I think we tend to think that these big theological concepts are too big for children, and I don\u2019t think they are. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>This is <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em> for Monday, November 27<sup>th<\/sup>. How can we, as parents, take full advantage of the Christmas season to help our children understand Jesus better?\u00a0 We\u2019ll explore that today. Stay with us. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>1:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd welcome to <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>. Thanks for joining us on the Monday edition. So, I\u2019m still trying to figure out \u201cWhich is the day for the best deals?\u201d\u2014I mean, is it Black Friday?\u2014is it Cyber Monday?\u2014is it going to happen a week from now? You know, it\u2019s a little maddening. I did not get up\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>It\u2019s December 26<sup>th<\/sup>\u2014what do you mean?\u00a0 What\u2019s\u2014[Laughter]\u2014\u201cWhen is the best deal?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>2:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>That\u2019s a good point. That\u2019ll kind of make Christmas a little anticlimactic this year. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Just put a note in a package for Mary Ann that says, \u201cSweetheart, I\u2019m giving your gift\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u201cWe\u2019ll go shopping tomorrow.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014\u201cafter Christmas.\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I don\u2019t think\u2014I do not think that would go over well. In fact, let me tell you about what didn\u2019t go over well; okay? I decided that what I really needed last year was an upgraded iPad<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>. So, what I decided was\u2014I would\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Now, wait\u2014this is Christmas. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I know; I know. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>This is a time of gift-giving. So, you\u2019ve included yourself on the list?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I decided I would <em>gift<\/em> to my wife my iPad. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Oh, the used one!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Right; because\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Oh!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014mine was a better one than the one she had. So, she was going to get an upgrade, and I was going to get an upgrade. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>Right; not as good as the one you were getting. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>By the way, this is Tracy Lane, who is joining us on <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And Barbara\u2014Barbara, my wife, as well. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>And Barbara\u2019s here as well. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>We\u2019re eagerly anticipating the end of this story.\u00a0\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>3:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014and already beginning to feel what Mary Ann felt\u2014I promise you!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>I can\u2019t wait to hear. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I decided that I would take my old iPad; and I would clean it off \/ get it all ready for her. I would sync it up with her old data so that, when she opened it, it was ready to go; and I would put it in my new iPad box.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>Oh, that is bad!\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I wanted it to <em>feel<\/em> new, because it was <em>new<\/em> for her\u2014it was just a <em>used<\/em> new iPad. Then, the one I got was\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Was it identifiable, Bob?\u00a0 Did it have scratches on it?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Here is the point\u2014it did not go well when all the truth came out. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Was the screen broken?\u2014tell the truth!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>No, the screen was fine. [Laughter]\u00a0 And she\u2019s thrilled with the iPad. It was just the knowledge that she was getting the hand-me-down that did not make it the sweetest Christmas gift that I\u2019ve ever given her. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Was that the main gift for her that year?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Well, it\u2019s an <em>iPad<\/em>\u2014it\u2019s a nice gift!\u00a0 Yes; it was the <em>main<\/em> gift. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Bob, you help on <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>. [Laughter] You\u2019ve interviewed <em>experts<\/em> around the world on these things. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I was trying to be cost-efficient like\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>4:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014you know, we\u2019ve had people talk about\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>Cheap. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014how it\u2019s good to manage your money. I was trying to be\u2014[Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Did I hear \u201ccheap\u201d come out of your mouth?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I didn\u2019t say that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>Cheap. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Yes. [Laughter] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes; I was\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes; that\u2019s not the application I was thinking of, Bob. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014I was mistaken in what I did. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>As you were telling the story, I reflected back to something my mom did that I was a part of spoiling when I was a boy. Our house was a small house \/ a tiny house. It had a basement where we lived; and then, it had an upstairs that my brother claimed as his own. There was a closet right in the front door, and my mom hid a vacuum cleaner in the closet that was gifted to her\u2014she was gifting herself.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Like I did with the iPad. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Kind of like you did with the iPad\u2014to herself\u2014and I stumbled on it and found it; and she said: \u201cYou\u2019ve got to keep this a secret. Son, I\u2019m giving this to myself from your dad.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob: <\/strong>How old were you?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You know, I don\u2019t know. And she\u2019s no longer alive to tell the truth about this. [Laughter] So, I\u2019m going to say probably four\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>5:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Okay; alright. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014just a na\u00efve kid. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Still young and innocent. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes; so I heard my mom. Then, I don\u2019t know how I spilled the beans; but I told Dad\u2014I said, \u201cDad, there\u2019s a vacuum cleaner in the front hall closet that Mom\u2019s going to give to you on Christmas morning.\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter] I\u2019m ashamed to tell you\u2014that became kind of a family folklore. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes; well, a four-year-old keeping a secret\u2014that\u2019s a pretty good trick to pull off for anybody. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Yes; that\u2019s a tall order. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes, it really was; but what we\u2019re talking about here is Christmas being a time of gift-giving, celebration, and of really focusing in on Jesus Christ and what He came to do on the planet. What Barbara and Tracy have done is\u2014they\u2019re here to help moms <em>and<\/em> dads. Now, a lot of people think this is just for moms\u2014it\u2019s <em>not<\/em>. Dads need ways to connect with their children\u2019s hearts around these holidays with meaningful resources to point their kids to the real meaning of Christmas. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>6:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>And I think that\u2019s what we all want. I think there is a universal perception \/ a universal understanding\u2014even among people, who are not believers\u2014that Christmas has gotten away from its original meaning. The meaning is all about Christ\u2014we celebrate Christmas to celebrate Him\u2014we put up a Christmas tree \/ we buy gifts\u2014in honor of Him. We do all of these things because we <em>know<\/em> that Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem. We <em>know<\/em> that He has made a difference in our lives, and we celebrate as a way to make <em>much<\/em> of Him in our lives and in our homes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br>I think having something available that helps you connect with your kids\u2014having something that you can talk to them about or ornaments that you can put on your tree that are about Jesus\u2014helps moms and dads do what they <em>know<\/em> they want to do \/ what they <em>desire<\/em> to do\u2014but don\u2019t know how to do without some help. The ornaments that we\u2019ve been creating for the last five or six years, with Ever Thine Home<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>,are designed for that very purpose\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>7:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014to make your tree proclaim Jesus Christ\u2014but also to give you ways to interact\u2014as a mom or a dad \/ a mom and a dad, actually\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>\u2014with your kids around Christmas so that your Christmas is focused on Jesus. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Tracy, you have a young family. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>Yes; we have two daughters\u2014five and three are their ages. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>It can be a frustrating time if you don\u2019t have a plan; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>Right; because as you are talking, Barbara, I\u2019m thinking, \u201cThat\u2019s what we <em>want<\/em> to do.\u201d\u00a0 Then, I <em>forget<\/em>; because someone is crying, and someone needs milk, and someone\u2019s lunch needs packing; and I have to get them to a sitter so I can get to work\u2014and <em>all<\/em> of these other things that do need my attention, that are good things, come into play\u2014I mean, I have to feed my family dinner. \u201cWhen am I supposed to be telling them about Christmas?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>So, I <em>love<\/em> this; because it\u2019s something that we are <em>already<\/em> going to be doing\u2014of course, we\u2019re going to have a Christmas tree; of course, we\u2019re going to have a Christmas party; we\u2019re going to have some celebrations around this time\u2014but this gives me a hands-on way to remember \u201cWhy?\u201d and put it into practice, practically, in my home. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>8:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt doesn\u2019t take much, and I don\u2019t have much to give in that area; but it just puts it into our daily life\u2014that\u2019s something we can do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Well, and I think a lot of parents don\u2019t recognize that what you\u2019ve created is not just something that\u2019s an ornament. It\u2019s designed to be interactive\u2014it\u2019s designed so that it is more than just hang it on the tree and then we look at it and say, \u201cDoesn\u2019t that look pretty?\u201d\u00a0 You\u2019ve designed this to be something that parents can use as a tool. It\u2019s almost like a cross between a toy and an ornament mashed up together; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>That\u2019s a good description!\u00a0 I kind of like that\u2014[Laughter]\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>\u2014because most of the ornaments\u2014except for one set, which is on the slightly breakable side\u2014all of them are metal or wood; so they\u2019re not fragile. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe tend to think of Christmas ornaments\u2014because so many of them, through the years, have been blown-glass or some kind of glass something\u2014we tend to think of Christmas ornaments as fragile. A lot of us have ornaments that are fragile. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, there are the ornaments that the kids are allowed to touch and the ornaments that the kids can\u2019t touch; but these ornaments that we\u2019ve created are all kid-friendly. It helps our children understand and touch\u2014physically touch\u2014the importance of the holiday for them to put a really beautiful ornament on the tree that\u2019s all about Jesus. It allows them to connect, tactilely, with something that\u2019s important about the Christmas season. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOur first set of ornaments were seven names of Jesus that are associated with His birth. As you are hanging these ornaments on your tree, for instance, your two-year-old can hang up the ornament that says, \u201cPrince of Peace.\u201d\u00a0 You can ask your two-year-old to say\u2014\u201cSay, \u2018Prince of Peace.\u2019\u201d\u00a0 It would be cute and adorable however they manage to pronounce that; but that begins to help them understand, when they hang ornaments on the tree: \u201cThis is about Jesus, and I get to hang ornaments on our tree that are Jesus\u2019 names.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAs they get older \/ as they grow up, I would imagine Tracy\u2019s five-year-old can now pronounce a lot of these names. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe three-year-old may have a little more trouble. I just imagine that\u2014had I had these, when we were raising our kids, I would have <em>loved<\/em> the progression through the years of our kids learning, and knowing, and remembering lots and lots and lots of Jesus\u2019 names. It\u2019s a way for us to teach kids theology in a very simple way every Christmas. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>That\u2019s where I was going with it. It is one thing to learn to pronounce the name; then, it\u2019s another thing to begin to understand, \u201cWell, what does it mean that He is the Prince of Peace, and how does that relate to our family?\u00a0 How does that relate to the squabbles I get into with my sister or my brother and sibling rivalry?\u00a0 How did the Prince of Peace come to impact our lives?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Well, to the moms and dads, who would say, \u201cWell, I wouldn\u2019t know what to say about that,\u201d\u2014you\u2019ve included with these ornaments devotionals. They\u2019re not long\u2014\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>No. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014take a couple of minutes to read them, but it\u2019s the opportunity to engage. So, it\u2019s not just \u201cWe hung an ornament on a tree\u201d; but \u201cWe learned something about what that ornament signifies.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Exactly; so these are all designed so that, as you said a minute ago, Bob, they are interactive. You can hang the ornament on the tree; and as the ornaments are being hung, someone can be reading that corresponding story\u2014so that it\u2019s not just the kids learning, but it is moms and dads learning and being reminded of who Jesus is and what He came to do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Tracy: <\/strong>And the kids do learn it that way. It was really sweet in our home last Christmas. We hung the names, and we read the stories together. When we were packing away all the ornaments, the girls did not want to put away the Christmas names set. I\u2019m like, \u201cOh, come on, guys\u201d\u2014kind of getting frustrated, because it was this task on my list. Finally, I said, \u201cWhy don\u2019t you want to?\u201d\u00a0 And they start putting them on their arms as bracelets. I\u2019m thinking: \u201cOh my gosh! I\u2019m glad these aren\u2019t breakable, but these are our ornaments.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tMy five-year-old\u2014she was four last Christmas\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014she was able to say: \u201cI want Jesus to keep being with us. So, we\u2019re going to keep Him with us on our arms as bracelets.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>That is so cute! [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>That\u2019s cool. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>I love that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>So, they didn\u2019t get put away. They\u2019re actually, right now, in their dress-up clothes; and they wear them. If they\u2019re wearing anything very fancy, they\u2019re going to get out their Jesus names to put on as bracelets. They are understanding the significance and showing us, in these really sweet ways, how they\u2019re understanding it. It\u2019s fun to watch. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>I can see hanging them up in your kid\u2019s room too. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>I mean, I would have never thought of using them as a bracelet\u2014leave it to a little girl who is five, of course. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>That was not my idea either. [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>But I could see moms and dads letting your child hang his favorite name in their room as a reminder, all year long, that \u201cThis is the name of Jesus that I most resonate with \/ that I most identify with.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And this year, you\u2019ve created a brand-new set of three names around His eternal names. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>These are really fun because they\u2019re wood this year, not metal; but they are cut in the shape of a star. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>13:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tEach one of them has a name of Jesus that reminds us \/ teaches us that He has always existed. There never was a time when Jesus didn\u2019t exist. We tend to think of Him more like ourselves, because we know He was born. He came to earth, and we know He was born just like we were. We know He died, just like people die; but we forget sometimes, I think, that Jesus is eternal\u2014He\u2019s always existed. So, we have these three stars that have three of those names on them. One of them is where Jesus said, \u201cI am the <em>Alpha<\/em> and the <em>Omega<\/em>,\u201d\u2014which means beginning and end. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Hold on. I want to just stop for a second. How would a parent answer the question, \u201cWhat does it mean that Jesus is the <em>Alpha<\/em> and <em>Omega<\/em>?\u201d\u00a0 Think about that for a moment: \u201cHow do you explain eternity and pre-existence of Christ to a young child?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Well, I think is a great way to start; because at least, for little bitty kids, they can begin to learn that name. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThen, as they get older\u2014I don\u2019t know what you\u2019ll do with your girls this year, Tracy, but that will be fun to watch\u2014but I would think Audrey, at five, can begin to, at least, put the words in her brain that Jesus existed before He was born and He existed after He died and went back to heaven. Now, she\u2019s not going to get it, probably, much better than any of us get it; because I mean, how do you figure that out; right?\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>But at least, that concept is being planted in her mind; and it can be planted in the minds of children. I think sometimes we underestimate what kids can grasp. I think we tend to think that these big theological concepts are too big for children, and I don\u2019t think they are. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>The <em>Alpha<\/em> and the <em>Omega<\/em>\u2014the beginning and the end\u2014God created time \/ He was above time. He created it, though, for us to live our lives in the midst of. So, you can have some really healthy conversations about the greatness of our God that He is not\u2014He\u2019s not a man. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe\u2019re like Him, but He\u2019s <em>well beyond<\/em> us. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Yes; you\u2019ll never know\u2014I mean, until sometime down the road\u2014but as you have these conversations with your kids at Christmas, I would imagine beginning to help them understand that Jesus is eternal\u2014you never know\u2014a month or two down the road\u2014when that\u2019s going to pop up in a conversation; or you\u2019ll have a situation in your family\u2014maybe, a grandparent dies; and you can remind your children: \u201cRemember when we learned about Jesus?\u201d\u00a0 So, when Grandpa dies, you can talk about him being forever with Jesus because He had Christ in his heart. It just is a way to introduce, as we said a minute ago, theology into your kids\u2019 lives that you can then draw on throughout the rest of the year in everyday conversations. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>So, that is the <em>Alpha <\/em>and <em>Omega<\/em>. What are the other two?\u00a0 I interrupted you\u2014I\u2019m sorry, Sweetheart. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>That\u2019s okay. That happens; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>It does. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014but there are times\u2014there are times that we do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Yes, there are; but we\u2019ve learned how to work it out though, actually. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes; 45 years\u2014you begin to figure it out. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You start to get some tricks. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes; you learn a little bit. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Well, you don\u2019t just get tricks\u2014you also learn that it\u2019s okay. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Barbara: <\/strong>It\u2019s okay. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Another one of his eternal names is \u201cJesus is Eternal Father.\u201d\u00a0 That comes out of Isaiah 9:6, where Isaiah said, \u201cThere will be a son born, and his name will be Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, and Prince of Peace.\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019ve written about it in the little book that comes along with this. That\u2019s not an easy concept\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>No; in fact\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>\u2014but it\u2019s in the Scripture as His name. So, we\u2019ve got to look at it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014we spent time unpacking that, a couple of weeks ago, as we talked about some of these ornaments that you\u2019ve created. You\u2019re right\u2014Jesus is the Son \/ He is the Father. How do we get our arms around that?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>\u201cHow does that work?\u201d\u2014yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>There\u2019s help in the booklet to help, not just the kids understand it, but to help mom and dad understand it too. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You think?\u2014yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Exactly. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>17:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd I think it\u2019s good for us to be confused and to not understand. It reminds us that we are finite; that God is eternal \/ we need Him; and He knows what He\u2019s doing. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThen, the third one in this collection of three is where Jesus says in Revelation\u2014in one of the very last verses in the Bible\u2014He says, \u201cI am the Bright Morning Star.\u201d\u00a0 I love that one in particular just because I think the stars in the sky are magnificent \/ they\u2019re gorgeous. To think of Jesus being bright like a star\u2014of course, we know that a lot of the stars in the heavens are actually suns. So, when you think about the sun that\u2019s in our sky, you think about Jesus being bright like the sun\u2014like a star. I just think it\u2019s cool\u2014it\u2019s a cool analogy \/ it\u2019s a cool picture. I think that would be a fun one to teach children. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>We had an experience, last summer, on our vacation. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Barbara: <\/strong>We did. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Oh, we did!\u00a0 Want to tell them about that?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Do we have time?\u2014because I can talk for a long time about that. [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>18:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>It was quite an experience, but it\u2019s around this theme of Jesus being the Bright Morning Star. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You wound up in a field in Kentucky on\u2014what was it?\u2014was it a Monday?\u00a0 Was that what it was?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>It was Monday, August 21<sup>st<\/sup>. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Everybody remembers that was the day of the eclipse. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Right; as they called it \u201cThe Great American Eclipse\u201d\u2014but yes; we did. Since we were on vacation, we decided we would head down that way and just see what this was all about. Dennis and I both were very unprepared for how amazing the experience of seeing the total solar eclipse. It was <em>much<\/em> grander, it was much more glorious, it was much more exciting than\u2014than we imagined. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd what was so <em>fun<\/em> about it\u2014on the back side, after it was over\u2014was how much it helped us understand more about the Bible, because when we took our paper glasses off\u2014like you see in all of these pictures of people with those paper glasses on\u2014when we took the paper glasses off, what we saw in the sky was what could be defined as the glory of the sun; because it was the corona \/ it was the halo around the sun\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>19:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014it was all the rays that come off of the surface of the sun. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe next day, I thought: \u201cOh my gosh! Jesus is talked about as the sun.\u201d\u00a0 I got out my Bible, and I looked up all these verses. In Revelation, when John saw Jesus, when he was on the island of Patmos, he described Jesus and His face as shining like the sun. All of a sudden, I just had a <em>completely<\/em> different image of what that might be like\u2014to see Jesus\u2019 face shining like the sun, which I\u2019m sure reminded him of the transfiguration when he saw Jesus on the mount of transfiguration. He described Him, in that situation, the same way\u2014His face shown like the sun. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd we know that all the stars in the heaven above us are other suns in other galaxies. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>20:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt just broadened my appreciation \/ my perspective of who He is and how unimaginable is His glory\u2014how bright must be His light\u2014because Jesus is the light \/ God is the light. It made me so much more excited about seeing Him, because it was a <em>thrill<\/em> to see the total eclipse; but to see Jesus will be a thrill like\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>\u2014we can\u2019t even begin to imagine. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I promise you\u2014there is a longer version of this story\u2014[Laughter]\u2014there really is. What I want the listener to hear is\u2014what you\u2019re passing on here is pointing children to how to live life, because Jesus Christ is the life-giver. He shows us how to live life. He shows us how to get into heaven. He came on earth to die for our sins so that, if we trust in Him for His forgiveness of our sins, then, we might have eternal life with Him. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>21:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe\u2019ll see the Eternal Father, the <em>Alpha<\/em> and <em>Omega<\/em>, and the Bright Morning Star as He really is. <br><br>Bob, I think the thing that hit me in that field, watching that occur, was\u2014when Jesus Christ comes back, there are going to be a lot of people, looking up, just like they were\u2014those pictures that you saw, where people were looking up at the sky with those glasses on\u2014except this time, there won\u2019t be any glasses. So, I\u2019m still trying to figure out \u201cWhich is the day for the best deals?\u201d\u2014I mean, is it Black Friday?\u2014is it Cyber Monday?\u2014is it going to happen a week from now? You know, it\u2019s a little maddening. I did not get up\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>It\u2019s December 26<sup>th<\/sup>\u2014what do you mean?\u00a0 What\u2019s\u2014[Laughter]\u2014\u201cWhen is the best deal?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>2:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>That\u2019s a good point. That\u2019ll kind of make Christmas a little anticlimactic this year. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Just put a note in a package for Mary Ann that says, \u201cSweetheart, I\u2019m giving your gift\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u201cWe\u2019ll go shopping tomorrow.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014\u201cafter Christmas.\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I don\u2019t think\u2014I do not think that would go over well. In fact, let me tell you about what didn\u2019t go over well; okay? I decided that what I really needed last year was an upgraded iPad<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>. So, what I decided was\u2014I would\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Now, wait\u2014this is Christmas. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I know; I know. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>This is a time of gift-giving. So, you\u2019ve included yourself on the list?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I decided I would <em>gift<\/em> to my wife my iPad. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Oh, the used one!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Right; because\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Oh!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014mine was a better one than the one she had. So, she was going to get an upgrade, and I was going to get an upgrade. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>Right; not as good as the one you were getting. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>By the way, this is Tracy Lane, who is joining us on <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And Barbara\u2014Barbara, my wife, as well. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>And Barbara\u2019s here as well. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>We\u2019re eagerly anticipating the end of this story.\u00a0\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>3:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014and already beginning to feel what Mary Ann felt\u2014I promise you!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>I can\u2019t wait to hear. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I decided that I would take my old iPad; and I would clean it off \/ get it all ready for her. I would sync it up with her old data so that, when she opened it, it was ready to go; and I would put it in my new iPad box.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>Oh, that is bad!\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I wanted it to <em>feel<\/em> new, because it was <em>new<\/em> for her\u2014it was just a <em>used<\/em> new iPad. Then, the one I got was\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Was it identifiable, Bob?\u00a0 Did it have scratches on it?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Here is the point\u2014it did not go well when all the truth came out. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Was the screen broken?\u2014tell the truth!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>No, the screen was fine. [Laughter]\u00a0 And she\u2019s thrilled with the iPad. It was just the knowledge that she was getting the hand-me-down that did not make it the sweetest Christmas gift that I\u2019ve ever given her. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Was that the main gift for her that year?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Well, it\u2019s an <em>iPad<\/em>\u2014it\u2019s a nice gift!\u00a0 Yes; it was the <em>main<\/em> gift. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Bob, you help on <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>. [Laughter] You\u2019ve interviewed <em>experts<\/em> around the world on these things. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I was trying to be cost-efficient like\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>4:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014you know, we\u2019ve had people talk about\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>Cheap. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014how it\u2019s good to manage your money. I was trying to be\u2014[Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Did I hear \u201ccheap\u201d come out of your mouth?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I didn\u2019t say that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>Cheap. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Yes. [Laughter] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes; I was\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes; that\u2019s not the application I was thinking of, Bob. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014I was mistaken in what I did. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>As you were telling the story, I reflected back to something my mom did that I was a part of spoiling when I was a boy. Our house was a small house \/ a tiny house. It had a basement where we lived; and then, it had an upstairs that my brother claimed as his own. There was a closet right in the front door, and my mom hid a vacuum cleaner in the closet that was gifted to her\u2014she was gifting herself.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Like I did with the iPad. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Kind of like you did with the iPad\u2014to herself\u2014and I stumbled on it and found it; and she said: \u201cYou\u2019ve got to keep this a secret. Son, I\u2019m giving this to myself from your dad.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob: <\/strong>How old were you?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You know, I don\u2019t know. And she\u2019s no longer alive to tell the truth about this. [Laughter] So, I\u2019m going to say probably four\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>5:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Okay; alright. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014just a na\u00efve kid. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Still young and innocent. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes; so I heard my mom. Then, I don\u2019t know how I spilled the beans; but I told Dad\u2014I said, \u201cDad, there\u2019s a vacuum cleaner in the front hall closet that Mom\u2019s going to give to you on Christmas morning.\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter] I\u2019m ashamed to tell you\u2014that became kind of a family folklore. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes; well, a four-year-old keeping a secret\u2014that\u2019s a pretty good trick to pull off for anybody. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Yes; that\u2019s a tall order. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes, it really was; but what we\u2019re talking about here is Christmas being a time of gift-giving, celebration, and of really focusing in on Jesus Christ and what He came to do on the planet. What Barbara and Tracy have done is\u2014they\u2019re here to help moms <em>and<\/em> dads. Now, a lot of people think this is just for moms\u2014it\u2019s <em>not<\/em>. Dads need ways to connect with their children\u2019s hearts around these holidays with meaningful resources to point their kids to the real meaning of Christmas. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>6:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>And I think that\u2019s what we all want. I think there is a universal perception \/ a universal understanding\u2014even among people, who are not believers\u2014that Christmas has gotten away from its original meaning. The meaning is all about Christ\u2014we celebrate Christmas to celebrate Him\u2014we put up a Christmas tree \/ we buy gifts\u2014in honor of Him. We do all of these things because we <em>know<\/em> that Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem. We <em>know<\/em> that He has made a difference in our lives, and we celebrate as a way to make <em>much<\/em> of Him in our lives and in our homes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br>I think having something available that helps you connect with your kids\u2014having something that you can talk to them about or ornaments that you can put on your tree that are about Jesus\u2014helps moms and dads do what they <em>know<\/em> they want to do \/ what they <em>desire<\/em> to do\u2014but don\u2019t know how to do without some help. The ornaments that we\u2019ve been creating for the last five or six years, with Ever Thine Home<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>,are designed for that very purpose\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>7:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014to make your tree proclaim Jesus Christ\u2014but also to give you ways to interact\u2014as a mom or a dad \/ a mom and a dad, actually\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>\u2014with your kids around Christmas so that your Christmas is focused on Jesus. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Tracy, you have a young family. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>Yes; we have two daughters\u2014five and three are their ages. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>It can be a frustrating time if you don\u2019t have a plan; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>Right; because as you are talking, Barbara, I\u2019m thinking, \u201cThat\u2019s what we <em>want<\/em> to do.\u201d\u00a0 Then, I <em>forget<\/em>; because someone is crying, and someone needs milk, and someone\u2019s lunch needs packing; and I have to get them to a sitter so I can get to work\u2014and <em>all<\/em> of these other things that do need my attention, that are good things, come into play\u2014I mean, I have to feed my family dinner. \u201cWhen am I supposed to be telling them about Christmas?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>So, I <em>love<\/em> this; because it\u2019s something that we are <em>already<\/em> going to be doing\u2014of course, we\u2019re going to have a Christmas tree; of course, we\u2019re going to have a Christmas party; we\u2019re going to have some celebrations around this time\u2014but this gives me a hands-on way to remember \u201cWhy?\u201d and put it into practice, practically, in my home. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>8:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt doesn\u2019t take much, and I don\u2019t have much to give in that area; but it just puts it into our daily life\u2014that\u2019s something we can do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Well, and I think a lot of parents don\u2019t recognize that what you\u2019ve created is not just something that\u2019s an ornament. It\u2019s designed to be interactive\u2014it\u2019s designed so that it is more than just hang it on the tree and then we look at it and say, \u201cDoesn\u2019t that look pretty?\u201d\u00a0 You\u2019ve designed this to be something that parents can use as a tool. It\u2019s almost like a cross between a toy and an ornament mashed up together; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>That\u2019s a good description!\u00a0 I kind of like that\u2014[Laughter]\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>\u2014because most of the ornaments\u2014except for one set, which is on the slightly breakable side\u2014all of them are metal or wood; so they\u2019re not fragile. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe tend to think of Christmas ornaments\u2014because so many of them, through the years, have been blown-glass or some kind of glass something\u2014we tend to think of Christmas ornaments as fragile. A lot of us have ornaments that are fragile. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, there are the ornaments that the kids are allowed to touch and the ornaments that the kids can\u2019t touch; but these ornaments that we\u2019ve created are all kid-friendly. It helps our children understand and touch\u2014physically touch\u2014the importance of the holiday for them to put a really beautiful ornament on the tree that\u2019s all about Jesus. It allows them to connect, tactilely, with something that\u2019s important about the Christmas season. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOur first set of ornaments were seven names of Jesus that are associated with His birth. As you are hanging these ornaments on your tree, for instance, your two-year-old can hang up the ornament that says, \u201cPrince of Peace.\u201d\u00a0 You can ask your two-year-old to say\u2014\u201cSay, \u2018Prince of Peace.\u2019\u201d\u00a0 It would be cute and adorable however they manage to pronounce that; but that begins to help them understand, when they hang ornaments on the tree: \u201cThis is about Jesus, and I get to hang ornaments on our tree that are Jesus\u2019 names.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAs they get older \/ as they grow up, I would imagine Tracy\u2019s five-year-old can now pronounce a lot of these names. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe three-year-old may have a little more trouble. I just imagine that\u2014had I had these, when we were raising our kids, I would have <em>loved<\/em> the progression through the years of our kids learning, and knowing, and remembering lots and lots and lots of Jesus\u2019 names. It\u2019s a way for us to teach kids theology in a very simple way every Christmas. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>That\u2019s where I was going with it. It is one thing to learn to pronounce the name; then, it\u2019s another thing to begin to understand, \u201cWell, what does it mean that He is the Prince of Peace, and how does that relate to our family?\u00a0 How does that relate to the squabbles I get into with my sister or my brother and sibling rivalry?\u00a0 How did the Prince of Peace come to impact our lives?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Well, to the moms and dads, who would say, \u201cWell, I wouldn\u2019t know what to say about that,\u201d\u2014you\u2019ve included with these ornaments devotionals. They\u2019re not long\u2014\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>No. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014take a couple of minutes to read them, but it\u2019s the opportunity to engage. So, it\u2019s not just \u201cWe hung an ornament on a tree\u201d; but \u201cWe learned something about what that ornament signifies.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Exactly; so these are all designed so that, as you said a minute ago, Bob, they are interactive. You can hang the ornament on the tree; and as the ornaments are being hung, someone can be reading that corresponding story\u2014so that it\u2019s not just the kids learning, but it is moms and dads learning and being reminded of who Jesus is and what He came to do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Tracy: <\/strong>And the kids do learn it that way. It was really sweet in our home last Christmas. We hung the names, and we read the stories together. When we were packing away all the ornaments, the girls did not want to put away the Christmas names set. I\u2019m like, \u201cOh, come on, guys\u201d\u2014kind of getting frustrated, because it was this task on my list. Finally, I said, \u201cWhy don\u2019t you want to?\u201d\u00a0 And they start putting them on their arms as bracelets. I\u2019m thinking: \u201cOh my gosh! I\u2019m glad these aren\u2019t breakable, but these are our ornaments.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tMy five-year-old\u2014she was four last Christmas\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014she was able to say: \u201cI want Jesus to keep being with us. So, we\u2019re going to keep Him with us on our arms as bracelets.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>That is so cute! [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>That\u2019s cool. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>I love that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>So, they didn\u2019t get put away. They\u2019re actually, right now, in their dress-up clothes; and they wear them. If they\u2019re wearing anything very fancy, they\u2019re going to get out their Jesus names to put on as bracelets. They are understanding the significance and showing us, in these really sweet ways, how they\u2019re understanding it. It\u2019s fun to watch. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>I can see hanging them up in your kid\u2019s room too. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>I mean, I would have never thought of using them as a bracelet\u2014leave it to a little girl who is five, of course. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Tracy: <\/strong>That was not my idea either. [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>But I could see moms and dads letting your child hang his favorite name in their room as a reminder, all year long, that \u201cThis is the name of Jesus that I most resonate with \/ that I most identify with.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And this year, you\u2019ve created a brand-new set of three names around His eternal names. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>These are really fun because they\u2019re wood this year, not metal; but they are cut in the shape of a star. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>13:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tEach one of them has a name of Jesus that reminds us \/ teaches us that He has always existed. There never was a time when Jesus didn\u2019t exist. We tend to think of Him more like ourselves, because we know He was born. He came to earth, and we know He was born just like we were. We know He died, just like people die; but we forget sometimes, I think, that Jesus is eternal\u2014He\u2019s always existed. So, we have these three stars that have three of those names on them. One of them is where Jesus said, \u201cI am the <em>Alpha<\/em> and the <em>Omega<\/em>,\u201d\u2014which means beginning and end. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Hold on. I want to just stop for a second. How would a parent answer the question, \u201cWhat does it mean that Jesus is the <em>Alpha<\/em> and <em>Omega<\/em>?\u201d\u00a0 Think about that for a moment: \u201cHow do you explain eternity and pre-existence of Christ to a young child?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Well, I think is a great way to start; because at least, for little bitty kids, they can begin to learn that name. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThen, as they get older\u2014I don\u2019t know what you\u2019ll do with your girls this year, Tracy, but that will be fun to watch\u2014but I would think Audrey, at five, can begin to, at least, put the words in her brain that Jesus existed before He was born and He existed after He died and went back to heaven. Now, she\u2019s not going to get it, probably, much better than any of us get it; because I mean, how do you figure that out; right?\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>But at least, that concept is being planted in her mind; and it can be planted in the minds of children. I think sometimes we underestimate what kids can grasp. I think we tend to think that these big theological concepts are too big for children, and I don\u2019t think they are. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>The <em>Alpha<\/em> and the <em>Omega<\/em>\u2014the beginning and the end\u2014God created time \/ He was above time. He created it, though, for us to live our lives in the midst of. So, you can have some really healthy conversations about the greatness of our God that He is not\u2014He\u2019s not a man. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe\u2019re like Him, but He\u2019s <em>well beyond<\/em> us. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Yes; you\u2019ll never know\u2014I mean, until sometime down the road\u2014but as you have these conversations with your kids at Christmas, I would imagine beginning to help them understand that Jesus is eternal\u2014you never know\u2014a month or two down the road\u2014when that\u2019s going to pop up in a conversation; or you\u2019ll have a situation in your family\u2014maybe, a grandparent dies; and you can remind your children: \u201cRemember when we learned about Jesus?\u201d\u00a0 So, when Grandpa dies, you can talk about him being forever with Jesus because He had Christ in his heart. It just is a way to introduce, as we said a minute ago, theology into your kids\u2019 lives that you can then draw on throughout the rest of the year in everyday conversations. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>So, that is the <em>Alpha <\/em>and <em>Omega<\/em>. What are the other two?\u00a0 I interrupted you\u2014I\u2019m sorry, Sweetheart. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>That\u2019s okay. That happens; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>It does. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014but there are times\u2014there are times that we do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Yes, there are; but we\u2019ve learned how to work it out though, actually. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes; 45 years\u2014you begin to figure it out. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You start to get some tricks. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes; you learn a little bit. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Well, you don\u2019t just get tricks\u2014you also learn that it\u2019s okay. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Barbara: <\/strong>It\u2019s okay. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Another one of his eternal names is \u201cJesus is Eternal Father.\u201d\u00a0 That comes out of Isaiah 9:6, where Isaiah said, \u201cThere will be a son born, and his name will be Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, and Prince of Peace.\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019ve written about it in the little book that comes along with this. That\u2019s not an easy concept\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>No; in fact\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>\u2014but it\u2019s in the Scripture as His name. So, we\u2019ve got to look at it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014we spent time unpacking that, a couple of weeks ago, as we talked about some of these ornaments that you\u2019ve created. You\u2019re right\u2014Jesus is the Son \/ He is the Father. How do we get our arms around that?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>\u201cHow does that work?\u201d\u2014yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>There\u2019s help in the booklet to help, not just the kids understand it, but to help mom and dad understand it too. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You think?\u2014yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Exactly. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>17:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd I think it\u2019s good for us to be confused and to not understand. It reminds us that we are finite; that God is eternal \/ we need Him; and He knows what He\u2019s doing. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThen, the third one in this collection of three is where Jesus says in Revelation\u2014in one of the very last verses in the Bible\u2014He says, \u201cI am the Bright Morning Star.\u201d\u00a0 I love that one in particular just because I think the stars in the sky are magnificent \/ they\u2019re gorgeous. To think of Jesus being bright like a star\u2014of course, we know that a lot of the stars in the heavens are actually suns. So, when you think about the sun that\u2019s in our sky, you think about Jesus being bright like the sun\u2014like a star. I just think it\u2019s cool\u2014it\u2019s a cool analogy \/ it\u2019s a cool picture. I think that would be a fun one to teach children. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>We had an experience, last summer, on our vacation. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Barbara: <\/strong>We did. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Oh, we did!\u00a0 Want to tell them about that?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Do we have time?\u2014because I can talk for a long time about that. [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>18:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>It was quite an experience, but it\u2019s around this theme of Jesus being the Bright Morning Star. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You wound up in a field in Kentucky on\u2014what was it?\u2014was it a Monday?\u00a0 Was that what it was?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>It was Monday, August 21<sup>st<\/sup>. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Everybody remembers that was the day of the eclipse. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>Right; as they called it \u201cThe Great American Eclipse\u201d\u2014but yes; we did. Since we were on vacation, we decided we would head down that way and just see what this was all about. Dennis and I both were very unprepared for how amazing the experience of seeing the total solar eclipse. It was <em>much<\/em> grander, it was much more glorious, it was much more exciting than\u2014than we imagined. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd what was so <em>fun<\/em> about it\u2014on the back side, after it was over\u2014was how much it helped us understand more about the Bible, because when we took our paper glasses off\u2014like you see in all of these pictures of people with those paper glasses on\u2014when we took the paper glasses off, what we saw in the sky was what could be defined as the glory of the sun; because it was the corona \/ it was the halo around the sun\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>19:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014it was all the rays that come off of the surface of the sun. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe next day, I thought: \u201cOh my gosh! Jesus is talked about as the sun.\u201d\u00a0 I got out my Bible, and I looked up all these verses. In Revelation, when John saw Jesus, when he was on the island of Patmos, he described Jesus and His face as shining like the sun. All of a sudden, I just had a <em>completely<\/em> different image of what that might be like\u2014to see Jesus\u2019 face shining like the sun, which I\u2019m sure reminded him of the transfiguration when he saw Jesus on the mount of transfiguration. He described Him, in that situation, the same way\u2014His face shown like the sun. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd we know that all the stars in the heaven above us are other suns in other galaxies. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>20:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt just broadened my appreciation \/ my perspective of who He is and how unimaginable is His glory\u2014how bright must be His light\u2014because Jesus is the light \/ God is the light. It made me so much more excited about seeing Him, because it was a <em>thrill<\/em> to see the total eclipse; but to see Jesus will be a thrill like\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara: <\/strong>\u2014we can\u2019t even begin to imagine. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I promise you\u2014there is a longer version of this story\u2014[Laughter]\u2014there really is. What I want the listener to hear is\u2014what you\u2019re passing on here is pointing children to how to live life, because Jesus Christ is the life-giver. He shows us how to live life. He shows us how to get into heaven. He came on earth to die for our sins so that, if we trust in Him for His forgiveness of our sins, then, we might have eternal life with Him. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>21:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe\u2019ll see the Eternal Father, the <em>Alpha<\/em> and <em>Omega<\/em>, and the Bright Morning Star as He really is. <br><br>Bob, I think the thing that hit me in that field, watching that occur, was\u2014when Jesus Christ comes back, there are going to be a lot of people, looking up, just like they were\u2014those pictures that you saw, where people were looking up at the sky with those glasses on\u2014except this time, there won\u2019t be any glasses. You\u2019re going to see Him as He is; and it is understated to say: \u201cIt will be breathtaking. It will be a glorious moment.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes; I think, in the midst of all that is going on during this time of the year, with gifts to buy, and decorations, and events that are going on\u2014I think the big message of today\u2019s program is: \u201cLet\u2019s make sure we don\u2019t lose sight, over the next four weeks, of what this season is all about. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>22:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cThis is all about celebrating the greatest gift that was ever given to any people\u2014the gift of eternal life\u2014given to us by God through His Son.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br>One of the ways we can keep our focus there is by having our home reflect that back to us.
