I have a question for you; okay?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Sure.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You\u2019ve been in settings where people are talking about something that was going on in their life\u2014they were with a group of people or something\u2014and they will say, \u201cAnd then God just showed up.\u201d You\u2019ve heard people say that; right?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Sure.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So the question is: \u201cWhere was He before that?\u201d [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You know\u2014haven\u2019t you ever wondered when they say, \u201cAnd God showed up,\u201d\u2014and I\u2019m going: \u201cNo, He was there before. Maybe you just weren\u2019t as aware of Him being there.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Well, back last winter, when we got up one morning and the temperature gauge had plunged to a record low\u2014you remember\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I remember. It was chilly; yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You remember that? I turned on the water to wash my hands in the morning. There was a drip that came out\u2014was not a good sign.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Just one drip?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>2:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>One drip\u2014[Laughter]\u2014no water. We had no water in the house. I called a neighbor a few minutes later because it was early, and I didn\u2019t want to wake anybody up. The neighbor said, \u201cNo, we have water.\u201d He said, \u201cWe don\u2019t have heat, but we have water.\u201d [Laughter] I go, \u201cI\u2019ll trade you some heat for some water.\u201d Anyway, I was just sitting there, thinking \/ I was going: \u201cYou know? Where is God in the midst of this?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>A lot of us face issues in our lives\u2014as husbands, wives, moms, dads, grandparents, single people\u2014where, in the midst of it\u2014to your point, Bob, we miss God in the midst of life.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Well, it\u2019s not like\u2014when the pipes were frozen at your house\u2014it\u2019s not like God was\u2014had moved out for awhile and comes back: \u201cOh, I forgot to wrap the pipes. I\u2019m sorry.\u201d [Laughter] Or it\u2019s not like your neighbor, next door, without the electricity\u2014is God: \u201cI forgot to pay the bill.\u201d God\u2019s in the midst of all of that; isn\u2019t He?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>He is, and He wants us to recognize His presence\u2014to your point\u2014as we face what some would call mundane issues. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>3:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn fact, that\u2019s what Gloria Furman calls \u201ca good bit of life\u2014the mundane issues of life.\u201d Isn\u2019t that right, Gloria?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That\u2019s right! It\u2019s mundane. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>There\u2019s a reason why she does that. Gloria is a wife, a mom of four\u2014ages six and under. I\u2019m wondering how anyone could refer to four children, six and under, as mundane.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>That\u2019s a circus happening.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>It is. But when the circus is every day\u2014all day\u2014it becomes the normal.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>And especially\u2014and here\u2019s the thing\u2014because you\u2019re raising four kids, six and under, in a three-bedroom flat in downtown Dubai.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Right. That\u2019s right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Now, we have to explain why she\u2019s in Dubai. She and her husband Dave have started a church, and you have like a thousand people coming to your church? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Approximately.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Wow!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>That\u2019s not mundane!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>No.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Sixty, seventy \/ eighty nationalities showing up at the church; but in the midst of this, you had a chance to craft a book called <em>Glimpses of Grace<\/em>. It\u2019s about, really\u2014about\u00a0 life, as a mom, and finding God in the midst of it; right?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>4:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That\u2019s right!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>When did that moment come for you?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>The moment came for me, I think, when our first child was born. I was finishing up seminary at that time. I had about six weeks left of class, and Eliza was born. I realized that I had put all of my spirituality into routines that were so fixed \/ that did not include a child. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI was sitting there\u2014I remember sitting in my rocking chair, looking out the window\u2014it was four o\u2019 clock in the morning or some obscene hour. I was awake with the baby. I was praying. I looked out at the lights and I thought: \u201cLord, are you meeting with anyone else right now? Can you meet with me right now?\u2014because this isn\u2019t my normal quiet time.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That journey, for me\u2014of realizing that God was at work in the mundane\u2014I think kind of began there because, up until that point, I was fairly well-controlled over all of my circumstances\u2014at least, I felt. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>5:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Are you a disciplined, kind of Type-A person?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes. I would probably say that I am; but right now, my discipline is just, \u201cDo I know where the diapers are?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Well, and that\u2019s the point\u2014when you are a mother of four\u2014and now the routine is defined by <em>them<\/em> rather than by you\u2014it can throw a lot of young moms for a real curve.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>It sure did. I had actually compartmentalized God into one little corner of my apartment\u2014in a rocking chair, during a certain hour of the day. After that hour, I would close my Bible and just go about my business. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I think this is probably an illness that a good bit of Christians suffer from. We typically reserve Sunday for our experience with God\u2014on Sunday morning\u2014sing a few songs, a little prayer, a little preaching of the Scriptures, and we walk out through the door, and we\u2019re not experiencing God on an ongoing basis the other six and three-quarter days of the week. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>6:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Right; \u201cWhere did He go?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>He\u2019s there.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>He wants you to interact with Him and to find Him \u201cshowing up,\u201d like Bob was talking about earlier. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So, in the middle of the night\u2014and your first baby was one who did not sleep through the night quickly or easily.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Not at that moment; no!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>As your routine was being interrupted, you had to learn that your relationship with God was never designed to be just a compartment in your life; right?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That\u2019s right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So, tell us about how that process began to evolve for you.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>It began to evolve with, first, me being very sad \/ I was very discouraged. I looked at all the things that I now had to do, as a young mom, as interruptions to what God was going to do in my life. I would make grand plans\u2014reading plans, memory plans, prayer plans\u2014and then I would start them and then halt: \u201cBaby\u2019s crying,\u201d \u201cSomeone\u2019s at the door,\u201d \u201cI have these chores.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>7:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI realized that God is going to use these things \/ ordinary things to change me \/ to grow me\u2014awareness. <em>Glimpses of Grace<\/em> is an awareness campaign\u2014that, \u201cGod is in the mundane, and He is working.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>So how do you catch God at work in the midst of changing a diaper?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>I think a tenderness of heart\u2014that the Lord is with you at all times. Something that particularly encourages me is actually the Great Commission: \u201cGo therefore, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. I am with you always, even to the end of the age. All things have been given to Me.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat empowers <em>me<\/em>, knowing that Jesus is over all things. He promised never to leave me. So, if He is with me to the end of the age, He is with me to the end of that road trip, or that drop-off for school, or this colic phase for my infant, or this troublesome discipline situation I have with my toddler. He is with me in those moments. As I\u2019m making disciples \/ discipling my children, Jesus is with me; and that encourages me: \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>8:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cI\u2019m not on my own\u2014alone in that.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI think we, as young moms, look to one another and say, \u201cOh, look, I\u2019m not alone,\u201d\u2014which is true\u2014but there is Someone who is ever-present and empowering us to do our work of discipleship.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You had a spiritually-defining moment when you were in college\u2014when your faith went from being superficial to being substantive; right?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That\u2019s right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Tell us about what happened and what changed.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>I was in college\u2014in a freshman girls\u2019 Bible study. I had been there for about a month-and-a-half or so, and I wanted to quit. I didn\u2019t feel comfortable.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Why did you go in the first place?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>I was invited.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Had you grown up going to church? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria:<\/strong> Yes!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Was that a part?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes; yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You thought of yourself as a Christian?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So, getting involved in a Bible study was not like, \u201cOh, I guess I\u2019ll go see what these weird Christians believe.\u201d [Laughter] It was you doing what \u201cgood Christian girls do.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Sure. It seemed natural. I wasn\u2019t certain if I had a Bible and where I had put it with my college stuff\u2014but I got one\u2014and went to this Bible study, and had a workbook that accompanied it. I began to be uncomfortable with doing the workbook because all the other young ladies in the study would read the answers\u2014the same answers that I wrote down\u2014but it would be from their hearts. They would say how God had changed them and how He had personally met them in His Word. I was like, \u201cI\u2019m looking at the same Word she is, and I do not understand why there\u2019s an emotional connection to this.\u201d I kind of looked at it as a book\u2014\u201cWe\u2019re in school; we\u2019re studying.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI told my leader: \u201cI don\u2019t really feel comfortable doing this Bible study anymore. I think you girls are great! So, please call me. Let\u2019s go hang out.\u201d She said: \u201cI think perhaps it\u2019s because you\u2019re not a Christian. I don\u2019t know that you\u2019re a born-again Christian.\u201d I said: \u201cWell, of course, I\u2019m a Christian. I\u2019m American. I went to church when I was a young girl. I know things about God. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cI could tell you how to spell Nebuchadnezzar. I know\u2014you know\u2014I know stuff.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tShe\u2019s like: \u201cYou don\u2019t have to know stuff to know Christ \/ to have Him know you personally. You need to be born again.\u201d She walked through what it means to be born again. She had the audacity\u2014the loving, <em>bold<\/em> audacity\u2014to suggest: \u201cPerhaps your faith isn\u2019t grounded in who Christ is. Perhaps you just have the trappings.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Were you insulted?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes; because I had never heard that you had to be born again\u2014not in a way that I understood. I\u2019m sure that someone had shared the gospel with me, at some point\u2014multiple times, probably, over the course of my childhood\u2014but I didn\u2019t have ears to hear, and my eyes were blind. God hadn\u2019t opened my eyes to see His truth in His Word. At that moment was when God had chosen to save me.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So, how did you move from insulted to converted?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>She shared the gospel with me\u2014she said: \u201cWe\u2019re lost. We\u2019re dead in our sin. Sin isn\u2019t just things that you do that are bad. Sin is also things that you don\u2019t do that you ought to do\u2014like worship God.\u201d She said, \u201cIt\u2019s by grace through faith.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat stood out to me. By the end of that phone conversation, it was as though\u2014when Peter was preaching to the people in Acts, they, at the end of his sermon \/ they said, \u201cWhat must we do to be saved?\u201d I remember feeling chaos in my heart because I was lost! Until that moment, I would have said I was trying hard and \u201cGod <em>knows<\/em> that I\u2019m trying. He\u2019s going to take whatever I can give.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You became aware of your lostness.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria:<\/strong> I was aware for the first time.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And in a matter of minutes moved from being insulted to\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria:<\/strong> \u2018Save me Jesus!\u2019\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And, what happened?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria:<\/strong> I started going back to the Bible study again!\u00a0 [Laughing] I was baptized several months later, continued on in that college ministry, and\u2014yes; the rest is history I suppose.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Part of the reason I wanted you to share that story\u2014really two reasons\u2014one is because we may have some folks listening who are in that kind of, \u201cYes, I think Jesus is a good thing,\u201d phase that you were in\u2014who need to hear, \u201cNo, there\u2019s something more than just, \u2018He\u2019s a good Savior, if you\u2019re an American.\u2019\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI think it\u2019s important for listeners to know what we\u2019re talking about when we talk about being a Christian \/ when we talk about loving Jesus. We\u2019re talking about something that is at a different level than just the superficial relationship you had. Any listener can have the same moment you had if they\u2019ll surrender their life to Christ and see Him the way you saw Him; right?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And this is a marriage and family radio program that we have here\u2014so I think it\u2019d be appropriate to use an illustration. When you got married, you ultimately had to decide if you were going to make the commitment to the other person. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You went from dating to something a little more formal.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You made a commitment and said, \u201cI choose you.\u201d I think, for a lot of people\u2014they\u2019ve been around things of Jesus Christ\u2014the Scriptures, church, around the people of God.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>See some things they like\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes. But they\u2019ve never come to the point of surrender and commitment. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>13:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tA Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ, who\u2019s made a decision to make a commitment to say: \u201cI\u2019m in. I want You as my Savior, You did what I couldn\u2019t do for myself. You paid the price for my sins. I need forgiveness. I need to get out of this lost state, and I need You to lead me where I should go.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I\u2019ll mention to our listeners: \u201cIf you go to our website, FamilyLifeToday.com, there\u2019s a link there that says, \u201cTwo Ways to Live.\u201d It\u2019ll lay this out for you\u2014the difference that we\u2019re talking about\u2014and help you understand what it means to have a living relationship with the living God, through a relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut the other reason I wanted you to tell that story is because that turning point in your life awakened in you some dreams of how you were going to now serve God with your life. As you were describing going to seminary, and studying, and preparing, and your prayer lists, and your \u201cdo\u201d lists\u2014and, all of a sudden now, you\u2019re a wife and a mom. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAll of this stuff you dreamed about kind of has to get set aside for a little while. There had to be some disappointment that came with, \u201cI have to take care of these kids, and I really feel like I should be doing Kingdom stuff instead of just taking care of kids!\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>It is so tempting to feel that way\u2014especially when I carry around that perspective\u2014that\u2019s a struggle. I wouldn\u2019t say that I have necessarily <em>conquered<\/em> that and felt victorious over every mundane moment of my life, knowing that I\u2019m doing God\u2019s Kingdom work. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut the moment that I realized how <em>false<\/em> it was to think that my ministry is on hold until these children are grown\u2014until I realized how false that idea was\u2014I was really kind of steeped in that thinking that, \u201cDiapers, dishes, meals,\u201d\u2014reset\u2014\u201cDiapers, dishes, meals,\u201d\u2014reset\u2014\u201cMake the bed just to lie in it over again.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong> \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSpiritually-speaking, I thought that: \u201cWhen I\u2019m finished with this\u2014I\u2019ll do a good job. I\u2019ll be a good mom\u2014and then God\u2019s going to <em>use<\/em> me. He\u2019s preparing me for something <em>after this<\/em>.\u201d Not realizing that <em>this<\/em> is what God\u2019s called me to do.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I want you to just spend a little time unpacking that because there are a lot of moms who feel like their service for Christ \/ what they want to do to love God is on hold because they have all of this stuff they have to take care of right now. They\u2019re a little frustrated by it. How do they go from being frustrated to being full of joy at the assignment God has for them right now?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Jonathan Edwards had a prayer\u2014he said, \u201cLord, stamp eternity on my eyeballs.\u201d I pray that often\u2014to see my children as eternal beings\u2014potential little brother in Christ \/ potential little sister in Christ. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>16:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThey have souls, and they are cherished so much by our Heavenly Father. When I am tempted to reduce them to \u201cthat whiny noise underneath my knees,\u201d or \u201cthat very odd smell coming from the other room,\u201d or \u201cthe mess that I have to pick up before I go to bed,\u201d\u2014when they\u2019re reduced to that is when we start going down that slope of \u201cThis isn\u2019t worthwhile.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Talk with a mom who has lost sight of what you just were talking about. She\u2019s lost sight of the goal\u2014that, \u201cThese children that God has given you are a part of the Great Commission.\u201d We\u2019re called to make disciples and to replicate ourselves to the next generation. Really, if you look at a mom\u2014and for that matter, a dad too\u2014you really are at the heart of discipleship as you shape the soul, and character, and conscience of the next generation.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That\u2019s right. I would remind that mom that: \u201cYou\u2019re not alone. Christ is with you. He\u2019s promised to be with you to the end of the age as you are going about His work of making disciples.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>17:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI would also encourage her to remember that children are <em>people<\/em>. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe often have these dreams \/ these <em>grandiose <\/em>dreams of ministering to people with all of these gifts that God has given us. Those dreams are good; but I think, in our minds, we think of those people as adults. We forget that our children are people too, and we have gifts that we can give to <em>them<\/em>.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Do you find yourself\u2014as your husband is fully-engaged in this church-planting effort in Dubai, God\u2019s using you, not just in Dubai, but he\u2019s been invited to speak in places all around the world\u2014do you find yourself kind of going, \u201cHow about you stay home with the kids for awhile and let me go out and do the cool, spiritual ministry stuff?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That is also a great temptation. I remember specifically\u2014one night, my husband called me and said that he had an opportunity to sit in a living room with some men from a country that is where the believers are persecuted. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>18:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHe said, \u201cI have an opportunity to sit in a living room with these men, and talk with them about church, and teach them about what a healthy church is.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI remember that being an <em>especially<\/em> difficult day at home. I think the kids were running in a pack against\u2014like a pack of wolves\u2014like they had plotted against me. All day long they were doing this\u2014and all the tricks that I have in my bag\u2014and he said, \u201cWell, could you put on a movie?\u201d I\u2019m like: \u201cThey\u2019re fighting about what movie to watch! It\u2019s not working.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I just want you to know that that occurs in Dubai; but it also occurs in \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tArkansas,\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>That\u2019s right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u2014in Dallas\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That\u2019s right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014yes\u2014all over the country.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That\u2019s right. Yes! Yes. So he threw out a few suggestions for me because I was like, [weary sounding] \u201cThis is just a really long day.\u201d Ultimately, I was like, \u201cThat\u2019s fine,\u201d\u2014you know\u2014\u201cGo; go. That\u2019s great.\u201d And so: \u201cAlright; dinner plans\u2014let\u2019s have cereal\u2014Dad\u2019s not coming home.\u201d [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>I remember bathing them, thinking: \u201cI\u2019m bathing them by myself again. Oh, I\u2019m putting them to bed by myself again,\u201d and \u201c\u2026preparing for the next morning by myself again.\u201d It hit me, as I\u2019m scrubbing my children down: \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>19:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m helping my husband equip these precious souls from this country. I\u2019m also discipling these kids right in front of me!\u201d It\u2019s those moments that are really impactful because I remember standing over that bathtub.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>He could not have been meeting with those guys he was meeting with if he\u2019d had to come home and give the kids a bath and put them to bed.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>There is a co-laboring. I know some women are kind of like, \u201cYes; but why is it that he always gets to do the cool stuff and I always get to do the dirty diapers and the bathing stuff?\u201d They get a little frustrated with that; but when you recognize, \u201cThere\u2019s a partnership going on here,\u201d it does reorient your thinking; doesn\u2019t it?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>It sure does.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>There are also those moments when you say, \u201cI just can\u2019t take much more of this,\u201d and they\u2019re in the more dramatic moments\u2014like when you brought your son, Judson, home from the hospital. Take our listeners to that moment and what you learned in the process.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes. My son, Judson, was born in Dubai. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>20:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI brought him home from the hospital, and he has two big sisters. They were <em>so<\/em> excited to see him. They had met him in the hospital, and he\u2019s home. They want to show him his room, all their toys, and they want to touch him \/ they just want to squeeze him. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI had laid him down on the bed. I think I was diapering him. One sister got on him and said, \u201cI\u2019m picking up the baby!\u201d Another one, \u201cNo, <em>I\u2019m<\/em> picking up the baby!\u201d They were fighting over him, pushing, pinching. Somehow, he got pushed and pinched at the same time. He starts squalling too\u2014which, if you hear newborn baby cries, it\u2019s just pathetic and so sad. I\u2019m hormonal, of course\u2014I\u2019m like, \u201cDon\u2019t touch him!\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Scooped him up off the bed and the girls were still arguing, \u201cMy brother!\u201d I said, \u201cGo to your room!\u201d They were still fighting inside their room. I could hear them knocking around in there, and picking something to fight over that was So-and-so\u2019s; and I was just holding little baby Judson. He was crying\u2014he\u2019d been pinched. I was trying to find where on his body did it hurt, and then I started crying\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>21:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014I was like, \u201cHow am I supposed to do this? I\u2019m outnumbered, Lord.\u201d I realized, in that moment: \u201cI\u2019m not alone\u2014that the Lord is with me.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I think, as all of us go through life, there are those moments when we say, \u201cI can\u2019t take it anymore,\u201d when you feel outnumbered, like you said you did \/ when you feel like your job is insignificant compared to someone else\u2019s. That\u2019s always a danger to compare where you are and the assignment God has for you with what He\u2019s given someone else to do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s in those moments that God calls us to step out in faith, and trust Him for whom He is, and say, \u201cGod, would You help me and my circumstances right now?\u201d\u2014whether it\u2019s a messy floor because of spilled apple juice\u2014you have to just take a step back and say: \u201cGod, I want to follow You. I have a question for you; okay?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Sure.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You\u2019ve been in settings where people are talking about something that was going on in their life\u2014they were with a group of people or something\u2014and they will say, \u201cAnd then God just showed up.\u201d You\u2019ve heard people say that; right?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Sure.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So the question is: \u201cWhere was He before that?\u201d [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You know\u2014haven\u2019t you ever wondered when they say, \u201cAnd God showed up,\u201d\u2014and I\u2019m going: \u201cNo, He was there before. Maybe you just weren\u2019t as aware of Him being there.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Well, back last winter, when we got up one morning and the temperature gauge had plunged to a record low\u2014you remember\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I remember. It was chilly; yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You remember that? I turned on the water to wash my hands in the morning. There was a drip that came out\u2014was not a good sign.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Just one drip?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>2:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>One drip\u2014[Laughter]\u2014no water. We had no water in the house. I called a neighbor a few minutes later because it was early, and I didn\u2019t want to wake anybody up. The neighbor said, \u201cNo, we have water.\u201d He said, \u201cWe don\u2019t have heat, but we have water.\u201d [Laughter] I go, \u201cI\u2019ll trade you some heat for some water.\u201d Anyway, I was just sitting there, thinking \/ I was going: \u201cYou know? Where is God in the midst of this?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>A lot of us face issues in our lives\u2014as husbands, wives, moms, dads, grandparents, single people\u2014where, in the midst of it\u2014to your point, Bob, we miss God in the midst of life.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Well, it\u2019s not like\u2014when the pipes were frozen at your house\u2014it\u2019s not like God was\u2014had moved out for awhile and comes back: \u201cOh, I forgot to wrap the pipes. I\u2019m sorry.\u201d [Laughter] Or it\u2019s not like your neighbor, next door, without the electricity\u2014is God: \u201cI forgot to pay the bill.\u201d God\u2019s in the midst of all of that; isn\u2019t He?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>He is, and He wants us to recognize His presence\u2014to your point\u2014as we face what some would call mundane issues. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>3:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn fact, that\u2019s what Gloria Furman calls \u201ca good bit of life\u2014the mundane issues of life.\u201d Isn\u2019t that right, Gloria?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That\u2019s right! It\u2019s mundane. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>There\u2019s a reason why she does that. Gloria is a wife, a mom of four\u2014ages six and under. I\u2019m wondering how anyone could refer to four children, six and under, as mundane.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>That\u2019s a circus happening.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>It is. But when the circus is every day\u2014all day\u2014it becomes the normal.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>And especially\u2014and here\u2019s the thing\u2014because you\u2019re raising four kids, six and under, in a three-bedroom flat in downtown Dubai.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Right. That\u2019s right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Now, we have to explain why she\u2019s in Dubai. She and her husband Dave have started a church, and you have like a thousand people coming to your church? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Approximately.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Wow!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>That\u2019s not mundane!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>No.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Sixty, seventy \/ eighty nationalities showing up at the church; but in the midst of this, you had a chance to craft a book called <em>Glimpses of Grace<\/em>. It\u2019s about, really\u2014about\u00a0 life, as a mom, and finding God in the midst of it; right?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>4:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That\u2019s right!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>When did that moment come for you?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>The moment came for me, I think, when our first child was born. I was finishing up seminary at that time. I had about six weeks left of class, and Eliza was born. I realized that I had put all of my spirituality into routines that were so fixed \/ that did not include a child. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI was sitting there\u2014I remember sitting in my rocking chair, looking out the window\u2014it was four o\u2019 clock in the morning or some obscene hour. I was awake with the baby. I was praying. I looked out at the lights and I thought: \u201cLord, are you meeting with anyone else right now? Can you meet with me right now?\u2014because this isn\u2019t my normal quiet time.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That journey, for me\u2014of realizing that God was at work in the mundane\u2014I think kind of began there because, up until that point, I was fairly well-controlled over all of my circumstances\u2014at least, I felt. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>5:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Are you a disciplined, kind of Type-A person?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes. I would probably say that I am; but right now, my discipline is just, \u201cDo I know where the diapers are?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Well, and that\u2019s the point\u2014when you are a mother of four\u2014and now the routine is defined by <em>them<\/em> rather than by you\u2014it can throw a lot of young moms for a real curve.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>It sure did. I had actually compartmentalized God into one little corner of my apartment\u2014in a rocking chair, during a certain hour of the day. After that hour, I would close my Bible and just go about my business. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I think this is probably an illness that a good bit of Christians suffer from. We typically reserve Sunday for our experience with God\u2014on Sunday morning\u2014sing a few songs, a little prayer, a little preaching of the Scriptures, and we walk out through the door, and we\u2019re not experiencing God on an ongoing basis the other six and three-quarter days of the week. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>6:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Right; \u201cWhere did He go?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>He\u2019s there.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>He wants you to interact with Him and to find Him \u201cshowing up,\u201d like Bob was talking about earlier. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So, in the middle of the night\u2014and your first baby was one who did not sleep through the night quickly or easily.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Not at that moment; no!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>As your routine was being interrupted, you had to learn that your relationship with God was never designed to be just a compartment in your life; right?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That\u2019s right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So, tell us about how that process began to evolve for you.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>It began to evolve with, first, me being very sad \/ I was very discouraged. I looked at all the things that I now had to do, as a young mom, as interruptions to what God was going to do in my life. I would make grand plans\u2014reading plans, memory plans, prayer plans\u2014and then I would start them and then halt: \u201cBaby\u2019s crying,\u201d \u201cSomeone\u2019s at the door,\u201d \u201cI have these chores.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>7:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI realized that God is going to use these things \/ ordinary things to change me \/ to grow me\u2014awareness. <em>Glimpses of Grace<\/em> is an awareness campaign\u2014that, \u201cGod is in the mundane, and He is working.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>So how do you catch God at work in the midst of changing a diaper?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>I think a tenderness of heart\u2014that the Lord is with you at all times. Something that particularly encourages me is actually the Great Commission: \u201cGo therefore, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. I am with you always, even to the end of the age. All things have been given to Me.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat empowers <em>me<\/em>, knowing that Jesus is over all things. He promised never to leave me. So, if He is with me to the end of the age, He is with me to the end of that road trip, or that drop-off for school, or this colic phase for my infant, or this troublesome discipline situation I have with my toddler. He is with me in those moments. As I\u2019m making disciples \/ discipling my children, Jesus is with me; and that encourages me: \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>8:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cI\u2019m not on my own\u2014alone in that.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI think we, as young moms, look to one another and say, \u201cOh, look, I\u2019m not alone,\u201d\u2014which is true\u2014but there is Someone who is ever-present and empowering us to do our work of discipleship.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You had a spiritually-defining moment when you were in college\u2014when your faith went from being superficial to being substantive; right?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That\u2019s right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Tell us about what happened and what changed.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>I was in college\u2014in a freshman girls\u2019 Bible study. I had been there for about a month-and-a-half or so, and I wanted to quit. I didn\u2019t feel comfortable.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Why did you go in the first place?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>I was invited.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Had you grown up going to church? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria:<\/strong> Yes!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Was that a part?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes; yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You thought of yourself as a Christian?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So, getting involved in a Bible study was not like, \u201cOh, I guess I\u2019ll go see what these weird Christians believe.\u201d [Laughter] It was you doing what \u201cgood Christian girls do.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Sure. It seemed natural. I wasn\u2019t certain if I had a Bible and where I had put it with my college stuff\u2014but I got one\u2014and went to this Bible study, and had a workbook that accompanied it. I began to be uncomfortable with doing the workbook because all the other young ladies in the study would read the answers\u2014the same answers that I wrote down\u2014but it would be from their hearts. They would say how God had changed them and how He had personally met them in His Word. I was like, \u201cI\u2019m looking at the same Word she is, and I do not understand why there\u2019s an emotional connection to this.\u201d I kind of looked at it as a book\u2014\u201cWe\u2019re in school; we\u2019re studying.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI told my leader: \u201cI don\u2019t really feel comfortable doing this Bible study anymore. I think you girls are great! So, please call me. Let\u2019s go hang out.\u201d She said: \u201cI think perhaps it\u2019s because you\u2019re not a Christian. I don\u2019t know that you\u2019re a born-again Christian.\u201d I said: \u201cWell, of course, I\u2019m a Christian. I\u2019m American. I went to church when I was a young girl. I know things about God. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cI could tell you how to spell Nebuchadnezzar. I know\u2014you know\u2014I know stuff.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tShe\u2019s like: \u201cYou don\u2019t have to know stuff to know Christ \/ to have Him know you personally. You need to be born again.\u201d She walked through what it means to be born again. She had the audacity\u2014the loving, <em>bold<\/em> audacity\u2014to suggest: \u201cPerhaps your faith isn\u2019t grounded in who Christ is. Perhaps you just have the trappings.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Were you insulted?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes; because I had never heard that you had to be born again\u2014not in a way that I understood. I\u2019m sure that someone had shared the gospel with me, at some point\u2014multiple times, probably, over the course of my childhood\u2014but I didn\u2019t have ears to hear, and my eyes were blind. God hadn\u2019t opened my eyes to see His truth in His Word. At that moment was when God had chosen to save me.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So, how did you move from insulted to converted?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>She shared the gospel with me\u2014she said: \u201cWe\u2019re lost. We\u2019re dead in our sin. Sin isn\u2019t just things that you do that are bad. Sin is also things that you don\u2019t do that you ought to do\u2014like worship God.\u201d She said, \u201cIt\u2019s by grace through faith.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat stood out to me. By the end of that phone conversation, it was as though\u2014when Peter was preaching to the people in Acts, they, at the end of his sermon \/ they said, \u201cWhat must we do to be saved?\u201d I remember feeling chaos in my heart because I was lost! Until that moment, I would have said I was trying hard and \u201cGod <em>knows<\/em> that I\u2019m trying. He\u2019s going to take whatever I can give.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You became aware of your lostness.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria:<\/strong> I was aware for the first time.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And in a matter of minutes moved from being insulted to\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria:<\/strong> \u2018Save me Jesus!\u2019\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And, what happened?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria:<\/strong> I started going back to the Bible study again!\u00a0 [Laughing] I was baptized several months later, continued on in that college ministry, and\u2014yes; the rest is history I suppose.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Part of the reason I wanted you to share that story\u2014really two reasons\u2014one is because we may have some folks listening who are in that kind of, \u201cYes, I think Jesus is a good thing,\u201d phase that you were in\u2014who need to hear, \u201cNo, there\u2019s something more than just, \u2018He\u2019s a good Savior, if you\u2019re an American.\u2019\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI think it\u2019s important for listeners to know what we\u2019re talking about when we talk about being a Christian \/ when we talk about loving Jesus. We\u2019re talking about something that is at a different level than just the superficial relationship you had. Any listener can have the same moment you had if they\u2019ll surrender their life to Christ and see Him the way you saw Him; right?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And this is a marriage and family radio program that we have here\u2014so I think it\u2019d be appropriate to use an illustration. When you got married, you ultimately had to decide if you were going to make the commitment to the other person. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You went from dating to something a little more formal.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>You made a commitment and said, \u201cI choose you.\u201d I think, for a lot of people\u2014they\u2019ve been around things of Jesus Christ\u2014the Scriptures, church, around the people of God.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>See some things they like\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes. But they\u2019ve never come to the point of surrender and commitment. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>13:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tA Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ, who\u2019s made a decision to make a commitment to say: \u201cI\u2019m in. I want You as my Savior, You did what I couldn\u2019t do for myself. You paid the price for my sins. I need forgiveness. I need to get out of this lost state, and I need You to lead me where I should go.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I\u2019ll mention to our listeners: \u201cIf you go to our website, FamilyLifeToday.com, there\u2019s a link there that says, \u201cTwo Ways to Live.\u201d It\u2019ll lay this out for you\u2014the difference that we\u2019re talking about\u2014and help you understand what it means to have a living relationship with the living God, through a relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut the other reason I wanted you to tell that story is because that turning point in your life awakened in you some dreams of how you were going to now serve God with your life. As you were describing going to seminary, and studying, and preparing, and your prayer lists, and your \u201cdo\u201d lists\u2014and, all of a sudden now, you\u2019re a wife and a mom. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAll of this stuff you dreamed about kind of has to get set aside for a little while. There had to be some disappointment that came with, \u201cI have to take care of these kids, and I really feel like I should be doing Kingdom stuff instead of just taking care of kids!\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>It is so tempting to feel that way\u2014especially when I carry around that perspective\u2014that\u2019s a struggle. I wouldn\u2019t say that I have necessarily <em>conquered<\/em> that and felt victorious over every mundane moment of my life, knowing that I\u2019m doing God\u2019s Kingdom work. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut the moment that I realized how <em>false<\/em> it was to think that my ministry is on hold until these children are grown\u2014until I realized how false that idea was\u2014I was really kind of steeped in that thinking that, \u201cDiapers, dishes, meals,\u201d\u2014reset\u2014\u201cDiapers, dishes, meals,\u201d\u2014reset\u2014\u201cMake the bed just to lie in it over again.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong> \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSpiritually-speaking, I thought that: \u201cWhen I\u2019m finished with this\u2014I\u2019ll do a good job. I\u2019ll be a good mom\u2014and then God\u2019s going to <em>use<\/em> me. He\u2019s preparing me for something <em>after this<\/em>.\u201d Not realizing that <em>this<\/em> is what God\u2019s called me to do.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>I want you to just spend a little time unpacking that because there are a lot of moms who feel like their service for Christ \/ what they want to do to love God is on hold because they have all of this stuff they have to take care of right now. They\u2019re a little frustrated by it. How do they go from being frustrated to being full of joy at the assignment God has for them right now?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Jonathan Edwards had a prayer\u2014he said, \u201cLord, stamp eternity on my eyeballs.\u201d I pray that often\u2014to see my children as eternal beings\u2014potential little brother in Christ \/ potential little sister in Christ. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>16:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThey have souls, and they are cherished so much by our Heavenly Father. When I am tempted to reduce them to \u201cthat whiny noise underneath my knees,\u201d or \u201cthat very odd smell coming from the other room,\u201d or \u201cthe mess that I have to pick up before I go to bed,\u201d\u2014when they\u2019re reduced to that is when we start going down that slope of \u201cThis isn\u2019t worthwhile.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Talk with a mom who has lost sight of what you just were talking about. She\u2019s lost sight of the goal\u2014that, \u201cThese children that God has given you are a part of the Great Commission.\u201d We\u2019re called to make disciples and to replicate ourselves to the next generation. Really, if you look at a mom\u2014and for that matter, a dad too\u2014you really are at the heart of discipleship as you shape the soul, and character, and conscience of the next generation.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That\u2019s right. I would remind that mom that: \u201cYou\u2019re not alone. Christ is with you. He\u2019s promised to be with you to the end of the age as you are going about His work of making disciples.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>17:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI would also encourage her to remember that children are <em>people<\/em>. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe often have these dreams \/ these <em>grandiose <\/em>dreams of ministering to people with all of these gifts that God has given us. Those dreams are good; but I think, in our minds, we think of those people as adults. We forget that our children are people too, and we have gifts that we can give to <em>them<\/em>.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Do you find yourself\u2014as your husband is fully-engaged in this church-planting effort in Dubai, God\u2019s using you, not just in Dubai, but he\u2019s been invited to speak in places all around the world\u2014do you find yourself kind of going, \u201cHow about you stay home with the kids for awhile and let me go out and do the cool, spiritual ministry stuff?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That is also a great temptation. I remember specifically\u2014one night, my husband called me and said that he had an opportunity to sit in a living room with some men from a country that is where the believers are persecuted. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>18:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHe said, \u201cI have an opportunity to sit in a living room with these men, and talk with them about church, and teach them about what a healthy church is.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI remember that being an <em>especially<\/em> difficult day at home. I think the kids were running in a pack against\u2014like a pack of wolves\u2014like they had plotted against me. All day long they were doing this\u2014and all the tricks that I have in my bag\u2014and he said, \u201cWell, could you put on a movie?\u201d I\u2019m like: \u201cThey\u2019re fighting about what movie to watch! It\u2019s not working.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I just want you to know that that occurs in Dubai; but it also occurs in \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tArkansas,\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>That\u2019s right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u2014in Dallas\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That\u2019s right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014yes\u2014all over the country.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>That\u2019s right. Yes! Yes. So he threw out a few suggestions for me because I was like, [weary sounding] \u201cThis is just a really long day.\u201d Ultimately, I was like, \u201cThat\u2019s fine,\u201d\u2014you know\u2014\u201cGo; go. That\u2019s great.\u201d And so: \u201cAlright; dinner plans\u2014let\u2019s have cereal\u2014Dad\u2019s not coming home.\u201d [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>I remember bathing them, thinking: \u201cI\u2019m bathing them by myself again. Oh, I\u2019m putting them to bed by myself again,\u201d and \u201c\u2026preparing for the next morning by myself again.\u201d It hit me, as I\u2019m scrubbing my children down: \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>19:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m helping my husband equip these precious souls from this country. I\u2019m also discipling these kids right in front of me!\u201d It\u2019s those moments that are really impactful because I remember standing over that bathtub.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>He could not have been meeting with those guys he was meeting with if he\u2019d had to come home and give the kids a bath and put them to bed.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>There is a co-laboring. I know some women are kind of like, \u201cYes; but why is it that he always gets to do the cool stuff and I always get to do the dirty diapers and the bathing stuff?\u201d They get a little frustrated with that; but when you recognize, \u201cThere\u2019s a partnership going on here,\u201d it does reorient your thinking; doesn\u2019t it?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>It sure does.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>There are also those moments when you say, \u201cI just can\u2019t take much more of this,\u201d and they\u2019re in the more dramatic moments\u2014like when you brought your son, Judson, home from the hospital. Take our listeners to that moment and what you learned in the process.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Yes. My son, Judson, was born in Dubai. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>20:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI brought him home from the hospital, and he has two big sisters. They were <em>so<\/em> excited to see him. They had met him in the hospital, and he\u2019s home. They want to show him his room, all their toys, and they want to touch him \/ they just want to squeeze him. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI had laid him down on the bed. I think I was diapering him. One sister got on him and said, \u201cI\u2019m picking up the baby!\u201d Another one, \u201cNo, <em>I\u2019m<\/em> picking up the baby!\u201d They were fighting over him, pushing, pinching. Somehow, he got pushed and pinched at the same time. He starts squalling too\u2014which, if you hear newborn baby cries, it\u2019s just pathetic and so sad. I\u2019m hormonal, of course\u2014I\u2019m like, \u201cDon\u2019t touch him!\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Gloria: <\/strong>Scooped him up off the bed and the girls were still arguing, \u201cMy brother!\u201d I said, \u201cGo to your room!\u201d They were still fighting inside their room. I could hear them knocking around in there, and picking something to fight over that was So-and-so\u2019s; and I was just holding little baby Judson. He was crying\u2014he\u2019d been pinched. I was trying to find where on his body did it hurt, and then I started crying\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>21:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014I was like, \u201cHow am I supposed to do this? I\u2019m outnumbered, Lord.\u201d I realized, in that moment: \u201cI\u2019m not alone\u2014that the Lord is with me.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I think, as all of us go through life, there are those moments when we say, \u201cI can\u2019t take it anymore,\u201d when you feel outnumbered, like you said you did \/ when you feel like your job is insignificant compared to someone else\u2019s. That\u2019s always a danger to compare where you are and the assignment God has for you with what He\u2019s given someone else to do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s in those moments that God calls us to step out in faith, and trust Him for whom He is, and say, \u201cGod, would You help me and my circumstances right now?\u201d\u2014whether it\u2019s a messy floor because of spilled apple juice\u2014you have to just take a step back and say: \u201cGod, I want to follow You.
