I think today was a nice way to really reinvigorate the fire that brought us together to begin with and making God the center of that.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Marriage is one man \/ one woman in a covenant relationship with their God\u2014for a lifetime.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Man: <\/strong>The marriage is the beginning of a family. If we don\u2019t have families that are close to the Lord in this country, the country\u2019s going to go downhill.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>1:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>This is <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em> for Monday, April 7<sup>th<\/sup>. Our host is the President of FamilyLife<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, Dennis Rainey, and I'm Bob Lepine. We\u2019re going to talk today about why marriage really does matter and about three very special events that hope to make that point in a big way. Stay tuned.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd welcome to <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>. Thanks for joining us on the Monday edition. I\u2019ve never been to a horse race. Have you ever been to a horse race?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I have been to one. I traveled to go\u2014interestingly, to a memorial service in Lexington, Kentucky. The service was over in the morning. They said: \u201cYou know, I don\u2019t know what time your flight heads out; but right across from the airport, in Lexington, there is a phenomenal happening out there in the afternoon. If you have a few moments, you ought to go over there.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>2:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd, honestly, Bob, it was $5\u2014and it was some of the cheapest entertainment I have ever seen because I watch people. It was fascinating. I mean, that is a wonderful sub-culture that loves to come out and watch the horses run around the track.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Well, I\u2019ve seen the movies where the horses get loaded into the blocks\u2014you know, before the bell rings. They\u2019re kind of scratching at the ground, and they\u2019re ready to go. They\u2019re just waiting for the gun to go off. I\u2019ve been watching you the last few months around here\u2014and we have this event coming up in August that we\u2019ve not shared with our listeners\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I wondered where you were going with this.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You wonder, \u201cWhat\u2019s a horse race got to do with this?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I just feel a bit like I\u2019m in the blocks, right now.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You\u2019ve been scratching at the dirt on this one for awhile. [Laughter] You\u2019re pretty excited about what is going to be happening on August 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, in Chicago, at the Allstate Arena; August 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, in Portland, Oregon, at the Moda Center; and then on Saturday, October 4<sup>th<\/sup>, at the Verizon Center in downtown Washington, DC. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>3:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe have a special event that\u2019s going to be happening in these three cities, and you can\u2019t wait for it to get here!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I\u2019m excited because in these three arenas that you\u2019re talking about\u2014somewhere between 14-18,000 people are going to fill each of those arenas. We are going to let the nation of people\u2014who I think are out there, Bob\u2014who I believe have a pent-up demand to say: \u201cYou know what? I really don\u2019t like all of what is being promoted and talked about on television. I stand for family, as God designed it. I want to join with you and Barbara, and Bob and Mary Ann\u2014to stand with FamilyLife\u2014and say, \u2018We are for marriage.\u2019\u201d It\u2019s not about getting negative on anything. It\u2019s a matter of standing<em> for<\/em> marriage and family, as God designed it.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>4:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So\u2014the one-day event that\u2019s going to feature our friend, Dr. Al Mohler, Crawford and Karen Loritts, you and your wife Barbara are going to be there, David Nasser is going to be joining us, Shaunti Feldhahn, and Ron Deal. We have Andrew Peterson coming to do a concert. This is a one-day\u2014is it a rally or is it an equipping event\u2014how would you describe it?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I\u2019d describe it as \u201call of the above.\u201d It is a rally\u2014it\u2019s going to equip people, it\u2019s going to challenge people, it is going to unleash people\u2014that simple. So they\u2019re going to hear a lot of great, biblical teaching around the most sacred promise two people ever make to one another on the planet\u2014their marriage vows. We\u2019re just going to highlight that and talk about it in wholesome, practical ways. They\u2019ll get a little manual and have some notes they can take and some projects they can complete. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>5:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s just a lot of fun, Bob, because we\u2019ve done these in the past. Back in the late \u201890s \/ the early 2000s, we had a number of these events\u2014I think about 40 events\u2014and had close to 400,000 people come out to these events. I, basically, looked at what\u2019s happening in our country and I said: \u201cYou know, that was a timely message back then. It is even [timelier] today.\u201d It seems, to me, that the Christian community needs to rally around marriage\u2014not poke a stick in anybody\u2019s eye, or be hateful to anybody \/ speak against anybody\u2014just stand up\u2014with a wholesome spirit \/ the love of Christ\u2014and speak about marriage because our God created it. He knows how to make it work.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So, the day is called \u201cI Still Do.\u201d<sup>\u2122<\/sup> The focus of the day is to say: \u201cWhat God intended for marriage is a good thing. When we enter into it\u2014when we do it His way\u2014it\u2019s a good thing for us; and it\u2019s a good thing for the society in which we live.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>6:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>It is. Our nation is made up of a lot of families. When the family gets it right and builds a moral and spiritual foundation in the lives of the children that it raises, then the nation can begin to reflect the morality of the family. On the other hand, when the family is falling apart\u2014when the family isn\u2019t sticking to its responsibility\u2014then a generation of young people arise that aren\u2019t sure who they are, what they are, or what they believe and how to live. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI think we\u2019re seeing that right now. I think there\u2019s a generation of young people who are lost\u2014and who have their marching orders from digital media, television, the internet. I mean, there\u2019s a lot of messaging taking place today that, in my opinion, has drowned out the family. I think there\u2019s a need for our collective voice to come together as one.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>7:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>There are millions of couples today who have bypassed marriage altogether or are, at least, delaying marriage and saying, \u201cWe\u2019re not sure that marriage is either relevant,\u201d or, \u201cWe\u2019re scared,\u201d or whatever else. They\u2019re moving in together.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I get that.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>They\u2019re living together.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Sure.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>They\u2019re just not sure about marriage. Why is that?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I understand that they\u2019ve looked at their parents\u2014it didn\u2019t work for their parents; or maybe, it worked poorly. They\u2019ve lost hope in marriage. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI think, ultimately, they still think marriage is the place where two people can have a future together because marriage is the one relationship in life that is forged with a pledge\u2014with a promise. I think it\u2019s time to elevate the promise\u2014talk about it in a positive way\u2014what it means, the power of a promise, the safety that a promise creates between two broken people, and also the impact of the promise when it\u2019s kept\u2014however imperfectly we may keep it\u2014upon our children. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>8:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOur children benefit when they see their moms and dads keeping that pledge and that promise. We have no idea the hope that that creates in their hearts\u2014that they, too, someday might be able to enter into a marriage relationship.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>We saw a fresh illustration of the erosion of the marital promise in our hometown when a billboard went up back in February; right?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I was wondering if you were going to go there, Bob. [Laughter] Our listeners are not going to believe this because I just showed a friend a picture of the billboard that went up. I\u2019m not going to mention the name of the company\u2014that\u2019s right\u2014a <em>company <\/em>that put up a billboard that had three past presidents. Their finger was up against their lips, going, \u201cShhhhhhh!\u201d\u2014like they were keeping a secret\u2014with an American flag wrapped behind these presidents. The statement on the billboard said: \u201cWho says cheaters don\u2019t prosper?\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThen, there was listed an international company that offers \u201cAn affair to remember.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>They promote\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014infidelity \/ adultery\u2014how else do you say it? They\u2019re trying to make money off of destroying the most sacred promise two people ever make. They justify it by saying: \u201cYou know, people are going to cheat. So why don\u2019t we create a safe way for people to cheat?\u201d By the way\u2014\u201cSo we can make money as we hook people up outside of their marriage relationship.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI just have to say\u2014I was looking at this billboard, and I can\u2019t begin to describe how it made me feel\u2014that, first of all, it was occurring; secondly, that it was occurring in my hometown, here, of Little Rock; and third\u2014I just started thinking about my grandkids. I thought, \u201cI don\u2019t want my grandkids driving by a billboard like that\u2014that\u2019s promoting adultery!\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And I just thought about the marriage promise. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s a promise of fidelity. It\u2019s a promise of two people so they can trust each other, and they can go the distance in their marriage. So, as God would have it, He raised up a businessman, who came to me. He said, \u201cYou know, you need to go ahead and do something about that.\u201d I said, \u201cIf you\u2019ll pay for it, I\u2019ll do it.\u201d [Laughter] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe businessman underwrote the cost of coming up with a billboard. It says, with the same American flag wrapped in the background\u2014it says, \u201cWhen spouses cheat, others get hurt.\u201d There is a spouse and a couple of children wrapped up in one another\u2019s arms. We wanted to bring home the reality that, when you cheat\u2014your spouse gets hurt, your children get hurt, and your legacy is scarred for a lifetime. I have some very good friends who, they would say, are still in the process of recovering from adultery. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s like setting off an atomic bomb in your marriage.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>And you didn\u2019t put up the billboard\u2014we didn\u2019t put it up to try to shame people who have committed adultery.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>No! As I said, I have friends who I love dearly and have, frankly, admired how they have repented\u2014how they have come clean and dealt appropriately with their spouses. And yet, what it\u2019s done, Bob\u2014is it\u2019s given us an opportunity to make a statement in our community. We\u2019re just challenging people: \u201cKeep your vows.\u201d That\u2019s at the bottom of the billboard. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI just think today\u2014if you just pull back on the culture\u2014how many things do you know of that are calling people to marital fidelity, calling them to celebrate the promise they made, who are reminding them of the power of that promise\u2014that it\u2019s two people who love each other for a lifetime? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI just don\u2019t know of a lot of things, Bob\u2014other than this radio broadcast and local churches, all over the country, that are encouraging people to keep their vows \/ keep their promises. It\u2019s really what\u2019s behind \u201cI Still Do.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes\u2014\u201cI Still Do\u201d on Saturday, August 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, at the Allstate Arena in Chicago; and then on Saturday, August 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, at the Moda Center in Portland; and then Saturday, October 4<sup>th<\/sup>,at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. This is like a giant one-day billboard that\u2019s going up in these cities to say, \u201cThere are a lot of people here who think keeping your covenant\u2014pledging yourselves to one another \/ figuring out how to make a marriage work\u2014these are good things for us, as people, and for our communities.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>They are healthy things to do; and you know how the event ends, Bob. I mean, there are a number of things we do, throughout the day, to encourage couples to keep their promises; but at the end of the day, everybody leaves the event with a frame-able marriage covenant. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>13:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI have a great story to tell; in fact, that just happened a couple of months ago on the <em>Love Like You Mean It<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup> cruise. I was in a meeting on the cruise with about 250 people, who were there to hear Barbara and me speak. I opened it up for questions at the end. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOne woman held her hand up. I took the microphone over to her. She said, \u201cMy son came home the other day\u2014, my adult son\u2014and he said, \u2018Mom \/ Dad, I\u2019ve met the young lady that I want to spend the rest of my life with.\u2019\u201d She said, kind of appropriately\u2014she said, [whispering] \u201cWell, we didn\u2019t know the young lady. We thought, \u2018Well, we\u2019re excited for you, son. We trust you, but\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Trust, but verify it.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>She didn\u2019t \u201ctrust but verify,\u201d at that point. She said it wasn\u2019t but a couple weeks later till the parents of the young lady invited the young man, and her, and her husband to go over there. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tShe said: \u201cMy husband and I had attended \u2018I Still Do,\u2019 back about a decade ago. When we left, you gave a marriage covenant. We had signed it. We had had our kids witness it, and it\u2019s hanging in our house.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tShe said, \u201cWhen we walked in the young lady\u2019s house, guess what we saw in a prominent place of that house? It was a signed \u2018I Still Do\u2019 marriage covenant that had been witnessed by the kids.\u201d She was weeping as she said this\u2014she said, \u201cNow, I know that that doesn\u2019t answer all the questions; but I knew we were in the right place\u2014that the young lady had seen something similar to what our son had seen in us.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBob, I really believe this event is about this generation today and helping them keep their marriage promise; but it\u2019s also about the next generation of young people today who are coming up, in my opinion, in one of the most challenging cultures that young people could possibly grow up in. There are so many different messages and so many avenues of getting to them with distortions or with things that aren\u2019t true. I just think, \u201cIf there\u2019s ever been a time we need to rally together, as a Christian community on behalf of marriage, as God designed it, it\u2019s today.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>When we contacted Dr. Al Mohler, who is the President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky\u2014a well-known author and speaker \/ many of our listeners know Dr. Mohler\u2014we contacted him and said, \u201cIs there any way you could join us for these events next fall?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes; he said, \u201cNo!\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>He said\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014 I can\u2019t do it.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014\u201cI\u2019m looking at my schedule. I wish I could, but I can\u2019t.\u201d We said, \u201cWell, we wish you could too.\u201d Then, three days later, I got a call back from his secretary. She said, \u201cDr. Mohler is trying to rearrange his schedule so that he can be at these events.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>16:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI talked to him later; and I said, \u201cThanks for scrambling.\u201d He said, \u201cYou know, this is important.\u201d He said: \u201cThe condition of marriage in our culture today is so critical. We\u2019re at a critical juncture. There\u2019s never been a season before like the season we\u2019re in, where Christians need to say: \u2018God\u2019s design for marriage is a wonderful thing. It\u2019s a glorious thing. It\u2019s a <em>joyful <\/em>thing.\u2019\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat\u2019s what this day is really all about\u2014sending that message, reinforcing it with one another, learning how to do it better, and then saying to our friends and neighbors: \u201cGod\u2019s plan works. It\u2019s a good plan, and you need to check this out.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I think one of the reasons why marriage has come under assault in the last few years is because we, who are followers of Jesus Christ, have really not done a good job of keeping our own homes in order. Unfortunately, we weren\u2019t building up marriages, equipping marriages, and celebrating success in marriages nearly often enough. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>17:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI mean, we ought to be celebrating couples on their 25<sup>th<\/sup>, their 35<sup>th<\/sup>, 40<sup>th<\/sup>, 45, 50, 60, and beyond. I just had a friend who said his dad just died. He said, \u201cMy dad and my mom had been married for <em>71 <\/em>years.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI think we have to find some fresh ways to let the saints\u2014the patriarchs\u2014the folks who have walked the long road, and they haven\u2019t quit. And they did make it work. They hung in there\u2014maybe for not all the right reasons and maybe not perfectly\u2014because none of us are doing it perfectly. But you know what? They kept their promise, and they didn\u2019t quit. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat\u2019s really what I want to see happen at \u201cI Still Do.\u201d I want to talk to people who are doing it. I also want to talk to people about how they can leave \u201cI Still Do\u201d with a very simple plan\u2014not only for their own marriage, to make it better\u2014but <em>also<\/em> how to help the marriages and families in their neighborhoods, their communities, their church, and make a difference all across the country. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>18:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI think we can literally touch a half-million people by virtue of the simulcast we\u2019re having on October 4<sup>th<\/sup>, when we meet together at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. I think\u2014between the people who come live \/ the people who come and watch online, around the world, by the way\u2014it\u2019s a global simulcast\u2014I think we\u2019re going to touch hundreds of thousands of people. What I hope to do is stir a spiritual awakening around returning to God\u2019s blueprints for marriage and family.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>And you know\u2014to go to your kids and say: \u201cHey, Mom and Dad are going to be gone for the day on this particular Saturday. We have it lined up. You\u2019re going to be with your friends on that day,\u201d or, \u201cThere\u2019s going to be a babysitter coming. Here\u2019s why Mom and Dad are going to a one-day marriage event called \u2018I Still Do.\u2019\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>19:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou\u2019re sending a message to your kids.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Oh, yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You\u2019re saying to them: \u201cThis relationship between the two of us is something that\u2019s so important we invest in it. You can feel good about the home you live in because Mom and Dad are committed to one another.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I had a conversation with a friend, named Ron, this morning. He was saying: \u201cOh, we can\u2019t go on this thing. We can\u2019t leave our daughter.\u201d I said: \u201cLook. Your daughter\u2019s going to do just fine.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u201cIf you\u2019ll invest this day in your marriage\u2014for this weekend\u2014this one weekend\u2014there are 51 other weekends throughout the year. The service was over in the morning. They said: \u201cYou know, I don\u2019t know what time your flight heads out; but right across from the airport, in Lexington, there is a phenomenal happening out there in the afternoon. If you have a few moments, you ought to go over there.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>2:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd, honestly, Bob, it was $5\u2014and it was some of the cheapest entertainment I have ever seen because I watch people. It was fascinating. [Laughter] You\u2019re pretty excited about what is going to be happening on August 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, in Chicago, at the Allstate Arena; August 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, in Portland, Oregon, at the Moda Center; and then on Saturday, October 4<sup>th<\/sup>, at the Verizon Center in downtown Washington, DC. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>3:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe have a special event that\u2019s going to be happening in these three cities, and you can\u2019t wait for it to get here!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I\u2019m excited because in these three arenas that you\u2019re talking about\u2014somewhere between 14-18,000 people are going to fill each of those arenas. We are going to let the nation of people\u2014who I think are out there, Bob\u2014who I believe have a pent-up demand to say: \u201cYou know what? I really don\u2019t like all of what is being promoted and talked about on television. I stand for family, as God designed it. I want to join with you and Barbara, and Bob and Mary Ann\u2014to stand with FamilyLife\u2014and say, \u2018We are for marriage.\u2019\u201d It\u2019s not about getting negative on anything. It\u2019s a matter of standing<em> for<\/em> marriage and family, as God designed it.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>4:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So\u2014the one-day event that\u2019s going to feature our friend, Dr. Al Mohler, Crawford and Karen Loritts, you and your wife Barbara are going to be there, David Nasser is going to be joining us, Shaunti Feldhahn, and Ron Deal. We have Andrew Peterson coming to do a concert. This is a one-day\u2014is it a rally or is it an equipping event\u2014how would you describe it?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I\u2019d describe it as \u201call of the above.\u201d It is a rally\u2014it\u2019s going to equip people, it\u2019s going to challenge people, it is going to unleash people\u2014that simple. So they\u2019re going to hear a lot of great, biblical teaching around the most sacred promise two people ever make to one another on the planet\u2014their marriage vows. We\u2019re just going to highlight that and talk about it in wholesome, practical ways. They\u2019ll get a little manual and have some notes they can take and some projects they can complete. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>5:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s just a lot of fun, Bob, because we\u2019ve done these in the past. Back in the late \u201890s \/ the early 2000s, we had a number of these events\u2014I think about 40 events\u2014and had close to 400,000 people come out to these events. I, basically, looked at what\u2019s happening in our country and I said: \u201cYou know, that was a timely message back then. It is even [timelier] today.\u201d It seems, to me, that the Christian community needs to rally around marriage\u2014not poke a stick in anybody\u2019s eye, or be hateful to anybody \/ speak against anybody\u2014just stand up\u2014with a wholesome spirit \/ the love of Christ\u2014and speak about marriage because our God created it. He knows how to make it work.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>So, the day is called \u201cI Still Do.\u201d<sup>\u2122<\/sup> The focus of the day is to say: \u201cWhat God intended for marriage is a good thing. When we enter into it\u2014when we do it His way\u2014it\u2019s a good thing for us; and it\u2019s a good thing for the society in which we live.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>6:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>It is. Our nation is made up of a lot of families. When the family gets it right and builds a moral and spiritual foundation in the lives of the children that it raises, then the nation can begin to reflect the morality of the family. On the other hand, when the family is falling apart\u2014when the family isn\u2019t sticking to its responsibility\u2014then a generation of young people arise that aren\u2019t sure who they are, what they are, or what they believe and how to live. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI think we\u2019re seeing that right now. I think there\u2019s a generation of young people who are lost\u2014and who have their marching orders from digital media, television, the internet. I mean, there\u2019s a lot of messaging taking place today that, in my opinion, has drowned out the family. I think there\u2019s a need for our collective voice to come together as one.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>7:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>There are millions of couples today who have bypassed marriage altogether or are, at least, delaying marriage and saying, \u201cWe\u2019re not sure that marriage is either relevant,\u201d or, \u201cWe\u2019re scared,\u201d or whatever else. They\u2019re moving in together.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I get that.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>They\u2019re living together.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Sure.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>They\u2019re just not sure about marriage. Why is that?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I understand that they\u2019ve looked at their parents\u2014it didn\u2019t work for their parents; or maybe, it worked poorly. They\u2019ve lost hope in marriage. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI think, ultimately, they still think marriage is the place where two people can have a future together because marriage is the one relationship in life that is forged with a pledge\u2014with a promise. I think it\u2019s time to elevate the promise\u2014talk about it in a positive way\u2014what it means, the power of a promise, the safety that a promise creates between two broken people, and also the impact of the promise when it\u2019s kept\u2014however imperfectly we may keep it\u2014upon our children. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>8:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOur children benefit when they see their moms and dads keeping that pledge and that promise. We have no idea the hope that that creates in their hearts\u2014that they, too, someday might be able to enter into a marriage relationship.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>We saw a fresh illustration of the erosion of the marital promise in our hometown when a billboard went up back in February; right?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I was wondering if you were going to go there, Bob. [Laughter] Our listeners are not going to believe this because I just showed a friend a picture of the billboard that went up. I\u2019m not going to mention the name of the company\u2014that\u2019s right\u2014a <em>company <\/em>that put up a billboard that had three past presidents. Their finger was up against their lips, going, \u201cShhhhhhh!\u201d\u2014like they were keeping a secret\u2014with an American flag wrapped behind these presidents. The statement on the billboard said: \u201cWho says cheaters don\u2019t prosper?\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThen, there was listed an international company that offers \u201cAn affair to remember.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>They promote\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014infidelity \/ adultery\u2014how else do you say it? They\u2019re trying to make money off of destroying the most sacred promise two people ever make. They justify it by saying: \u201cYou know, people are going to cheat. So why don\u2019t we create a safe way for people to cheat?\u201d By the way\u2014\u201cSo we can make money as we hook people up outside of their marriage relationship.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI just have to say\u2014I was looking at this billboard, and I can\u2019t begin to describe how it made me feel\u2014that, first of all, it was occurring; secondly, that it was occurring in my hometown, here, of Little Rock; and third\u2014I just started thinking about my grandkids. I thought, \u201cI don\u2019t want my grandkids driving by a billboard like that\u2014that\u2019s promoting adultery!\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>And I just thought about the marriage promise. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s a promise of fidelity. It\u2019s a promise of two people so they can trust each other, and they can go the distance in their marriage. So, as God would have it, He raised up a businessman, who came to me. He said, \u201cYou know, you need to go ahead and do something about that.\u201d I said, \u201cIf you\u2019ll pay for it, I\u2019ll do it.\u201d [Laughter] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe businessman underwrote the cost of coming up with a billboard. It says, with the same American flag wrapped in the background\u2014it says, \u201cWhen spouses cheat, others get hurt.\u201d There is a spouse and a couple of children wrapped up in one another\u2019s arms. We wanted to bring home the reality that, when you cheat\u2014your spouse gets hurt, your children get hurt, and your legacy is scarred for a lifetime. I have some very good friends who, they would say, are still in the process of recovering from adultery. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s like setting off an atomic bomb in your marriage.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>And you didn\u2019t put up the billboard\u2014we didn\u2019t put it up to try to shame people who have committed adultery.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>No! As I said, I have friends who I love dearly and have, frankly, admired how they have repented\u2014how they have come clean and dealt appropriately with their spouses. And yet, what it\u2019s done, Bob\u2014is it\u2019s given us an opportunity to make a statement in our community. We\u2019re just challenging people: \u201cKeep your vows.\u201d That\u2019s at the bottom of the billboard. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI just think today\u2014if you just pull back on the culture\u2014how many things do you know of that are calling people to marital fidelity, calling them to celebrate the promise they made, who are reminding them of the power of that promise\u2014that it\u2019s two people who love each other for a lifetime? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI just don\u2019t know of a lot of things, Bob\u2014other than this radio broadcast and local churches, all over the country, that are encouraging people to keep their vows \/ keep their promises. It\u2019s really what\u2019s behind \u201cI Still Do.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes\u2014\u201cI Still Do\u201d on Saturday, August 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, at the Allstate Arena in Chicago; and then on Saturday, August 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, at the Moda Center in Portland; and then Saturday, October 4<sup>th<\/sup>,at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. This is like a giant one-day billboard that\u2019s going up in these cities to say, \u201cThere are a lot of people here who think keeping your covenant\u2014pledging yourselves to one another \/ figuring out how to make a marriage work\u2014these are good things for us, as people, and for our communities.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>They are healthy things to do; and you know how the event ends, Bob. I mean, there are a number of things we do, throughout the day, to encourage couples to keep their promises; but at the end of the day, everybody leaves the event with a frame-able marriage covenant. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>13:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI have a great story to tell; in fact, that just happened a couple of months ago on the <em>Love Like You Mean It<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup> cruise. I was in a meeting on the cruise with about 250 people, who were there to hear Barbara and me speak. I opened it up for questions at the end. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOne woman held her hand up. I took the microphone over to her. She said, \u201cMy son came home the other day\u2014, my adult son\u2014and he said, \u2018Mom \/ Dad, I\u2019ve met the young lady that I want to spend the rest of my life with.\u2019\u201d She said, kind of appropriately\u2014she said, [whispering] \u201cWell, we didn\u2019t know the young lady. We thought, \u2018Well, we\u2019re excited for you, son. We trust you, but\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Trust, but verify it.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>She didn\u2019t \u201ctrust but verify,\u201d at that point. She said it wasn\u2019t but a couple weeks later till the parents of the young lady invited the young man, and her, and her husband to go over there. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tShe said: \u201cMy husband and I had attended \u2018I Still Do,\u2019 back about a decade ago. When we left, you gave a marriage covenant. We had signed it. We had had our kids witness it, and it\u2019s hanging in our house.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tShe said, \u201cWhen we walked in the young lady\u2019s house, guess what we saw in a prominent place of that house? It was a signed \u2018I Still Do\u2019 marriage covenant that had been witnessed by the kids.\u201d She was weeping as she said this\u2014she said, \u201cNow, I know that that doesn\u2019t answer all the questions; but I knew we were in the right place\u2014that the young lady had seen something similar to what our son had seen in us.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBob, I really believe this event is about this generation today and helping them keep their marriage promise; but it\u2019s also about the next generation of young people today who are coming up, in my opinion, in one of the most challenging cultures that young people could possibly grow up in. There are so many different messages and so many avenues of getting to them with distortions or with things that aren\u2019t true. I just think, \u201cIf there\u2019s ever been a time we need to rally together, as a Christian community on behalf of marriage, as God designed it, it\u2019s today.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>When we contacted Dr. Al Mohler, who is the President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky\u2014a well-known author and speaker \/ many of our listeners know Dr. Mohler\u2014we contacted him and said, \u201cIs there any way you could join us for these events next fall?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Yes; he said, \u201cNo!\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>He said\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u2014 I can\u2019t do it.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>\u2014\u201cI\u2019m looking at my schedule. I wish I could, but I can\u2019t.\u201d We said, \u201cWell, we wish you could too.\u201d Then, three days later, I got a call back from his secretary. She said, \u201cDr. Mohler is trying to rearrange his schedule so that he can be at these events.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>16:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI talked to him later; and I said, \u201cThanks for scrambling.\u201d He said, \u201cYou know, this is important.\u201d He said: \u201cThe condition of marriage in our culture today is so critical. We\u2019re at a critical juncture. There\u2019s never been a season before like the season we\u2019re in, where Christians need to say: \u2018God\u2019s design for marriage is a wonderful thing. It\u2019s a glorious thing. It\u2019s a <em>joyful <\/em>thing.\u2019\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat\u2019s what this day is really all about\u2014sending that message, reinforcing it with one another, learning how to do it better, and then saying to our friends and neighbors: \u201cGod\u2019s plan works. It\u2019s a good plan, and you need to check this out.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I think one of the reasons why marriage has come under assault in the last few years is because we, who are followers of Jesus Christ, have really not done a good job of keeping our own homes in order. Unfortunately, we weren\u2019t building up marriages, equipping marriages, and celebrating success in marriages nearly often enough. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>17:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI mean, we ought to be celebrating couples on their 25<sup>th<\/sup>, their 35<sup>th<\/sup>, 40<sup>th<\/sup>, 45, 50, 60, and beyond. I just had a friend who said his dad just died. He said, \u201cMy dad and my mom had been married for <em>71 <\/em>years.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI think we have to find some fresh ways to let the saints\u2014the patriarchs\u2014the folks who have walked the long road, and they haven\u2019t quit. And they did make it work. They hung in there\u2014maybe for not all the right reasons and maybe not perfectly\u2014because none of us are doing it perfectly. But you know what? They kept their promise, and they didn\u2019t quit. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat\u2019s really what I want to see happen at \u201cI Still Do.\u201d I want to talk to people who are doing it. I also want to talk to people about how they can leave \u201cI Still Do\u201d with a very simple plan\u2014not only for their own marriage, to make it better\u2014but <em>also<\/em> how to help the marriages and families in their neighborhoods, their communities, their church, and make a difference all across the country. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>18:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI think we can literally touch a half-million people by virtue of the simulcast we\u2019re having on October 4<sup>th<\/sup>, when we meet together at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. I think\u2014between the people who come live \/ the people who come and watch online, around the world, by the way\u2014it\u2019s a global simulcast\u2014I think we\u2019re going to touch hundreds of thousands of people. What I hope to do is stir a spiritual awakening around returning to God\u2019s blueprints for marriage and family.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>And you know\u2014to go to your kids and say: \u201cHey, Mom and Dad are going to be gone for the day on this particular Saturday. We have it lined up. You\u2019re going to be with your friends on that day,\u201d or, \u201cThere\u2019s going to be a babysitter coming. Here\u2019s why Mom and Dad are going to a one-day marriage event called \u2018I Still Do.\u2019\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>19:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou\u2019re sending a message to your kids.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Oh, yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>You\u2019re saying to them: \u201cThis relationship between the two of us is something that\u2019s so important we invest in it. You can feel good about the home you live in because Mom and Dad are committed to one another.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>I had a conversation with a friend, named Ron, this morning. He was saying: \u201cOh, we can\u2019t go on this thing. We can\u2019t leave our daughter.\u201d I said: \u201cLook. Your daughter\u2019s going to do just fine.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob: <\/strong>Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>\u201cIf you\u2019ll invest this day in your marriage\u2014for this weekend\u2014this one weekend\u2014there are 51 other weekends throughout the year.
