I was trying to still do my painting?\u00a0 Then, I put that away.\u00a0 Then, I sewed kids\u2019 clothes.\u00a0 Then, I\u2014they grew out of that.\u00a0 Then, I was doing quilting.\u00a0 Then, I was painting rooms.\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 I was actually thinking of whether they were the ones that were\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014doing the crafts.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014doing the crafts.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oh.\u00a0 No, it was me.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 She tried.\u00a0 She tried to do it, but when they left\u2014when they fled the \u201cpenitentiary\u201d and all got married\u2014all except one\u2014she began to really cut loose and begin to exhibit many of her talents, in terms of creativity and her love for the Scriptures, to equip families to better pass on the truth about Jesus Christ to their kids.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 The reason we\u2019re talking about arts and crafts, and the Scriptures, and your passion for these things\u2014and by the way, welcome back to <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Thank you.\u00a0\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014we\u2019re talking about this because of a resource that you\u2019ve been working on and developing that\u2019s part of a series of resources.\u00a0 At Christmastime, we shared with our listeners about ornaments that you can hang on your tree called \u201cAdorenaments\u201d<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> that share the names of Christ.\u00a0 And we sold out of all of those that we had.\u00a0 In fact, you are working on a set of new \u201cAdorenaments\u201d for next year.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, we\u2019ll have the ones we had from last year\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s correct.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014and a whole new set for this year.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s correct.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Then, you\u2019ve developed this\u2014it\u2019s not really just a devotional book.\u00a0 It\u2019s an interactive devotional that families are using during the Lenten season called \u201cThe Messiah Mystery\u201d<sup>\u2122<\/sup>\u2014and folks are engaged with that.\u00a0 And now, you\u2019ve come up with a wreath that families can use at Easter that is called \u201cBehold the Lamb\u201d.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tActually, is the wreath called \u201cBehold the Lamb\u201d, or have you got this all\u2014because \u201cBehold the Lamb\u201d\u201d is kind of the Easter version of the wreath; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \u201c\u201cBehold the Lamb\u201d is the Easter version of the wreath.\u00a0 We don\u2019t have a name for the wreath by itself.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, stay tuned.\u00a0 We\u2019ll figure that out.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, there\u2019s a reason for that because\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014the wreath is actually designed to carry multiple messages, through various events that occur around a family.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s right.\u00a0 Well said.\u00a0 That\u2019s correct.\u00a0 We\u2019ve designed this wreath and created it so that it can be used at Easter.\u00a0 This year, this will be the first time that the wreath will be available.\u00a0 So, when you buy the wreath, you will get the wreath; and you will get the Easter kit that you take your family through for the week of Holy Week.\u00a0 But after Easter is over, you can use the wreath for other purposes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tEventually, we will have a product that will go with it that will focus on gratitude.\u00a0 We will have one on Valentine\u2019s\u2014where you can teach your children about love, and what God\u2019s love means, and all about love for the first two weeks in February.\u00a0 We will have, probably, a birthday kit so that you can write little things to your\u2014the birthday person in your family\u2014and stick them on the wreath.\u00a0 We\u2019ll have, probably, Mother\u2019s Day, Father\u2019s Day\u2014all kinds of ideas.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You know what?\u00a0 Just sitting here, looking at this\u2014and again, I hope our listeners will go to FamilyLifeToday.com to see what you\u2019ve created.\u00a0 It\u2019s a metal wreath that can hang on a door or on a wall, but it also has a stand that goes with it.\u00a0 So, you can use it as a tabletop decoration.\u00a0 <br><br>The \u201cI AM\u201d piece\u2014that goes in the middle, for Easter\u2014is magnetized.\u00a0 It can be removed, and that\u2019s where you would place in something different for a different season of the year; but I\u2019m just looking at this and thinking, \u201cWe don\u2019t have any kids left at home, but I think Mary Ann would want this in our house.\u201d\u00a0 It\u2019s more than just sharing it with your kids.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s a statement that you make to remind yourself\u2014but to share with your guests, your friends\u2014whoever is over at the house\u2014that there is something important to you during the Easter season.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s important to us, particularly as women, because there is something about our home that is really important to us.\u00a0 I think we intuitively want to have our home be a reflection of what we believe and what\u2019s important to us.\u00a0 So, for many of us, as believing women, there\u2019s been kind of a lack of ways for us to make our home express our faith.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, one of the reasons that we created this, as a wreath\u2014an interactive wreath that you can use with your family\u2014instead of just putting the material that we wrote in a book\u2014is that it is a way for women to make a statement at home to your kids, your husband, to neighbors, friends, family members who come\u2014that this is the reason we celebrate Easter because it\u2019s all about Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.\u00a0 So, it\u2019s not just teaching knowledge to your kids, but it\u2019s communicating truth to them and then finding a way to display it beautifully in your home.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You\u2019ve been working on developing this for more than a year.\u00a0 In fact, last year, at Easter-time, you had a prototype of this\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014and shared it with some families.\u00a0 They used it.\u00a0 You asked them for feedback.\u00a0 What kinds of things were you hearing back from folks?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, one of the overriding response was: \u201cWhat I liked most was that it was simple.\u00a0 It was easy to use.\u00a0 There was a short little piece for us to interact with everyday.\u00a0 We were finished in five minutes.\u00a0 We could focus on one name a day.\u00a0 That was easy, and we could finish it in a week.\u201d\u00a0 There was something about that simplicity\u2014the ability to be kind of \u201cin and out\u201d quickly.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOne of the moms wrote me\u2014because I asked for feedback, in an email, to all of these 40 families who tested it for us.\u00a0 And one of the moms wrote back and said, \u201cOur kids are secretly enjoying this.\u201d\u00a0 Her kids are 15 and 12.\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, they\u2019re kind of at that age where they\u2019re too cool to really\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014admit that they like it; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 She said, \u201cOur kids are secretly enjoying this.\u00a0 Neither of them would ever admit it\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014\u201cbut I know it means something to them to see Daddy talking more about spiritual things.\u201d\u00a0 She went on to talk about how easy it was for her husband to be the one to lead.\u00a0 In fact, she wrote in another email that she was so excited because she had wanted her husband to lead the family, spiritually, for years.\u00a0 And she just kept hoping that it would happen.\u00a0 This was so easy for him to do because it\u2019s just reading a very, very short piece on a card\u2014that just a piece of paper\u2014folded in half, like a greeting card\u2014very small.\u00a0 She said, \u201cIt was so easy for him to do that he felt really successful.\u201d\u00a0 She loved it, which is why she commented.\u00a0 She said, \u201cI think it means a lot to my kids to see Daddy leading.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 By the end of the week, these cards, that share a short devotional message, have been inserted into the wreath, which is\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014there to hold the cards so that, as you look around the wreath, you see the statements of Jesus being the Messiah Jesus:\u00a0 \u201cI am the Bread of Life,\u201d \u201cI am the Light of the World,\u201d \u201cI am the Good Shepherd.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 And you look at the wreath, as it gets filled in each day, and it\u2019s filling in the picture of Who Jesus is.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m just sitting here, thinking:\u00a0 \u201cA week before Christmas, everybody is aware of the fact that Christmas is about a week away; but a week before Easter, unless somebody says to you, \u2018You know, Easter is next Sunday,\u2019 it\u2019s just not top-of-mind.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s not.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 This helps bring it top-of-mind so that every day, during Holy Week, you\u2019re aware of the fact that we\u2019re getting ready to remember the death of Jesus on Good Friday and the empty tomb on Resurrection Sunday.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 And that\u2019s exactly what I want to happen!\u00a0 I want to have families focusing, for a whole week, on the <em>magnitude<\/em> of this event.\u00a0 <br><br>One of my favorite things is on the Saturday card.\u00a0 When you get to Saturday, after Good Friday, you pull out the Saturday card.\u00a0 It says, \u201cI am the True Vine.\u201d\u00a0 In the part for teens and adults, it talks about what happened on Saturday.\u00a0 What happened to the disciples on Saturday?\u00a0 What was going on in Jerusalem?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOne of the suggestions is to kind of get that feel for the sadness, and the gloom, and the despair, and the hopelessness the disciples, and all of those who believed, felt\u2014cover your lights, pull down your shades\u2014kind of feel what that might have felt like to feel\u2014without hope.\u00a0 Then, it makes Resurrection Sunday that more exciting, that more celebratory.\u00a0 If you can walk through it, a day at a time, leading up to Resurrection Sunday, the experience is much more what it should be for us when we go to church, then, on Sunday morning.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, I just pulled it out of the burlap pouch, that you\u2019ve got all these cards in.\u00a0 This is, as you said, \u201cBehold the Lamb\u201d.\u00a0 \u201cI am the True Vine,\u201d\u2014Saturday\u2014it says: \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSilent Saturday for teens and adults:\u00a0 Very little is said, in any of the Gospels, about what happened on Saturday after Jesus died.\u00a0 It was the Sabbath Day.\u00a0 Like every other Sabbath Day, no work was done.\u00a0 People were in their homes, resting.\u00a0 Undoubtedly, they were remembering all that had happened the day before\u2014the crucifixions, the earthquake, and the temple curtain being torn.\u00a0 Certainly, nothing like this had occurred before.\u00a0 The Light of the World was gone.\u00a0 Darkness had returned.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThink about what the eleven disciples and the hundreds who had believed in Jesus were feeling that Sabbath Day:\u00a0 despair, depression, grief, unlike any other?\u00a0 What would you have thought\u2014that it was over?\u00a0 That it was all in vain?\u00a0 Had you misunderstood?\u00a0 But the miracles\u2014what about all those miracles?\u00a0 Jesus had said, \u201cI am the True Vine;\u201d but now, He was dead.\u00a0 And they felt lifeless, too.\u00a0 Their hearts were broken.\u00a0 Their heads bewildered.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAs a family, you might want to visualize the sadness and loss by covering all the lights with a black cloth or by closing your window shades, blinds, or curtains for the day.\u00a0 You may choose to not turn on any lights this Saturday.\u00a0 This is a day of waiting, but it can also be a day of preparation.\u00a0 Spend the day getting all in order for the joyous celebration coming tomorrow on Resurrection Day.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd I like that, Bob, because if Christ is still dead\u2014in 1 Corinthians 15, it says, \u201cThen, we are still in our sins.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 There\u2019s no hope.\u00a0 If He can\u2019t defeat death, what hope do we have beyond a grave?\u00a0 The answer is, \u201cWe don\u2019t.\u201d\u00a0 Every day is a day of despair; but because Christ did defeat death\u2014because He is alive, because He ascended and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father\u2014we have an Advocate.\u00a0 We have someone Who pleads our case\u2014Who died on our behalf.\u00a0 To me, that\u2019s the greatest news that\u2019s ever been proclaimed.\u00a0 It\u2019s the greatest privilege a parent has with his kids\u2014to introduce them to the One who brought light back, where there was darkness.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, I\u2019m curious.\u00a0 With the wreath that you\u2019ve created, and with these eight devotionals, is this something that you draw attention to on Palm Sunday?\u00a0 You say: \u201cKids, it is Palm Sunday.\u00a0 It\u2019s a special day.\u00a0 We\u2019re going to kick-off the week with the first part of this.\u201d\u00a0 You get it out, and put it up then; or do you have it up throughout Lent?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2014you know, I think you can do it either way.\u00a0 I think, for younger kids, there is something about the drama, and \u201cTa-da!\u201d, and the drum roll of making a big production about putting it up on Palm Sunday.\u00a0 So, I think there\u2019s real merit in doing it that way; but I also think that, for some families, you might want to get it now and put it up for the last few weeks of Lent.\u00a0 Then, do something purposeful to kick-off Palm Sunday and Holy Week with your family.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 I would just suggest homemade cinnamon rolls on Palm Sunday because\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 That sounds good.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Why am I not surprised that you would have food associated with this?\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 We\u2019re going to draw attention\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Will you make some for us?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You know, make it a special day.\u00a0 I\u2019ll see if I can get Mary Ann to put some of those together.\u00a0 She did some recently that were very good, by the way.\u00a0 But there is something\u2014if you have a special breakfast\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Sure.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014on that morning, it says to the kids: \u201cHey, we\u2019re setting this day aside as not just another Sunday\u2014but a Sunday when we\u2019re excited.\u00a0 We\u2019re getting ready for something very exciting.\u00a0 This is Easter week.\u00a0 This is Holy Week.\u00a0 We\u2019re going to be talking about Jesus this week because next Sunday is Easter, and we want to get ready for that.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And the thing I like about it\u2014and the feedback we got from the 40 families who tried it\u2014is it\u2019s just eight days long.\u00a0 It\u2019s not something you\u2019ve got to do over a long period of time.\u00a0 It\u2019s everyday from Sunday to Sunday.\u00a0 I think parents will be surprised at how their kids will remind them: \u201cHey, we haven\u2019t pulled out the card for today.\u00a0 What\u2019s the message for today?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBecause it basically\u2014although not specifically\u2014it basically walks you through the last, really, six days of Jesus\u2019 life until Friday, when He died on the Cross.\u00a0 Then, it talks about Saturday.\u00a0 Then, of course, you celebrate on Resurrection Sunday.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, and if you have younger children in the home, the \u201cResurrection Eggs\u201d<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, that FamilyLife has designed and has made available for years, does exactly what you\u2019re talking about.\u00a0 It starts on Palm Sunday.\u00a0 The first egg you open has a little donkey in it.\u00a0 So, it talks about Jesus coming in and the Triumphal Entry on a donkey.\u00a0 Then, each of the other eggs that you open up has a different object that\u2019s designed to walk you through the events of Holy Week, right up to the cross.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou open one of the \u201cResurrection Eggs\u201d, and there are nails in it to signify the nails that were used to crucify Christ.\u00a0 Then, you get to the last egg.\u00a0 You open it up and there\u2019s a surprise.\u00a0 I\u2019m not going to give away the surprise, but kids get surprised when they open that last egg.\u00a0 It takes them by surprise, but it really does drive home the idea that Jesus is risen from the dead.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m thinking the \u201cResurrection Eggs\u201d, together with \u201cBehold the Lamb\u201d, gives you opportunities\u2014multiple opportunities, throughout the day\u2014maybe one in the morning, one in the evening\u2014different ways that you can communicate this to children and can remind yourself of what happened during the first Holy Week, back when Jesus was crucified.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And I also know this is really part of what, both, Barbara and I pound the table about\u2014that goes all the way back to Deuteronomy 6.\u00a0 We really believe it\u2019s the parents\u2019 responsibility to pass on the truth about God and your experience\u2014your own experience\u2014with God and with Jesus Christ to your children.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 Really, it\u2019s more than just our responsibility.\u00a0 It\u2019s really our privilege to be the one who can communicate the truth of what you know about God, what you know about Jesus Christ, and your relationship with Him\u2014to be able to do that with your children in such a way that your children catch that, and they understand that, and they, then, want that.\u00a0 There\u2019s no greater joy on earth than being able to lead your children to know Christ so that they, too, will one day be in heaven with you.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 I have to tell you.\u00a0 Just looking at the wreath\u2014and again, I hope our listeners will go to FamilyLifeToday.com to see what the wreath looks like because you can\u2019t appreciate it until you have a chance to see the wreath\u2014the \u201cI AM\u201d banner that goes across the middle, the metallic banner\u2014the pedestal on which the wreath sits so that you can either hang it in your home or\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhat I imagine what will happen at our home\u2014and I say, \u201cI imagine,\u201d because Mary Ann is in charge of home decorations.\u00a0 I have zero to do; and as you know, that\u2019s a good thing\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 It is a good thing.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014that I have zero to do\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 I have experience.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014with how the home is decorated\u2014but I imagine that this will be placed on a tabletop in our living room, or I could also see it on the front hall table\u2014\u201cthe mail table\u201d \u2014we call it.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Where you come in your house?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, where you come in the house.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s what I was thinking.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s right there, on that front hall table.\u00a0 I can see, honestly, when Easter is over, this not getting packed up and put back in the box because it doesn\u2019t just say, \u201cEaster\u201d.\u00a0 It says, \u201cI AM\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Exactly.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014and you can make that statement year-round.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Then, come Thanksgiving, next year, you\u2019ll have the new banner.\u00a0 We can take down the magnetic \u201cI AM\u201d banner.\u00a0 We can put up the one that says, \u201cForget not\u201d, and you use that to remind yourself and others of the things you\u2019re thankful for.\u00a0 You can put those cards in the wreath, as you go through that.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br>Then, at Valentine\u2019s Day in 2014, we\u2019ll take down the \u201cForget not\u201d, and we\u2019ll put up\u2014I don\u2019t know\u2014\u201cLove\u201d or whatever\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Something about love.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Something about love.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 We don\u2019t know yet.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 And so, I can see this being a permanent fixture on our mail table or on that living room table.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure where it\u2019ll go, but I\u2019ll report back to you on that.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 You can let me know.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, the big idea is to recapture the message of Easter and pass it on to your kids.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI remember, for me, as a college student, the message of Easter\u2014that the tomb is empty, that Christ is alive from the dead, and that there was great evidence from history that Jesus had defeated death\u2014that became\u2014in my opinion, for my faith, for who I am as a follower of Christ today\u2014really a center point\u2014the foundation of my faith because if you could disprove the Resurrection, if you could disprove that Christ came back from the dead, you could disprove Christianity.\u00a0 As some have said, \u201cAll of Christianity rises and falls on whether Jesus Christ did defeat death and whether that tomb truly was empty.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd a good friend of mine, Josh McDowell, wrote a book called <em>Evidence That Demands a Verdict<\/em>.\u00a0 I heard him speak, as a college student, and present the evidence for the Resurrection\u2014the true message of Easter\u2014that Christ had died for our sins, He defeated death and was alive\u2014and because He was alive, He could come into my life\u2014forgive me of my sin, and give me purpose and meaning.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI just wonder, right now, if we\u2019re not talking to somebody, who\u2019s listened in to this broadcast, who doesn\u2019t know Him\u2014and I\u2019d just say to you: \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIf you don\u2019t know Him, it\u2019s time.\u00a0 It\u2019s time for you to surrender.\u00a0 Say: \u201cLord, Jesus, You\u2019re alive from the dead.\u00a0 You\u2019re here.\u201d\u00a0 He\u2019s the One who promised you eternal life.\u00a0 He promised you forgiveness of sins.\u00a0 He promised He\u2019d come into your life\u2014change your life, and begin to make you the kind of man\u2014the kind of woman, the kind of boy\/girl\u2014that God created you to be.\u00a0 Take Him up on His claim.\u00a0 Right now, you can do it.\u00a0 It\u2019s just a simple matter of speaking to Him in prayer.\u00a0 unborn\u2014\u201cand arise to tell them to their children.\u201d\u00a0 Barbara Rainey says, \u201cWe have a responsibility to pass our faith on to the next generation.\u201d did your wife\u2014Barbara\u2014were there always crafts around?\u00a0 I\u2019m just wondering if she was a crafty mom.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 She was pretty crafty, but I wouldn\u2019t say that there were a lot of crafts around.\u00a0 What do you say, Honey?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, there kind of were.\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Really?!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, don\u2019t you remember when the kids were really little? I was trying to still do my painting?\u00a0 Then, I put that away.\u00a0 Then, I sewed kids\u2019 clothes.\u00a0 Then, I\u2014they grew out of that.\u00a0 Then, I was doing quilting.\u00a0 Then, I was painting rooms.\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 I was actually thinking of whether they were the ones that were\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014doing the crafts.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014doing the crafts.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oh.\u00a0 No, it was me.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 She tried.\u00a0 She tried to do it, but when they left\u2014when they fled the \u201cpenitentiary\u201d and all got married\u2014all except one\u2014she began to really cut loose and begin to exhibit many of her talents, in terms of creativity and her love for the Scriptures, to equip families to better pass on the truth about Jesus Christ to their kids.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 The reason we\u2019re talking about arts and crafts, and the Scriptures, and your passion for these things\u2014and by the way, welcome back to <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Thank you.\u00a0\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014we\u2019re talking about this because of a resource that you\u2019ve been working on and developing that\u2019s part of a series of resources.\u00a0 At Christmastime, we shared with our listeners about ornaments that you can hang on your tree called \u201cAdorenaments\u201d<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> that share the names of Christ.\u00a0 And we sold out of all of those that we had.\u00a0 In fact, you are working on a set of new \u201cAdorenaments\u201d for next year.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, we\u2019ll have the ones we had from last year\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s correct.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014and a whole new set for this year.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s correct.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Then, you\u2019ve developed this\u2014it\u2019s not really just a devotional book.\u00a0 It\u2019s an interactive devotional that families are using during the Lenten season called \u201cThe Messiah Mystery\u201d<sup>\u2122<\/sup>\u2014and folks are engaged with that.\u00a0 And now, you\u2019ve come up with a wreath that families can use at Easter that is called \u201cBehold the Lamb\u201d.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tActually, is the wreath called \u201cBehold the Lamb\u201d, or have you got this all\u2014because \u201cBehold the Lamb\u201d\u201d is kind of the Easter version of the wreath; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \u201c\u201cBehold the Lamb\u201d is the Easter version of the wreath.\u00a0 We don\u2019t have a name for the wreath by itself.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, stay tuned.\u00a0 We\u2019ll figure that out.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, there\u2019s a reason for that because\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014the wreath is actually designed to carry multiple messages, through various events that occur around a family.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s right.\u00a0 Well said.\u00a0 That\u2019s correct.\u00a0 We\u2019ve designed this wreath and created it so that it can be used at Easter.\u00a0 This year, this will be the first time that the wreath will be available.\u00a0 So, when you buy the wreath, you will get the wreath; and you will get the Easter kit that you take your family through for the week of Holy Week.\u00a0 But after Easter is over, you can use the wreath for other purposes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tEventually, we will have a product that will go with it that will focus on gratitude.\u00a0 We will have one on Valentine\u2019s\u2014where you can teach your children about love, and what God\u2019s love means, and all about love for the first two weeks in February.\u00a0 We will have, probably, a birthday kit so that you can write little things to your\u2014the birthday person in your family\u2014and stick them on the wreath.\u00a0 We\u2019ll have, probably, Mother\u2019s Day, Father\u2019s Day\u2014all kinds of ideas.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You know what?\u00a0 Just sitting here, looking at this\u2014and again, I hope our listeners will go to FamilyLifeToday.com to see what you\u2019ve created.\u00a0 It\u2019s a metal wreath that can hang on a door or on a wall, but it also has a stand that goes with it.\u00a0 So, you can use it as a tabletop decoration.\u00a0 <br><br>The \u201cI AM\u201d piece\u2014that goes in the middle, for Easter\u2014is magnetized.\u00a0 It can be removed, and that\u2019s where you would place in something different for a different season of the year; but I\u2019m just looking at this and thinking, \u201cWe don\u2019t have any kids left at home, but I think Mary Ann would want this in our house.\u201d\u00a0 It\u2019s more than just sharing it with your kids.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s a statement that you make to remind yourself\u2014but to share with your guests, your friends\u2014whoever is over at the house\u2014that there is something important to you during the Easter season.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s important to us, particularly as women, because there is something about our home that is really important to us.\u00a0 I think we intuitively want to have our home be a reflection of what we believe and what\u2019s important to us.\u00a0 So, for many of us, as believing women, there\u2019s been kind of a lack of ways for us to make our home express our faith.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, one of the reasons that we created this, as a wreath\u2014an interactive wreath that you can use with your family\u2014instead of just putting the material that we wrote in a book\u2014is that it is a way for women to make a statement at home to your kids, your husband, to neighbors, friends, family members who come\u2014that this is the reason we celebrate Easter because it\u2019s all about Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.\u00a0 So, it\u2019s not just teaching knowledge to your kids, but it\u2019s communicating truth to them and then finding a way to display it beautifully in your home.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You\u2019ve been working on developing this for more than a year.\u00a0 In fact, last year, at Easter-time, you had a prototype of this\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014and shared it with some families.\u00a0 They used it.\u00a0 You asked them for feedback.\u00a0 What kinds of things were you hearing back from folks?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, one of the overriding response was: \u201cWhat I liked most was that it was simple.\u00a0 It was easy to use.\u00a0 There was a short little piece for us to interact with everyday.\u00a0 We were finished in five minutes.\u00a0 We could focus on one name a day.\u00a0 That was easy, and we could finish it in a week.\u201d\u00a0 There was something about that simplicity\u2014the ability to be kind of \u201cin and out\u201d quickly.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOne of the moms wrote me\u2014because I asked for feedback, in an email, to all of these 40 families who tested it for us.\u00a0 And one of the moms wrote back and said, \u201cOur kids are secretly enjoying this.\u201d\u00a0 Her kids are 15 and 12.\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, they\u2019re kind of at that age where they\u2019re too cool to really\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014admit that they like it; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 She said, \u201cOur kids are secretly enjoying this.\u00a0 Neither of them would ever admit it\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014\u201cbut I know it means something to them to see Daddy talking more about spiritual things.\u201d\u00a0 She went on to talk about how easy it was for her husband to be the one to lead.\u00a0 In fact, she wrote in another email that she was so excited because she had wanted her husband to lead the family, spiritually, for years.\u00a0 And she just kept hoping that it would happen.\u00a0 This was so easy for him to do because it\u2019s just reading a very, very short piece on a card\u2014that just a piece of paper\u2014folded in half, like a greeting card\u2014very small.\u00a0 She said, \u201cIt was so easy for him to do that he felt really successful.\u201d\u00a0 She loved it, which is why she commented.\u00a0 She said, \u201cI think it means a lot to my kids to see Daddy leading.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 By the end of the week, these cards, that share a short devotional message, have been inserted into the wreath, which is\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014there to hold the cards so that, as you look around the wreath, you see the statements of Jesus being the Messiah Jesus:\u00a0 \u201cI am the Bread of Life,\u201d \u201cI am the Light of the World,\u201d \u201cI am the Good Shepherd.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 And you look at the wreath, as it gets filled in each day, and it\u2019s filling in the picture of Who Jesus is.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m just sitting here, thinking:\u00a0 \u201cA week before Christmas, everybody is aware of the fact that Christmas is about a week away; but a week before Easter, unless somebody says to you, \u2018You know, Easter is next Sunday,\u2019 it\u2019s just not top-of-mind.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s not.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 This helps bring it top-of-mind so that every day, during Holy Week, you\u2019re aware of the fact that we\u2019re getting ready to remember the death of Jesus on Good Friday and the empty tomb on Resurrection Sunday.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 And that\u2019s exactly what I want to happen!\u00a0 I want to have families focusing, for a whole week, on the <em>magnitude<\/em> of this event.\u00a0 <br><br>One of my favorite things is on the Saturday card.\u00a0 When you get to Saturday, after Good Friday, you pull out the Saturday card.\u00a0 It says, \u201cI am the True Vine.\u201d\u00a0 In the part for teens and adults, it talks about what happened on Saturday.\u00a0 What happened to the disciples on Saturday?\u00a0 What was going on in Jerusalem?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOne of the suggestions is to kind of get that feel for the sadness, and the gloom, and the despair, and the hopelessness the disciples, and all of those who believed, felt\u2014cover your lights, pull down your shades\u2014kind of feel what that might have felt like to feel\u2014without hope.\u00a0 Then, it makes Resurrection Sunday that more exciting, that more celebratory.\u00a0 If you can walk through it, a day at a time, leading up to Resurrection Sunday, the experience is much more what it should be for us when we go to church, then, on Sunday morning.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, I just pulled it out of the burlap pouch, that you\u2019ve got all these cards in.\u00a0 This is, as you said, \u201cBehold the Lamb\u201d.\u00a0 \u201cI am the True Vine,\u201d\u2014Saturday\u2014it says: \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSilent Saturday for teens and adults:\u00a0 Very little is said, in any of the Gospels, about what happened on Saturday after Jesus died.\u00a0 It was the Sabbath Day.\u00a0 Like every other Sabbath Day, no work was done.\u00a0 People were in their homes, resting.\u00a0 Undoubtedly, they were remembering all that had happened the day before\u2014the crucifixions, the earthquake, and the temple curtain being torn.\u00a0 Certainly, nothing like this had occurred before.\u00a0 The Light of the World was gone.\u00a0 Darkness had returned.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThink about what the eleven disciples and the hundreds who had believed in Jesus were feeling that Sabbath Day:\u00a0 despair, depression, grief, unlike any other?\u00a0 What would you have thought\u2014that it was over?\u00a0 That it was all in vain?\u00a0 Had you misunderstood?\u00a0 But the miracles\u2014what about all those miracles?\u00a0 Jesus had said, \u201cI am the True Vine;\u201d but now, He was dead.\u00a0 And they felt lifeless, too.\u00a0 Their hearts were broken.\u00a0 Their heads bewildered.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAs a family, you might want to visualize the sadness and loss by covering all the lights with a black cloth or by closing your window shades, blinds, or curtains for the day.\u00a0 You may choose to not turn on any lights this Saturday.\u00a0 This is a day of waiting, but it can also be a day of preparation.\u00a0 Spend the day getting all in order for the joyous celebration coming tomorrow on Resurrection Day.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd I like that, Bob, because if Christ is still dead\u2014in 1 Corinthians 15, it says, \u201cThen, we are still in our sins.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 There\u2019s no hope.\u00a0 If He can\u2019t defeat death, what hope do we have beyond a grave?\u00a0 The answer is, \u201cWe don\u2019t.\u201d\u00a0 Every day is a day of despair; but because Christ did defeat death\u2014because He is alive, because He ascended and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father\u2014we have an Advocate.\u00a0 We have someone Who pleads our case\u2014Who died on our behalf.\u00a0 To me, that\u2019s the greatest news that\u2019s ever been proclaimed.\u00a0 It\u2019s the greatest privilege a parent has with his kids\u2014to introduce them to the One who brought light back, where there was darkness.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, I\u2019m curious.\u00a0 With the wreath that you\u2019ve created, and with these eight devotionals, is this something that you draw attention to on Palm Sunday?\u00a0 You say: \u201cKids, it is Palm Sunday.\u00a0 It\u2019s a special day.\u00a0 We\u2019re going to kick-off the week with the first part of this.\u201d\u00a0 You get it out, and put it up then; or do you have it up throughout Lent?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2014you know, I think you can do it either way.\u00a0 I think, for younger kids, there is something about the drama, and \u201cTa-da!\u201d, and the drum roll of making a big production about putting it up on Palm Sunday.\u00a0 So, I think there\u2019s real merit in doing it that way; but I also think that, for some families, you might want to get it now and put it up for the last few weeks of Lent.\u00a0 Then, do something purposeful to kick-off Palm Sunday and Holy Week with your family.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 I would just suggest homemade cinnamon rolls on Palm Sunday because\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 That sounds good.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Why am I not surprised that you would have food associated with this?\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 We\u2019re going to draw attention\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Will you make some for us?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You know, make it a special day.\u00a0 I\u2019ll see if I can get Mary Ann to put some of those together.\u00a0 She did some recently that were very good, by the way.\u00a0 But there is something\u2014if you have a special breakfast\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Sure.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014on that morning, it says to the kids: \u201cHey, we\u2019re setting this day aside as not just another Sunday\u2014but a Sunday when we\u2019re excited.\u00a0 We\u2019re getting ready for something very exciting.\u00a0 This is Easter week.\u00a0 This is Holy Week.\u00a0 We\u2019re going to be talking about Jesus this week because next Sunday is Easter, and we want to get ready for that.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And the thing I like about it\u2014and the feedback we got from the 40 families who tried it\u2014is it\u2019s just eight days long.\u00a0 It\u2019s not something you\u2019ve got to do over a long period of time.\u00a0 It\u2019s everyday from Sunday to Sunday.\u00a0 I think parents will be surprised at how their kids will remind them: \u201cHey, we haven\u2019t pulled out the card for today.\u00a0 What\u2019s the message for today?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBecause it basically\u2014although not specifically\u2014it basically walks you through the last, really, six days of Jesus\u2019 life until Friday, when He died on the Cross.\u00a0 Then, it talks about Saturday.\u00a0 Then, of course, you celebrate on Resurrection Sunday.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, and if you have younger children in the home, the \u201cResurrection Eggs\u201d<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, that FamilyLife has designed and has made available for years, does exactly what you\u2019re talking about.\u00a0 It starts on Palm Sunday.\u00a0 The first egg you open has a little donkey in it.\u00a0 So, it talks about Jesus coming in and the Triumphal Entry on a donkey.\u00a0 Then, each of the other eggs that you open up has a different object that\u2019s designed to walk you through the events of Holy Week, right up to the cross.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou open one of the \u201cResurrection Eggs\u201d, and there are nails in it to signify the nails that were used to crucify Christ.\u00a0 Then, you get to the last egg.\u00a0 You open it up and there\u2019s a surprise.\u00a0 I\u2019m not going to give away the surprise, but kids get surprised when they open that last egg.\u00a0 It takes them by surprise, but it really does drive home the idea that Jesus is risen from the dead.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m thinking the \u201cResurrection Eggs\u201d, together with \u201cBehold the Lamb\u201d, gives you opportunities\u2014multiple opportunities, throughout the day\u2014maybe one in the morning, one in the evening\u2014different ways that you can communicate this to children and can remind yourself of what happened during the first Holy Week, back when Jesus was crucified.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And I also know this is really part of what, both, Barbara and I pound the table about\u2014that goes all the way back to Deuteronomy 6.\u00a0 We really believe it\u2019s the parents\u2019 responsibility to pass on the truth about God and your experience\u2014your own experience\u2014with God and with Jesus Christ to your children.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 Really, it\u2019s more than just our responsibility.\u00a0 It\u2019s really our privilege to be the one who can communicate the truth of what you know about God, what you know about Jesus Christ, and your relationship with Him\u2014to be able to do that with your children in such a way that your children catch that, and they understand that, and they, then, want that.\u00a0 There\u2019s no greater joy on earth than being able to lead your children to know Christ so that they, too, will one day be in heaven with you.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 I have to tell you.\u00a0 Just looking at the wreath\u2014and again, I hope our listeners will go to FamilyLifeToday.com to see what the wreath looks like because you can\u2019t appreciate it until you have a chance to see the wreath\u2014the \u201cI AM\u201d banner that goes across the middle, the metallic banner\u2014the pedestal on which the wreath sits so that you can either hang it in your home or\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhat I imagine what will happen at our home\u2014and I say, \u201cI imagine,\u201d because Mary Ann is in charge of home decorations.\u00a0 I have zero to do; and as you know, that\u2019s a good thing\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 It is a good thing.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014that I have zero to do\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 I have experience.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014with how the home is decorated\u2014but I imagine that this will be placed on a tabletop in our living room, or I could also see it on the front hall table\u2014\u201cthe mail table\u201d \u2014we call it.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Where you come in your house?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, where you come in the house.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s what I was thinking.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s right there, on that front hall table.\u00a0 I can see, honestly, when Easter is over, this not getting packed up and put back in the box because it doesn\u2019t just say, \u201cEaster\u201d.\u00a0 It says, \u201cI AM\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Exactly.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014and you can make that statement year-round.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Then, come Thanksgiving, next year, you\u2019ll have the new banner.\u00a0 We can take down the magnetic \u201cI AM\u201d banner.\u00a0 We can put up the one that says, \u201cForget not\u201d, and you use that to remind yourself and others of the things you\u2019re thankful for.\u00a0 You can put those cards in the wreath, as you go through that.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br>Then, at Valentine\u2019s Day in 2014, we\u2019ll take down the \u201cForget not\u201d, and we\u2019ll put up\u2014I don\u2019t know\u2014\u201cLove\u201d or whatever\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 Something about love.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Something about love.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 We don\u2019t know yet.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 And so, I can see this being a permanent fixture on our mail table or on that living room table.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure where it\u2019ll go, but I\u2019ll report back to you on that.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Barbara:<\/strong>\u00a0 You can let me know.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, the big idea is to recapture the message of Easter and pass it on to your kids.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI remember, for me, as a college student, the message of Easter\u2014that the tomb is empty, that Christ is alive from the dead, and that there was great evidence from history that Jesus had defeated death\u2014that became\u2014in my opinion, for my faith, for who I am as a follower of Christ today\u2014really a center point\u2014the foundation of my faith because if you could disprove the Resurrection, if you could disprove that Christ came back from the dead, you could disprove Christianity.\u00a0 As some have said, \u201cAll of Christianity rises and falls on whether Jesus Christ did defeat death and whether that tomb truly was empty.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd a good friend of mine, Josh McDowell, wrote a book called <em>Evidence That Demands a Verdict<\/em>.\u00a0 I heard him speak, as a college student, and present the evidence for the Resurrection\u2014the true message of Easter\u2014that Christ had died for our sins, He defeated death and was alive\u2014and because He was alive, He could come into my life\u2014forgive me of my sin, and give me purpose and meaning.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI just wonder, right now, if we\u2019re not talking to somebody, who\u2019s listened in to this broadcast, who doesn\u2019t know Him\u2014and I\u2019d just say to you: \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIf you don\u2019t know Him, it\u2019s time.\u00a0 It\u2019s time for you to surrender.\u00a0 Say: \u201cLord, Jesus, You\u2019re alive from the dead.\u00a0 You\u2019re here.\u201d\u00a0 He\u2019s the One who promised you eternal life.\u00a0 He promised you forgiveness of sins.\u00a0 He promised He\u2019d come into your life\u2014change your life, and begin to make you the kind of man\u2014the kind of woman, the kind of boy\/girl\u2014that God created you to be.\u00a0 Take Him up on His claim.\u00a0 Right now, you can do it.\u00a0 It\u2019s just a simple matter of speaking to Him in prayer.\u00a0
