right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s correct.\u00a0 That\u2019s correct.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, I\u2019m thinking of a wife who is planning for that weekend.\u00a0 She\u2019s got the option of either her husband, on Saturday, doing all the projects around the house so that he can watch the game on Sunday; or she can send him to the <em>Stepping Up<\/em><em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/em> Super Saturday event, down at the church, that\u2019s happening in their community.\u00a0 We\u2019ve got hundreds of churches that are participating in this; but she\u2019s not going to get any \u201cHoney, do\u201d lists done that day.\u00a0 What would your counsel to her be, Dennis?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Give up the \u201cHoney, do\u201d list for a day.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 How did I know that was what you would suggest?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Give it up!\u00a0 I\u2019m not trying to be a guy who is abdicating responsibility.\u00a0 I\u2019m actually\u2014I\u2019m actually encouraging you, as a wife, to look beyond the \u201cHoney, do\u201d list and beyond to making an investment in your husband\u2019s life\u2014to encourage him, not discourage him\u2014 but encourage him to become the man God made him to be.\u00a0 If you send him down to the <em>Stepping Up<\/em> Super Saturday event\u2014I can\u2019t guarantee this because he\u2019s got a choice\u2014he\u2019s got a real choice, and some guys don\u2019t make it; but there is still an opportunity for a guy to say, \u201cOur church isn\u2019t doing this, but I\u2019d like for our church to do it.\u201d\u00a0 You can still sign up.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Exactly, Bob.\u00a0 Don\u2019t wait for your pastor to sign your church up.\u00a0 Maybe, as a man, you grab the baton and take it to your pastor and say, \u201cLet\u2019s do this thing!\u00a0 Let\u2019s make this happen in our community.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m looking across the table, and there\u2019s a guy asking for the microphone and the soapbox.\u00a0 Kenny Luck joins us.\u00a0 He\u2019s the Men\u2019s Pastor at Saddleback Church.\u00a0 He\u2019s written a book called <em>Sleeping Giant<\/em>.\u00a0 He\u2019s all over the issue of men stepping up.\u00a0 You believe women are important if men are going to step up; don\u2019t you?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oh, my goodness, Dennis!\u00a0 When you guys were talking about\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You were having a hard time being quiet.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 I was just saying\u2014the hall pass\u2014\u201cLadies, here\u2019s the deal.\u00a0 When you do give permission for a desired activity\u2014but more importantly, when you encourage your man to take ownership of his life\u2014spiritually, relationally, maritally\u2014 in the context of other men, that\u2019s when you get a solid result versus hinting, hoping, nagging.\u00a0 It\u2019s just something where he feels that he needs to make that decision on his own\u2014in consideration of you\u2014but in the presence of other men, as an individual man.\u00a0 It\u2019s that ownership-thing, where it is: \u2018This is my decision, and I want to own it\u2014apart from being in your presence\u2014even though I love you\u2014and apart from being connected to you as a husband and father, who has many shortcomings\u2014I want to make this decision myself.\u2019\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, when you were talking about \u201cHey, let him go. Ladies, let him go!\u00a0 It will be so encouraging to him,\u201d \u2014that\u2019s the first point.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br>Second point was, I think, when we talk about waking the sleeping giant\u2014when we talk about getting guys in and healthy, and what that means for the women and children\u2014not just in our country, but worldwide\u2014I think that women are going to be the accelerator of that.\u00a0 My feedback\u2014thousands of emails from men\u2014tells me that, many times, when they make a strong step toward health and God\u2014that is met with cynicism, skepticism, or just ambivalence\u2014maybe because of the past\u2014maybe because of failed promises\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014in the past.\u00a0 I think, once men feel and hear from their bride\u2014their sisters-in-Christ\u2014encouragement\u2014and also, women-to-women\u2014where instead of\u2014as you\u2019re at tennis, or the coffee shop, or connecting with the toddlers\u2014 jumping on the band wagon of man-bashing, as the failed brand.\u00a0 Those of you who have a good, strong, godly man, you can step in and say, \u201cYou know what?\u00a0 I don\u2019t what you\u2019re talking about.\u00a0 My guy\u2014he prays with my kids.\u00a0 He loves and cherishes me.\u00a0 He honors me.\u201d\u00a0 You know what your friends will say?\u00a0 \u201cDoes he\u2014I have a sister.\u00a0 Does he have a brother?\u201d\u00a0 You know?\u00a0 That\u2019s what women are looking for.\u00a0 So, ladies, I just want to encourage you to, as we talk about this movement of men\u2014healthy men\u2014we need your voice because when we talk about it\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014it kind of falls flat.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You talk about the fact that the men\u2019s culture in America is a broken culture.\u00a0 Do you think it\u2019s always been that way?\u00a0 Do you think it\u2019s true in other cultures?\u00a0 I\u2019m just wondering\u2014I mean we live in a broken world.\u00a0 So, at some level, everything is broken.\u00a0 But has there ever been a time when you\u2019ve looked back and say, \u201cThey understood masculinity, back there, or over here, or\u2014\u201d?\u00a0 You know?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 I think it\u2019s just more visible now.\u00a0 I think broken male culture is just more visible in this age of technology, and smart phones, and cause, and internet, and the tsunami of information that\u2019s becoming available\u2014portable and presentable to the world.\u00a0 For 20 centuries, men have had broken, male subculture to deal with power, and pressure, and responsibilities.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s gotten increasingly less hush, hush and more out-in-the-open, where it\u2019s a news bite, almost on a daily-basis\u2014some celebrity man, some athlete, some politician who has either cheated on his wife\u2014I mean, in the past, you didn\u2019t have that kind of visibility and awareness.\u00a0 It was more hidden.\u00a0 Now, it\u2019s dark times for men because you don\u2019t see an equal display of that on the female side\u2014although, it\u2019s there.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI was just reading an article by Richard Conniff, in the <em>New York Times<\/em>, talking about how men are the failed brand\u2014that because of the tsunami of negative characterization in the media, in Hollywood, in commercials\u2014what you have is men retreating from the caricature and withdrawing from responsibility.\u00a0\u00a0 What\u2019s interesting, though, on the female-side, is that, with the advent of, what I would call\u2014female-independence, politically; female independence, financially; female independence, educationally; relationally, from men\u2014with distancing of the need for a woman to depend on a man\u2014they now have the power, and pressure, and responsibility that goes with that.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 And guess what?\u00a0 They are developing their own broken female-subculture as evidenced by <em>Fifty Shades of Grey<\/em>.\u00a0 They\u2019re looking for diversions and relief from that pressure of assuming life, without partnership with a man.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 What I hear you saying, Kenny, is if there has ever been a time for the Christian community to step up and not bash men\u2014not blame men, not shame men, not point their fingers at men and say, \u201cGrow up!\u00a0 Become God\u2019s man,\u201d \u2014it\u2019s today.\u00a0 It\u2019s time for the Christian community to pull out the Bible\u2014and again, not thump men with it\u2014but invite men to engage with God, with other men, and then, engage in a mission because man wasn\u2019t made to just be in idle\u2014just to be in neutral.\u00a0 He was meant to be headed toward a finish line.\u00a0 He was meant to conquer evil.\u00a0 That\u2019s why God has put us here.\u00a0 We have an assignment that only we can fulfill that God is calling us to today.\u00a0 You believe, as I do, that men are really important in that assignment.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 You put it front and center.\u00a0 I think a resonator is when you solve an ongoing problem\u2014when you have an ongoing problem that\u2019s unresolved.\u00a0 When you resolve it\u2014 that is what we call a resonator.\u00a0 It\u2019s a break-through.\u00a0 Books on purpose:\u00a0 for example, \u201cWho am I?\u00a0 Where am I going?\u201d \u2014that\u2019s a resonator.\u00a0 Every person asks that question.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe number two resonator in the world, at the moment, is pain and suffering.\u00a0 When you look at the dark backdrop of all that\u2019s going on\u2014particularly connected with men or connected to male character and conduct\u2014whether it\u2019s orphans, HIV, sex trafficking, fatherlessness, the demand\u2014you see this darkness that you described, Dennis.\u00a0 But I remember when I bought Chrissy\u2019s wedding ring.\u00a0 The jeweler put the diamond against the black velvet, and I could see every sparkle.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI feel like what we\u2019re doing with <em>Stepping Up<\/em> and <em>Sleeping Giant<\/em>\u2014and teaming up on this\u2014is, I believe, that God\u2019s men and men-at-large are going to be the dazzling diamonds against the black backdrop of some of these issues\u2014and men and women uniting and rising, above gender wars and blaming, as the body. As Philippians 2 says, \u201cIf there is any encouragement or affection in Christ, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, united in spirit.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 I think that\u2019s what God\u2019s Spirit is doing in this country among men and women\u2014is He\u2019s helping us to rise above and transcend what\u2019s happening in culture, as the body, and encourage each other and unite.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Tell me what you\u2019ve seen happen in a local church when men start to get healthy and get going\u2014and it is taking root.\u00a0 You\u2019ve seen churches where this is happening.\u00a0 What does that do to the church, as a whole?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, I think of the local pastor, first of all\u2014especially, most churches are under 300 people.\u00a0 I got a note just the other day from a local pastor.\u00a0 He has a congregation of 175 people.\u00a0 Nine men, because they had adopted the <em>Sleeping Giant<\/em> process and pathway, were baptized this last Sunday.\u00a0 It\u2019s almost like he was crying through the email.\u00a0 Here he has help on the way.\u00a0 \u201cThe Calvary is coming!\u201d\u00a0 He has a process to get them healthy.\u00a0 He has a strategy to move them into leadership.\u00a0 In most churches that are that small, the pastor needs men forming ranks around him, with his DNA\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, he does.\u00a0 Yes, he does.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014and so, when they don\u2019t have that, then, we end up hiring disciples versus making disciples and adding staff, which is, for many, prohibitive.\u00a0 So, when the local church\u2014local churches that I see, early adopters to the <em>Sleeping Giant<\/em> model, the pastors are writing me and going, \u201cI never knew this could be.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t know that I could be the main beneficiary of a solid outreach to men, where we not only develop the man but we develop the leader;\u201d and they form ranks around that\u2014that senior pastor.\u00a0 That\u2019s really where I feel there is going to be a large Kingdom advance of the Great Commission and the Great Commandment, locally, worldwide.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019m imagining the pastor who is thinking, \u201cYou know, I\u2019d love to see guys energized and mobilized as long as they\u2019re energized and mobilized for what I think they ought to be doing.\u00a0 I\u2019m concerned they\u2019re going to get energized and mobilized and go head in their own direction and have their own agenda.\u00a0 You know, what do I do then?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 <br>\u00a0\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, that\u2019s what I talk about in the book.\u00a0 I talk about rogue men\u2019s ministries, where\u2014if you don\u2019t have a larger vision than just to meet an issue or a need in a man\u2019s life, and if you don\u2019t link the meeting of needs in the church with men to a larger vision of involvement, then, what happens is it becomes self-serving\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014and we\u2019re just sponsoring rooms, coffee, and donuts.\u00a0 They can go do that outside the church.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 But if there is a higher vision of, \u201cHey, you\u2019re getting in, and you\u2019re getting healthy; but guess what?\u00a0 That\u2019s not the end.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u201cNo, there\u2019s a mission for you.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u201cWe need you to get strong and get going.\u00a0 There\u2019s a mission waiting for you, here, through this local body, underneath the authority and leadership of your pastor\u2014that you need to support.\u00a0 We need you.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay, Kenny, there\u2019s a guy listening to us right now\u2014or maybe his wife is listening\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014and she\u2019s heard us kind of\u2014[Pounding noise]\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Pounding the table.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014pounding the table about this.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And they\u2019ve heard us talk about Super Saturday, and they haven\u2019t yet still done anything about it\u2014to go to their church, to go to their pastor, and say, \u201cWhy don\u2019t we do this for our men\u2014not only in our church?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI just got off the phone, just a few moments ago, with a church in Baton Rouge.\u00a0 What they are going to do is\u2014not around Super Saturday, by the way\u2014but at another event, what they are going to do\u2014they are going to invite churches all over Baton Rouge to join together in a men\u2019s event that will ultimately spawn movements of men in multiple churches in the community.\u00a0 They are not trying to brand it and make it just one church\u2019s outreach to its people.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSpeak to the person, though, who needs to grab the baton and get the ball rolling in their community.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Boy, it\u2019s never been easier to\u2014and more quality, in terms of the product\u2014to have a catalytic men\u2019s event.\u00a0 If you have your guys that you regular play golf with\u2014 if you have guys that you connect with at work, if there\u2019s a group of you that rides bikes\u2014whatever your affinity connection is\u2014it\u2019s never been easier, guys, to go up to FamilyLife.com, get the Super Saturday kit, and just say, \u201cHey, I\u2019m cooking steaks,\u201d\u2014appeal to the stomach\u2014\u201cI\u2019m cooking steaks.\u00a0 I\u2019ve got some filets,\u201d\u2014invest in the lives of your friends\u2014\u201cHey, I\u2019m cooking steaks.\u00a0 I\u2019m doing this Super Saturday-thing for guys, and I want you to join us.\u00a0 I\u2019m hosting.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br>In fact, I would coach them to say, \u201cI\u2019m hosting it.\u201d\u00a0 Don\u2019t say, \u201cI\u2019m leading it.\u201d\u00a0 It\u2019s like you\u2019re hosting a get-together; and that\u2019s the power of just, \u201cI\u2019m just hosting.\u00a0 I\u2019m going to serve some food.\u00a0 Come on over, and join me, and\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You don\u2019t have to be seminary-trained.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Not at all; not at all.\u00a0 You have to have a heart\u2014this is host; right?\u00a0 You have to have a heart for people.\u00a0 You open your home.\u00a0 You serve food, and you turn on the TV.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 It sounds like you have to have a grill, too; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, a grill doesn\u2019t hurt.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 But you have to have a heart for men that you want to see something different occurring in men\u2019s lives today.\u00a0 I mean, ultimately, I think, across the country\u2014and Bob, at this point, is looking at me, and he\u2019s going, \u201cOh, here he goes.\u00a0 I\u2019ve heard this before;\u201d but he knows that I feel strongly about this, Kenny.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI think there is a whole subculture of men\u2014and for that matter, women\u2014who are sick and tired of evil triumphing over our marriages, our families, our children, over our schools, over our\u2014every segment of society\u2014entertainment, education.\u00a0 You name it.\u00a0 And I\u2019ve said this so many times before, but it is back to the quote, \u201cAll that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do\u201d\u2014what?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014\u201cnothing.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, that\u2019s exactly what good men do\u2014nothing.\u00a0 So, we\u2019ve given them something, here, to do.\u00a0 We want to give you something\u2014a strategic way to push back against evil in your community and positively plant some seeds of good men, who are going to make a difference when they leave there.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 And, then, what I hear you saying is, \u201cGuys have got to have the long-game in view so you don\u2019t just execute an event like Super Saturday.\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You\u2019re looking at that as a catalytic point for something that is going to continue because, if you get guys fired up, you get them going, \u201cYes!\u00a0 Yes!\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014and then, there is nothing for them\u2014that\u2019s deflating.\u00a0 They\u2019re just going to check out and say, \u201cThat doesn\u2019t work;\u201d aren\u2019t they?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s right.\u00a0 That\u2019s, I think, what has been the learning, over the last 30 years in the men\u2019s movement\u2014is when you create energy and expression\u2014and a Navy SEAL with a cause, but there\u2019s nothing to go after\u2014it\u2019s very disillusioning.\u00a0 So, that\u2019s why I love the partnership between FamilyLife and <em>Sleeping Giant<\/em> and <em>Every Man Ministries<\/em>, where we\u2019re going to provide a continuous process to get back together, not just to meet, but to go through getting healthy, and getting strong, and getting going because what Dennis said is right\u2014that\u2019s what <em>Marvel Comics<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup> knows about every man\u2014is that we do want to stick it to the bully, we do want to defend the weak and vulnerable, we do want to have special power.\u00a0 I think, between Super Saturday and what we\u2019re offering together as ministries, this is going to be a powerful continuation because what we need is continuity and we need impact.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019ve shared this illustration before; but you know what?\u00a0 It\u2019s in my family, and I\u2019ve got the microphone, and it\u2019s my radio show.\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 So, you know what?\u00a0 I\u2019m going to do it again.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut my son-in-law lives in a small town of about 35,000 people.\u00a0 He\u2019s an OB doctor.\u00a0 You know, it would be very easy for him to be just an OB doctor and a daddy to five boys and a couple of foster care kids\u2014which he and my daughter are doing right now.\u00a0 But you know what?\u00a0 He stepped up and said, \u201cI want to be a part of some men that bring a men\u2019s event to our community.\u201d\u00a0 So, here\u2019s a town of 35,000 people, maybe on a good day.\u00a0 They brought speakers in and put together their own program that was a heaven-class event.\u00a0 They had 500 men come to that event last summer.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt was all because he said, \u201cYou know what?\u00a0 I want to join with some other guys, and we want to make a difference.\u201d\u00a0 You know what?\u00a0 He did.\u00a0 There are men listening to us, right now, who need to do the same thing; and there are some wives who are married to men.\u00a0 The wife needs to be very foxy, and smart, and know exactly what to say to her husband to get him to help champion this in your community.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, the cool thing is that for a guy to host a\u2014you called it, a heaven-class event, like your son-in-law hosted\u2014you don\u2019t have to go to all the work that he went to because the <em>Stepping Up<\/em> Super Saturday event\u2014that\u2019s coming up on February 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, the day before the big game\u2014is happening in communities, all across the country\u2014hundreds of communities already signed up to host this one-day video event for men.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe\u2019ve gone to all Bowl.\u00a0 You know, on Super Bowl Sunday, on the day of the game, you can pretty much count on the fact that most guys are going to want to kind of have that time blocked out and they\u2019re going to want to watch the game.\u00a0 They are not going to be available to do a whole lot of \u201cHoney, do\u201d stuff around the house that afternoon; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s correct.\u00a0 That\u2019s correct.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, I\u2019m thinking of a wife who is planning for that weekend.\u00a0 She\u2019s got the option of either her husband, on Saturday, doing all the projects around the house so that he can watch the game on Sunday; or she can send him to the <em>Stepping Up<\/em><em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/em> Super Saturday event, down at the church, that\u2019s happening in their community.\u00a0 We\u2019ve got hundreds of churches that are participating in this; but she\u2019s not going to get any \u201cHoney, do\u201d lists done that day.\u00a0 What would your counsel to her be, Dennis?\u00a0 to your pastor and say, \u201cLet\u2019s do this thing!\u00a0 Let\u2019s make this happen in our community.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m looking across the table, and there\u2019s a guy asking for the microphone and the soapbox.\u00a0 Kenny Luck joins us.\u00a0 He\u2019s the Men\u2019s Pastor at Saddleback Church.\u00a0 He\u2019s written a book called <em>Sleeping Giant<\/em>.\u00a0 He\u2019s all over the issue of men stepping up.\u00a0 You believe women are important if men are going to step up; don\u2019t you?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oh, my goodness, Dennis!\u00a0 When you guys were talking about\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You were having a hard time being quiet.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 I was just saying\u2014the hall pass\u2014\u201cLadies, here\u2019s the deal.\u00a0 When you do give permission for a desired activity\u2014but more importantly, when you encourage your man to take ownership of his life\u2014spiritually, relationally, maritally\u2014 in the context of other men, that\u2019s when you get a solid result versus hinting, hoping, nagging.\u00a0 It\u2019s just something where he feels that he needs to make that decision on his own\u2014in consideration of you\u2014but in the presence of other men, as an individual man.\u00a0 It\u2019s that ownership-thing, where it is: \u2018This is my decision, and I want to own it\u2014apart from being in your presence\u2014even though I love you\u2014and apart from being connected to you as a husband and father, who has many shortcomings\u2014I want to make this decision myself.\u2019\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, when you were talking about \u201cHey, let him go. Ladies, let him go!\u00a0 It will be so encouraging to him,\u201d \u2014that\u2019s the first point.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br>Second point was, I think, when we talk about waking the sleeping giant\u2014when we talk about getting guys in and healthy, and what that means for the women and children\u2014not just in our country, but worldwide\u2014I think that women are going to be the accelerator of that.\u00a0 My feedback\u2014thousands of emails from men\u2014tells me that, many times, when they make a strong step toward health and God\u2014that is met with cynicism, skepticism, or just ambivalence\u2014maybe because of the past\u2014maybe because of failed promises\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014in the past.\u00a0 I think, once men feel and hear from their bride\u2014their sisters-in-Christ\u2014encouragement\u2014and also, women-to-women\u2014where instead of\u2014as you\u2019re at tennis, or the coffee shop, or connecting with the toddlers\u2014 jumping on the band wagon of man-bashing, as the failed brand.\u00a0 Those of you who have a good, strong, godly man, you can step in and say, \u201cYou know what?\u00a0 I don\u2019t what you\u2019re talking about.\u00a0 My guy\u2014he prays with my kids.\u00a0 He loves and cherishes me.\u00a0 He honors me.\u201d\u00a0 You know what your friends will say?\u00a0 \u201cDoes he\u2014I have a sister.\u00a0 Does he have a brother?\u201d\u00a0 You know?\u00a0 That\u2019s what women are looking for.\u00a0 So, ladies, I just want to encourage you to, as we talk about this movement of men\u2014healthy men\u2014we need your voice because when we talk about it\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014it kind of falls flat.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You talk about the fact that the men\u2019s culture in America is a broken culture.\u00a0 Do you think it\u2019s always been that way?\u00a0 Do you think it\u2019s true in other cultures?\u00a0 I\u2019m just wondering\u2014I mean we live in a broken world.\u00a0 So, at some level, everything is broken.\u00a0 But has there ever been a time when you\u2019ve looked back and say, \u201cThey understood masculinity, back there, or over here, or\u2014\u201d?\u00a0 You know?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 I think it\u2019s just more visible now.\u00a0 I think broken male culture is just more visible in this age of technology, and smart phones, and cause, and internet, and the tsunami of information that\u2019s becoming available\u2014portable and presentable to the world.\u00a0 For 20 centuries, men have had broken, male subculture to deal with power, and pressure, and responsibilities.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s gotten increasingly less hush, hush and more out-in-the-open, where it\u2019s a news bite, almost on a daily-basis\u2014some celebrity man, some athlete, some politician who has either cheated on his wife\u2014I mean, in the past, you didn\u2019t have that kind of visibility and awareness.\u00a0 It was more hidden.\u00a0 Now, it\u2019s dark times for men because you don\u2019t see an equal display of that on the female side\u2014although, it\u2019s there.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI was just reading an article by Richard Conniff, in the <em>New York Times<\/em>, talking about how men are the failed brand\u2014that because of the tsunami of negative characterization in the media, in Hollywood, in commercials\u2014what you have is men retreating from the caricature and withdrawing from responsibility.\u00a0\u00a0 What\u2019s interesting, though, on the female-side, is that, with the advent of, what I would call\u2014female-independence, politically; female independence, financially; female independence, educationally; relationally, from men\u2014with distancing of the need for a woman to depend on a man\u2014they now have the power, and pressure, and responsibility that goes with that.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 And guess what?\u00a0 They are developing their own broken female-subculture as evidenced by <em>Fifty Shades of Grey<\/em>.\u00a0 They\u2019re looking for diversions and relief from that pressure of assuming life, without partnership with a man.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 What I hear you saying, Kenny, is if there has ever been a time for the Christian community to step up and not bash men\u2014not blame men, not shame men, not point their fingers at men and say, \u201cGrow up!\u00a0 Become God\u2019s man,\u201d \u2014it\u2019s today.\u00a0 It\u2019s time for the Christian community to pull out the Bible\u2014and again, not thump men with it\u2014but invite men to engage with God, with other men, and then, engage in a mission because man wasn\u2019t made to just be in idle\u2014just to be in neutral.\u00a0 He was meant to be headed toward a finish line.\u00a0 He was meant to conquer evil.\u00a0 That\u2019s why God has put us here.\u00a0 We have an assignment that only we can fulfill that God is calling us to today.\u00a0 You believe, as I do, that men are really important in that assignment.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 You put it front and center.\u00a0 I think a resonator is when you solve an ongoing problem\u2014when you have an ongoing problem that\u2019s unresolved.\u00a0 When you resolve it\u2014 that is what we call a resonator.\u00a0 It\u2019s a break-through.\u00a0 Books on purpose:\u00a0 for example, \u201cWho am I?\u00a0 Where am I going?\u201d \u2014that\u2019s a resonator.\u00a0 Every person asks that question.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe number two resonator in the world, at the moment, is pain and suffering.\u00a0 When you look at the dark backdrop of all that\u2019s going on\u2014particularly connected with men or connected to male character and conduct\u2014whether it\u2019s orphans, HIV, sex trafficking, fatherlessness, the demand\u2014you see this darkness that you described, Dennis.\u00a0 But I remember when I bought Chrissy\u2019s wedding ring.\u00a0 The jeweler put the diamond against the black velvet, and I could see every sparkle.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI feel like what we\u2019re doing with <em>Stepping Up<\/em> and <em>Sleeping Giant<\/em>\u2014and teaming up on this\u2014is, I believe, that God\u2019s men and men-at-large are going to be the dazzling diamonds against the black backdrop of some of these issues\u2014and men and women uniting and rising, above gender wars and blaming, as the body. As Philippians 2 says, \u201cIf there is any encouragement or affection in Christ, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, united in spirit.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 I think that\u2019s what God\u2019s Spirit is doing in this country among men and women\u2014is He\u2019s helping us to rise above and transcend what\u2019s happening in culture, as the body, and encourage each other and unite.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Tell me what you\u2019ve seen happen in a local church when men start to get healthy and get going\u2014and it is taking root.\u00a0 You\u2019ve seen churches where this is happening.\u00a0 What does that do to the church, as a whole?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, I think of the local pastor, first of all\u2014especially, most churches are under 300 people.\u00a0 I got a note just the other day from a local pastor.\u00a0 He has a congregation of 175 people.\u00a0 Nine men, because they had adopted the <em>Sleeping Giant<\/em> process and pathway, were baptized this last Sunday.\u00a0 It\u2019s almost like he was crying through the email.\u00a0 Here he has help on the way.\u00a0 \u201cThe Calvary is coming!\u201d\u00a0 He has a process to get them healthy.\u00a0 He has a strategy to move them into leadership.\u00a0 In most churches that are that small, the pastor needs men forming ranks around him, with his DNA\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, he does.\u00a0 Yes, he does.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014and so, when they don\u2019t have that, then, we end up hiring disciples versus making disciples and adding staff, which is, for many, prohibitive.\u00a0 So, when the local church\u2014local churches that I see, early adopters to the <em>Sleeping Giant<\/em> model, the pastors are writing me and going, \u201cI never knew this could be.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t know that I could be the main beneficiary of a solid outreach to men, where we not only develop the man but we develop the leader;\u201d and they form ranks around that\u2014that senior pastor.\u00a0 That\u2019s really where I feel there is going to be a large Kingdom advance of the Great Commission and the Great Commandment, locally, worldwide.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019m imagining the pastor who is thinking, \u201cYou know, I\u2019d love to see guys energized and mobilized as long as they\u2019re energized and mobilized for what I think they ought to be doing.\u00a0 I\u2019m concerned they\u2019re going to get energized and mobilized and go head in their own direction and have their own agenda.\u00a0 You know, what do I do then?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 <br>\u00a0\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, that\u2019s what I talk about in the book.\u00a0 I talk about rogue men\u2019s ministries, where\u2014if you don\u2019t have a larger vision than just to meet an issue or a need in a man\u2019s life, and if you don\u2019t link the meeting of needs in the church with men to a larger vision of involvement, then, what happens is it becomes self-serving\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014and we\u2019re just sponsoring rooms, coffee, and donuts.\u00a0 They can go do that outside the church.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 But if there is a higher vision of, \u201cHey, you\u2019re getting in, and you\u2019re getting healthy; but guess what?\u00a0 That\u2019s not the end.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u201cNo, there\u2019s a mission for you.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u201cWe need you to get strong and get going.\u00a0 There\u2019s a mission waiting for you, here, through this local body, underneath the authority and leadership of your pastor\u2014that you need to support.\u00a0 We need you.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay, Kenny, there\u2019s a guy listening to us right now\u2014or maybe his wife is listening\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014and she\u2019s heard us kind of\u2014[Pounding noise]\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Pounding the table.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014pounding the table about this.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And they\u2019ve heard us talk about Super Saturday, and they haven\u2019t yet still done anything about it\u2014to go to their church, to go to their pastor, and say, \u201cWhy don\u2019t we do this for our men\u2014not only in our church?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI just got off the phone, just a few moments ago, with a church in Baton Rouge.\u00a0 What they are going to do is\u2014not around Super Saturday, by the way\u2014but at another event, what they are going to do\u2014they are going to invite churches all over Baton Rouge to join together in a men\u2019s event that will ultimately spawn movements of men in multiple churches in the community.\u00a0 They are not trying to brand it and make it just one church\u2019s outreach to its people.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSpeak to the person, though, who needs to grab the baton and get the ball rolling in their community.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Boy, it\u2019s never been easier to\u2014and more quality, in terms of the product\u2014to have a catalytic men\u2019s event.\u00a0 If you have your guys that you regular play golf with\u2014 if you have guys that you connect with at work, if there\u2019s a group of you that rides bikes\u2014whatever your affinity connection is\u2014it\u2019s never been easier, guys, to go up to FamilyLife.com, get the Super Saturday kit, and just say, \u201cHey, I\u2019m cooking steaks,\u201d\u2014appeal to the stomach\u2014\u201cI\u2019m cooking steaks.\u00a0 I\u2019ve got some filets,\u201d\u2014invest in the lives of your friends\u2014\u201cHey, I\u2019m cooking steaks.\u00a0 I\u2019m doing this Super Saturday-thing for guys, and I want you to join us.\u00a0 I\u2019m hosting.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br>In fact, I would coach them to say, \u201cI\u2019m hosting it.\u201d\u00a0 Don\u2019t say, \u201cI\u2019m leading it.\u201d\u00a0 It\u2019s like you\u2019re hosting a get-together; and that\u2019s the power of just, \u201cI\u2019m just hosting.\u00a0 I\u2019m going to serve some food.\u00a0 Come on over, and join me, and\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You don\u2019t have to be seminary-trained.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Not at all; not at all.\u00a0 You have to have a heart\u2014this is host; right?\u00a0 You have to have a heart for people.\u00a0 You open your home.\u00a0 You serve food, and you turn on the TV.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 It sounds like you have to have a grill, too; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, a grill doesn\u2019t hurt.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 But you have to have a heart for men that you want to see something different occurring in men\u2019s lives today.\u00a0 I mean, ultimately, I think, across the country\u2014and Bob, at this point, is looking at me, and he\u2019s going, \u201cOh, here he goes.\u00a0 I\u2019ve heard this before;\u201d but he knows that I feel strongly about this, Kenny.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI think there is a whole subculture of men\u2014and for that matter, women\u2014who are sick and tired of evil triumphing over our marriages, our families, our children, over our schools, over our\u2014every segment of society\u2014entertainment, education.\u00a0 You name it.\u00a0 And I\u2019ve said this so many times before, but it is back to the quote, \u201cAll that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do\u201d\u2014what?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014\u201cnothing.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, that\u2019s exactly what good men do\u2014nothing.\u00a0 So, we\u2019ve given them something, here, to do.\u00a0 We want to give you something\u2014a strategic way to push back against evil in your community and positively plant some seeds of good men, who are going to make a difference when they leave there.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 And, then, what I hear you saying is, \u201cGuys have got to have the long-game in view so you don\u2019t just execute an event like Super Saturday.\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You\u2019re looking at that as a catalytic point for something that is going to continue because, if you get guys fired up, you get them going, \u201cYes!\u00a0 Yes!\u201d\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014and then, there is nothing for them\u2014that\u2019s deflating.\u00a0 They\u2019re just going to check out and say, \u201cThat doesn\u2019t work;\u201d aren\u2019t they?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Kenny:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s right.\u00a0 That\u2019s, I think, what has been the learning, over the last 30 years in the men\u2019s movement\u2014is when you create energy and expression\u2014and a Navy SEAL with a cause, but there\u2019s nothing to go after\u2014it\u2019s very disillusioning.\u00a0 So, that\u2019s why I love the partnership between FamilyLife and <em>Sleeping Giant<\/em> and <em>Every Man Ministries<\/em>, where we\u2019re going to provide a continuous process to get back together, not just to meet, but to go through getting healthy, and getting strong, and getting going because what Dennis said is right\u2014that\u2019s what <em>Marvel Comics<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup> knows about every man\u2014is that we do want to stick it to the bully, we do want to defend the weak and vulnerable, we do want to have special power.\u00a0 I think, between Super Saturday and what we\u2019re offering together as ministries, this is going to be a powerful continuation because what we need is continuity and we need impact.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019ve shared this illustration before; but you know what?\u00a0 It\u2019s in my family, and I\u2019ve got the microphone, and it\u2019s my radio show.\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 So, you know what?\u00a0 I\u2019m going to do it again.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut my son-in-law lives in a small town of about 35,000 people.\u00a0 He\u2019s an OB doctor.\u00a0 You know, it would be very easy for him to be just an OB doctor and a daddy to five boys and a couple of foster care kids\u2014which he and my daughter are doing right now.\u00a0 But you know what?\u00a0 He stepped up and said, \u201cI want to be a part of some men that bring a men\u2019s event to our community.\u201d\u00a0 So, here\u2019s a town of 35,000 people, maybe on a good day.\u00a0 They brought speakers in and put together their own program that was a heaven-class event.\u00a0 They had 500 men come to that event last summer.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt was all because he said, \u201cYou know what?\u00a0 I want to join with some other guys, and we want to make a difference.\u201d\u00a0 You know what?\u00a0 He did.\u00a0 There are men listening to us, right now, who need to do the same thing;
