Many of you know Alex from his movie, <em>Courageous<\/em>\u2014also, <em>Fireproof<\/em>, <em>Facing the Giants<\/em>. And Alex is a kindred spirit. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> He is passionate about marriage and family. In fact, we were talking about their new movie, which they are getting ready to start shooting. He said they may bring it on the cruise with them next year and let us have a sneak preview of that movie. It\u2019s got a marriage theme attached to it, as well. But he spoke, on the cruise, on the subject of marriage\u2014and talked about the importance of us believing the best about our spouse and really focusing on the blessing that our spouse is. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And what I like about his message\u2014he was really talking about something that God had been doing in his heart, over the past four months, both in his and Christina\u2019s marriage.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>4:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd nothing like kind of getting some freshly-baked cookies, you know?\u2014something that is going on, currently, in somebody\u2019s life. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t[Recorded Message]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Alex:<\/strong> Four months ago, the Lord taught me something that has really changed my marriage. Christina and I have been married about 18-and-a-half years. I want to share that with you tonight. It all has to do with the battle of the mind. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhen we look at\u2014who we are, what we believe, how we behave\u2014we must eventually trace it back to how we processed thoughts in our mind. In other words: your actions, your emotions, your decisions, your speech\u2014all follow what you believe in your mind. And what you believe will direct what you do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou may say you believe one thing, but what you really believe will come out in your actions. In like manner, your true belief about God will determine your relationship to Him\u2014your closeness to Him, your communication, your trust in Him or lack thereof\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>5:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tare controlled by what you think and believe\u2014when we talk about the heart and the mind. In Proverbs 23, verse 7, it says this\u2014and you\u2019ve heard this before: \u201cAs he thinks in his heart, so is he,\u201d\u2014mind and heart permanently connected. That\u2019s why Satan attacks your thought life more than any other area. If he can get a stronghold in your mind\u2014which leads to your beliefs\u2014<em>everything<\/em> will be impacted. Let\u2019s talk about the difference between a foothold and a stronghold for a minute. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tA foothold is when he gets an idea or a concept\u2014and he gets that foot in, and he gets you just to entertain the thought. Then, he begins to nurture it. If he can slowly widen the door\u2014whatever it is\u2014a temptation, a sin, a grievance\u2014whatever it is, he tries to get a little bit in, a little bit in, a little bit in. He starts trying to put down roots. If it stays there long enough, it becomes a stronghold\u2014the roots get deeper, and it\u2019s much harder to get it out. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>6:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThink of Normandy. When I think of a stronghold, I think of when the troops came upon the beach. The enemy didn\u2019t just have a foothold. They weren\u2019t just behind shrubbery and there early. They had time to develop a <em>stronghold<\/em>\u2014<em>concrete bunkers<\/em>. It took a heavy price to root them out. There\u2019s a difference between a foothold and a stronghold, and both start in the mind. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn the simplest terms, a stronghold is when you believe a lie or a network of lies. Let\u2019s talk about what that looks like. A stronghold could be an unhealthy fear\u2014fear of dying, disease, lack of provision. This fear believes that God is not in control. That\u2019s one unhealthy stronghold. Let\u2019s look at another: bitterness. Bitterness is believing that you should take the seat of judgment against someone for a wrong done to you because God won\u2019t handle it. A stronghold could be an addiction\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>7:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\talcohol, drugs, pornography\u2014this is believing that God is not enough to fill and satisfy me. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tRemember, a stronghold is believing a lie or a network of lies. So, when you are addicted, you\u2019re saying: \u201cI need this! I need this!\u201d And then, you also\u2014Satan will also tell you: \u201cYou can control it. You can stop any time you want to.\u201d But you can\u2019t on your own power. Bitterness, addictions, unhealthy fears\u2014these are strongholds. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m going to read to you from 2 Corinthians 10:3-5: \u201cFor though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments, every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity for the obedience of Christ.\u201d We\u2019re going to come back to that concept\u2014\u201cbringing every thought into captivity.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, all this stuff starts in your mind. Satan will introduce a truth mixed with a lie. He tries to get a foothold\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>8:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tgets those roots down. If you don\u2019t take that thought captive\u2014that idea\u2014the deeper it goes and becomes a <em>strong<\/em>hold. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, we\u2019re going to get more into marriage in just a second; but this is Ephesians 6:12. We\u2019re going to study this for just a second. It says, \u201cFor we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places.\u201d Now, what I want to point out about this is\u2014we do not use physical weapons to fight spiritual battles. And you and I are good at that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe have this issue over here\u2014and we get physically angry\u2014slam the door, throw something down, get into heated arguments with our spouse. You do not fight spiritual battles with physical weapons. But the Lord gives us the right weapons\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience:<\/strong> Yes, sir. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Alex:<\/strong> \u2014to fight. Let\u2019s talk about that for a minute. Your enemy\u2014your enemy is <em>not <\/em>your spouse. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience:<\/strong> Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Alex:<\/strong> We have a very real enemy named Satan. The enemy is him and his demonic kingdom. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHis desire is to conquer and control you, and he starts with your thought life. If he can make a stronghold, he wages war against God. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSince there is a battle\u2014and it is with Satan and his forces\u2014what are we told to do? In Ephesians 6:11\u2014listen to what it says\u2014\u201cPut on the whole armor of God so you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.\u201d Then, in 13\u2014Ephesians 6:13\u2014it says, \u201cTherefore, take up the full armor of God so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.\u201d We are to <em>stand <\/em>firm. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhat are we doing while we\u2019re standing firm?\u2014\u201cpraying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end, with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints,\u201d\u2014when we do this\u2014that is the first step toward having the mind of Christ. When we are in Christ, God gives us a new mind. And Satan hates that! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, he comes after it, and he comes after it, and he comes after it. That\u2019s why, in Romans 12:2, it says, \u201cDon\u2019t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience:<\/strong> Renewing. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Alex:<\/strong> \u2014\u201crenewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable and the perfect will of God.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, I\u2019m going to talk about fighting defensively and offensively. Defensively\u2014James 4:7 says, \u201cResist the devil and he will\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience:<\/strong> Flee. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Alex:<\/strong> \u2014\u201cflee.\u201d So, this first applies to our thoughts. I\u2019m going to give you something here. This is going to seem real quirky, at first. Moms in here will know what this is, first\u2014but the five-second rule in dealing with food; right? [Laughter] You\u2019re fixing your kid\u2019s lunch\u2014you\u2019re working in the church nursery\u2014and you\u2019re handing out the Oreos<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u2014whatever\u2014and one falls in the floor. You grab it [sounds of blowing on food] and say, \u201cFive-second rule\u2014still okay;\u201d right? [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, if you find a cookie under the diaper changing table, and some kid is crawling over to it\u2014you see it. You go: \u201cWhoa, whoa, whoa! No, no, no! Don\u2019t eat that one. We don\u2019t know how long it\u2019s been there;\u201d right? [Laughter] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBecause the longer it\u2019s been there, the more corrupted it is; right? You throw that out. What if we apply the five-second rule to your thought life and you say: \u201cThat was not of the Lord,\u201d\u2014Boom!\u2014\u201cI reject that. Cast that out.\u201d You control your thoughts or your thoughts will control you. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSatan tries to hinder your communication. So, we have to fight. First, defensively\u2014Ephesians 6:16 says, \u201cAfter all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to distinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.\u201d \u201cBy faith: \u201cI\u2019m not believing that because Scripture says this.\u201d He throws this temptation\u2014block it\u2014and, \u201cI reject it.\u201d So, I\u2019m fighting, defensively, first. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd I want to keep in mind that temptation is not a sin\u2014it\u2019s when you act on it. Jesus was tempted. Remember, He went in the wilderness for 40 days. Satan tempted Him, and tempted Him, and tempted Him. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd what did He use to combat him?\u2014 Scripture\u2014the Word. He blocks it\u2014Boom! Offensive weapon is the Word of God\u2014the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tA sword is an offensive weapon meant to tear down and destroy the enemy. This is exactly what meditating on the truth of God\u2019s Word does to strongholds\u2014it tears them down. Sometimes, guys, it doesn\u2019t\u2014it may take longer than a day or a week\u2014just like when you think of Normandy. Some of you may have an addiction or bitterness, and it\u2019s so deep it may not happen in a day; but it can be rooted out. It can happen. Satan says: \u201cYou\u2019re a failure. I mean, look at your past.\u201d God\u2019s Word says: \u201cWhat past? The blood of Jesus has washed it away.\u201d We fight it with the Word of God. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, some of my <em>favorite<\/em> verses\u2014and some of you could probably quote it with me\u2014in Philippians, Chapter 4, verse 8, it says,\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>13:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cFinally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute\u2014if there is any excellence or anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.\u201d That is a choice! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOkay, what I\u2019m about to say, now, I have permission to say. Christina and I have been married, as I said, almost 19 years. We have six children. About 10 years ago, when the Lord began opening the door to do the movies and the books\u2014we did <em>Flywheel<\/em>, <em>Facing the Giants<\/em>, <em>Fireproof<\/em>, and <em>Courageous<\/em>\u2014and helped out with some other Christian films\u2014wrote some: <em>The Love Dare<\/em>, <em>Resolution for Men<\/em>. This whole time\u2014I\u2019m doing what I truly believe God called me to do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, Christina\u2014her love language is service. Mine is words of affirmation. It means a lot to me when people give you an: \u201cAtta, boy!\u201d \u201cWow! You did a great film,\u201d\u2014whatever\u2014\u201cGood book,\u201d\u2014whatever. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, Christina\u2019s is acts of service. I come home; and I say, \u201cOh, this is what happened with this film today!\u201d or, \u201cWe won an award today!\u201d or whatever. She was like: \u201cOkay. Well, where are you going to put it? [Laughter] Don\u2019t put it on the mantle. Matter of fact\u2014let me give you some spray. Would you wipe that mantle off for me? Just dust it really good. I\u2019ll find some place for this.\u201d You know? It would <em>irritate<\/em> me! Sometimes, I felt like she just cared about how clean the house was! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m thinking, \u201cMy wife doesn\u2019t appreciate me very much.\u201d Satan begins to introduce thoughts into my mind: \u201cShe doesn\u2019t respect you like she ought to because you\u2019re doing <em>big<\/em> things for God, and she is just here cleaning the house. Oh, please!\u201d\u2014you know? He starts running her down in my mind, and I accepted those thoughts. And I start getting frustrated with my wife: \u201cShe\u2019s not loving me, respecting me, or supporting me like <em>I <\/em>think she ought to.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong><br><br>We would have arguments\u2014and on a number of occasions\u2014in our bed. You could put like four kids between us. I\u2019m on this side. She is on this side\u2014as far as you can go. My back is to her; her back is to me. We\u2019d have these testy, little, snarky arguments back and forth. You\u2019ve been there. Some of you are like, \u201cUh-huh.\u201d [Laughter] I\u2019m just saying. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn my mind, I would run her down. Sometimes, in her mind, she would run me down. Guys, you do not win those wars. We\u2019re not fighting the right way. Instead of fighting for my marriage, I was fighting her as if she was my enemy. She is <em>not<\/em> my enemy! This is what the Lord taught me in the process. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tFour months ago, I\u2019m studying and getting ready to do our\u2014ramp up and do our next movie and stuff\u2014as I\u2019m with the Lord, and I remember I\u2019m in His Word\u2014and it was like He just kick-boxed me in the head: \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>16:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cAlex, you are running your wife down in your mind. She is not your enemy. The enemy wants to distract you, deceive you, and divide you. Your wife and you are <em>one unit<\/em>. Both of you are sinners, and both of you are in need of My grace. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cAnd Christina\u2014<em>I <\/em>did not design Christina to compete for the spotlight with you, and be up on stage, and be in front of movies. I designed her to have strengths in areas you don\u2019t have. Alex, you do not run the wife\u2014I gave you\u2014down, looking at everything she is not. You look at what she is and how I designed her.\u201d <br>\u00a0\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI began to make a list\u2014rejecting those thoughts\u2014and making a list of\u2014whatever is true about Christina, whatever is honorable about Christina, whatever is right about Christina, \u201cwhatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute. If there is any excellence, anything worthy of praise,\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>17:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<em>dwell on these things<\/em>;\u201d [emphasis added] right? [Applause] The list for her\u2014the positive list\u2014was <em>very long<\/em>. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tGuys\u2014don\u2019t run your spouse down, in your mind. When that\u2014apply that five-second rule\u2014renewing of your mind. If you are in Christ, what do you do? Follow Philippians 4:8. Your spouse is a <em>sinner<\/em>, but they are <em>not<\/em> your enemy. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThere is a real enemy that doesn\u2019t want to be seen! He operates in the shadows, and with lies, and whispers things to you; but you have the shield of faith. You block them, block them, block them; and you apply the Word of God: \u201cThe Lord gave me my spouse. He says we are one unit. We are not enemies. We operate as one unit.\u201d What Satan wants to do is divide, divide, divide, divide. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience:<\/strong> Yes. That\u2019s right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Alex:<\/strong> Don\u2019t do it! He started in the garden of Eden. What does he do to Eve? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>18:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHe distracted, deceived, divided. That is Satan\u2019s strategy: distract her to the one thing she shouldn\u2019t be focused on. He deceives hers so he can divide her and Adam\u2014divide them from relationship with the Lord. Since then\u2014for all time\u2014he\u2019s been doing it. He wants to divide you from your spouse. He will use anything and everything\u2014any bit of ammunition. They have wrongs\u2014I have wrongs\u2014\u2014but I fight <em>for<\/em> our marriage, not against my spouse. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, guys, I don\u2019t know where you are. Some of you may be saying: \u201cOh, man, I agree with that. We\u2019re in love. We are doing this.\u201d And some of you are <em>struggling<\/em> in your marriage. So, the Lord wants you to <em>fight for<\/em> your spouse. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIf you take notes, I\u2019m going to give you a few verses as ammunition: 2 Timothy 1:7, \u201cFor God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power and love and self-control;\u201d James 4:7, \u201cSubmit your souls, therefore, to God.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>19:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cResist the devil and he will flee.\u201d There is <em>power<\/em> in the name of Jesus Christ. A number of times, I\u2019ve said: \u201cSatan, you get out of this house in Jesus\u2019 name. I\u2019m resisting you.\u201d If he gives me a thought, you throw it out. Isaiah 26:3, \u201cYou keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You because he trusts in You.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tLuke 10:27, \u201cAnd He answered, \u2018You shall love the Lord God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.\u201d And Psalm 119:15, \u201cI will meditate on Your precepts and fix my eyes on Your ways.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou must be the number one cheerleader for your spouse. They will <em>not<\/em> always deserve it. Many of you <em>don\u2019t<\/em> deserve it, but we <em>do not deserve<\/em> the love and grace of the Lord. Yet, He continually offers it to us, and offers it to us, and offers it to us. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>20:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, my job\u2014I\u2019m the number one fan and president of the Christina Kendrick Fan Club; right? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience:<\/strong> Woo! [Applause] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Alex:<\/strong> I\u2019m learning to love her with her love language. Sometimes, I\u2019ll come in the door\u2014and you think: \u201cWow! We\u2019ve got\u2026\u201d and, \u201cThe Lord did this\u2026\u201d or, \u201cThe Lord did this\u2026\u201d but, you know, the floors still needs to be swept, and the dishes still need to be washed, and the kids still need to be disciplined. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat\u2019s part of it, guys. It\u2019s all part of it: \u201cLord, help me gain ground in my mind.\u201d I gain ground, and I <em>fight for<\/em> our marriage instead of against my spouse. You may need to apologize to your spouse for something if you\u2019ve allowed Satan to run them down in your mind\u2014kick him out, kick him out, kick him out, kick him out! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t[Studio] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>21:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Well, we\u2019ve been listening to a message from Alex Kendrick, presented just a couple of weeks ago on the <em>Love Like You Mean It<\/em> marriage cruise. I\u2019ll just read to you a passage\u2014only a portion of a passage\u2014Ephesians, Chapter 4, verse 32, \u201cBe kind to one another, tender-hearted\u2026\u201d You know, if we focused on being kind and tender-hearted toward our spouses, our marriages would, I think, begin to blossom in fresh ways. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe easiest thing to do is\u2014to focus on, and become critical, and, perhaps, bitter\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>22:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tabout an area where they are not matching up to our expectations. That\u2019s why what Alex shared is really important, Bob. Many of you know Alex from his movie, <em>Courageous<\/em>\u2014also, <em>Fireproof<\/em>, <em>Facing the Giants<\/em>. And Alex is a kindred spirit. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> He is passionate about marriage and family. In fact, we were talking about their new movie, which they are getting ready to start shooting. He said they may bring it on the cruise with them next year and let us have a sneak preview of that movie. It\u2019s got a marriage theme attached to it, as well. But he spoke, on the cruise, on the subject of marriage\u2014and talked about the importance of us believing the best about our spouse and really focusing on the blessing that our spouse is. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And what I like about his message\u2014he was really talking about something that God had been doing in his heart, over the past four months, both in his and Christina\u2019s marriage.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>4:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd nothing like kind of getting some freshly-baked cookies, you know?\u2014something that is going on, currently, in somebody\u2019s life. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t[Recorded Message]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Alex:<\/strong> Four months ago, the Lord taught me something that has really changed my marriage. Christina and I have been married about 18-and-a-half years. I want to share that with you tonight. It all has to do with the battle of the mind. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhen we look at\u2014who we are, what we believe, how we behave\u2014we must eventually trace it back to how we processed thoughts in our mind. In other words: your actions, your emotions, your decisions, your speech\u2014all follow what you believe in your mind. And what you believe will direct what you do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou may say you believe one thing, but what you really believe will come out in your actions. In like manner, your true belief about God will determine your relationship to Him\u2014your closeness to Him, your communication, your trust in Him or lack thereof\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>5:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tare controlled by what you think and believe\u2014when we talk about the heart and the mind. In Proverbs 23, verse 7, it says this\u2014and you\u2019ve heard this before: \u201cAs he thinks in his heart, so is he,\u201d\u2014mind and heart permanently connected. That\u2019s why Satan attacks your thought life more than any other area. If he can get a stronghold in your mind\u2014which leads to your beliefs\u2014<em>everything<\/em> will be impacted. Let\u2019s talk about the difference between a foothold and a stronghold for a minute. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tA foothold is when he gets an idea or a concept\u2014and he gets that foot in, and he gets you just to entertain the thought. Then, he begins to nurture it. If he can slowly widen the door\u2014whatever it is\u2014a temptation, a sin, a grievance\u2014whatever it is, he tries to get a little bit in, a little bit in, a little bit in. He starts trying to put down roots. If it stays there long enough, it becomes a stronghold\u2014the roots get deeper, and it\u2019s much harder to get it out. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>6:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThink of Normandy. When I think of a stronghold, I think of when the troops came upon the beach. The enemy didn\u2019t just have a foothold. They weren\u2019t just behind shrubbery and there early. They had time to develop a <em>stronghold<\/em>\u2014<em>concrete bunkers<\/em>. It took a heavy price to root them out. There\u2019s a difference between a foothold and a stronghold, and both start in the mind. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn the simplest terms, a stronghold is when you believe a lie or a network of lies. Let\u2019s talk about what that looks like. A stronghold could be an unhealthy fear\u2014fear of dying, disease, lack of provision. This fear believes that God is not in control. That\u2019s one unhealthy stronghold. Let\u2019s look at another: bitterness. Bitterness is believing that you should take the seat of judgment against someone for a wrong done to you because God won\u2019t handle it. A stronghold could be an addiction\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>7:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\talcohol, drugs, pornography\u2014this is believing that God is not enough to fill and satisfy me. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tRemember, a stronghold is believing a lie or a network of lies. So, when you are addicted, you\u2019re saying: \u201cI need this! I need this!\u201d And then, you also\u2014Satan will also tell you: \u201cYou can control it. You can stop any time you want to.\u201d But you can\u2019t on your own power. Bitterness, addictions, unhealthy fears\u2014these are strongholds. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m going to read to you from 2 Corinthians 10:3-5: \u201cFor though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments, every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity for the obedience of Christ.\u201d We\u2019re going to come back to that concept\u2014\u201cbringing every thought into captivity.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, all this stuff starts in your mind. Satan will introduce a truth mixed with a lie. He tries to get a foothold\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>8:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tgets those roots down. If you don\u2019t take that thought captive\u2014that idea\u2014the deeper it goes and becomes a <em>strong<\/em>hold. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, we\u2019re going to get more into marriage in just a second; but this is Ephesians 6:12. We\u2019re going to study this for just a second. It says, \u201cFor we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places.\u201d Now, what I want to point out about this is\u2014we do not use physical weapons to fight spiritual battles. And you and I are good at that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe have this issue over here\u2014and we get physically angry\u2014slam the door, throw something down, get into heated arguments with our spouse. You do not fight spiritual battles with physical weapons. But the Lord gives us the right weapons\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience:<\/strong> Yes, sir. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Alex:<\/strong> \u2014to fight. Let\u2019s talk about that for a minute. Your enemy\u2014your enemy is <em>not <\/em>your spouse. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience:<\/strong> Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Alex:<\/strong> We have a very real enemy named Satan. The enemy is him and his demonic kingdom. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHis desire is to conquer and control you, and he starts with your thought life. If he can make a stronghold, he wages war against God. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSince there is a battle\u2014and it is with Satan and his forces\u2014what are we told to do? In Ephesians 6:11\u2014listen to what it says\u2014\u201cPut on the whole armor of God so you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.\u201d Then, in 13\u2014Ephesians 6:13\u2014it says, \u201cTherefore, take up the full armor of God so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.\u201d We are to <em>stand <\/em>firm. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhat are we doing while we\u2019re standing firm?\u2014\u201cpraying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end, with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints,\u201d\u2014when we do this\u2014that is the first step toward having the mind of Christ. When we are in Christ, God gives us a new mind. And Satan hates that! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, he comes after it, and he comes after it, and he comes after it. That\u2019s why, in Romans 12:2, it says, \u201cDon\u2019t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience:<\/strong> Renewing. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Alex:<\/strong> \u2014\u201crenewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable and the perfect will of God.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, I\u2019m going to talk about fighting defensively and offensively. Defensively\u2014James 4:7 says, \u201cResist the devil and he will\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience:<\/strong> Flee. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Alex:<\/strong> \u2014\u201cflee.\u201d So, this first applies to our thoughts. I\u2019m going to give you something here. This is going to seem real quirky, at first. Moms in here will know what this is, first\u2014but the five-second rule in dealing with food; right? [Laughter] You\u2019re fixing your kid\u2019s lunch\u2014you\u2019re working in the church nursery\u2014and you\u2019re handing out the Oreos<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u2014whatever\u2014and one falls in the floor. You grab it [sounds of blowing on food] and say, \u201cFive-second rule\u2014still okay;\u201d right? [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, if you find a cookie under the diaper changing table, and some kid is crawling over to it\u2014you see it. You go: \u201cWhoa, whoa, whoa! No, no, no! Don\u2019t eat that one. We don\u2019t know how long it\u2019s been there;\u201d right? [Laughter] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBecause the longer it\u2019s been there, the more corrupted it is; right? You throw that out. What if we apply the five-second rule to your thought life and you say: \u201cThat was not of the Lord,\u201d\u2014Boom!\u2014\u201cI reject that. Cast that out.\u201d You control your thoughts or your thoughts will control you. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSatan tries to hinder your communication. So, we have to fight. First, defensively\u2014Ephesians 6:16 says, \u201cAfter all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to distinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.\u201d \u201cBy faith: \u201cI\u2019m not believing that because Scripture says this.\u201d He throws this temptation\u2014block it\u2014and, \u201cI reject it.\u201d So, I\u2019m fighting, defensively, first. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd I want to keep in mind that temptation is not a sin\u2014it\u2019s when you act on it. Jesus was tempted. Remember, He went in the wilderness for 40 days. Satan tempted Him, and tempted Him, and tempted Him. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd what did He use to combat him?\u2014 Scripture\u2014the Word. He blocks it\u2014Boom! Offensive weapon is the Word of God\u2014the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tA sword is an offensive weapon meant to tear down and destroy the enemy. This is exactly what meditating on the truth of God\u2019s Word does to strongholds\u2014it tears them down. Sometimes, guys, it doesn\u2019t\u2014it may take longer than a day or a week\u2014just like when you think of Normandy. Some of you may have an addiction or bitterness, and it\u2019s so deep it may not happen in a day; but it can be rooted out. It can happen. Satan says: \u201cYou\u2019re a failure. I mean, look at your past.\u201d God\u2019s Word says: \u201cWhat past? The blood of Jesus has washed it away.\u201d We fight it with the Word of God. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, some of my <em>favorite<\/em> verses\u2014and some of you could probably quote it with me\u2014in Philippians, Chapter 4, verse 8, it says,\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>13:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cFinally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute\u2014if there is any excellence or anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.\u201d That is a choice! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOkay, what I\u2019m about to say, now, I have permission to say. Christina and I have been married, as I said, almost 19 years. We have six children. About 10 years ago, when the Lord began opening the door to do the movies and the books\u2014we did <em>Flywheel<\/em>, <em>Facing the Giants<\/em>, <em>Fireproof<\/em>, and <em>Courageous<\/em>\u2014and helped out with some other Christian films\u2014wrote some: <em>The Love Dare<\/em>, <em>Resolution for Men<\/em>. This whole time\u2014I\u2019m doing what I truly believe God called me to do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, Christina\u2014her love language is service. Mine is words of affirmation. It means a lot to me when people give you an: \u201cAtta, boy!\u201d \u201cWow! You did a great film,\u201d\u2014whatever\u2014\u201cGood book,\u201d\u2014whatever. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, Christina\u2019s is acts of service. I come home; and I say, \u201cOh, this is what happened with this film today!\u201d or, \u201cWe won an award today!\u201d or whatever. She was like: \u201cOkay. Well, where are you going to put it? [Laughter] Don\u2019t put it on the mantle. Matter of fact\u2014let me give you some spray. Would you wipe that mantle off for me? Just dust it really good. I\u2019ll find some place for this.\u201d You know? It would <em>irritate<\/em> me! Sometimes, I felt like she just cared about how clean the house was! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m thinking, \u201cMy wife doesn\u2019t appreciate me very much.\u201d Satan begins to introduce thoughts into my mind: \u201cShe doesn\u2019t respect you like she ought to because you\u2019re doing <em>big<\/em> things for God, and she is just here cleaning the house. Oh, please!\u201d\u2014you know? He starts running her down in my mind, and I accepted those thoughts. And I start getting frustrated with my wife: \u201cShe\u2019s not loving me, respecting me, or supporting me like <em>I <\/em>think she ought to.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong><br><br>We would have arguments\u2014and on a number of occasions\u2014in our bed. You could put like four kids between us. I\u2019m on this side. She is on this side\u2014as far as you can go. My back is to her; her back is to me. We\u2019d have these testy, little, snarky arguments back and forth. You\u2019ve been there. Some of you are like, \u201cUh-huh.\u201d [Laughter] I\u2019m just saying. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn my mind, I would run her down. Sometimes, in her mind, she would run me down. Guys, you do not win those wars. We\u2019re not fighting the right way. Instead of fighting for my marriage, I was fighting her as if she was my enemy. She is <em>not<\/em> my enemy! This is what the Lord taught me in the process. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tFour months ago, I\u2019m studying and getting ready to do our\u2014ramp up and do our next movie and stuff\u2014as I\u2019m with the Lord, and I remember I\u2019m in His Word\u2014and it was like He just kick-boxed me in the head: \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>16:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cAlex, you are running your wife down in your mind. She is not your enemy. The enemy wants to distract you, deceive you, and divide you. Your wife and you are <em>one unit<\/em>. Both of you are sinners, and both of you are in need of My grace. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cAnd Christina\u2014<em>I <\/em>did not design Christina to compete for the spotlight with you, and be up on stage, and be in front of movies. I designed her to have strengths in areas you don\u2019t have. Alex, you do not run the wife\u2014I gave you\u2014down, looking at everything she is not. You look at what she is and how I designed her.\u201d <br>\u00a0\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI began to make a list\u2014rejecting those thoughts\u2014and making a list of\u2014whatever is true about Christina, whatever is honorable about Christina, whatever is right about Christina, \u201cwhatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute. If there is any excellence, anything worthy of praise,\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>17:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<em>dwell on these things<\/em>;\u201d [emphasis added] right? [Applause] The list for her\u2014the positive list\u2014was <em>very long<\/em>. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tGuys\u2014don\u2019t run your spouse down, in your mind. When that\u2014apply that five-second rule\u2014renewing of your mind. If you are in Christ, what do you do? Follow Philippians 4:8. Your spouse is a <em>sinner<\/em>, but they are <em>not<\/em> your enemy. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThere is a real enemy that doesn\u2019t want to be seen! He operates in the shadows, and with lies, and whispers things to you; but you have the shield of faith. You block them, block them, block them; and you apply the Word of God: \u201cThe Lord gave me my spouse. He says we are one unit. We are not enemies. We operate as one unit.\u201d What Satan wants to do is divide, divide, divide, divide. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience:<\/strong> Yes. That\u2019s right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Alex:<\/strong> Don\u2019t do it! He started in the garden of Eden. What does he do to Eve? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>18:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHe distracted, deceived, divided. That is Satan\u2019s strategy: distract her to the one thing she shouldn\u2019t be focused on. He deceives hers so he can divide her and Adam\u2014divide them from relationship with the Lord. Since then\u2014for all time\u2014he\u2019s been doing it. He wants to divide you from your spouse. He will use anything and everything\u2014any bit of ammunition. They have wrongs\u2014I have wrongs\u2014\u2014but I fight <em>for<\/em> our marriage, not against my spouse. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, guys, I don\u2019t know where you are. Some of you may be saying: \u201cOh, man, I agree with that. We\u2019re in love. We are doing this.\u201d And some of you are <em>struggling<\/em> in your marriage. So, the Lord wants you to <em>fight for<\/em> your spouse. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIf you take notes, I\u2019m going to give you a few verses as ammunition: 2 Timothy 1:7, \u201cFor God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power and love and self-control;\u201d James 4:7, \u201cSubmit your souls, therefore, to God.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>19:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cResist the devil and he will flee.\u201d There is <em>power<\/em> in the name of Jesus Christ. A number of times, I\u2019ve said: \u201cSatan, you get out of this house in Jesus\u2019 name. I\u2019m resisting you.\u201d If he gives me a thought, you throw it out. Isaiah 26:3, \u201cYou keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You because he trusts in You.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tLuke 10:27, \u201cAnd He answered, \u2018You shall love the Lord God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.\u201d And Psalm 119:15, \u201cI will meditate on Your precepts and fix my eyes on Your ways.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou must be the number one cheerleader for your spouse. They will <em>not<\/em> always deserve it. Many of you <em>don\u2019t<\/em> deserve it, but we <em>do not deserve<\/em> the love and grace of the Lord. Yet, He continually offers it to us, and offers it to us, and offers it to us. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>20:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, my job\u2014I\u2019m the number one fan and president of the Christina Kendrick Fan Club; right? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Audience:<\/strong> Woo! [Applause] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Alex:<\/strong> I\u2019m learning to love her with her love language. Sometimes, I\u2019ll come in the door\u2014and you think: \u201cWow! We\u2019ve got\u2026\u201d and, \u201cThe Lord did this\u2026\u201d or, \u201cThe Lord did this\u2026\u201d but, you know, the floors still needs to be swept, and the dishes still need to be washed, and the kids still need to be disciplined. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat\u2019s part of it, guys. It\u2019s all part of it: \u201cLord, help me gain ground in my mind.\u201d I gain ground, and I <em>fight for<\/em> our marriage instead of against my spouse. You may need to apologize to your spouse for something if you\u2019ve allowed Satan to run them down in your mind\u2014kick him out, kick him out, kick him out, kick him out! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t[Studio] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>21:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Well, we\u2019ve been listening to a message from Alex Kendrick, presented just a couple of weeks ago on the <em>Love Like You Mean It<\/em> marriage cruise.
