Have you ever stopped to consider how desperate his mother was\u2014putting her baby in that basket, and sending the baby down the river, even with Pharaoh\u2019s daughter waiting just around the bend? Bobbie Wolgemuth recalls the rest of that story. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> So, pharaoh\u2019s daughter picks up the baby and says to Miriam, the sister, \u201cCould you go find someone to nurse the baby?\u201d And so, Miriam runs home and gets her mother. Her mother gets paid to nurse her own baby for the pharaoh\u2019s daughter, who takes Moses to the court. When you think about couples in the Bible\u2014other than Adam and Eve and Mary and Joseph\u2014who jumps right out for you? Is there somebody in third place? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> That\u2019s a good question. You know\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Here\u2019s who comes out for me, and this is it\u2014David and Bathsheba. <br><br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Well, I was thinking of that one. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And you go, \u201cWhoops!\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u201cThat wasn\u2019t a good one.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> No, it\u2019s not. And you didn\u2019t want to go there; did you? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> I really didn\u2019t.\u00a0 Maybe, Abraham and Sarah\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Abraham and Sarah\u2014that makes sense. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014who had a good\u2014well, they had their problems, too. [Laughter] Let\u2019s just ask the couple who have written a devotional called <em>Couples of the Bible<\/em>. It\u2019s a one-year devotional study of couples in the Scripture. Robert and Bobbie Wolgemuth have written it and join us again on <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>. Bobbie, Robert, welcome back. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> We are grateful to be here. Thank you. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Thank you. We sure are. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Tell us which ones are your favorites. Do you both know\u2014before you answer\u2014do you both know what your favorites are? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Can you have favorites? It\u2019s like children. You can\u2019t really\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> There you go. That\u2019s a good answer. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> \u2014have favorites. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> There you go. The diplomat comes out. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s a good answer. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> You learn something different from every single couple, but I can\u2019t say I have\u2014well, my\u2014I think I do have a favorite, actually. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> I think you do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Amram and Jochebed\u2014are probably my favorite. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And I\u2019m sure that\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Yes, and\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014really popped on the screen\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014of a lot of our listeners, \u201cOh, yes.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s part of the wonder\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> That\u2019s fun. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> \u2014of this book, because even though Bobbie and I have been students of the Bible for a lot of years, we discovered all kinds of brand-new things; but Jochebed has always been a favorite of Bobbie\u2019s. I knew that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Well, this is Moses\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Didn\u2019t know much about her husband\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014this is Moses\u2019 mom and dad\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Moses\u2019 parents.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> This is Moses\u2019 parents. Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014before he got farmed out to\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> But why is this important to you? Why is this a good couple to you? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Well, I see couples\u2014a couple in the Bible that\u2019s in crisis\u2014and this would have been a couple in crisis. They have this beautiful new baby\u2014\u2014and Mrs. Smith, down the street\u2014you just heard that her baby got drowned in the Nile, and the pharaoh is after your baby because he\u2019s a boy. So, they had\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> The baby got drowned in the Nile, not because he slipped\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> No. Correct. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014and fell into the river. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Correct. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> He was killed. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> He was put to death. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> The pharaoh was killing\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Executing. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Euthanizing. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> \u2014babies. Now, how would you feel, as a couple? You\u2019re huddled in your home, and you have this baby, and you\u2019re trying to keep him quiet so the soldiers don\u2019t come and take your baby and kill him. I mean, I think that would\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Well, I love what you wrote about in your devotional here. You didn\u2019t just take us to the point where they had the baby and had the decision. You, actually, take the reader into the moments when she was pregnant and the pronouncement had been made. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And you take some liberty here\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Right. We do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014in terms of what took place. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Yes, you would wish\u2014you would wonder\u2014you would say, \u201cIf I have a boy, his life is in jeopardy; but if I have a girl, she\u2019d be okay.\u201d So, you would even wonder when you\u2019re pregnant, \u201cI wonder if it\u2019s a boy; and if it is: \u201cIs he going to be okay? Is God going to preserve his life?\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> And we create dialogue. You just alluded to this. We have taken some license because, in some cases, you have all the dialogue you need in the Bible. In other cases\u2014and we had a Jewish researcher\u2014a converted Jew, a Christian man\u2014who knows the Bible like crazy\u2014as a Jew and, then, as a believer\u2014help us with some of the details\u2014but we\u2019ve had to make a scenario of some of the conversations between husband and wife. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn every chapter, we do conversations so that a couple reading this can identify this interaction between husband and wife and what they would talk about in a situation like this particular couple was in. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> A little sanctified imagination. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Like that. Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Right. Or like Noah and his wife. All we learn in the Bible is\u2014it says Noah and his wife. We never learn her name. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Yes, we don\u2019t know what her name is. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> However, she got in the boat with Noah and her three sons from a very corrupt culture\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Oh, I love this part. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> \u2014had brought wives into the ark, which means the women in the culture had married their sons and adopted Jehovah as their God. So, you know, again, here\u2019s this story of a family who was fearless in a corrupt situation. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Well, let me take you back to Moses\u2019 mom and dad. Why did you lock in on them? They\u2019re facing a crisis. Their baby\u2014if he\u2019s a boy\u2014he\u2019s going to be drowned in the Nile. That\u2019s what Pharaoh is doing to all the babies. Why did that couple jump into your mind? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> I love that God gave Jochebed an idea. The idea was to make that little ark. And I picture her with this beautiful\u2014and you know, three-month old babies are really gorgeous. So, I am picturing her making this little basket, and holding it up to the light, and saying: \u201cLet\u2019s see, have I dabbed enough tar here? Have I put enough little reeds here?\u201d And she would hold it up, making sure that it was going to hold her baby. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn much the same way, every day, we coat our little homes with just enough of hope, and faith, and Jesus. So, we are in this basket. We are in this boat, with our family. We are trying to survive, in the culture, now. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And when she put her baby boy in the basket\u2014in the river\u2014she had no idea what the outcome was going to be. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> We don\u2019t often think about that because we know the story. We know there is somebody downstream who is going to pick up the baby\u2014It\u2019s going to be Moses, for heaven\u2019s sake!\u2014but she kissed the little baby goodbye and didn\u2019t know what was coming; did she? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> I think that\u2019s what I love about these Bible stories. These couples hadn\u2019t read this Book. They don\u2019t know what happens. Just like when we\u2019re going through something, or our children and their marriages are going through something, they don\u2019t know how it\u2019s going to turn out. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> But they did know the God of the Book. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s the point. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Yes, they did. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s the point, and you can rest in that. You can rest that He knows best. You do what you believe He is calling you to do; but then, you let go. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Well, you\u2019ve got to finish enough of the story so that our listeners remember, at least, what happened to Moses because the mom did let go. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> She did. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Yes, she did. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> But she sent a little emissary, alongside the river. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Oh, little Miriam, the older sister. I love that. I\u2019m\u2014I can just picture the older sister\u2014sort of there, along the river bank\u2014and then, the pharaoh\u2019s daughter picks up this baby. What I love about this\u2014about the Bible and what we\u2019ve learned about couples\u2014is how God works out things, way beyond what human understanding could ever figure out. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tPharaoh\u2019s daughter picks up the baby and says to Miriam, the sister, \u201cCould you go find someone to nurse the baby?\u201d So, Miriam runs home and gets her mother. Her mother gets paid to nurse her own baby for the pharaoh\u2019s daughter, who takes Moses to the court. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAgain, the book is about God and how He interacts with us, as couples, in our marriages. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Yes. As we were writing, we asked two questions: \u201cWhat does this story tell us about marriage?\u201d and, \u201cWhat does it tell us about God?\u201d All the way through, it\u2019s an overview of God\u2019s activity in the lives of these people\u2014event by event, couple by couple. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob<\/strong>: Do you remember what that story taught you about marriage as you\u2014because we\u2019ve talked about a momma and her baby\u2014but what about the husband and wife in that? Do you remember? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Trusting God in the dark\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> \u2014was the biggest thing. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Exactly. That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> And that\u2019s often what we have to do. We do not know what\u2019s ahead. We also have to let our children go. Although this is not a parenting book, there were several couples where we had to look at how God intervened in their families\u2014worked in their children\u2019s lives. I think that is one of the things that we have learned about some of the couples in the Bible. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Yes, and God\u2019s grace. I mean, the very first couple\u2014the Bible begins and ends with marriage; right? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> I\u2019ve heard somebody say that about 700 times in the last 20 years. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Really? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Well, there you go. So, but Adam and Eve had a crisis. They lost two boys in the same day. One fled, and the other was dead; but God\u2019s grace gave them the third son. So, there is that returning of His kindness to you. It\u2019s in the dark. You don\u2019t know, and you\u2019ve not read the whole story. You\u2019re experiencing it as you go along. So, you trust Him that He knows best; and whatever form it takes, you will get back, even better than what you gave away. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Explain what you are doing in each of these stories because\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Okay. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014actually, the devotionals that you\u2019ve got\u2014because you tell a story that\u2019s a familiar story\u2014but like I said, you embellish it enough that it\u2019s kind of like, \u201cWhat are they going to say about this?\u201d And it\u2019s not like you\u2019re taking license with the Scriptures, inappropriately. You are taking the reader into what likely did happen. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s exactly the way to say it, \u201cLikely scenarios.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert<\/strong>: Five days of this particular couple. So, there are 52 weeks and 52 couples. Now, there are some double-ups. Adam and Eve, for example\u2014it\u2019s three weeks with them. First, the perfect couple\u2014perfect companion\u2014then, it\u2019s the fall\u2014and then, it\u2019s crisis in the home, where the boys are gone. So, those are three weeks, just with one couple. There are actually 40 different couples\u201452 weeks. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, Monday is called \u201cTheir Story\u201d. We take an event, in the lives of this couple, and tell that story. Tuesday, we call \u201cLife and Times\u201d. We help the reader get a cultural setting as to where this took place\u2014what was happening, the setting, geographic setting, whatever. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong> This is where some of the Jewish history comes up. I really liked it\u2014about many of them that I read in here. I haven\u2019t read them all yet; but you take the reader, the couple, into an actual immersion into Jewish culture\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014which adds a tremendous benefit. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Yes. It is very helpful. You can\u2019t find this\u2014material like this\u2014in one place, anywhere else. \u201cLife and Times\u201d is Tuesday. Then, Wednesday\u2014early on, we said, \u201cHow can we help the reader pull themselves into the story?\u201d So, we said, \u201cLet\u2019s call Wednesday, \u2018Can You Imagine?\u2019\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe invite the reader to put themselves in this setting and encourage them to verbalize, with each other, what they would do in this same setting: \u201cHow would this impact us, if we were Jochebed and Amram, and we heard that was something was going to happen to one of our kids and we were going to lose them\u2014they were going to be killed? How would we interact with each other?\u201d We\u2019re inviting couples to put themselves in that setting. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br>Then, Thursday is called \u201cTheir Legacy in Scripture\u201d. The big idea\u2014whether it\u2019s repentance, or confession, or celebration, or conflict about money, whatever it is\u2014we go to other places in Scripture, and we identify those Scriptures. Then, we ask questions. That\u2019s the place that\u2019s really interactive. So, you and your spouse, or a small group, or a Sunday school class\u2014we\u2019re actually doing that right now. We\u2019re taking our Sunday school class through this book. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThen, Friday, we call it \u201cTheir Legacy of Prayer\u201d. We have prayers that you can look at, and adjust however you want, or actually read them. I really\u2014our encouragement, on Friday, is that the couples do this together. We know that, by and large, women will be the ones who consume this book. In the introduction, we say, \u201cIf that\u2019s the way it works out for you, that\u2019s great; but we really do encourage you to sit down with your spouse and go through Friday together.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd some guys\u2014let\u2019s say it the way it is\u2014are uncertain about praying like that with their wives. So, we\u2019ve actually given them a guide, and he can pray\u2014again, the theme of what we\u2019ve just discussed this week, on Friday\u2014and we give them an actual text for the prayer. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And what I would say is\u2014maybe, it\u2019s true that a lot of wives are going to be the ones that pull this into their home\u2014find a way to read this aloud to each other, even if it takes you two weeks or three weeks to go through the one week\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Sure. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014but find a way to participate together and share in these discussions to begin to talk about your relationship with God\u2014how you trust Him, what you would think, what you would feel in that circumstance. I think that\u2019s all very important to a couple, who\u2014if they are going to grow together in faith in Christ. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob<\/strong>: Robert, we asked your wife to pick a favorite couple; and she did. So, now, we\u2019re back to you. Is there anybody who jumped out at you\u2014maybe, somebody that you hadn\u2019t spent a whole lot of time getting to know? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Well, I love Noah. I\u2019ve always loved Noah\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> \u2014but he\u2019s the only one of my favorite Bible characters that made the book. Noah is a carpenter, and I love working with my hands. I\u2019ve built homes. I like that part; but the fact that Noah and his wife\u2014and we have written her as a compassionate person, who\u2019s really understanding of the fact that he heard something she didn\u2019t hear; and she trusted him. \u201cI didn\u2019t hear the voice, but count on me. I\u2019m alongside you,\u201d \u2014that, to me\u2014that\u2019s Noah\u2019s wife; and I love that! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut then, the Lord gave them a hundred years\u2014a hundred years. Don\u2019t you know they spent that time trying to convince their neighbors to follow God? They were successful with three girls, who their sons married. So, their home was a home that welcomed unbelievers, if you will; right? And these three girls had a mother-in-law, who was loving when they walked through the door\u2014so loving\u2014that they were willing to abandon their own families, who eventually died in the flood. I love that part of it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou know, you don\u2019t picture Noah\u2019s ark as really anything but a kid\u2019s room with little animals and so forth. It\u2019s a treacherous moment. People died. But this family was faithful\u2014so much so that they opened their door to these three girls who came in and said: \u201cYou know what? I choose Jehovah because I\u2019m seeing Him in your home.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> That story spoke powerfully to you about the influence that a wife\u2014a supportive wife\u2014can have in a marriage. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s what it was. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Yes. Yes, and that\u2019s the big part of the story. The other\u2014it\u2019s hard for me to narrow it down because, I mean, we met Othniel and Achsah for the first time. Othniel was the first judge in Israel, and Achsah was the daughter of Caleb. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Famous warrior. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> And he won her hand by winning a battle. We had so much\u2014I mean, that was a brand-new couple to us. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI loved Jarius and his wife. Again, we don\u2019t know her name; but here\u2019s a man who is a leader in the temple. He\u2019s a very proud man because he\u2019s got that job\u2014not only does he seek out Jesus because his daughter is sick, not only does he bow before Him when he finally finds Him down by the sea, but he falls down\u2014he falls down. We, actually, on Day Two\u2014on Tuesday of that week\u2014we went back through the Scriptures and found all the places where people actually fell to their face in contrition, and repentance, and worship. And so, there\u2019s just a little side bar on that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut I love that because I\u2014I mean, I deal with pride. I deal with self-sufficiency. I don\u2019t like to say: \u201cLook. I need your help here.\u201d I like to do it myself. Here\u2019s this guy\u2014who not just bows down\u2014but falls down at Jesus\u2019 feet because he\u2019s out of options. I just love that story. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Bobbie, we\u2019ve already heard, this week, about your battle with stage four ovarian cancer. When you got that diagnosis, how far along were you in the writing of this book? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> We were actually finished with the entire first draft and had settled on everything except the edits. So, saturating ourselves, for two years, in the research, and the study, and the writing of this\u2014I felt like that was about the best preparation I could have had for dealing with a crisis. We watched couples in the Bible deal with crisis. The ones that fled to Jesus, or that clung to Jehovah God, or that trusted God were my heroes. <br><br>We were warned about some that decided they would go it without God. Those are the ones that would warn us\u2014that it looks like you can trust yourself, but you can\u2019t. Even doctors and people, that are well-meaning, cannot give you the peace, the hope, the joy that is available in God and in His character. I think we learned a lot about that. We were pretty much ready when we got our diagnosis. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob:<\/strong> During the year that you were undergoing chemo, you still had final edits to do in this book; and I\u2019m just imagining\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Oh my goodness! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u2014you going\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u2014\u201cYou know, I\u2019m too tired to work on this today;\u201d or was it a rich time, in the middle of the chemo, to be still working on this? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Well, actually, I had to\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Are we supposed to tell the truth about this or what? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Yes. [Laughter] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes, tell the truth, yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> We had to ask for an extension because I didn\u2019t have any energy. That\u2019s one of the things it takes from you. The drugs take your energy; but at the same time, I was reading. So, I could read about them. I just\u2014and I had ideas, and I would take notes; but we finished the final edits\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Here\u2019s the picture. We sent\u2014well, Bobbie and the researcher wrote the first draft together. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Robert:<\/strong> Then, I wrote the second draft by myself. Then, we had two more edits. We did it, literally\u2014picture this\u2014at the dining room table\u2014and she\u2019s reading aloud every word. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God. We were literally reading God\u2019s Word, out loud, every single day. There is nothing that could have been a better gift for us\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s true. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> \u2014during this year. It has been amazing. <br><br><strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s really true. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Earlier this week, I stopped by to see a friend in the hospital. This man has led dozens of other men to Jesus Christ\u2014into a faith relationship with Him\u2014and has transformed\u2014seen their lives transformed by the Savior. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHe got up, as you would any normal day, and kissed his wife goodbye, and headed out in the car. As he was driving, he had a stroke\u2014as a result, had an accident. The accident occurred in such a way that he hit his head, in the accident, in the area where he had the stroke. It took the pressure off the brain and, ultimately, saved his life. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tToday, he\u2019s coming back. He\u2019s not there. He\u2019s paralyzed on the left side of his body; but he\u2019s\u2014it\u2019s starting to come back a bit. But I\u2019m thinking of this book. I\u2019m thinking, as he goes through the rigors of rebuilding the brain and reconnecting all the neurons\u2014asking God to give him strength back in his left arm and in his left leg\u2014what a great way for a couple to get in the Book. Before you\u2019re done here, I want you to sign a copy to my friend. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Oh, I\u2019d love that; of course. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Be great. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Of course. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> But I\u2019m thinking of our listeners. They need to get in the book, too. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> As a matter of fact, when you get the book in your hands, you\u2019ll see the print, at the bottom of the cover. It says, \u201cForward by Dennis and Barbara Rainey\u201d. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob<\/strong>: Yes, I just noticed it. It\u2019s in much smaller type than yours. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> It is very small type. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> It kind of fades\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Okay, come on. They didn\u2019t do that much. [Laughter] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And the book you gave me doesn\u2019t even have my name on it. <br>\u00a0\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s not the real book. That\u2019s not the real book. [Laughter] Well, seriously, Bobbie and I sat down\u2014and actually, with the publisher\u2014and said, \u201cWho would be our favorite choice of a Christian couple\u2014who has walked the walk and talked the talk\u2014who would come alongside?\u201d You guys have been friends\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> \u2014who loves the Bible. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> \u2014of ours for a long time. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> And you love the Bible\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> \u2014and I listen to you on the radio. When you talk about marriage, you have become a mentor to so many couples. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThis all sort of came out of my Bible study\u2014where I\u2019m looking in the faces of these young 30-something girls. They are wondering, \u201cIs my marriage going to make it until death do us part\u2019?\u201d And people like you\u2014who use God\u2019s Word to encourage marriages\u2014you are one of my heroes, and Barbara, and the marriage you have had. Bobbie Wolgemuth recalls the rest of that story. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> So, pharaoh\u2019s daughter picks up the baby and says to Miriam, the sister, \u201cCould you go find someone to nurse the baby?\u201d And so, Miriam runs home and gets her mother. Her mother gets paid to nurse her own baby for the pharaoh\u2019s daughter, who takes Moses to the court. When you think about couples in the Bible\u2014other than Adam and Eve and Mary and Joseph\u2014who jumps right out for you? Is there somebody in third place? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> That\u2019s a good question. You know\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Here\u2019s who comes out for me, and this is it\u2014David and Bathsheba. <br><br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Well, I was thinking of that one. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And you go, \u201cWhoops!\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u201cThat wasn\u2019t a good one.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> No, it\u2019s not. And you didn\u2019t want to go there; did you? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> I really didn\u2019t.\u00a0 Maybe, Abraham and Sarah\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Abraham and Sarah\u2014that makes sense. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014who had a good\u2014well, they had their problems, too. [Laughter] Let\u2019s just ask the couple who have written a devotional called <em>Couples of the Bible<\/em>. It\u2019s a one-year devotional study of couples in the Scripture. Robert and Bobbie Wolgemuth have written it and join us again on <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>. Bobbie, Robert, welcome back. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> We are grateful to be here. Thank you. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Thank you. We sure are. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Tell us which ones are your favorites. Do you both know\u2014before you answer\u2014do you both know what your favorites are? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Can you have favorites? It\u2019s like children. You can\u2019t really\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> There you go. That\u2019s a good answer. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> \u2014have favorites. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> There you go. The diplomat comes out. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s a good answer. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> You learn something different from every single couple, but I can\u2019t say I have\u2014well, my\u2014I think I do have a favorite, actually. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> I think you do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Amram and Jochebed\u2014are probably my favorite. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And I\u2019m sure that\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Yes, and\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014really popped on the screen\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014of a lot of our listeners, \u201cOh, yes.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s part of the wonder\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> That\u2019s fun. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> \u2014of this book, because even though Bobbie and I have been students of the Bible for a lot of years, we discovered all kinds of brand-new things; but Jochebed has always been a favorite of Bobbie\u2019s. I knew that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Well, this is Moses\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Didn\u2019t know much about her husband\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014this is Moses\u2019 mom and dad\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Moses\u2019 parents.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> This is Moses\u2019 parents. Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014before he got farmed out to\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> But why is this important to you? Why is this a good couple to you? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Well, I see couples\u2014a couple in the Bible that\u2019s in crisis\u2014and this would have been a couple in crisis. They have this beautiful new baby\u2014\u2014and Mrs. Smith, down the street\u2014you just heard that her baby got drowned in the Nile, and the pharaoh is after your baby because he\u2019s a boy. So, they had\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> The baby got drowned in the Nile, not because he slipped\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> No. Correct. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014and fell into the river. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Correct. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> He was killed. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> He was put to death. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> The pharaoh was killing\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Executing. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Euthanizing. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> \u2014babies. Now, how would you feel, as a couple? You\u2019re huddled in your home, and you have this baby, and you\u2019re trying to keep him quiet so the soldiers don\u2019t come and take your baby and kill him. I mean, I think that would\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Well, I love what you wrote about in your devotional here. You didn\u2019t just take us to the point where they had the baby and had the decision. You, actually, take the reader into the moments when she was pregnant and the pronouncement had been made. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And you take some liberty here\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Right. We do. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014in terms of what took place. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Yes, you would wish\u2014you would wonder\u2014you would say, \u201cIf I have a boy, his life is in jeopardy; but if I have a girl, she\u2019d be okay.\u201d So, you would even wonder when you\u2019re pregnant, \u201cI wonder if it\u2019s a boy; and if it is: \u201cIs he going to be okay? Is God going to preserve his life?\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> And we create dialogue. You just alluded to this. We have taken some license because, in some cases, you have all the dialogue you need in the Bible. In other cases\u2014and we had a Jewish researcher\u2014a converted Jew, a Christian man\u2014who knows the Bible like crazy\u2014as a Jew and, then, as a believer\u2014help us with some of the details\u2014but we\u2019ve had to make a scenario of some of the conversations between husband and wife. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn every chapter, we do conversations so that a couple reading this can identify this interaction between husband and wife and what they would talk about in a situation like this particular couple was in. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> A little sanctified imagination. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Like that. Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Right. Or like Noah and his wife. All we learn in the Bible is\u2014it says Noah and his wife. We never learn her name. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Yes, we don\u2019t know what her name is. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> However, she got in the boat with Noah and her three sons from a very corrupt culture\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Oh, I love this part. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> \u2014had brought wives into the ark, which means the women in the culture had married their sons and adopted Jehovah as their God. So, you know, again, here\u2019s this story of a family who was fearless in a corrupt situation. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Well, let me take you back to Moses\u2019 mom and dad. Why did you lock in on them? They\u2019re facing a crisis. Their baby\u2014if he\u2019s a boy\u2014he\u2019s going to be drowned in the Nile. That\u2019s what Pharaoh is doing to all the babies. Why did that couple jump into your mind? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> I love that God gave Jochebed an idea. The idea was to make that little ark. And I picture her with this beautiful\u2014and you know, three-month old babies are really gorgeous. So, I am picturing her making this little basket, and holding it up to the light, and saying: \u201cLet\u2019s see, have I dabbed enough tar here? Have I put enough little reeds here?\u201d And she would hold it up, making sure that it was going to hold her baby. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn much the same way, every day, we coat our little homes with just enough of hope, and faith, and Jesus. So, we are in this basket. We are in this boat, with our family. We are trying to survive, in the culture, now. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And when she put her baby boy in the basket\u2014in the river\u2014she had no idea what the outcome was going to be. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> We don\u2019t often think about that because we know the story. We know there is somebody downstream who is going to pick up the baby\u2014It\u2019s going to be Moses, for heaven\u2019s sake!\u2014but she kissed the little baby goodbye and didn\u2019t know what was coming; did she? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> I think that\u2019s what I love about these Bible stories. These couples hadn\u2019t read this Book. They don\u2019t know what happens. Just like when we\u2019re going through something, or our children and their marriages are going through something, they don\u2019t know how it\u2019s going to turn out. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> But they did know the God of the Book. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s the point. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Yes, they did. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s the point, and you can rest in that. You can rest that He knows best. You do what you believe He is calling you to do; but then, you let go. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Well, you\u2019ve got to finish enough of the story so that our listeners remember, at least, what happened to Moses because the mom did let go. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> She did. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Yes, she did. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> But she sent a little emissary, alongside the river. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Oh, little Miriam, the older sister. I love that. I\u2019m\u2014I can just picture the older sister\u2014sort of there, along the river bank\u2014and then, the pharaoh\u2019s daughter picks up this baby. What I love about this\u2014about the Bible and what we\u2019ve learned about couples\u2014is how God works out things, way beyond what human understanding could ever figure out. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tPharaoh\u2019s daughter picks up the baby and says to Miriam, the sister, \u201cCould you go find someone to nurse the baby?\u201d So, Miriam runs home and gets her mother. Her mother gets paid to nurse her own baby for the pharaoh\u2019s daughter, who takes Moses to the court. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAgain, the book is about God and how He interacts with us, as couples, in our marriages. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Yes. As we were writing, we asked two questions: \u201cWhat does this story tell us about marriage?\u201d and, \u201cWhat does it tell us about God?\u201d All the way through, it\u2019s an overview of God\u2019s activity in the lives of these people\u2014event by event, couple by couple. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob<\/strong>: Do you remember what that story taught you about marriage as you\u2014because we\u2019ve talked about a momma and her baby\u2014but what about the husband and wife in that? Do you remember? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Trusting God in the dark\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> \u2014was the biggest thing. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Exactly. That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> And that\u2019s often what we have to do. We do not know what\u2019s ahead. We also have to let our children go. Although this is not a parenting book, there were several couples where we had to look at how God intervened in their families\u2014worked in their children\u2019s lives. I think that is one of the things that we have learned about some of the couples in the Bible. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Yes, and God\u2019s grace. I mean, the very first couple\u2014the Bible begins and ends with marriage; right? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> I\u2019ve heard somebody say that about 700 times in the last 20 years. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Really? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> That\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Well, there you go. So, but Adam and Eve had a crisis. They lost two boys in the same day. One fled, and the other was dead; but God\u2019s grace gave them the third son. So, there is that returning of His kindness to you. It\u2019s in the dark. You don\u2019t know, and you\u2019ve not read the whole story. You\u2019re experiencing it as you go along. So, you trust Him that He knows best; and whatever form it takes, you will get back, even better than what you gave away. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Explain what you are doing in each of these stories because\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Okay. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014actually, the devotionals that you\u2019ve got\u2014because you tell a story that\u2019s a familiar story\u2014but like I said, you embellish it enough that it\u2019s kind of like, \u201cWhat are they going to say about this?\u201d And it\u2019s not like you\u2019re taking license with the Scriptures, inappropriately. You are taking the reader into what likely did happen. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s exactly the way to say it, \u201cLikely scenarios.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert<\/strong>: Five days of this particular couple. So, there are 52 weeks and 52 couples. Now, there are some double-ups. Adam and Eve, for example\u2014it\u2019s three weeks with them. First, the perfect couple\u2014perfect companion\u2014then, it\u2019s the fall\u2014and then, it\u2019s crisis in the home, where the boys are gone. So, those are three weeks, just with one couple. There are actually 40 different couples\u201452 weeks. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, Monday is called \u201cTheir Story\u201d. We take an event, in the lives of this couple, and tell that story. Tuesday, we call \u201cLife and Times\u201d. We help the reader get a cultural setting as to where this took place\u2014what was happening, the setting, geographic setting, whatever. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong> This is where some of the Jewish history comes up. I really liked it\u2014about many of them that I read in here. I haven\u2019t read them all yet; but you take the reader, the couple, into an actual immersion into Jewish culture\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014which adds a tremendous benefit. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Yes. It is very helpful. You can\u2019t find this\u2014material like this\u2014in one place, anywhere else. \u201cLife and Times\u201d is Tuesday. Then, Wednesday\u2014early on, we said, \u201cHow can we help the reader pull themselves into the story?\u201d So, we said, \u201cLet\u2019s call Wednesday, \u2018Can You Imagine?\u2019\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe invite the reader to put themselves in this setting and encourage them to verbalize, with each other, what they would do in this same setting: \u201cHow would this impact us, if we were Jochebed and Amram, and we heard that was something was going to happen to one of our kids and we were going to lose them\u2014they were going to be killed? How would we interact with each other?\u201d We\u2019re inviting couples to put themselves in that setting. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br>Then, Thursday is called \u201cTheir Legacy in Scripture\u201d. The big idea\u2014whether it\u2019s repentance, or confession, or celebration, or conflict about money, whatever it is\u2014we go to other places in Scripture, and we identify those Scriptures. Then, we ask questions. That\u2019s the place that\u2019s really interactive. So, you and your spouse, or a small group, or a Sunday school class\u2014we\u2019re actually doing that right now. We\u2019re taking our Sunday school class through this book. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThen, Friday, we call it \u201cTheir Legacy of Prayer\u201d. We have prayers that you can look at, and adjust however you want, or actually read them. I really\u2014our encouragement, on Friday, is that the couples do this together. We know that, by and large, women will be the ones who consume this book. In the introduction, we say, \u201cIf that\u2019s the way it works out for you, that\u2019s great; but we really do encourage you to sit down with your spouse and go through Friday together.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd some guys\u2014let\u2019s say it the way it is\u2014are uncertain about praying like that with their wives. So, we\u2019ve actually given them a guide, and he can pray\u2014again, the theme of what we\u2019ve just discussed this week, on Friday\u2014and we give them an actual text for the prayer. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And what I would say is\u2014maybe, it\u2019s true that a lot of wives are going to be the ones that pull this into their home\u2014find a way to read this aloud to each other, even if it takes you two weeks or three weeks to go through the one week\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Sure. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014but find a way to participate together and share in these discussions to begin to talk about your relationship with God\u2014how you trust Him, what you would think, what you would feel in that circumstance. I think that\u2019s all very important to a couple, who\u2014if they are going to grow together in faith in Christ. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob<\/strong>: Robert, we asked your wife to pick a favorite couple; and she did. So, now, we\u2019re back to you. Is there anybody who jumped out at you\u2014maybe, somebody that you hadn\u2019t spent a whole lot of time getting to know? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Well, I love Noah. I\u2019ve always loved Noah\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> \u2014but he\u2019s the only one of my favorite Bible characters that made the book. Noah is a carpenter, and I love working with my hands. I\u2019ve built homes. I like that part; but the fact that Noah and his wife\u2014and we have written her as a compassionate person, who\u2019s really understanding of the fact that he heard something she didn\u2019t hear; and she trusted him. \u201cI didn\u2019t hear the voice, but count on me. I\u2019m alongside you,\u201d \u2014that, to me\u2014that\u2019s Noah\u2019s wife; and I love that! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut then, the Lord gave them a hundred years\u2014a hundred years. Don\u2019t you know they spent that time trying to convince their neighbors to follow God? They were successful with three girls, who their sons married. So, their home was a home that welcomed unbelievers, if you will; right? And these three girls had a mother-in-law, who was loving when they walked through the door\u2014so loving\u2014that they were willing to abandon their own families, who eventually died in the flood. I love that part of it. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou know, you don\u2019t picture Noah\u2019s ark as really anything but a kid\u2019s room with little animals and so forth. It\u2019s a treacherous moment. People died. But this family was faithful\u2014so much so that they opened their door to these three girls who came in and said: \u201cYou know what? I choose Jehovah because I\u2019m seeing Him in your home.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> That story spoke powerfully to you about the influence that a wife\u2014a supportive wife\u2014can have in a marriage. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s what it was. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Yes. Yes, and that\u2019s the big part of the story. The other\u2014it\u2019s hard for me to narrow it down because, I mean, we met Othniel and Achsah for the first time. Othniel was the first judge in Israel, and Achsah was the daughter of Caleb. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Famous warrior. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> And he won her hand by winning a battle. We had so much\u2014I mean, that was a brand-new couple to us. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI loved Jarius and his wife. Again, we don\u2019t know her name; but here\u2019s a man who is a leader in the temple. He\u2019s a very proud man because he\u2019s got that job\u2014not only does he seek out Jesus because his daughter is sick, not only does he bow before Him when he finally finds Him down by the sea, but he falls down\u2014he falls down. We, actually, on Day Two\u2014on Tuesday of that week\u2014we went back through the Scriptures and found all the places where people actually fell to their face in contrition, and repentance, and worship. And so, there\u2019s just a little side bar on that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut I love that because I\u2014I mean, I deal with pride. I deal with self-sufficiency. I don\u2019t like to say: \u201cLook. I need your help here.\u201d I like to do it myself. Here\u2019s this guy\u2014who not just bows down\u2014but falls down at Jesus\u2019 feet because he\u2019s out of options. I just love that story. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Bobbie, we\u2019ve already heard, this week, about your battle with stage four ovarian cancer. When you got that diagnosis, how far along were you in the writing of this book? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> We were actually finished with the entire first draft and had settled on everything except the edits. So, saturating ourselves, for two years, in the research, and the study, and the writing of this\u2014I felt like that was about the best preparation I could have had for dealing with a crisis. We watched couples in the Bible deal with crisis. The ones that fled to Jesus, or that clung to Jehovah God, or that trusted God were my heroes. <br><br>We were warned about some that decided they would go it without God. Those are the ones that would warn us\u2014that it looks like you can trust yourself, but you can\u2019t. Even doctors and people, that are well-meaning, cannot give you the peace, the hope, the joy that is available in God and in His character. I think we learned a lot about that. We were pretty much ready when we got our diagnosis. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob:<\/strong> During the year that you were undergoing chemo, you still had final edits to do in this book; and I\u2019m just imagining\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Oh my goodness! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u2014you going\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u2014\u201cYou know, I\u2019m too tired to work on this today;\u201d or was it a rich time, in the middle of the chemo, to be still working on this? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Well, actually, I had to\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Are we supposed to tell the truth about this or what? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Yes. [Laughter] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes, tell the truth, yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> We had to ask for an extension because I didn\u2019t have any energy. That\u2019s one of the things it takes from you. The drugs take your energy; but at the same time, I was reading. So, I could read about them. I just\u2014and I had ideas, and I would take notes; but we finished the final edits\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Here\u2019s the picture. We sent\u2014well, Bobbie and the researcher wrote the first draft together. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Robert:<\/strong> Then, I wrote the second draft by myself. Then, we had two more edits. We did it, literally\u2014picture this\u2014at the dining room table\u2014and she\u2019s reading aloud every word. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God. We were literally reading God\u2019s Word, out loud, every single day. There is nothing that could have been a better gift for us\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s true. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> \u2014during this year. It has been amazing. <br><br><strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s really true. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Earlier this week, I stopped by to see a friend in the hospital. This man has led dozens of other men to Jesus Christ\u2014into a faith relationship with Him\u2014and has transformed\u2014seen their lives transformed by the Savior. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHe got up, as you would any normal day, and kissed his wife goodbye, and headed out in the car. As he was driving, he had a stroke\u2014as a result, had an accident. The accident occurred in such a way that he hit his head, in the accident, in the area where he had the stroke. It took the pressure off the brain and, ultimately, saved his life. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tToday, he\u2019s coming back. He\u2019s not there. He\u2019s paralyzed on the left side of his body; but he\u2019s\u2014it\u2019s starting to come back a bit. But I\u2019m thinking of this book. I\u2019m thinking, as he goes through the rigors of rebuilding the brain and reconnecting all the neurons\u2014asking God to give him strength back in his left arm and in his left leg\u2014what a great way for a couple to get in the Book. Before you\u2019re done here, I want you to sign a copy to my friend. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Oh, I\u2019d love that; of course. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Be great. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Of course. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> But I\u2019m thinking of our listeners. They need to get in the book, too. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> As a matter of fact, when you get the book in your hands, you\u2019ll see the print, at the bottom of the cover. It says, \u201cForward by Dennis and Barbara Rainey\u201d. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob<\/strong>: Yes, I just noticed it. It\u2019s in much smaller type than yours. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> It is very small type. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> It kind of fades\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Okay, come on. They didn\u2019t do that much. [Laughter] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And the book you gave me doesn\u2019t even have my name on it. <br>\u00a0\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> That\u2019s not the real book. That\u2019s not the real book. [Laughter] Well, seriously, Bobbie and I sat down\u2014and actually, with the publisher\u2014and said, \u201cWho would be our favorite choice of a Christian couple\u2014who has walked the walk and talked the talk\u2014who would come alongside?\u201d You guys have been friends\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> \u2014who loves the Bible. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> \u2014of ours for a long time. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> And you love the Bible\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobbie:<\/strong> \u2014and I listen to you on the radio. When you talk about marriage, you have become a mentor to so many couples. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThis all sort of came out of my Bible study\u2014where I\u2019m looking in the faces of these young 30-something girls. They are wondering, \u201cIs my marriage going to make it until death do us part\u2019?\u201d And people like you\u2014who use God\u2019s Word to encourage marriages\u2014you are one of my heroes, and Barbara, and the marriage you have had. That is one of the reasons we wanted you to write the forward, and thank you so much for doing that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> I was honored to do it, and we just want to see couples get in the Book. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Robert:<\/strong> Yes, that\u2019s right. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014and get the Book in them. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Well, and we\u2019ve got copies, of course, of the book in our <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em> Resource Center.
