Then, he did something very unusual. He introduced her to the catering manager at the hotel where he had popped the question. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Amanda: <\/strong>And he said: \u201cThis is Ozzie. I\u2019ve been talking to him for a while. You said that you wanted to get engaged and married on the same day; but there\u2019s one thing that you\u2019d really need to hear in order to do that.\u201d\u00a0 And he kind of gives a little head nod to Ozzie. Ozzie opens the two double doors, and a hundred of my family and friends are standing there\u2014they all yelled, \u201cTODAY!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>This is <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em> for Wednesday, November 2<sup>nd<\/sup>. So, what\u2019s it like to say, \u201cYes,\u201d to a proposal and then, \u201cI do,\u201d to your new husband all in a period of 10 or 11 hours? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>1:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe\u2019ll hear Ryan and Amanda Leaks\u2019 story today. Stay with us. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd welcome to <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>. Thanks for joining us. I have talked to people who have gotten engaged before and said, \u201cDid you have any hint that the question was going to be asked at this event or at this time?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou [Dennis] just had this happen with the last of your children\u2014your unmarried daughter. She had a young man who popped the question with her; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Thirty-one years of age\u2014she took a walk on the beach. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Did she have any idea that\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Nope. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014this season was\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>No. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014that this might be the time?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>No. She was clueless about all that was going on behind the scenes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>2:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Even with the photographer hiding over in the sea grass?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Oh, that guy\u2014that guy was\u2014he was perfect \/ he was professional. [Laughter]\u00a0 She never knew anything was happening. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe have a couple who\u2014well, I don\u2019t know that I\u2019ve ever heard of anybody doing what they\u2019ve done. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>It is one thing to be surprised about getting engaged.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>The proposal\u2014that\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>It\u2019s another thing to be surprised about your wedding. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And if you haven\u2019t listened to this week\u2019s broadcasts on this story, you, maybe, ought to hit the pause button on your app\u2014the FamilyLife app\u2014or the station you are listening to and go back and listen to the previous two broadcasts. Well, I\u2019m giving away too much here. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tLet me just introduce our listeners to Ryan and Amanda Leak. They\u2019ve written a book called <em>The One: An Amazing Love Story Starts with You<\/em>. They are both employed by Covenant Church, which is in the Dallas \/ Ft. Worth area. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>3:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd I\u2019m going to begin with you, Amanda. This whole idea, actually, came from you originally\u2014just an offhanded comment you made to a friend. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>It did. It did. I was talking to a friend one day. She happened to be a wedding planner, herself; and she was telling me about how awful it actually is to plan a wedding, and how much goes into it, and how stressed out the bride is, and [the bride saying] \u201cI picked peonies, and there are roses!\u201d\u00a0 It goes on and on and on. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tShe\u2019s telling me all this, and we were at Ryan\u2019s house. It was a summer day. He was in the kitchen, cooking something; and we were sitting on the couch. I thought: \u201cYou know what?\u00a0 I would love to get engaged and married on the same day.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Just cut the stress completely out of it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Just cut the stress out. She [friend] said, \u201cWell, that\u2019s kind of a funny idea; but I mean, I guess that would work.\u201d\u00a0 And that was it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>That was it because Ryan was in the other room\u2014he overheard that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>4:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou tucked that away in the back of your mind, and you jump ahead now a couple of years later. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>No, no, no\u2014he engaged in <em>Mission Impossible<\/em>. [Laughter] He went on recon efforts and work that took thousands of hours, as a single man. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>It did take thousands of hours; yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I\u2019m not overstating it!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>No; no\u2014not at all. Thousands of hours, dollars\u2014whatever you want to throw out there. [Laughter] Thousands is a good adjective. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You had to arrange for a hundred people to be in a city away from where you guys live\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014because Amanda wanted to get married on a beach somewhere. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You decided, \u201cOkay; Hollywood, Florida, is the place.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You had to get her to Florida without her knowing what was going on\u2014\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014in the midst of a hurricane hitting. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You had to get all of the family and everybody there, keeping the secret. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You had to plan out the whole day; and in addition to that, you decided that you were going to capture all of this on video\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014and not just home movie video\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>5:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014but you have a little videography in your background. You wanted this done right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So, after Amanda arrives, late on the night before all of this is supposed to happen, you pick her up. Was this for breakfast?\u00a0 Were you taking her out to breakfast or where were you going when you picked her up the next morning?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>I was taking her to get engaged!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Well, I know\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>No breakfast \/ we didn\u2019t eat. [Laughter]\u00a0 I don\u2019t remember eating. Did we eat that day?\u00a0 What did we eat?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>I don\u2019t remember eating that day either. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>I\u2019m starving!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Where did you tell her you were taking her?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>I told her we were going on a drive. She saw the cameraman with me. So, she knew a proposal or something was happening. She just got in the car, and we were just going for a ride. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Did the cameraman get in the car with you?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>He\u2019s in the backseat. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>He\u2019s in the backseat. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Now, I just want to stop for a second. Had the hurricane not hit the day before\u2014\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>So, it stormed really badly the night before. It cleared up for about three hours on the morning of our wedding. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>6:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd then, it was monsoon from that point on. So, the sun came out for the engagement. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Had that not happened, how had you planned on proposing to her?\u00a0 Were you going to take the helicopter ride with \u201cWill you marry me?\u201d on the beach?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Maybe. [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>What do you mean\u2014\u201cMaybe\u201d?!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Maybe\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>This is a basketball player. He makes up the play based on what the defense looks like; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>I mean, at this point, you\u2019re not as concerned about the engagement when you know you have a wedding in your back pocket. We could have gone to McDonald\u2019s<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u2014like it didn\u2019t\u2014at that point, I was <em>so<\/em> exhausted \/ I was so tired. I was like, \u201cI just want to get married.\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u201cI just want to do this.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>So, we went to where the wedding was supposed to be. There was a beautiful fountain right by the beach, and I asked her to marry me. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>7:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Oh, no, no, no, no, no. You got out of the car. You walked over by the fountain, and what did you say?!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>We walked around for a little bit, because I knew that our family and friends were still getting up. They needed to be in the lounge for the big reveal that \u201cHey, we\u2019re getting married today!\u201d\u00a0 So, I was kind of stalling. I was just kind of walking around and telling her like, \u201cI know I\u2019ve been travelling a lot, and I\u2019ve been kind of working on some stuff.\u201d\u00a0 <br><br><strong>Bob: <\/strong>And you\u2019re probably sitting there going, \u201cWill you get to this?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u201cCome on!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>That\u2019s exactly what I was thinking. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Yes; we were walking around. The funny thing is I was like: \u201cI\u2019ve been setting this thing up. Why don\u2019t you come over here?\u201d\u00a0 And we walk over, and there are these supermodels doing this photo shoot. Amanda\u2019s like, \u201cWhat in the world did you bring me to?\u201d\u00a0 I was like, \u201cWhoa!\u201d\u2014I didn\u2019t know it. So, she\u2019s like, \u201cWhere are we going?\u201d\u00a0 I was like, \u201cOkay, let\u2019s just walk over this way.\u201d\u00a0 <br><br><strong>Amanda: <\/strong>It\u2019s Miami; okay?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Yes; it\u2019s Miami. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>I\u2019m thinking, \u201cWhat did he sign me up for?\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Yes; so, we start walking around. I got the text like, \u201cHey, we\u2019re all in here ready to go.\u201d\u00a0 So, I walked her over to the fountain; and I said, \u201cAmanda Roman, you\u2019ve made me so happy. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>8:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cWill you marry me?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>That simple?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Well, no!\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>There was a little bit more to it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>I\u2019ll interject here. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>We\u2019ll let her tell it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Another great story ruined by an eyewitness. [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Yes; right. [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>What did he say?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Well, he actually had two boxes in his hand; and he said\u2014you forgot about that one; didn\u2019t you?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Two boxes in his hand\u2014and he said, \u201cI have two things for you.\u201d\u00a0 He asked me which one I wanted first, and I don\u2019t remember what I responded; but he went with the one he wanted anyway. [Laughter]\u00a0 He got down on his knee, and he said all that stuff. I mean, really, a lot of\u2014I\u2019m sure you can ask your daughter\u2014you really don\u2019t remember exactly what they say, because you\u2019re just in a whole other world\u2014you\u2019re just so excited. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob: <\/strong>Good thing there is video; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Yes; absolutely. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>You\u2019ve got it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>And so, he got down on one knee, popped the first box open. It was an engagement ring. Then, he handed me the second box, and it was a pair of earrings; and they looked really, really familiar. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI just kind of gave him a curious look. He said, \u201cI need to introduce you to somebody.\u201d\u00a0 So, he kind of rushes me over\u2014now, I\u2019m thinking: \u201cWhy are we rushing this?\u00a0 This is our engagement!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u201cThis is our moment!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>\u201cWhat else do we have to do today that will top this?\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 So, he introduces me to the wedding coordinator at the hotel. He said: \u201cThis is Ozzie. I\u2019ve been talking to him for a while. You know, a while ago, you said that you wanted to get engaged and married on the same day; but there\u2019s one thing that you\u2019d really need here in order to do that.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, I\u2019m super confused. I\u2019m not sure what\u2019s going on. I\u2019m thinking, maybe, he means, a year from now, we\u2019ll come back to this spot and get married. He kind of gives a little head nod to Ozzie. Ozzie opens the two double doors, and a hundred of my family and friends are standing there with a big sign that says, \u201cTODAY?\u201d\u2014\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014and they all yelled, \u201cTODAY!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>So, I had asked the question, not just \u201cWill you marry me?\u201d but \u201cWill you marry me today?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So, that\u2019s the first point where it dawns on you: \u201cI\u2019m not just getting engaged today\u201d?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Well, it took me a while for it to kind of sink in. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I guess so!\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Was it when you were putting the wedding dress on?\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>No; you kind of look at it\u2014I still have this picture in my mind\u2014it\u2019s so vivid. You kind of look at the whole room, and these big signs, and everybody is yelling. Then, when I started to kind of focus in on each person\u2014and it wasn\u2019t just immediate family, but it was extended family and friends I knew had travelled from such far places\u2014I just\u2014then, it clicked: \u201cOh, this is really going down <em>today<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>So, when did you start crying?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Oh, immediately!\u00a0 And not the little, cute cry\u2014I mean, ugly cry \/ mascara on the\u2014[Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Sobbing crying?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Sobbing. My friend had to physically hold my hand. It wasn\u2019t until I felt like her hand\u2014and she looked at me and said, \u201cYou are getting married today,\u201d that it really sunk in. Then, I just lost it all over again. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe other thing, too, is that the first person I saw was my mom. She ran towards us, and she gave us a hug. You know, previously, she really wasn\u2019t onboard; but it was just\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You didn\u2019t realize the small miracle that had taken place. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Oh, yes. So, for people that watch the documentary, they think it\u2019s a really cool love story\u2014and I think it is\u2014but the best part of it\u2014for all of the miracles that God orchestrated in the midst of it\u2014and seeing my mom was, by far, the biggest one. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>She had not liked him, initially, because she didn\u2019t know him\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014and was not for the wedding when, Ryan, you came to ask for Amanda\u2019s hand in marriage. She wasn\u2019t for it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>She said, \u201cNo,\u201d\u2014said, \u201cChange the date\u201d; but you plowed on, and you both kind of had a standoff. You both went before Almighty God and said, \u201cEither God\u2019s going to change <em>you<\/em>, Ryan; or He\u2019s going to change <em>me<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 And God changed <em>her<\/em>. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And she was there. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>And she was there. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And she was for it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>And she was for it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>\u2014100 percent. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>That morning, when you proposed, that was the first time you\u2019d ever said to Amanda, \u201cI love you\u201d; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>To hear that for the first time?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Yes. To hear that for the first time\u2014he said it as we were driving towards the spot that he was going to propose. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>He didn\u2019t even wait until the ring was out. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>He didn\u2019t. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You\u2019re dropping some cookie crumbs along the way; aren\u2019t you?\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>We\u2019re just going for it. We\u2019re just getting in the game; and we\u2019re just taking a shot, and just we\u2019ll see what happens. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>You know what\u2019s funny? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>13:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAs you were getting in the car from the hotel to head to the location, I hear him putting my bag in the trunk. And he didn\u2019t know that I heard him, but he kind of puts the bag in the trunk. The camera guy looks at him and he goes: \u201cMan, we\u2019re just testing the waters today!\u00a0 We\u2019re just testing the waters.\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 And I didn\u2019t quite understand what that meant; but\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>\u201cWe\u2019re just going for it.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>\u201cWe\u2019re just going for it.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>So, we get in the car. He starts telling me how much he cares about me and all of that. And then, he dropped the L-bomb. [Laughter]\u00a0 And I was just\u2014I knew, then, that he was going to propose. It was a really cool moment for us, personally. A lot of people that viewed the video on YouTube wanted it to be a lot more cinematic and picturesque; but to me, that meant more in that moment than anything else. So, yes, leading up to it just kind of sealed the deal. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I have a friend who just recently got engaged. One of the first things on her list of things to do was to find the dress. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThis is a big deal\u2014finding the dress you\u2019re going to get married in. You picked out the dress for her?\u2014is that right?\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>I did not. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Almost. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Almost\u2014I almost picked out the dress. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Who picked out the dress?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Amanda picked out her own dress. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>On the day you get married, you picked out the dress? [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Not quite; not quite\u2014no. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Explain how this worked. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Okay; so, this is another one of those \u201cOnly God\u201d moments in this story. Since he had kind of brought in my family on all of this, my sisters were making me believe that it was actually a really good idea to start looking for a dress pretty early on. They said: \u201cIt takes, sometimes, a year to order a dress. You, at least, need to know what you like.\u201d\u00a0 They had me fully convinced that this was not a crazy idea to go and just look for a dress [before] you are engaged. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, a friend of mine\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014we went wedding dress shopping. Before we went in, I said: \u201cI\u2019m not buying anything. They\u2019re not going to sell me on anything. I cannot be the girl who has not gotten engaged yet and has a wedding dress; okay?\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter] So, we get in; and I ended up finding the <em>dress<\/em>\u2014it was a really great price. I just thought: \u201cOkay, to sound less creepy, I have to convince Ryan with the numbers\u2014that I\u2019m getting a <em>very<\/em> good deal on this dress. Ryan\u2019s a numbers guy, and that\u2019s the only way that he\u2019ll think this is not totally creepy.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, I called him. I\u2019m going through all the numbers: \u201cIt should be this much\u2014exactly this much\u2014the trunk show and this and that.\u201d\u00a0 He said: \u201cYes; I mean, go for it. What do you have to lose?\u00a0 Just go for it.\u201d\u00a0 So, I remember hanging up the phone and looking at my friend and saying: \u201cOh, I totally got this <em>one<\/em>. [Laughter] I totally\u2014I <em>totally<\/em> hit the mark with the numbers.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>16:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cI got him onboard!\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So, the dress had been picked out, pre-fitted, ready to go. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>The dress had been picked out. The\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Is that it on the back?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>That\u2019s it!\u2014yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>In fact, I kept thinking, as I looked at your book, which is called <em>The One: An Amazing Love Story Starts with You<\/em>, \u201cWhere is the photo gallery in the middle of this book?\u201d\u00a0 I was looking for all of the pictures\u2014a dozen wedding pictures. I know\u2014okay; so, you got a montage here on the flap, which is very nice. There\u2019s a great-looking picture on\u2014but I just wanted to see all the family and the whole thing. So, I\u2019ll have to come to your house in Dallas sometime, and you\u2019ll show me that; alright?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Anytime. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Okay! I did it because she asked. I have talked to people who have gotten engaged before and said, \u201cDid you have any hint that the question was going to be asked at this event or at this time?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou [Dennis] just had this happen with the last of your children\u2014your unmarried daughter. She had a young man who popped the question with her; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Thirty-one years of age\u2014she took a walk on the beach. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Did she have any idea that\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Nope. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014this season was\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>No. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014that this might be the time?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>No. She was clueless about all that was going on behind the scenes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>2:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Even with the photographer hiding over in the sea grass?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Oh, that guy\u2014that guy was\u2014he was perfect \/ he was professional. This whole idea, actually, came from you originally\u2014just an offhanded comment you made to a friend. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>It did. It did. I was talking to a friend one day. She happened to be a wedding planner, herself; and she was telling me about how awful it actually is to plan a wedding, and how much goes into it, and how stressed out the bride is, and [the bride saying] \u201cI picked peonies, and there are roses!\u201d\u00a0 It goes on and on and on. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tShe\u2019s telling me all this, and we were at Ryan\u2019s house. It was a summer day. He was in the kitchen, cooking something; and we were sitting on the couch. I thought: \u201cYou know what?\u00a0 I would love to get engaged and married on the same day.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Just cut the stress completely out of it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Just cut the stress out. She [friend] said, \u201cWell, that\u2019s kind of a funny idea; but I mean, I guess that would work.\u201d\u00a0 And that was it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>That was it because Ryan was in the other room\u2014he overheard that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>4:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou tucked that away in the back of your mind, and you jump ahead now a couple of years later. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>No, no, no\u2014he engaged in <em>Mission Impossible<\/em>. She saw the cameraman with me. So, she knew a proposal or something was happening. She just got in the car, and we were just going for a ride. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Did the cameraman get in the car with you?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>He\u2019s in the backseat. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>He\u2019s in the backseat. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Now, I just want to stop for a second. Had the hurricane not hit the day before\u2014\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>So, it stormed really badly the night before. It cleared up for about three hours on the morning of our wedding. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>6:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd then, it was monsoon from that point on. So, the sun came out for the engagement. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Had that not happened, how had you planned on proposing to her?\u00a0 Were you going to take the helicopter ride with \u201cWill you marry me?\u201d on the beach?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Maybe. [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>What do you mean\u2014\u201cMaybe\u201d?!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Maybe\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>This is a basketball player. He makes up the play based on what the defense looks like; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>I mean, at this point, you\u2019re not as concerned about the engagement when you know you have a wedding in your back pocket. We could have gone to McDonald\u2019s<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u2014like it didn\u2019t\u2014at that point, I was <em>so<\/em> exhausted \/ I was so tired. I was like, \u201cI just want to get married.\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u201cI just want to do this.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>So, we went to where the wedding was supposed to be. There was a beautiful fountain right by the beach, and I asked her to marry me. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>7:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Oh, no, no, no, no, no. You got out of the car. You walked over by the fountain, and what did you say?!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>We walked around for a little bit, because I knew that our family and friends were still getting up. They needed to be in the lounge for the big reveal that \u201cHey, we\u2019re getting married today!\u201d\u00a0 So, I was kind of stalling. I was just kind of walking around and telling her like, \u201cI know I\u2019ve been travelling a lot, and I\u2019ve been kind of working on some stuff.\u201d\u00a0 <br><br><strong>Bob: <\/strong>And you\u2019re probably sitting there going, \u201cWill you get to this?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u201cCome on!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>That\u2019s exactly what I was thinking. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Yes; we were walking around. The funny thing is I was like: \u201cI\u2019ve been setting this thing up. Why don\u2019t you come over here?\u201d\u00a0 And we walk over, and there are these supermodels doing this photo shoot. Amanda\u2019s like, \u201cWhat in the world did you bring me to?\u201d\u00a0 I was like, \u201cWhoa!\u201d\u2014I didn\u2019t know it. So, she\u2019s like, \u201cWhere are we going?\u201d\u00a0 I was like, \u201cOkay, let\u2019s just walk over this way.\u201d\u00a0 <br><br><strong>Amanda: <\/strong>It\u2019s Miami; okay?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Yes; it\u2019s Miami. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>I\u2019m thinking, \u201cWhat did he sign me up for?\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Yes; so, we start walking around. [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>What did he say?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Well, he actually had two boxes in his hand; and he said\u2014you forgot about that one; didn\u2019t you?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Two boxes in his hand\u2014and he said, \u201cI have two things for you.\u201d\u00a0 He asked me which one I wanted first, and I don\u2019t remember what I responded; but he went with the one he wanted anyway. [Laughter]\u00a0 He got down on his knee, and he said all that stuff. I mean, really, a lot of\u2014I\u2019m sure you can ask your daughter\u2014you really don\u2019t remember exactly what they say, because you\u2019re just in a whole other world\u2014you\u2019re just so excited. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob: <\/strong>Good thing there is video; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Yes; absolutely. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>You\u2019ve got it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>And so, he got down on one knee, popped the first box open. It was an engagement ring. Then, he handed me the second box, and it was a pair of earrings; and they looked really, really familiar. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI just kind of gave him a curious look. He said, \u201cI need to introduce you to somebody.\u201d\u00a0 So, he kind of rushes me over\u2014now, I\u2019m thinking: \u201cWhy are we rushing this?\u00a0 This is our engagement!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u201cThis is our moment!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>\u201cWhat else do we have to do today that will top this?\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 So, he introduces me to the wedding coordinator at the hotel. He said: \u201cThis is Ozzie. I\u2019ve been talking to him for a while. You know, a while ago, you said that you wanted to get engaged and married on the same day; but there\u2019s one thing that you\u2019d really need here in order to do that.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, I\u2019m super confused. I\u2019m not sure what\u2019s going on. I\u2019m thinking, maybe, he means, a year from now, we\u2019ll come back to this spot and get married. He kind of gives a little head nod to Ozzie. Ozzie opens the two double doors, and a hundred of my family and friends are standing there with a big sign that says, \u201cTODAY?\u201d\u2014\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014and they all yelled, \u201cTODAY!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>So, I had asked the question, not just \u201cWill you marry me?\u201d but \u201cWill you marry me today?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So, that\u2019s the first point where it dawns on you: \u201cI\u2019m not just getting engaged today\u201d?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Well, it took me a while for it to kind of sink in. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I guess so!\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Was it when you were putting the wedding dress on?\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>No; you kind of look at it\u2014I still have this picture in my mind\u2014it\u2019s so vivid. You kind of look at the whole room, and these big signs, and everybody is yelling. Then, when I started to kind of focus in on each person\u2014and it wasn\u2019t just immediate family, but it was extended family and friends I knew had travelled from such far places\u2014I just\u2014then, it clicked: \u201cOh, this is really going down <em>today<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>So, when did you start crying?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Oh, immediately!\u00a0 And not the little, cute cry\u2014I mean, ugly cry \/ mascara on the\u2014[Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Sobbing crying?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Sobbing. My friend had to physically hold my hand. It wasn\u2019t until I felt like her hand\u2014and she looked at me and said, \u201cYou are getting married today,\u201d that it really sunk in. Then, I just lost it all over again. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe other thing, too, is that the first person I saw was my mom. She ran towards us, and she gave us a hug. You know, previously, she really wasn\u2019t onboard; but it was just\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You didn\u2019t realize the small miracle that had taken place. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Oh, yes. So, for people that watch the documentary, they think it\u2019s a really cool love story\u2014and I think it is\u2014but the best part of it\u2014for all of the miracles that God orchestrated in the midst of it\u2014and seeing my mom was, by far, the biggest one. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>She had not liked him, initially, because she didn\u2019t know him\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014and was not for the wedding when, Ryan, you came to ask for Amanda\u2019s hand in marriage. She wasn\u2019t for it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>She said, \u201cNo,\u201d\u2014said, \u201cChange the date\u201d; but you plowed on, and you both kind of had a standoff. And he didn\u2019t know that I heard him, but he kind of puts the bag in the trunk. The camera guy looks at him and he goes: \u201cMan, we\u2019re just testing the waters today!\u00a0 We\u2019re just testing the waters.\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 And I didn\u2019t quite understand what that meant; but\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>\u201cWe\u2019re just going for it.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>\u201cWe\u2019re just going for it.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>So, we get in the car. He starts telling me how much he cares about me and all of that. And then, he dropped the L-bomb. [Laughter]\u00a0 And I was just\u2014I knew, then, that he was going to propose. It was a really cool moment for us, personally. A lot of people that viewed the video on YouTube wanted it to be a lot more cinematic and picturesque; but to me, that meant more in that moment than anything else. So, yes, leading up to it just kind of sealed the deal. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I have a friend who just recently got engaged. One of the first things on her list of things to do was to find the dress. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThis is a big deal\u2014finding the dress you\u2019re going to get married in. You picked out the dress for her?\u2014is that right?\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>I did not. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Almost. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Almost\u2014I almost picked out the dress. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Who picked out the dress?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Amanda picked out her own dress. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>On the day you get married, you picked out the dress? [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Not quite; not quite\u2014no. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Explain how this worked. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Okay; so, this is another one of those \u201cOnly God\u201d moments in this story. Since he had kind of brought in my family on all of this, my sisters were making me believe that it was actually a really good idea to start looking for a dress pretty early on. They said: \u201cIt takes, sometimes, a year to order a dress. You, at least, need to know what you like.\u201d\u00a0 They had me fully convinced that this was not a crazy idea to go and just look for a dress [before] you are engaged. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, a friend of mine\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014we went wedding dress shopping. Before we went in, I said: \u201cI\u2019m not buying anything. They\u2019re not going to sell me on anything. I cannot be the girl who has not gotten engaged yet and has a wedding dress; okay?\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter] So, we get in; and I ended up finding the <em>dress<\/em>\u2014it was a really great price. I just thought: \u201cOkay, to sound less creepy, I have to convince Ryan with the numbers\u2014that I\u2019m getting a <em>very<\/em> good deal on this dress. Ryan\u2019s a numbers guy, and that\u2019s the only way that he\u2019ll think this is not totally creepy.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, I called him. I\u2019m going through all the numbers: \u201cIt should be this much\u2014exactly this much\u2014the trunk show and this and that.\u201d\u00a0 He said: \u201cYes; I mean, go for it. What do you have to lose?\u00a0 Just go for it.\u201d\u00a0 So, I remember hanging up the phone and looking at my friend and saying: \u201cOh, I totally got this <em>one<\/em>. [Laughter] I totally\u2014I <em>totally<\/em> hit the mark with the numbers.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>16:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cI got him onboard!\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So, the dress had been picked out, pre-fitted, ready to go. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>The dress had been picked out. The\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Is that it on the back?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>That\u2019s it!\u2014yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>In fact, I kept thinking, as I looked at your book, which is called <em>The One: An Amazing Love Story Starts with You<\/em>, \u201cWhere is the photo gallery in the middle of this book?\u201d\u00a0 I was looking for all of the pictures\u2014a dozen wedding pictures. I know\u2014okay; so, you got a montage here on the flap, which is very nice. There\u2019s a great-looking picture on\u2014but I just wanted to see all the family and the whole thing. So, I\u2019ll have to come to your house in Dallas sometime, and you\u2019ll show me that; alright?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Anytime. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Okay! You can watch from getting in the car and saying, \u201cWe\u2019re just going to test the waters,\u201d\u2014you can watch from there\u2014all the way to the \u201cI do,\u201d and beyond with these guys as they go through their day. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>17:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Let\u2019s rush ahead to the wedding. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Let\u2019s do it!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Who walked you down the aisle?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>My mom walked me down the aisle. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Good for her!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>Yes; it was a very special moment for her and for me as well; but, yes, Mom walked me down the aisle to Ryan. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And so what about the vows?\u00a0 Did you write her vows for her?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>She actually had written in her journal, years ago, vows to her husband, sitting in a church during one of her quiet times. I don\u2019t know where she pulled it from, but she pulled it out\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>\u2014from my iPhone<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>\u2014from her iPhone. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You know\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>You know\u2014technology. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You not only did recon\u2014you did a lot of con work too. [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You broke into her apartment to get the diary. I mean\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>No, she had it!\u00a0 I didn\u2019t take the diary\u2014she had it. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>That would have been another level. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>I didn\u2019t do it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>That would have been another level. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Although her friend did steal her dress to get it to Miami, though. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>18:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>If somebody came to you and said, \u201cWe\u2019re thinking about trying what you guys tried,\u201d would you say, \u201cGo for it\u201d?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Oh, I\u2019m sure they\u2019ve already had people come to them. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes; would you say, \u201cGo for it,\u201d or would you say, \u201cYou have no idea what you\u2019re getting yourself into\u201d?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>I would say, \u201cGo for it,\u201d because I was stress-free that day. I didn\u2019t have anything to do but enjoy it. [Laughter]\u00a0 But the real question is Ryan\u2014if he would. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I\u2019m looking at a picture of you at the end of the day\u2014you had to be <em>whipped<\/em>. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Yes; I think in terms of like talking to somebody else that\u2019s thinking about doing something like this\u2014I think it comes down to motive\u2014like, \u201cWhy are you doing what you do?\u201d\u00a0 I did not do this because I thought it would make me look awesome. I did it because she asked. Again, people are giving me kudos like, \u201cI can\u2019t believe you did this!\u201d\u00a0 It\u2019s like, \u201cIt was her idea.\u201d\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t like I sat around and thought: \u201cOh my gosh!\u00a0 You know what would be romantic?\u2014if we got engaged and married on the same day.\u201d\u00a0 It\u2019s not my idea\u2014it was hers. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI would encourage any groom or any groom-to-be: \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>19:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cListen to your woman and just listen to God and be obedient. That\u2019s all you can do.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I think there is something in the Book of 1 Peter about that: \u201cHusbands, live with your wives in an understanding way\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Even your fianc\u00e9es\u2014\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>That\u2019s exactly right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014you go ahead and listen to them. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Listen to them and listen to them well. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And I pray God\u2019s favor upon you two. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ryan: <\/strong>Oh, thank you. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>There is one thing left to be done here\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Hang on. Thanks, Mom. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Amanda: <\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt wasn\u2019t until I became a mother that I <em>fully<\/em> understood why you were so protective and cautious with the decisions that I made; and knowing that you did it by yourself\u2014raising two children by yourself\u2014makes me further know that everything that you did was truly out of love and out of care. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI also think that I really had this moment with God one day when we were driving to your house, and I was with Ryan\u2014we were married. I just stepped back and I thought: \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>24:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cOh, my gosh!\u00a0 I never thought this moment would happen, where I\u2019m with my husband and we\u2019re going to your house. It\u2019s a good thing, and you\u2019re excited to greet both of us at the door.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI just had this overwhelming feeling of God\u2019s speaking to my heart and saying: \u201cAlthough you didn\u2019t understand it, I used your mom to set the timing for you and Ryan. Had you guys gotten married a year after dating, when you really thought you wanted to, your lives would have been on a completely different path today.
