It was kind of just\u2014he made it normal.\u00a0 He was an artist.\u00a0 So, my dad started drawing; and I thought, \u201cThat was kind of neat.\u201d\u00a0 He explained it to me\u2014the private parts and proper names.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAn important reason for <em>naming<\/em> the private parts with the proper name is a perpetrator is not going to do that.\u00a0 A perpetrator is going to give it a nickname.\u00a0 Another reason is because the proper name actually reflects the dignity as being the creature of God, and that\u2019s what our culture calls it \/ that\u2019s what the normal language is.\u00a0 The third reason is because, if something does happen, you want the child to be able to tell you specifics of what happened. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThere was a mother who told us how important this was for her\u2014that she learned this. A few weeks later, after reading the book, her daughter said, \u201cHey, my stepfather\u201d\u2014she was four\u2014so, \u201cDad\u2014he touched me <em>here<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 She could actually say what it was.\u00a0 It actually helping her to report.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Wow.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Now, the private parts thing\u2014we\u2019ve had a little bit of controversy on it because the private parts page, actually, names the private parts.\u00a0 We understand that parents want to be modest.\u00a0 We <em>encourage<\/em> modesty.\u00a0 So, we\u2019re not trying to be immodest or edgy\u2014I mean, it\u2019s a kid\u2019s book.\u00a0 But we sent the book to experts in the field\u2014Christians\/ non-Christians\u2014but still experts in the field\u2014and they all said: \u201cThat\u2019s very important.\u00a0 Keep the private parts thing.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u00a0\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay, I\u2019ve got to tell you a story here; alright?\u2014because I didn\u2019t grow up with anatomically-correct names for private parts.\u00a0 When I was potty trained, somewhere, early on, I recognized that when I would go to the bathroom, I would make bubbles in the toilet. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, that\u2019s how we referred to going to the bathroom, \u201cI need to make bubbles.\u201d\u00a0 That was my expression, as a child.\u00a0 As a result, the private part was referred to as the bubbler.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHere\u2019s where this can get problematic for you.\u00a0 I was over at the neighbor\u2019s house, one day, playing with my friend.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 I know where this is going.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 I said to the mom, \u201cI need to make bubbles.\u201d\u00a0 She said, \u201cNo, we\u2019re not going to do that mess today.\u201d\u00a0 She\u2019s thinking we\u2019re getting out the soap dish\u2014[Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u201cWhat kind of torture is this?!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014\u201cand we\u2019re not going to deal with that mess today.\u201d\u00a0 And I go, \u201cBut I need to make bubbles.\u201d\u00a0 So, it became a little bit of a problem because I didn\u2019t have any other language to know what to say.\u00a0 I think I finally said, \u201c\u2026in the bathroom.\u201d\u00a0 Still, she was thinking that we were going to get soap out in the bathroom.\u00a0 I did finally get it dealt with.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, here\u2019s why you need a book like what Justin and Lindsey have written\u2014<em>God Made All of Me<\/em>.\u00a0 And before I read this, tell them what is the most frequently- mentioned page.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is the page. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhen we asked parents, \u201cPlease take a screenshot or snapshot of your child\u2019s favorite page,\u201d this is the page that came up\u2014<em>at<\/em> <em>least<\/em>, 75 percent of the time, if not more\u2014I don\u2019t want to exaggerate.\u00a0 At least, 75 percent of children liked this page the most.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And it\u2019s a couple of kids in swimming suits here; but it says, \u201cMom said, \u2018God made every part of your body, and every part of your body is good.\u00a0 Some parts of your body are not for sharing.\u00a0 These are called your private parts.\u00a0 Private parts are the parts covered by your underwear or bathing suit and should not be touched by other people.\u2019\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, you go on\u2014and it\u2019s unpacked a little bit on the next page\u2014but you\u2019re just opening the door for a parent to say, \u201cIt\u2019s very good the way God made you.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 And that page has caused some controversy.\u00a0 There are some Christian bookstores who won\u2019t carry it because of that page.\u00a0 They would rather it not be discussed.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 One of my favorite quotes by Dr. Howard Hendricks, who was my professor and mentor for a number of years\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014he made the statement\u2014he said, \u201cWe should not be ashamed to discuss that which God was not ashamed to create.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Nicely said!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, he said a lot of things that were nicely said.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s good!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 But as parents, seriously, where do you want your child to hear about these matters, and what frame of reference?\u00a0 Shouldn\u2019t it be within a family, within a relationship\u2014father \/ child, mother \/ child\u2014where you are talking in a wholesome manner around how God made us?\u00a0 <br>\u00a0\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Just practically\u2014yes, we encourage parents to teach their children the proper names of private parts\u2014but not <em>only<\/em>.\u00a0 If I had a son and he talked about the bubbler, I wouldn\u2019t <em>stop<\/em> him from saying bubbler.\u00a0 I\u2019d just say, \u201cHey, just so you know\u2014here is the proper name.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, people think we\u2019re being really strict like: \u201cOh? Am I allowed to refer to it as the bubbler?\u201d\u00a0 Well, sure!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You can have a nickname.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes! Just not nicknames only.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s educating\u2014it\u2019s getting the conversation going. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>13:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd that page right there\u2014that will give a lot of information to your child.\u00a0 Then, you have a foundation from which to start talking about more things.\u00a0 And that opens up the lines of communication which is another one of the nine\u2014opening up the lines of communication.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBecause when you do that page and other stuff that\u2019s in the book, you are actually inviting\u2014and you can ask: \u201cDo you have other questions?\u00a0 If you <em>ever<\/em> have a question, you can ask Mom and Dad\u201d\u2014or whomever.\u00a0 And then, you have that venue \/ that avenue, going back and forth; and you\u2019re ready to have more conversations with your child.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 And you know\u2014the parents who are concerned about proper names are thinking: \u201cThis is going to do something to the innocence of a child\u2014the introduction of these names, somehow, destroys that innocence.\u201d\u00a0 And every parent\u2014we want our kids to be innocent in these issues for as long as they possibly can.\u00a0 We don\u2019t want to arouse or awaken love before it\u2019s time \/ we don\u2019t want to stir any sexual thoughts in a child inappropriately.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 I totally get that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAs a father of two little girls, who just learned about how babies are made. It was a fun time with my wife telling them. They laughed and giggled; but there is a sense of that is a milestone of them growing up.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 They don\u2019t go back from that place.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes; you don\u2019t un-hear that from your parents, but I get that.\u00a0 There is a sense of innocence loss or the age\u2014and they are now growing up. I didn\u2019t enjoy all of it\u2014not because it was awkward\u2014but because of that very point right there\u2014we\u2019re in a new realm.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 But the reality is\u2014they are going to need to know this stuff.\u00a0 It\u2019s just a question of who tells them \/ when it gets told.\u00a0 In this day and age, for protective purposes, having these proper names is a part of how you protect them; isn\u2019t it?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Absolutely.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 It is.\u00a0 And I think people need to revisit the word, innocence\u2014because I don\u2019t think calling something what it is\u2014is necessarily destroying a child\u2019s innocence. Paul wrote in Romans, Chapter 16, verse 19\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014he was saying, \u201cYour obedience is known to all so that I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise as to what is good and innocent as to what is evil.\u201d I think innocence and evil belong with one another.\u00a0 Actually, what a parent is doing here\u2014as he or she protects his or her son\u2019s or daughter\u2019s body\u2014is they are helping protect that innocence.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 I <em>love<\/em> that passage because that actually is the wrap-around verse for this whole conversation of parents, and parenting, and teaching.\u00a0 I mean, the language of wisdom and protecting against evil with their innocence\u2014that\u2019s a wonderful verse for this whole conversation.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 I think it\u2019s a verse for every parent as they raise their child in this world today.\u00a0 You want them to be wise in what is good.\u00a0 Where does that press you?\u00a0 Back to the Bible\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014to find out what is good. And innocent in what is evil\u2014where does that press you? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>16:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBack to the Book because it points out what is evil as well.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 What we\u2019ve been talking about is this <em>idea<\/em> of\u2014if you don\u2019t have this conversation, in general, about body and babies\u2014but particular about protection\u2014this information is going to get to them because of proliferation of access.\u00a0 There are stories of little children\u2014jumping out from the computer \/ things popping up\u2014I mean, they are being innocent and searching for things.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOur children, five and seven\u2014we have next door neighbors, who are between four and eleven, who they play with in our front yard.\u00a0 They [Justin\u2019s children] are going to school\u2014so, they have friends at school \/ friends at church. We were realizing: \u201cWait a second.\u00a0 They are coming back and going, \u2018Hey, Mommy and Daddy, what\u2019s kidnapping?\u2019\u00a0 \u2018Well, why are you asking?\u2019\u00a0 \u2018Well, some kid mentioned kidnapping.\u2019 \u2018Hey, Mommy\/Daddy, what\u2019s this?\u2019\u201d We were realizing, \u201c<em>We<\/em> have got to be the ones who frame and give this information <em>first<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 We want to frame it for them and do exactly what that verse said.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 We\u2019ve talked about private parts.\u00a0 You also talk in your book, as you equip parents to protect their children\u2019s bodies, you have a conversation around touch: \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>17:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cWhat\u2019s appropriate?\u00a0 What\u2019s inappropriate?\u201d\u00a0 Explain what you\u2019re trying to do there.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 We want to give an understanding that private parts are private.\u00a0 They shouldn\u2019t be touched by anyone else except a doctor when Mom and Dad are there, or a parent who is helping clean, or things like that.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe wanted them to know that there is a category called inappropriate touch so they would actually be able to think about that\u2014appropriate and inappropriate \/ not good and bad because that\u2019s actually confusing.\u00a0 Some bad touch \/ inappropriate touch feels good\u2014so physiologically. Many children can\u2019t separate the fact that, if bad touch has happened, that they are not dirty and bad. It\u2019s <em>very<\/em> important for parents, practically, just to shepherd your children\u2014inappropriate and appropriate touch\u2014and give them the category that there is a thing called inappropriate touch\u2014what it is and who does it.\u00a0 That\u2019s the whole idea of just putting it on the table for a discussion and category.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And then, the parent coaches the child in what to do if that is initiated. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>18:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, my wife\u2014and this isn\u2019t in the book anywhere\u2014but she plays a \u201cWhat if\u2026\u201d game\u2014you know: \u201cWhat if So-and-so did this?\u201d\u2014a hypothetical\u2014help apply the principles.\u00a0 We actually go through on inappropriate touch. One of the \u201cWhat ifs\u2026\u201d she\u2019s done is: \u201cWhat if one of your friends at school came into the bathroom with you and touched you inappropriately?\u00a0 What do you do?\u201d\u00a0 You help them <em>apply<\/em> what this\u2014and going back to previous conversations about tickling.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 You tickle them and say, \u201cWhat do you do next?\u201d\u00a0 \u201cCry for Mom!\u201d\u00a0 So, help them apply that.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You know, I\u2019m imagining some parents getting a copy of your book, <em>God Made All of Me: A Book to Help Children Protect Their Bodies<\/em>, and reading it to a child.\u00a0 And by the way, I\u2019ll just say, \u201cWe\u2019ve got the book in our <em>FamilyLife<\/em> <em>Today<\/em> Resource Center.\u00a0 Our listeners can go to our website if they\u2019d like to order a copy\u2014FamilyLifeToday.com\u2014or you can call 1-800-FL-TODAY, and we can get a copy sent to you.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>19:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAgain, the website is FamilyLifeToday.com.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m imagining a parent reading this book to a child and learning, in the process of the first read, that this has already happened to a child.\u00a0 The child gets quiet; or the child volunteering that \u201cUncle So-and-so did that to me already.\u201d\u00a0 What do you do when that happens, Justin?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Report any suspected abuse immediately.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Call the police?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 You can call a Sexual Assault Crisis Center locally, and they can help walk through what that looks like.\u00a0 My wife worked at one.\u00a0 Her best friend, who actually was one of the readers of this before we sent it out\u2014she was the child victim\u2019s advocate, and this happened <em>all<\/em> the time\u2014every day, she would get calls: \u201cI think something happened.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure.\u00a0 What do I do next?\u201d\u00a0 And she would walk through that.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe big idea is\u2014report \/ don\u2019t investigate.\u00a0 Now, by investigate\u2014yes; you ask questions: \u201cWell, what do you mean?\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>20:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAsk questions that aren\u2019t probing, or leading, or really confusing; but get as much information as possible. But you realize: \u201cYou\u2019re the parent.\u00a0 You\u2019re not the investigator.\u00a0 Someone else can do the investigation better than you.\u201d\u00a0 If you start doing\u2014and by investigating, it doesn\u2019t mean talking to your child.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt also means don\u2019t go talk to the person who is suspected.\u00a0 Remember, perpetrators, on average, have 120 victims.\u00a0 They are <em>masterful<\/em> at deceiving.\u00a0 So, when the parent comes in and says, \u201cHey, my child said this happened.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cOh! It was a complete misunderstanding.\u00a0 I would never do that!\u00a0 I work for the Children\u2019s Ministry\u2014come on!\u00a0 Background check\u2014doesn\u2019t happen.\u201d\u00a0 You\u2019re setting them up to start defending.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s better for you to focus on your child\u2014get any information you can. Call Sexual Assault Crisis Center \/ call the police\u2014they will take it from there. start early with proper names for body parts.\u00a0 <br><br><strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s a big one.\u00a0 I grew up with my dad who was an artist.\u00a0 When I got <em>the<\/em> <em>talk<\/em>, he actually drew pictures. It was kind of just\u2014he made it normal.\u00a0 He was an artist.\u00a0 So, my dad started drawing; and I thought, \u201cThat was kind of neat.\u201d\u00a0 He explained it to me\u2014the private parts and proper names.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAn important reason for <em>naming<\/em> the private parts with the proper name is a perpetrator is not going to do that.\u00a0 A perpetrator is going to give it a nickname.\u00a0 Another reason is because the proper name actually reflects the dignity as being the creature of God, and that\u2019s what our culture calls it \/ that\u2019s what the normal language is.\u00a0 The third reason is because, if something does happen, you want the child to be able to tell you specifics of what happened. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThere was a mother who told us how important this was for her\u2014that she learned this. A few weeks later, after reading the book, her daughter said, \u201cHey, my stepfather\u201d\u2014she was four\u2014so, \u201cDad\u2014he touched me <em>here<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 She could actually say what it was.\u00a0 It actually helping her to report.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Wow.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Now, the private parts thing\u2014we\u2019ve had a little bit of controversy on it because the private parts page, actually, names the private parts.\u00a0 We understand that parents want to be modest.\u00a0 We <em>encourage<\/em> modesty.\u00a0 So, we\u2019re not trying to be immodest or edgy\u2014I mean, it\u2019s a kid\u2019s book.\u00a0 But we sent the book to experts in the field\u2014Christians\/ non-Christians\u2014but still experts in the field\u2014and they all said: \u201cThat\u2019s very important.\u00a0 Keep the private parts thing.\u201d\u00a0 <br>\u00a0\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay, I\u2019ve got to tell you a story here; alright?\u2014because I didn\u2019t grow up with anatomically-correct names for private parts.\u00a0 When I was potty trained, somewhere, early on, I recognized that when I would go to the bathroom, I would make bubbles in the toilet. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, that\u2019s how we referred to going to the bathroom, \u201cI need to make bubbles.\u201d\u00a0 That was my expression, as a child.\u00a0 As a result, the private part was referred to as the bubbler.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHere\u2019s where this can get problematic for you.\u00a0 I was over at the neighbor\u2019s house, one day, playing with my friend.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 I know where this is going.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 I said to the mom, \u201cI need to make bubbles.\u201d\u00a0 She said, \u201cNo, we\u2019re not going to do that mess today.\u201d\u00a0 She\u2019s thinking we\u2019re getting out the soap dish\u2014[Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u201cWhat kind of torture is this?!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014\u201cand we\u2019re not going to deal with that mess today.\u201d\u00a0 And I go, \u201cBut I need to make bubbles.\u201d\u00a0 So, it became a little bit of a problem because I didn\u2019t have any other language to know what to say.\u00a0 I think I finally said, \u201c\u2026in the bathroom.\u201d\u00a0 Still, she was thinking that we were going to get soap out in the bathroom.\u00a0 I did finally get it dealt with.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, here\u2019s why you need a book like what Justin and Lindsey have written\u2014<em>God Made All of Me<\/em>.\u00a0 And before I read this, tell them what is the most frequently- mentioned page.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is the page. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhen we asked parents, \u201cPlease take a screenshot or snapshot of your child\u2019s favorite page,\u201d this is the page that came up\u2014<em>at<\/em> <em>least<\/em>, 75 percent of the time, if not more\u2014I don\u2019t want to exaggerate.\u00a0 At least, 75 percent of children liked this page the most.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And it\u2019s a couple of kids in swimming suits here; but it says, \u201cMom said, \u2018God made every part of your body, and every part of your body is good.\u00a0 Some parts of your body are not for sharing.\u00a0 These are called your private parts.\u00a0 Private parts are the parts covered by your underwear or bathing suit and should not be touched by other people.\u2019\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, you go on\u2014and it\u2019s unpacked a little bit on the next page\u2014but you\u2019re just opening the door for a parent to say, \u201cIt\u2019s very good the way God made you.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 And that page has caused some controversy.\u00a0 There are some Christian bookstores who won\u2019t carry it because of that page.\u00a0 They would rather it not be discussed.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 One of my favorite quotes by Dr. Howard Hendricks, who was my professor and mentor for a number of years\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014he made the statement\u2014he said, \u201cWe should not be ashamed to discuss that which God was not ashamed to create.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Nicely said!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, he said a lot of things that were nicely said.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s good!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 But as parents, seriously, where do you want your child to hear about these matters, and what frame of reference?\u00a0 Shouldn\u2019t it be within a family, within a relationship\u2014father \/ child, mother \/ child\u2014where you are talking in a wholesome manner around how God made us?\u00a0 <br>\u00a0\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Just practically\u2014yes, we encourage parents to teach their children the proper names of private parts\u2014but not <em>only<\/em>.\u00a0 If I had a son and he talked about the bubbler, I wouldn\u2019t <em>stop<\/em> him from saying bubbler.\u00a0 I\u2019d just say, \u201cHey, just so you know\u2014here is the proper name.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, people think we\u2019re being really strict like: \u201cOh? Am I allowed to refer to it as the bubbler?\u201d\u00a0 Well, sure!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You can have a nickname.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes! Just not nicknames only.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s educating\u2014it\u2019s getting the conversation going. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>13:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd that page right there\u2014that will give a lot of information to your child.\u00a0 Then, you have a foundation from which to start talking about more things.\u00a0 And that opens up the lines of communication which is another one of the nine\u2014opening up the lines of communication.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBecause when you do that page and other stuff that\u2019s in the book, you are actually inviting\u2014and you can ask: \u201cDo you have other questions?\u00a0 If you <em>ever<\/em> have a question, you can ask Mom and Dad\u201d\u2014or whomever.\u00a0 And then, you have that venue \/ that avenue, going back and forth; and you\u2019re ready to have more conversations with your child.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 And you know\u2014the parents who are concerned about proper names are thinking: \u201cThis is going to do something to the innocence of a child\u2014the introduction of these names, somehow, destroys that innocence.\u201d\u00a0 And every parent\u2014we want our kids to be innocent in these issues for as long as they possibly can.\u00a0 We don\u2019t want to arouse or awaken love before it\u2019s time \/ we don\u2019t want to stir any sexual thoughts in a child inappropriately.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 I totally get that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAs a father of two little girls, who just learned about how babies are made. It was a fun time with my wife telling them. They laughed and giggled; but there is a sense of that is a milestone of them growing up.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 They don\u2019t go back from that place.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes; you don\u2019t un-hear that from your parents, but I get that.\u00a0 There is a sense of innocence loss or the age\u2014and they are now growing up. I didn\u2019t enjoy all of it\u2014not because it was awkward\u2014but because of that very point right there\u2014we\u2019re in a new realm.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 But the reality is\u2014they are going to need to know this stuff.\u00a0 It\u2019s just a question of who tells them \/ when it gets told.\u00a0 In this day and age, for protective purposes, having these proper names is a part of how you protect them; isn\u2019t it?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Absolutely.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 It is.\u00a0 And I think people need to revisit the word, innocence\u2014because I don\u2019t think calling something what it is\u2014is necessarily destroying a child\u2019s innocence. Paul wrote in Romans, Chapter 16, verse 19\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014he was saying, \u201cYour obedience is known to all so that I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise as to what is good and innocent as to what is evil.\u201d I think innocence and evil belong with one another.\u00a0 Actually, what a parent is doing here\u2014as he or she protects his or her son\u2019s or daughter\u2019s body\u2014is they are helping protect that innocence.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 I <em>love<\/em> that passage because that actually is the wrap-around verse for this whole conversation of parents, and parenting, and teaching.\u00a0 I mean, the language of wisdom and protecting against evil with their innocence\u2014that\u2019s a wonderful verse for this whole conversation.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 I think it\u2019s a verse for every parent as they raise their child in this world today.\u00a0 You want them to be wise in what is good.\u00a0 Where does that press you?\u00a0 Back to the Bible\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014to find out what is good. And innocent in what is evil\u2014where does that press you? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>16:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBack to the Book because it points out what is evil as well.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 What we\u2019ve been talking about is this <em>idea<\/em> of\u2014if you don\u2019t have this conversation, in general, about body and babies\u2014but particular about protection\u2014this information is going to get to them because of proliferation of access.\u00a0 There are stories of little children\u2014jumping out from the computer \/ things popping up\u2014I mean, they are being innocent and searching for things.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOur children, five and seven\u2014we have next door neighbors, who are between four and eleven, who they play with in our front yard.\u00a0 They [Justin\u2019s children] are going to school\u2014so, they have friends at school \/ friends at church. We were realizing: \u201cWait a second.\u00a0 They are coming back and going, \u2018Hey, Mommy and Daddy, what\u2019s kidnapping?\u2019\u00a0 \u2018Well, why are you asking?\u2019\u00a0 \u2018Well, some kid mentioned kidnapping.\u2019 \u2018Hey, Mommy\/Daddy, what\u2019s this?\u2019\u201d We were realizing, \u201c<em>We<\/em> have got to be the ones who frame and give this information <em>first<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 We want to frame it for them and do exactly what that verse said.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 We\u2019ve talked about private parts.\u00a0 You also talk in your book, as you equip parents to protect their children\u2019s bodies, you have a conversation around touch: \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>17:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cWhat\u2019s appropriate?\u00a0 What\u2019s inappropriate?\u201d\u00a0 Explain what you\u2019re trying to do there.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 We want to give an understanding that private parts are private.\u00a0 They shouldn\u2019t be touched by anyone else except a doctor when Mom and Dad are there, or a parent who is helping clean, or things like that.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe wanted them to know that there is a category called inappropriate touch so they would actually be able to think about that\u2014appropriate and inappropriate \/ not good and bad because that\u2019s actually confusing.\u00a0 Some bad touch \/ inappropriate touch feels good\u2014so physiologically. Many children can\u2019t separate the fact that, if bad touch has happened, that they are not dirty and bad. It\u2019s <em>very<\/em> important for parents, practically, just to shepherd your children\u2014inappropriate and appropriate touch\u2014and give them the category that there is a thing called inappropriate touch\u2014what it is and who does it.\u00a0 That\u2019s the whole idea of just putting it on the table for a discussion and category.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And then, the parent coaches the child in what to do if that is initiated. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>18:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, my wife\u2014and this isn\u2019t in the book anywhere\u2014but she plays a \u201cWhat if\u2026\u201d game\u2014you know: \u201cWhat if So-and-so did this?\u201d\u2014a hypothetical\u2014help apply the principles.\u00a0 We actually go through on inappropriate touch. One of the \u201cWhat ifs\u2026\u201d she\u2019s done is: \u201cWhat if one of your friends at school came into the bathroom with you and touched you inappropriately?\u00a0 What do you do?\u201d\u00a0 You help them <em>apply<\/em> what this\u2014and going back to previous conversations about tickling.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 You tickle them and say, \u201cWhat do you do next?\u201d\u00a0 \u201cCry for Mom!\u201d\u00a0 So, help them apply that.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You know, I\u2019m imagining some parents getting a copy of your book, <em>God Made All of Me: A Book to Help Children Protect Their Bodies<\/em>, and reading it to a child.\u00a0 And by the way, I\u2019ll just say, \u201cWe\u2019ve got the book in our <em>FamilyLife<\/em> <em>Today<\/em> Resource Center.\u00a0 Our listeners can go to our website if they\u2019d like to order a copy\u2014FamilyLifeToday.com\u2014or you can call 1-800-FL-TODAY, and we can get a copy sent to you.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>19:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAgain, the website is FamilyLifeToday.com.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m imagining a parent reading this book to a child and learning, in the process of the first read, that this has already happened to a child.\u00a0 The child gets quiet; or the child volunteering that \u201cUncle So-and-so did that to me already.\u201d\u00a0 What do you do when that happens, Justin?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 Report any suspected abuse immediately.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Call the police?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 You can call a Sexual Assault Crisis Center locally, and they can help walk through what that looks like.\u00a0 My wife worked at one.\u00a0 Her best friend, who actually was one of the readers of this before we sent it out\u2014she was the child victim\u2019s advocate, and this happened <em>all<\/em> the time\u2014every day, she would get calls: \u201cI think something happened.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure.\u00a0 What do I do next?\u201d\u00a0 And she would walk through that.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe big idea is\u2014report \/ don\u2019t investigate.\u00a0 Now, by investigate\u2014yes; you ask questions: \u201cWell, what do you mean?\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>20:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAsk questions that aren\u2019t probing, or leading, or really confusing; but get as much information as possible. But you realize: \u201cYou\u2019re the parent.\u00a0 You\u2019re not the investigator.\u00a0 Someone else can do the investigation better than you.\u201d\u00a0 If you start doing\u2014and by investigating, it doesn\u2019t mean talking to your child.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt also means don\u2019t go talk to the person who is suspected.\u00a0 Remember, perpetrators, on average, have 120 victims.\u00a0 They are <em>masterful<\/em> at deceiving.\u00a0 So, when the parent comes in and says, \u201cHey, my child said this happened.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cOh! It was a complete misunderstanding.\u00a0 I would never do that!\u00a0 I work for the Children\u2019s Ministry\u2014come on!\u00a0 Background check\u2014doesn\u2019t happen.\u201d\u00a0 You\u2019re setting them up to start defending.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s better for you to focus on your child\u2014get any information you can. Call Sexual Assault Crisis Center \/ call the police\u2014they will take it from there. You get to be in charge.\u00a0 You\u2019re not handing over parenting\u2014you\u2019re actually doing a <em>great<\/em> job, parenting, by responding to the authorities \/ reporting to the authorities.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 But here is where you are counting the cost\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>21:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014they will be in charge \/ may mean that Uncle Fred is picked up by the police.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Justin:<\/strong>\u00a0 That might happen.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Then, the whole family is going to turn on you and, \u201cWhy didn\u2019t you go to Uncle Fred in the first place?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is part of the power the perpetrator holds, over a family and over a child, to continue this kind of behavior.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, exactly.\u00a0 This is where parents have to have the courage to do what\u2019s right for their children and not to be swayed by pressure from other family members.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You know, Justin, I just want to thank you for your work on this book and for this broadcast.\u00a0 The coaching you are giving parents right now\u2014this is not the kind of coaching you get anywhere else.\u00a0 I mean, this is the kind parents desperately need today, and I want to thank you for doing that.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI, also, want to thank a group of people who make this broadcast possible\u2014our Legacy Partners.\u00a0 As you\u2019ve listened to today\u2019s broadcast, you\u2019ve got to believe: \u201cYou know what?\u00a0 That is really <em>valuable<\/em> information.\u00a0 That\u2019s going to protect a lot of children.\u201d\u00a0 I just want to thank people for giving. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>22:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThank you for making this ministry possible in the lives of literally hundreds of thousands of parents, impacting millions of children for generations to come.\u00a0 Thank you for making this broadcast possible and for protecting children.
