You\u2019re going to hear a message today that\u2014Dennis Rainey is going to be pounding the table throughout this whole message. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I was just thinking about pounding the table before you said that, Bob. [Laughter]\u00a0 The listener is going to hear my passion because\u2014listen to me\u2014marriages and families, today, desperately need you\u2014you, as a couple\u2014to pick up the mantle, and get in the game, and make an impact on your friends\u2019 marriages, your family\u2019s marriages, your community\u2019s marriages. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI mean, marriage and family is, in my opinion\u2014it is a Trojan horse way to invade enemy territory and take the truth of the Bible, the truth about Jesus Christ, and the truth about how to have a relationship with God into people\u2019s lives. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>2:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThey need it. They want it. They\u2019re looking for it. Their marriages aren\u2019t working, and they\u2019re looking for somebody who can provide some help and hope; and we\u2019ve got it! It\u2019s called <em>The Art of Marriage<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup>. And we\u2019re going to explain to you how you can do that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut first of all, you need to hear a pair of warriors, Dave and Ann Wilson, who speak at our <em>Weekend to Remember<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup> marriage getaways. Dave is a pastor of a little country church up in the Detroit area called Kensington Community Church. They are going to challenge you with your purpose: \u201cWhat\u2019s your mission as a couple?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob: <\/strong>They pound the table, like you do\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>They do\u2014\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014on this subject. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014because they know it\u2019s important. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tA bicycle is a whole lot easier to balance if it\u2019s headed somewhere \/ if it\u2019s going in a direction\u2014especially in the right direction. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob: <\/strong>That\u2019s right. And the whole point of this message is that we know you\u2019re busy, we know that your marriage isn\u2019t perfect, we know that there are other things you could be doing with your time; but we think there are friends, family members, and people around you who need <em>you<\/em> to be investing in them. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>3:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat\u2019s what Dave and Ann are talking about in this message. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And we just happen to have some tools\u2014that if this resonates with you, and you want to get in the game and start a small group\u2014we\u2019ve got some material \/ it\u2019s video-assisted\u2014that is some of the best material that is available anywhere in the world. [Cheering]\u00a0 You\u2019ve heard of Findlay, Ohio?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Okay. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Are you just saying that?\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 Yes; it\u2019s a town\u2014I grew up there \/ Ann grew up there. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>4:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYes; we didn\u2019t really date in high school. We were like a year off. We had a three-year high school; so, we didn\u2019t date. But I always knew her as the sister of\u2014her dad coached me \/ her brothers played ball with me. So, tell about\u2014\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Yes; and I really just\u2014I knew of Dave Wilson because everybody knew him. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Oh, yes; everybody knew him. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>He was this athlete, and all the girls liked him. And I thought\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>I used to take my hair and flip it like that. [Laughter]\u00a0 I played in a rock band, and I flipped it like that. I\u2019m not kidding!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Ann: <\/strong>And I just thought\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>I had like two bangs that went\u2014swoosh. [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>\u2014\u201cThis guy is the most conceited guy.\u201d\u00a0 That\u2019s what I thought. So, we kind of\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>She did not like me. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>\u2014stayed far away from each other. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Yes; we met\u2014I came home from college, and we met in the gym. But here\u2019s what happened\u2014when we finally started dating and\u2014literally, from the day we went on our first date and got married, it was nine months\u2014or maybe, eight months. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Nine months. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>It was very quick. By the way, we don\u2019t advise that; okay? Even at our church, during our premarital mentoring, we say, \u201cWe want you to be at least a year dating.\u201d\u00a0 So, we don\u2019t even tell them that that is how we got married because it was less than a year. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>5:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut when we got married, we actually were told we were\u2014I was at Ball State University\/ she was at the University of Kentucky as a freshman. I was a senior. We were both involved in Cru\u2014now\u2014it was Campus Crusade at the time. Both of the staff there\u2014her Kentucky staff and Ball State told us both, separately, we need to go to the <em>Weekend to Remember<\/em> \/ FamilyLife <em>Weekend to Remember<\/em> before we got married. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe went as an engaged couple two weeks before our wedding to the conference that we now speak for. It\u2019s the only conference we\u2019ve ever attended as a conferee. We\u2019ve been a speaker ever since\u2014not immediately, obviously\u2014but we went \/ just sat there as an engaged couple. Tell them what we were thinking. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Oh my gosh!\u00a0 We were like, \u201cThis is exciting.\u201d\u00a0 We went to Chicago\u2014the ballroom was packed, and these couples are taking notes. Dennis Rainey was our speaker. They are taking notes furiously, and people are crying. We\u2019re looking at each other like: \u201cWhat are they doing?!\u00a0 Why are they taking so many notes?!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>6:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cHow hard can it be?\u2014really?\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dave: <\/strong>Seriously. We thought that <em>all<\/em> weekend. We <em>never<\/em> made that bridge into \u201cWe\u2019re going to need this,\u201d the <em>whole<\/em> weekend. We thought it was <em>great<\/em>; but the whole weekend, we thought: \u201cThey\u2019re in trouble. They have bad marriages. I don\u2019t know why\u2014they must not be as good as us \/ they love Jesus as much as us\u201d; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Yes!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>The whole weekend, we\u2019d have these little conversations, like: \u201cThey\u2019re writing love letters to each other. You\u2019ve got to be kidding me!\u00a0 There are scheduling <em>sex<\/em>\u2014what?!\u00a0 [Laughter] We\u2019re going to get married and make love every day, three or four times a day.\u201d\u00a0 I mean, we were just like\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>I never said that. [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dave: <\/strong>I did. I should have known!\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 But I\u2019m not kidding\u2014we went through the whole weekend, thinking, \u201cThis doesn\u2019t apply to us.\u201d Honestly, went home from the conference, even though we both would have said, \u201cGreat weekend,\u201d because we did get God\u2019s plan\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>We loved it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dave: <\/strong>\u2014for marriage. We took the manuals. Back then\u2014it\u2019s the same manual that we teach today only packaged differently\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Updated. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>\u2014same notes. It\u2019s been a little updated. We put it in like a shelf and never looked at it again. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>7:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou know, we got married in two weeks. We were like: \u201cGreat stuff. We\u2019re not going to need it.\u201d\u00a0 And honestly\u2014I mean, I wish I was lying. We <em>never<\/em> thought God would use our marriage or anything we learned that weekend to help anybody else. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dave: <\/strong>That weekend was for us and only us. That\u2019s how inward focused we were and <em>never<\/em> thought He\u2019d ever use us in any other way. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>And yet, we did something really\u2014on our honeymoon night\u2014that I think marked us. And that\u2019s before we got into our bed\u2014we got down on our knees, and we asked God to take our marriage and to not just make it good but to make it <em>great<\/em>\u2014to use us for His kingdom. I think, sometimes, we pray these prayers\u2014we just think it\u2019s this little prayer. Yet, those little prayers, sometimes, have these <em>huge<\/em> dividends. We didn\u2019t know that back then; did we?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Oh, we had no idea. I mean, we <em>wanted<\/em> God to use us. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>We got that from the <em>Weekend to Remember<\/em>. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>8:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dave: <\/strong>But we really hadn\u2019t thought it through. We were just na\u00efve honeymooners. So, we get married. We crawl in our marriage bed; and we, like Ann said, prayed on our knees before we crawled in our marriage bed. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe next day\u2014our first night was in Columbus, Ohio. The next day\u2014wasn\u2019t it?\u2014we flew to\u2014we\u2019re really cheap, at least, I am. I\u2019m all about not spending any money. So, we got our honeymoon for free because we went to my brother\u2019s in Boston; and her sister and her husband had a cottage on a lake, and it was <em>free<\/em>\u2014I\u2019m not kidding!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>It was awesome. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>That\u2019s the only reason we went there. But we spent one night at my brother\u2019s house. My brother is, still, ten years older\u2014still is. [Laughter] He and Cathy, at that time, had been married about\u2014what?\u201415 years probably. So, we spent one night there\u2014again, <em>free<\/em>. And then, we were going to drive the next day to the cottage we were going to stay at for two weeks. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd then, that first night at my brother\u2019s house\u2014we\u2019d been married two days\u2014guess what we did all evening?\u00a0 We <em>counseled<\/em> their marriage. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe\u2014I had no idea!\u00a0 I mean, I didn\u2019t know my brother real well \/ we sort of grew up separate. But we were sitting there talking at the dinner table that night. They started sharing problems in their marriage. We were like, \u201cOh my gosh!\u201d\u00a0 And they were asking us for advice\u2014I am not kidding!\u00a0 We were like, \u201cWe know nothing!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>So, we were like, \u201cWhat did they say at the conference?\u201d\u00a0 We were like, \u201cOh, they had some really good things.\u201d\u00a0 So, we\u2019re sharing what they shared at the marriage conference, not having had to apply it yet; but they were eating it up; weren\u2019t they?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Yes; and we realized, the second day of our marriage: \u201cOh my gosh!\u00a0 Our marriage isn\u2019t even about us.\u201d\u00a0 We thought we were getting married to be happy. And of course, every couple wants to be happy; but we knew, in the first week: \u201cThis isn\u2019t about us anymore.\u201d\u00a0 And we realized, \u201cWe prayed on our knees, two nights ago, that God would use our marriage to impact others; and here we are, two days later.\u201d\u00a0 We know\u2014you know\u2014we <em>knew<\/em> <em>nothing<\/em>!\u00a0 We\u2019re talking: \u201cThere are five threats to oneness,\u201d\u2014like\u2014\u201c What were those again?\u201d\u00a0 And we\u2019re going through them and \u201cGod\u2019s plan and God\u2019s purpose for marriage is to mirror, to multiply, and to mutually complete each other.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI mean, we teach this stuff now. But I mean, we would just\u2014we didn\u2019t even know. If you\u2019ve been to a <em>Weekend to Remember<\/em>\u2014how many of you have been to one?\u00a0 Yes; you are a marriage expert!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>You are!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>You are. You have got more material in one weekend than most marriages get in a lifetime. You know more about God\u2019s design for marriage\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>\u2014than most Christian couples in churches. We pastor a church. Most of the couples at our church do not get, ever in their lifetime, what you get in 48 hours. And we got that before we were married. So, we saw <em>immediately<\/em>: \u201cOh my gosh! God\u2019s going to use us.\u201d\u00a0 We\u2019ll tell you the rest of the story later, but that was week one, as a 22-year-old and a 19-year-old\u2014again, we don\u2019t advise that. Don\u2019t get married before 20, but we did. [Laughter] And here we are\u2014being used by God\u2014and it was amazing. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tMark Twain said, \u201cThe two most important days of your life are\u201d\u2014anybody know?\u2014\u201cthe day you were born\u201d\u2014and?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience: <\/strong>The day you die?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>\u201cThe day you know <em>why<\/em> you were born.\u201d\u00a0 If you\u2019re going to write something down, write that down; or just remember it\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014it\u2019s simple. Mark Twain, of all people, said that: \u201cThe two most important days of your life\u2026.\u201d\u00a0 Obviously, the day you were born matters\u2014even though none of us remember it. It was pretty traumatic for us; right?\u00a0 It\u2019s like\u2014nobody remembers that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut what\u2019s more important?\u2014to know <em>why<\/em> you are born. Here\u2019s what I know\u2014and I said this last weekend at my church\u2014I said: \u201cMost people in our church do not know why they are on this planet. They think they are on this planet to be happy, get a job, get married, have a house, have a couple dogs, have a kid\u2014three or four kids\u2014win the Super Bowl in Detroit.\u201d\u00a0 That\u2019s what they think their\u2014yes, whatever. It\u2019s like that\u2019s what people think is their reason for living. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI wonder if you know why you were born because the second you know why changes everything. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>I really feel like, when people\u2014like even our kids\u2014when I die, I want to have lived out every single thing that God had in mind when He put me together. I don\u2019t want to miss one thing. Do you?\u00a0 I want to live that \/ I want to do it. So, some people say, \u201cHow do I know?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tEven our kids have asked, over the years when they were growing up, \u201cHow do I know what God\u2019s purpose for me is?\u201d\u00a0 I sit there, and I think: \u201cWhat are you good at?\u00a0 What are you <em>passionate<\/em> about?\u00a0 And what have you experienced pain in?\u201d\u00a0 Sometimes, those ingredients mixed together\u2014God will reveal what His purpose for you is. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd there are a lot of different things; but in our case, it\u2019s kind of like that. We\u2019re passionate about marriage; but we also have some real pain and brokenness in it, which has made us want to help other people\u2014it\u2019s like: \u201cOh my gosh!\u00a0 Don\u2019t go through what we went through. Let us help you\u201d; you know?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Yes, and I think another way to say what Ann just said is\u2014I always say: \u201cWhat\u2019s in your hand?\u00a0 What\u2019s in your heart?\u2014that\u2019s what you\u2019re made to do.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cWhat\u2019s in your hand?\u201d means: \u201cWhat are you gifted at \/ what are you good at?\u00a0 What do you have in your hand that you can do, and maybe, other people can\u2019t?\u201d \u201cWhat\u2019s in your heart\u201d is\u2014what Ann says: \u201cWhat do you lay in bed at night about?\u2014what fires you up? \/ you can\u2019t sleep\u2014you\u2019ve got a fire in your belly about that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThose two things, together, come together and say, \u201cThis is what you are on this planet to do.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>13:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat\u2019s when you discover \u201cWhy I was born.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI was actually in college the first time I ever heard\u2014and it was Bill Bright\u2014the President and Founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, who has since passed\u2014but I was at a college Christmas conference in Chicago, which means I\u2019m 20 years old \/ I\u2019d just become a Christian. I wasn\u2019t your church kid. I didn\u2019t understand the Bible\u2014never heard this passage before. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBill Bright got up\u2014maybe, 2,000 college kids were there on New Year\u2019s Eve. We were going to pray in the new year. And I\u2019ve got to be honest\u2014at this conference, I was like: \u201cWe\u2019re going to what?!\u00a0 <em>Pray<\/em> in the New Year!\u201d\u00a0 I was that new in my faith\u2014I was like, \u201cI\u2019ve never been to a New Year\u2019s Eve party where we <em>prayed<\/em> in the new year.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m sitting in this room. Bill Bright walks up and he says, \u201cI\u2019m going to share the most important words ever spoken by the most important man that ever lived at the most important moment of His life. I didn\u2019t know what he was talking about\u2014like: \u201cWho could this be?\u00a0 It must be Jesus because we\u2019re in a Christian setting. It\u2019s always Jesus. That\u2019s the answer.\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd he read a passage, maybe, you know\u2014\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014it\u2019s Matthew 28. It\u2019s referred to as the Great Commission. How many know what I\u2019m talking about?\u00a0 Yes. I tell you what\u2014I knew, that night, why I was born\u2014it was to be a part of fulfilling the Great Commission. Can anybody quote it?\u00a0 [Murmuring]\u00a0 Yes; it sounds like tongues. [Laughter]\u00a0 Okay; so, here we go\u2014I\u2019ll read it to you. I\u2019ll read it to you, but you were saying the exact thing. Jesus said\u2014He came up to them. This is just before He ascends to the Father. So, that\u2019s why the most important man, Jesus\u2014He\u2019s on His deathbed, basically\u2014He\u2019s going to ascend to the Father \/ He hasn\u2019t come back yet\u2014you haven\u2019t seen Him physically since. He\u2019s going to share the most important words on His mind; and He doesn\u2019t say, \u201cPray,\u201d or \u201cGet married.\u201d\u00a0 He says\u2014what?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHere\u2019s what He says\u2014Jesus came to them and said, \u201cAll authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I\u2019ve commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat has since been called the Great Commission. It is the commission of all Christ-followers\u2014to \u201cGo;\u2026make disciples\u2026\u201d\u2014that\u2019s it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI preached last week in my church. I said this\u2014we are talking about a different topic\u2014but I said: \u201cIt\u2019s really interesting\u2014when Jesus called His first disciples, He told them on their first sentence what His mission was for their life. And it wasn\u2019t, probably, what they were thinking.\u201d\u00a0 You know when you come to Christ, you think He\u2019s going to give me a better life, going to make my marriage better, going to make me disciplined\u2014better man\/better woman. No; Jesus told the disciples what His mission was, and His mission for them is the same mission here. It\u2019s the same mission for you and me. Do you know what it is?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHe said to Andrew and Simon\u2014he said, \u201cFollow me, and I will make you\u201d\u2014what?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience: <\/strong>Fishers of men. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>\u2014\u201cfishers of men.\u201d\u00a0 They were like, \u201cWhat is a fisher of men?\u201d\u00a0 Well, a fisher of men\u2014and Andy Stanley says it this way: \u201cIf you are a follower of Jesus Christ, here is your mission. This is why you are on the planet\u2014every one of us. It\u2019s a general mission. The specifics\u2014you\u2019ve got to figure out. But the general mission for every Christ-follower is the same thing: \u201cFollowers fish,\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>16:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014heard that last weekend: \u201cFollowers fish.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s like everywhere I go, I\u2019ve got my eyes open, thinking, \u201cOkay, how does God want to use me\u201d\u2014and now, us, as a married couple\u2014\u201cto fish for men and women?\u201d because what?\u2014people that don\u2019t know Christ are spending eternity apart from Him. So, God has put me strategically in places, where it\u2019s like: \u201cOh my gosh!\u00a0 If we have the mindset \/ the reason we were born\u2014now, together as one\u2014is to use our marriage to fish to fulfill the Great Commission\u2014changes everything. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>And I don\u2019t know\u2014you guys have probably seen this too\u2014but how hurting are marriages today?\u00a0 I mean, we just did a marriage series in the fall. We bumped up in our numbers so much. Why?\u00a0 People are in pain, and they don\u2019t have answers. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd it drives me crazy that we grow up learning\u2014we\u2019re educated, we\u2019re taught to have good manners, we\u2019re taught to have a career, we\u2019re taught like, \u201cOh, this person is going to be great.\u201d\u00a0 Who teaches you how to be married?\u00a0 Where do we hear that?\u00a0 We watch it on TV. We go to the movies. Are those great examples?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>17:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNot usually. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, when I sit there and think: \u201cOh my gosh! Could it be our job to take the gospel?\u201d\u00a0 And maybe, people aren\u2019t open to the gospel; but what they are open to is, \u201cHelp me in my marriage because I need this.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Yes; and it\u2019s really interesting\u2014if you ever looked at that Great Commission passage\u2014it\u2019s really a very important distinction. When Jesus said, \u201cGo\u2026make disciples,\u201d the word, go, is a participle in the Greek. Anybody know what a participle is?\u2014it\u2019s an i-n-g word\u2014so the literal translation is: \u201cAs you are going, make disciples.\u201d\u00a0 Is that significant?\u00a0 Does that sort of change things?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSee, here is how most people read that verse\u2014like, \u201cOh, if I\u2019m going to go make disciples, I\u2019ve got to leave what I\u2019m doing and go become a missionary, or be a pastor like Dave and Ann, or speak for FamilyLife, or I\u2019ve got to stop doing what I\u2019m doing.\u201d\u00a0 I go: \u201cNo, no, no. That\u2019s not what Jesus said\u2014He said, \u2018As you are going, make disciples of all nations.\u2019\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>18:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhat does that mean?\u00a0 That means whatever God has placed you\u2014do. If you\u2019re a doctor, you\u2019re a plumber, you\u2019re a stay-at-home mom, you\u2019re a school teacher\u2014I could keep going\u2014truck driver\u2014right? \u2014any job you have\u2014like: \u201cGod has made you good at that. That\u2019s what\u2019s in your hand.\u201d\u00a0 Now, He says, \u201cWhat have I put in your heart?\u2014where, as you are going, make disciples.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, you want your business and, maybe, you work in a cubicle. You don\u2019t work in a cubicle to do a job. As a follower of Christ, who is a fisher of men, you go to your cubicle\u2014like: \u201cOkay; who am I going to interact with today?\u00a0 How am I going to treat them?\u00a0 Whom am I going to talk to today?\u00a0 What\u2019s going to happen in this meeting?\u201d\u00a0 The whole time you are like: \u201cOh my gosh! I\u2019m on this planet\u2014I know why I was born\u2014to fish!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI said it this way this weekend\u2014and some of you write this down\u2014this is what I said, \u201cMake a dent where you\u2019re sent.\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 That\u2019s it! Followers fish. People at my church know I like to rhyme things \/ I can even rap that if you want: \u201cMake a dent where you\u2019re sent.\u201d Anyway, I think you\u2019ll remember that: \u201cMake a dent. Leave a mark. There should be a mark left in your neighborhood. When you move out, they should say: \u2018Oh, man! I can\u2019t believe they are moving away. They helped our marriage more than anybody. They had a small group in their home.\u2019\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>19:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe\u2019ll talk about all the different ways you could do great things to help marriages; but it\u2019s like: \u201cMake a dent where you\u2019re sent.\u201d Whenever I say that at my church, people come up and say, \u201cWell, how do I know where I\u2019m sent?\u201d\u00a0 You ready?\u00a0 I said this during this weekend\u2014\u2014it\u2019s profound. Nobody would ever think of this \/ this is profound\u2014God gave me this: \u201cYou know how you know where you are sent?\u00a0 Where you are is where you\u2019re sent.\u201d\u00a0 There it is\u2014boom!\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 That\u2019s profound. Don\u2019t clap for that\u2014it\u2019s ridiculous\u2014[Laughter]\u2014they\u2019re from our church. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>You guys can. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>They\u2019re just trying to make me feel good. But it\u2019s sort of a play on words, but it\u2019s like: \u201cWait, wait, wait!\u00a0 You think you have to be sent somewhere?\u00a0 No, you are already sent.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Ann: <\/strong>Alright. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>You just got to understand\u2014God has already sent you to that neighborhood, to that school, to that family and that small group, to that church. It\u2019s like: \u201cOh my gosh!\u2014to that business.\u201d\u00a0 Literally, get on an airplane\u2014think of this\u2014\u201cWhy am I talking to this dude beside me?\u00a0 He\u2019s asking me what I do.\u201d\u00a0 God wants you to fish!\u00a0 Could it be that God has sent you, right there, to make a disciple?\u00a0 So, you think you have to be sent somewhere\u2014no; you already are sent!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>20:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t[Studio]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Well, we\u2019ve got to interrupt. We\u2019ve been listening to the first part of a message from Dave and Ann Wilson about making a dent where you are sent. I like that!\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I do too. I think he\u2019s right. I think you just need to look around and see where you are\u2014look at the relationships you have\u2014and say: \u201cYou know?\u00a0 We know some couples who could use some relevant, high quality material that\u2019s going to benefit their marriage and their family, maybe, even for generations to come.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>One of the reasons we created <em>The Art of Marriage<\/em> couples series is because we had people who said: \u201cI would love to do something for my relatives,\u201d or \u201c\u2026for people at church,\u201d or \u201c\u2026for people in our neighborhood\u2014people I know who are struggling in their marriage. I just don\u2019t know what to tell them \/ I don\u2019t know what to say.\u201d\u00a0 I mean\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And they are not alone in that, Bob. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I think a lot of people think: \u201cI\u2019ve not been to seminary. I can\u2019t preach like my pastor does.\u201d\u00a0 If that\u2019s the case, you just need to pick up a tool that\u2019s going to make you a highly effective couple in building into other people\u2019s marriages and families. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>21:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s called <em>The Art of Marriage<\/em>. You\u2019re going to hear a message today that\u2014Dennis Rainey is going to be pounding the table throughout this whole message. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I was just thinking about pounding the table before you said that, Bob. [Laughter]\u00a0 The listener is going to hear my passion because\u2014listen to me\u2014marriages and families, today, desperately need you\u2014you, as a couple\u2014to pick up the mantle, and get in the game, and make an impact on your friends\u2019 marriages, your family\u2019s marriages, your community\u2019s marriages. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI mean, marriage and family is, in my opinion\u2014it is a Trojan horse way to invade enemy territory and take the truth of the Bible, the truth about Jesus Christ, and the truth about how to have a relationship with God into people\u2019s lives. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>2:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThey need it. They want it. They\u2019re looking for it. Their marriages aren\u2019t working, and they\u2019re looking for somebody who can provide some help and hope; and we\u2019ve got it! It\u2019s called <em>The Art of Marriage<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup>. And we\u2019re going to explain to you how you can do that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut first of all, you need to hear a pair of warriors, Dave and Ann Wilson, who speak at our <em>Weekend to Remember<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup> marriage getaways. And the whole point of this message is that we know you\u2019re busy, we know that your marriage isn\u2019t perfect, we know that there are other things you could be doing with your time; but we think there are friends, family members, and people around you who need <em>you<\/em> to be investing in them. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>3:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat\u2019s what Dave and Ann are talking about in this message. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And we just happen to have some tools\u2014that if this resonates with you, and you want to get in the game and start a small group\u2014we\u2019ve got some material \/ it\u2019s video-assisted\u2014that is some of the best material that is available anywhere in the world. [Cheering]\u00a0 You\u2019ve heard of Findlay, Ohio?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Okay. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Are you just saying that?\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 Yes; it\u2019s a town\u2014I grew up there \/ Ann grew up there. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>4:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYes; we didn\u2019t really date in high school. We were like a year off. We had a three-year high school; so, we didn\u2019t date. But I always knew her as the sister of\u2014her dad coached me \/ her brothers played ball with me. So, tell about\u2014\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Yes; and I really just\u2014I knew of Dave Wilson because everybody knew him. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Oh, yes; everybody knew him. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>He was this athlete, and all the girls liked him. And I thought\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>I used to take my hair and flip it like that. [Laughter]\u00a0 I played in a rock band, and I flipped it like that. I\u2019m not kidding!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Ann: <\/strong>And I just thought\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>I had like two bangs that went\u2014swoosh. [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>\u2014\u201cThis guy is the most conceited guy.\u201d\u00a0 That\u2019s what I thought. So, we kind of\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>She did not like me. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>\u2014stayed far away from each other. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Yes; we met\u2014I came home from college, and we met in the gym. But here\u2019s what happened\u2014when we finally started dating and\u2014literally, from the day we went on our first date and got married, it was nine months\u2014or maybe, eight months. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Nine months. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>It was very quick. By the way, we don\u2019t advise that; okay? Even at our church, during our premarital mentoring, we say, \u201cWe want you to be at least a year dating.\u201d\u00a0 So, we don\u2019t even tell them that that is how we got married because it was less than a year. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>5:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut when we got married, we actually were told we were\u2014I was at Ball State University\/ she was at the University of Kentucky as a freshman. I was a senior. We were both involved in Cru\u2014now\u2014it was Campus Crusade at the time. Both of the staff there\u2014her Kentucky staff and Ball State told us both, separately, we need to go to the <em>Weekend to Remember<\/em> \/ FamilyLife <em>Weekend to Remember<\/em> before we got married. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe went as an engaged couple two weeks before our wedding to the conference that we now speak for. It\u2019s the only conference we\u2019ve ever attended as a conferee. We\u2019ve been a speaker ever since\u2014not immediately, obviously\u2014but we went \/ just sat there as an engaged couple. Tell them what we were thinking. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Oh my gosh!\u00a0 We were like, \u201cThis is exciting.\u201d\u00a0 We went to Chicago\u2014the ballroom was packed, and these couples are taking notes. Dennis Rainey was our speaker. They are taking notes furiously, and people are crying. We\u2019re looking at each other like: \u201cWhat are they doing?!\u00a0 Why are they taking so many notes?!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>6:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cHow hard can it be?\u2014really?\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dave: <\/strong>Seriously. We thought that <em>all<\/em> weekend. We <em>never<\/em> made that bridge into \u201cWe\u2019re going to need this,\u201d the <em>whole<\/em> weekend. We thought it was <em>great<\/em>; but the whole weekend, we thought: \u201cThey\u2019re in trouble. They have bad marriages. I don\u2019t know why\u2014they must not be as good as us \/ they love Jesus as much as us\u201d; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Yes!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>The whole weekend, we\u2019d have these little conversations, like: \u201cThey\u2019re writing love letters to each other. You\u2019ve got to be kidding me!\u00a0 There are scheduling <em>sex<\/em>\u2014what?!\u00a0 [Laughter] We\u2019re going to get married and make love every day, three or four times a day.\u201d\u00a0 I mean, we were just like\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>I never said that. [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dave: <\/strong>I did. I should have known!\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 But I\u2019m not kidding\u2014we went through the whole weekend, thinking, \u201cThis doesn\u2019t apply to us.\u201d Honestly, went home from the conference, even though we both would have said, \u201cGreat weekend,\u201d because we did get God\u2019s plan\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>We loved it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dave: <\/strong>\u2014for marriage. We took the manuals. Back then\u2014it\u2019s the same manual that we teach today only packaged differently\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Updated. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>\u2014same notes. It\u2019s been a little updated. We put it in like a shelf and never looked at it again. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>7:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou know, we got married in two weeks. We were like: \u201cGreat stuff. We\u2019re not going to need it.\u201d\u00a0 And honestly\u2014I mean, I wish I was lying. We <em>never<\/em> thought God would use our marriage or anything we learned that weekend to help anybody else. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dave: <\/strong>That weekend was for us and only us. That\u2019s how inward focused we were and <em>never<\/em> thought He\u2019d ever use us in any other way. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>And yet, we did something really\u2014on our honeymoon night\u2014that I think marked us. And that\u2019s before we got into our bed\u2014we got down on our knees, and we asked God to take our marriage and to not just make it good but to make it <em>great<\/em>\u2014to use us for His kingdom. I think, sometimes, we pray these prayers\u2014we just think it\u2019s this little prayer. Yet, those little prayers, sometimes, have these <em>huge<\/em> dividends. We didn\u2019t know that back then; did we?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Oh, we had no idea. I mean, we <em>wanted<\/em> God to use us. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>We got that from the <em>Weekend to Remember<\/em>. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>8:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dave: <\/strong>But we really hadn\u2019t thought it through. We were just na\u00efve honeymooners. So, we get married. We crawl in our marriage bed; and we, like Ann said, prayed on our knees before we crawled in our marriage bed. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe next day\u2014our first night was in Columbus, Ohio. The next day\u2014wasn\u2019t it?\u2014we flew to\u2014we\u2019re really cheap, at least, I am. I\u2019m all about not spending any money. So, we got our honeymoon for free because we went to my brother\u2019s in Boston; and her sister and her husband had a cottage on a lake, and it was <em>free<\/em>\u2014I\u2019m not kidding!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>It was awesome. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>That\u2019s the only reason we went there. But we spent one night at my brother\u2019s house. My brother is, still, ten years older\u2014still is. [Laughter] He and Cathy, at that time, had been married about\u2014what?\u201415 years probably. So, we spent one night there\u2014again, <em>free<\/em>. And then, we were going to drive the next day to the cottage we were going to stay at for two weeks. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd then, that first night at my brother\u2019s house\u2014we\u2019d been married two days\u2014guess what we did all evening?\u00a0 We <em>counseled<\/em> their marriage. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe\u2014I had no idea!\u00a0 I mean, I didn\u2019t know my brother real well \/ we sort of grew up separate. But we were sitting there talking at the dinner table that night. They started sharing problems in their marriage. We were like, \u201cOh my gosh!\u201d\u00a0 And they were asking us for advice\u2014I am not kidding!\u00a0 We were like, \u201cWe know nothing!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>So, we were like, \u201cWhat did they say at the conference?\u201d\u00a0 We were like, \u201cOh, they had some really good things.\u201d\u00a0 So, we\u2019re sharing what they shared at the marriage conference, not having had to apply it yet; but they were eating it up; weren\u2019t they?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Yes; and we realized, the second day of our marriage: \u201cOh my gosh!\u00a0 Our marriage isn\u2019t even about us.\u201d\u00a0 We thought we were getting married to be happy. And of course, every couple wants to be happy; but we knew, in the first week: \u201cThis isn\u2019t about us anymore.\u201d\u00a0 And we realized, \u201cWe prayed on our knees, two nights ago, that God would use our marriage to impact others; and here we are, two days later.\u201d\u00a0 We know\u2014you know\u2014we <em>knew<\/em> <em>nothing<\/em>!\u00a0 We\u2019re talking: \u201cThere are five threats to oneness,\u201d\u2014like\u2014\u201c What were those again?\u201d\u00a0 And we\u2019re going through them and \u201cGod\u2019s plan and God\u2019s purpose for marriage is to mirror, to multiply, and to mutually complete each other.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI mean, we teach this stuff now. But I mean, we would just\u2014we didn\u2019t even know. If you\u2019ve been to a <em>Weekend to Remember<\/em>\u2014how many of you have been to one?\u00a0 Yes; you are a marriage expert!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>You are!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>You are. You have got more material in one weekend than most marriages get in a lifetime. You know more about God\u2019s design for marriage\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>\u2014than most Christian couples in churches. We pastor a church. Most of the couples at our church do not get, ever in their lifetime, what you get in 48 hours. And we got that before we were married. So, we saw <em>immediately<\/em>: \u201cOh my gosh! God\u2019s going to use us.\u201d\u00a0 We\u2019ll tell you the rest of the story later, but that was week one, as a 22-year-old and a 19-year-old\u2014again, we don\u2019t advise that. Don\u2019t get married before 20, but we did. [Laughter] And here we are\u2014being used by God\u2014and it was amazing. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tMark Twain said, \u201cThe two most important days of your life are\u201d\u2014anybody know?\u2014\u201cthe day you were born\u201d\u2014and?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience: <\/strong>The day you die?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>\u201cThe day you know <em>why<\/em> you were born.\u201d\u00a0 If you\u2019re going to write something down, write that down; or just remember it\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014it\u2019s simple. Mark Twain, of all people, said that: \u201cThe two most important days of your life\u2026.\u201d\u00a0 Obviously, the day you were born matters\u2014even though none of us remember it. It was pretty traumatic for us; right?\u00a0 It\u2019s like\u2014nobody remembers that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut what\u2019s more important?\u2014to know <em>why<\/em> you are born. Here\u2019s what I know\u2014and I said this last weekend at my church\u2014I said: \u201cMost people in our church do not know why they are on this planet. They think they are on this planet to be happy, get a job, get married, have a house, have a couple dogs, have a kid\u2014three or four kids\u2014win the Super Bowl in Detroit.\u201d\u00a0 That\u2019s what they think their\u2014yes, whatever. It\u2019s like that\u2019s what people think is their reason for living. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI wonder if you know why you were born because the second you know why changes everything. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>I really feel like, when people\u2014like even our kids\u2014when I die, I want to have lived out every single thing that God had in mind when He put me together. I don\u2019t want to miss one thing. Do you?\u00a0 I want to live that \/ I want to do it. So, some people say, \u201cHow do I know?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tEven our kids have asked, over the years when they were growing up, \u201cHow do I know what God\u2019s purpose for me is?\u201d\u00a0 I sit there, and I think: \u201cWhat are you good at?\u00a0 What are you <em>passionate<\/em> about?\u00a0 And what have you experienced pain in?\u201d\u00a0 Sometimes, those ingredients mixed together\u2014God will reveal what His purpose for you is. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd there are a lot of different things; but in our case, it\u2019s kind of like that. We\u2019re passionate about marriage; but we also have some real pain and brokenness in it, which has made us want to help other people\u2014it\u2019s like: \u201cOh my gosh!\u00a0 Don\u2019t go through what we went through. Let us help you\u201d; you know?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Yes, and I think another way to say what Ann just said is\u2014I always say: \u201cWhat\u2019s in your hand?\u00a0 What\u2019s in your heart?\u2014that\u2019s what you\u2019re made to do.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cWhat\u2019s in your hand?\u201d means: \u201cWhat are you gifted at \/ what are you good at?\u00a0 What do you have in your hand that you can do, and maybe, other people can\u2019t?\u201d \u201cWhat\u2019s in your heart\u201d is\u2014what Ann says: \u201cWhat do you lay in bed at night about?\u2014what fires you up? \/ you can\u2019t sleep\u2014you\u2019ve got a fire in your belly about that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThose two things, together, come together and say, \u201cThis is what you are on this planet to do.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>13:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat\u2019s when you discover \u201cWhy I was born.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI was actually in college the first time I ever heard\u2014and it was Bill Bright\u2014the President and Founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, who has since passed\u2014but I was at a college Christmas conference in Chicago, which means I\u2019m 20 years old \/ I\u2019d just become a Christian. I wasn\u2019t your church kid. I didn\u2019t understand the Bible\u2014never heard this passage before. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBill Bright got up\u2014maybe, 2,000 college kids were there on New Year\u2019s Eve. We were going to pray in the new year. And I\u2019ve got to be honest\u2014at this conference, I was like: \u201cWe\u2019re going to what?!\u00a0 <em>Pray<\/em> in the New Year!\u201d\u00a0 I was that new in my faith\u2014I was like, \u201cI\u2019ve never been to a New Year\u2019s Eve party where we <em>prayed<\/em> in the new year.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m sitting in this room. Bill Bright walks up and he says, \u201cI\u2019m going to share the most important words ever spoken by the most important man that ever lived at the most important moment of His life. I didn\u2019t know what he was talking about\u2014like: \u201cWho could this be?\u00a0 It must be Jesus because we\u2019re in a Christian setting. It\u2019s always Jesus. That\u2019s the answer.\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd he read a passage, maybe, you know\u2014\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014it\u2019s Matthew 28. It\u2019s referred to as the Great Commission. How many know what I\u2019m talking about?\u00a0 Yes. I tell you what\u2014I knew, that night, why I was born\u2014it was to be a part of fulfilling the Great Commission. Can anybody quote it?\u00a0 [Murmuring]\u00a0 Yes; it sounds like tongues. [Laughter]\u00a0 Okay; so, here we go\u2014I\u2019ll read it to you. I\u2019ll read it to you, but you were saying the exact thing. Jesus said\u2014He came up to them. This is just before He ascends to the Father. So, that\u2019s why the most important man, Jesus\u2014He\u2019s on His deathbed, basically\u2014He\u2019s going to ascend to the Father \/ He hasn\u2019t come back yet\u2014you haven\u2019t seen Him physically since. He\u2019s going to share the most important words on His mind; and He doesn\u2019t say, \u201cPray,\u201d or \u201cGet married.\u201d\u00a0 He says\u2014what?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHere\u2019s what He says\u2014Jesus came to them and said, \u201cAll authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I\u2019ve commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat has since been called the Great Commission. It is the commission of all Christ-followers\u2014to \u201cGo;\u2026make disciples\u2026\u201d\u2014that\u2019s it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI preached last week in my church. I said this\u2014we are talking about a different topic\u2014but I said: \u201cIt\u2019s really interesting\u2014when Jesus called His first disciples, He told them on their first sentence what His mission was for their life. And it wasn\u2019t, probably, what they were thinking.\u201d\u00a0 You know when you come to Christ, you think He\u2019s going to give me a better life, going to make my marriage better, going to make me disciplined\u2014better man\/better woman. No; Jesus told the disciples what His mission was, and His mission for them is the same mission here. It\u2019s the same mission for you and me. Do you know what it is?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHe said to Andrew and Simon\u2014he said, \u201cFollow me, and I will make you\u201d\u2014what?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience: <\/strong>Fishers of men. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>\u2014\u201cfishers of men.\u201d\u00a0 They were like, \u201cWhat is a fisher of men?\u201d\u00a0 Well, a fisher of men\u2014and Andy Stanley says it this way: \u201cIf you are a follower of Jesus Christ, here is your mission. This is why you are on the planet\u2014every one of us. It\u2019s a general mission. The specifics\u2014you\u2019ve got to figure out. But the general mission for every Christ-follower is the same thing: \u201cFollowers fish,\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>16:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014heard that last weekend: \u201cFollowers fish.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s like everywhere I go, I\u2019ve got my eyes open, thinking, \u201cOkay, how does God want to use me\u201d\u2014and now, us, as a married couple\u2014\u201cto fish for men and women?\u201d because what?\u2014people that don\u2019t know Christ are spending eternity apart from Him. So, God has put me strategically in places, where it\u2019s like: \u201cOh my gosh!\u00a0 If we have the mindset \/ the reason we were born\u2014now, together as one\u2014is to use our marriage to fish to fulfill the Great Commission\u2014changes everything. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>And I don\u2019t know\u2014you guys have probably seen this too\u2014but how hurting are marriages today?\u00a0 I mean, we just did a marriage series in the fall. We bumped up in our numbers so much. Why?\u00a0 People are in pain, and they don\u2019t have answers. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd it drives me crazy that we grow up learning\u2014we\u2019re educated, we\u2019re taught to have good manners, we\u2019re taught to have a career, we\u2019re taught like, \u201cOh, this person is going to be great.\u201d\u00a0 Who teaches you how to be married?\u00a0 Where do we hear that?\u00a0 We watch it on TV. We go to the movies. Are those great examples?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>17:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNot usually. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, when I sit there and think: \u201cOh my gosh! Could it be our job to take the gospel?\u201d\u00a0 And maybe, people aren\u2019t open to the gospel; but what they are open to is, \u201cHelp me in my marriage because I need this.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>Yes; and it\u2019s really interesting\u2014if you ever looked at that Great Commission passage\u2014it\u2019s really a very important distinction. When Jesus said, \u201cGo\u2026make disciples,\u201d the word, go, is a participle in the Greek. Anybody know what a participle is?\u2014it\u2019s an i-n-g word\u2014so the literal translation is: \u201cAs you are going, make disciples.\u201d\u00a0 Is that significant?\u00a0 Does that sort of change things?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSee, here is how most people read that verse\u2014like, \u201cOh, if I\u2019m going to go make disciples, I\u2019ve got to leave what I\u2019m doing and go become a missionary, or be a pastor like Dave and Ann, or speak for FamilyLife, or I\u2019ve got to stop doing what I\u2019m doing.\u201d\u00a0 I go: \u201cNo, no, no. That\u2019s not what Jesus said\u2014He said, \u2018As you are going, make disciples of all nations.\u2019\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>18:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhat does that mean?\u00a0 That means whatever God has placed you\u2014do. If you\u2019re a doctor, you\u2019re a plumber, you\u2019re a stay-at-home mom, you\u2019re a school teacher\u2014I could keep going\u2014truck driver\u2014right? \u2014any job you have\u2014like: \u201cGod has made you good at that. That\u2019s what\u2019s in your hand.\u201d\u00a0 Now, He says, \u201cWhat have I put in your heart?\u2014where, as you are going, make disciples.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, you want your business and, maybe, you work in a cubicle. You don\u2019t work in a cubicle to do a job. As a follower of Christ, who is a fisher of men, you go to your cubicle\u2014like: \u201cOkay; who am I going to interact with today?\u00a0 How am I going to treat them?\u00a0 Whom am I going to talk to today?\u00a0 What\u2019s going to happen in this meeting?\u201d\u00a0 The whole time you are like: \u201cOh my gosh! I\u2019m on this planet\u2014I know why I was born\u2014to fish!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI said it this way this weekend\u2014and some of you write this down\u2014this is what I said, \u201cMake a dent where you\u2019re sent.\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 That\u2019s it! Followers fish. People at my church know I like to rhyme things \/ I can even rap that if you want: \u201cMake a dent where you\u2019re sent.\u201d Anyway, I think you\u2019ll remember that: \u201cMake a dent. Leave a mark. There should be a mark left in your neighborhood. When you move out, they should say: \u2018Oh, man! I can\u2019t believe they are moving away. They helped our marriage more than anybody. They had a small group in their home.\u2019\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>19:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe\u2019ll talk about all the different ways you could do great things to help marriages; but it\u2019s like: \u201cMake a dent where you\u2019re sent.\u201d Whenever I say that at my church, people come up and say, \u201cWell, how do I know where I\u2019m sent?\u201d\u00a0 You ready?\u00a0 I said this during this weekend\u2014\u2014it\u2019s profound. Nobody would ever think of this \/ this is profound\u2014God gave me this: \u201cYou know how you know where you are sent?\u00a0 Where you are is where you\u2019re sent.\u201d\u00a0 There it is\u2014boom!\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 That\u2019s profound. Don\u2019t clap for that\u2014it\u2019s ridiculous\u2014[Laughter]\u2014they\u2019re from our church. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann: <\/strong>You guys can. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>They\u2019re just trying to make me feel good. But it\u2019s sort of a play on words, but it\u2019s like: \u201cWait, wait, wait!\u00a0 You think you have to be sent somewhere?\u00a0 No, you are already sent.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Ann: <\/strong>Alright. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dave: <\/strong>You just got to understand\u2014God has already sent you to that neighborhood, to that school, to that family and that small group, to that church. It\u2019s like: \u201cOh my gosh!\u2014to that business.\u201d\u00a0 Literally, get on an airplane\u2014think of this\u2014\u201cWhy am I talking to this dude beside me?\u00a0 He\u2019s asking me what I do.\u201d\u00a0 God wants you to fish!\u00a0 Could it be that God has sent you, right there, to make a disciple?\u00a0 So, you think you have to be sent somewhere\u2014no; you already are sent!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>20:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t[Studio]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Well, we\u2019ve got to interrupt. We\u2019ve been listening to the first part of a message from Dave and Ann Wilson about making a dent where you are sent. I think you just need to look around and see where you are\u2014look at the relationships you have\u2014and say: \u201cYou know?\u00a0 We know some couples who could use some relevant, high quality material that\u2019s going to benefit their marriage and their family, maybe, even for generations to come.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>One of the reasons we created <em>The Art of Marriage<\/em> couples series is because we had people who said: \u201cI would love to do something for my relatives,\u201d or \u201c\u2026for people at church,\u201d or \u201c\u2026for people in our neighborhood\u2014people I know who are struggling in their marriage.
