s been awhile. Hold on. [Laughter]\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Do you want me to show you? [Laughter]\n\n<strong>Jeremy:<\/strong> Hold on! [Laughter] You\u2019re like\u2014\u201cYes, would you play it for me please?\u201d [Laughter]\n\n<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes, yes.\n\n[Jeremy singing: <em>There Will Be a Day<\/em>]\n\n[Studio]\n\n<em>\u00a0<\/em>\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Well, again, that\u2019s Jeremey Camp; we\u2019ve been hearing his story this week\u2014a story that is coming to a theatre near you. I think we often think: \u201cOh, does my life matter? Does what I <em>say<\/em> matter?\u201d But I look at what happened to this couple and look at how they are affecting the whole world and inspiring faith\u2014\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes.\n\n<strong>Ann: <\/strong>\u2014Melissa\u2019s life <em>mattered<\/em> and has impacted, not only thousands of others, but even bumped Adrienne into Jeremy.\n\n<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes; well, and think about the <em>millions<\/em> of people, whose lives are going to be impacted, as they go see the movie this weekend and it continues to show in theaters across the country.
