Lisa Williams was working in Christian radio.\u00a0 She and her husband were volunteers at their local church.\u00a0 What their friends didn\u2019t know is that their marriage was in trouble.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Bottom line was he brought a lot of pride into our marriage, and I brought a lot of dishonesty.\u00a0 I won\u2019t tell you how I really feel about anything.\u00a0 I\u2019ll act like everything is fine, all the time.\u00a0 On the inside, I\u2019m going, \u201cI hate you.\u00a0 I wish I wasn\u2019t here\u201d\u2014just dishonest, but it\u2019s all I knew.\u00a0 It\u2019s just how I functioned.\u00a0 I was inauthentic.\u00a0 God saw all of that; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHe brought us to a point, and we got to California.\u00a0 Here, I\u2019m now, finally, pregnant\u2014what we\u2019d prayed for\u2014for all these years\u2014and we\u2019re just a mess.\u00a0 We\u2019re very, very far apart from each other.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em> for Wednesday, August 15<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Our host is the President of on?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, it was the afternoon show and, then, the morning show.\u00a0 She\u2019s been everywhere!\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Lisa Williams joins us on <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>.\u00a0 Lisa, welcome to our broadcast.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Thank you.\u00a0 It is an honor to be in these studios and spend some time with you and your listeners.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, she was on K-LOVE for four years.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 She and her husband Darren have been married for 25 years.\u00a0 They have two sons, and I\u2019m looking forward to hearing this story because you went to school here in Arkansas a number of years ago.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 <em>Number <\/em>of years ago.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 A number of years ago.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 As we like to say, \u201cBack in the day;\u201d right? \u2014 \u201cBack in the day.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.\u00a0 You went there for only one year.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I did!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Why did you only go there one year?\u00a0 You didn\u2019t like Arkansas?\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I lived in Arkansas for one year of my life\u2014one of the most pivotal years of my life because I got married at the end of my freshman year.\u00a0 I met my husband, Darren.\u00a0 We were in a Christian drama group called the Ouachita Players, fell in love, and he left in January to join the Army.\u00a0 He was a ROTC grad.\u00a0 He came back in May, married me, there on the campus of Ouachita.\u00a0 Then, I went to Germany with him in 1987.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThen, while I was there, I sang background vocals on a friend\u2019s record.\u00a0 When I heard my voice, my heart sank because I\u2019m a bit of a perfectionist.\u00a0 I thought, \u201cI\u2019m not good enough.\u201d\u00a0 Then, I sought the Lord for three weeks saying, \u201cOkay, if I\u2019m not going to make records for You, You\u2019ve got to tell me why I\u2019m here...\u201d\u00a0 I think I said to Him, \u201c...or I will die.\u00a0 I have to know why I\u2019m here.\u00a0 I do not want to waste my time on this earth.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI prayed fervently like that for three weeks.\u00a0 In a moment, in prayer\u2014this is just how it happened\u2014a moment, in prayer, I felt as if I heard the Lord say, \u201cChristian radio,\u201d very clearly to me.\u00a0 I stopped praying and I said, \u201cI could do that!\u00a0 I could do that!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You\u2019re not one of those people that grew up\u2014I mean, I grew up with my transistor under my pillow thinking, \u201cIt would be so cool to be on the radio some day.\u201d\u00a0 That was always kind of a lifelong dream, went to college to study Radio and TV; but this was kind of new to you.\u00a0 You never really thought about being an on-air person on the radio?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 No.\u00a0 Before I came to Christ, as a young teenage girl, I thought maybe I wanted to be a doctor.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t know what I wanted to do.\u00a0 Then, once I was in Christ, I wanted to make music.\u00a0 Then, I wanted to be a missionary.\u00a0 I wanted to be a Journeyman with the Baptist Church.\u00a0 I wanted to go to college and then, spend my life in the mission field.\u00a0 That\u2019s where my head was.\u00a0 I wanted to be in the ministry.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br>Then, when I feel as if the Lord said, \u201cChristian radio,\u201d to me\u2014it\u2019s not like I hear God speaking to me all the time or even at that point in my life\u2014but that\u2019s what I heard.\u00a0 Then, I followed that.\u00a0 We got stationed in the States, after being in Germany for three years.\u00a0 We were stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.\u00a0 That was July of 1990.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI found a map.\u00a0 Well, no.\u00a0 I tuned the dial back and forth\u2014you know, all the static\u2014and I heard a Bill Gaither song.\u00a0 I stopped and went, \u201cThat\u2019s Christian.\u201d\u00a0 Then, the next song was a Petra song.\u00a0 I was like, \u201cOkay, we have found a Christian station!\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019m just going to\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Now, wait.\u00a0 Wait.\u00a0 Bill Gaither and Petra back to back?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, I didn\u2019t say it was a great Christian station\u2014[Laughter]\u2014but it was Christian!\u00a0 I waited until they said the name of the town and they said, \u201cCamdenton\u201d.\u00a0 I found it on a map.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s a ways away from Fort Leonard Wood.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 From Fort Leonard Wood.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 It was an hour and 15 minutes from our house.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I drove up there on a Monday.\u00a0 They asked me to come back on Tuesday.\u00a0 They called me on Wednesday\u2014said, \u201cWe\u2019d like for you to start tomorrow.\u201d\u00a0 I hosted the afternoon show on the wonderful KCBO in Camdenton, Missouri, for five years.\u00a0 I was a program director when I left.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 This was all new to you.\u00a0 You\u2019d never been on the radio as a host before.\u00a0 You come in Monday; and Thursday, you\u2019re on the air.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 It was nerve-wracking because I remember these feelings of, \u201cI can\u2019t white- out anything.\u00a0 Everything I say is just out there!\u201d\u00a0 I was a little bit of a perfectionist, and I wanted to do a good job for God.\u00a0 I remember feeling panicky and really addressing God directly saying, \u201cI cannot do this, Sir, unless You empower me to do it,\u201d and felt like He gave me Matthew, Chapter 5, that says, \u201cLet your light shine.\u201d\u00a0 Then, I went over to a verse in Philippians that says, \u201cYou\u2019ll be like a bright light in a dark and perverse generation.\u201d\u00a0 I went, \u201cOkay, I\u2019ll take that as direction.\u00a0 I\u2019m just going to go shine.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI started studying radio, at that point.\u00a0 I listened to great stations that I could pick up out of St. Louis and Kansas City.\u00a0 I asked to go to every seminar.\u00a0 I started reading, and I just tried to train myself in radio.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 To a young lady or a young man who is listening to us today and maybe the young man has a voice like Bob\u2019s, already, at six years of age, and he doesn\u2019t have a transistor radio because he doesn\u2019t know what that is\u2014[Laughter]\u2014but what would you say to them about following God\u2019s lead for his or her life?\u00a0 This is really an important thing we\u2019re talking about here.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I would say, \u201cIf you seek the Lord with your whole heart, you will find Him, and you don\u2019t know what that will mean.\u201d\u00a0 I feel as if I had a dream for my life.\u00a0 I was going to be a Christian artist.\u00a0 That was my dream, and it was a noble dream.\u00a0 It was a reasonable dream; but there came a point where I was broken and I said, \u201cI am so sorry that I told You what I was going to be.\u00a0 I have never asked You, \u2018Why am I here?\u2019\u201d\u00a0 Then, I sought Him with all of my heart, \u201cWhy am I here?\u00a0 Why am I here?\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, not everyone is going to hear a voice or maybe get a definitive answer like I did.\u00a0 That was the timing God needed for me; but if you seek Him, you will find Him.\u00a0 He does have a plan for each of our lives.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You were driving, back and forth, two-and-a-half hours a day, to do the afternoon shift over in Camdenton, Missouri?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s a long haul.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I did that for five years.\u00a0 We moved a little closer after three years, but it was a long haul through the Ozarks\u2014a very windy road.\u00a0 I would work usually ten, if not more, hours because we didn\u2019t have kids.\u00a0 I was very hungry to learn more about radio.\u00a0 So, I was all in.\u00a0 <strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>Did your husband get transferred somewhere else?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 After five years, he got out.\u00a0 We had marriage trouble, to be honest.\u00a0 He had two assignments, where I didn\u2019t go.\u00a0 He went to Chicago for a season.\u00a0 He went to Panama for a season.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And you didn\u2019t go with him?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I didn\u2019t go with him.\u00a0 We rationalized it because we were the assistant\u2014the unpaid children\u2019s pastors at our church, we owned a home, and I was on the radio.\u00a0 We almost lost our marriage during that season.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, your advice to someone who is thinking about maybe keeping their career, at the expense of not moving with their spouse\u2014\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019m against it.\u00a0 I don\u2019t want to push my convictions on others, but my personal opinion\u2014since that\u2019s what you\u2019ve asked for\u2014is that you need to stay together.\u00a0 You need each other.\u00a0 You need each other\u2014spirit, soul, and body.\u00a0 Couples should stay together.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSometimes, you can\u2019t help it.\u00a0 The Army often moves people away from you for long periods of time, and there are short stints.\u00a0 You can seek the Lord, maybe for a short stint, but it\u2019s better to be together.\u00a0 I\u2019m an advocate of staying.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Was it just isolation that you two went through\u2014just not sharing the same life but just two independent people, living in two different places, doing their own things?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I think that was part of it.\u00a0 I think that there were things from our past\u2014from our parents\u2019 pasts, things\u2014dysfunctions we brought into our marriage as young people that we\u2019d never dealt with\u2014never really honest\u2014some pride.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 But you held it together?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, to the glory of God.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Why did you hold it together?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 I mean when it got tough,\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.<strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014why didn\u2019t you just say, \u201cOkay, we\u2019ll start again.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 We\u2019ve had two instances in our marriage where we\u2019ve almost split.\u00a0 This particular instance, I think, we stayed because we loved God and His Word.\u00a0 We were both committed to Christ.\u00a0 When it got down to it, we stood by the Word.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 But you didn\u2019t like each other?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I did not like my husband for a long time, and he knew that; but we stayed together.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 During that same period of time, you two were struggling with infertility.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Did that have an impact on your marriage relationship, as well?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, I think that was a big part of all the problems that we had over the years because there was so much pain with our infertility.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think we dealt with it properly.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think that I cried and accepted that I was infertile.\u00a0 I kept saying, \u201cGod\u2019s going to make this happen.\u00a0 It\u2019s going to happen.\u00a0 It\u2019s going to happen.\u00a0 It\u2019s going to happen.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI don\u2019t think we ever talked about the intense pain that we felt.\u00a0 We were like this perfect Christian couple on the outside.\u00a0 We pushed down our pain on the inside.\u00a0 So, I think our infertility had a lot to do with the marriage problems we had over the years.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You eventually left the middle of the state of Missouri\u2014wound up in\u2014where was it? \u2014North Carolina, next?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Let\u2019s see, we went to Iowa, where I helped launch KCWN in Pella, Iowa.\u00a0 I was actually there for a job for my husband; but wherever he went, I would just find a Christian station and get involved.\u00a0 Then, we ended up in North Carolina.\u00a0 Then, his job transferred us to Florida, where, for ten years, I worked for Z88.3 in Orlando.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s a big music station in Orlando.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 They\u2019re number one in Orlando.\u00a0 They\u2019re amazing\u2014amazing group of people.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You went on to be the host or the co-host of a number of stations from New Jersey to Sacramento, all across the country\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, sir.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014until you landed a job in 2008.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 I\u2014you\u2019re talking about K-LOVE?\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, how many people a day were listening to you in the afternoons or in the mornings on K-LOVE?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure at that time, but I think it was four million a week\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s a pretty good-sized audience; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s amazing.\u00a0 It\u2019s amazing.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Did you just walk in and say, \u201cHey, I can do this,\u201d or how did you get the job at K-LOVE?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, I mentioned that we went through some trouble in our marriage\u2014twice.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 In 2006, my husband got a job promotion that would move us to California.\u00a0 That\u2019s what he wanted.\u00a0 Well, it\u2019s not what I wanted.\u00a0 We had been infertile for many years; and when I was 36, we\u2014it was almost like, \u201cI want to be a mom, and it\u2019s not going away.\u201d\u00a0 God knows I\u2019m strong and willful, \u201cI can be on a plane to China tomorrow\u201d\u2014I mean, like, \u201cGod just tell me what I\u2019m supposed to do.\u201d\u00a0 We had tried to adopt once, and it had fallen through\u2014another time of deep pain in our lives.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, we decided, as a couple, that we would see a doctor.\u00a0 We began working with an infertility specialist in Orlando, and I had gotten pregnant.\u00a0 It was a painful journey to get to that point; but during this season of our lives, after the adoption fell through, to that point, we really grew apart.\u00a0 Our marriage was very\u2014just being honest\u2014our marriage was a mess, but we acted like it was fine.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 For a second time, then\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 For a second time.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014you\u2019re off in the ditch.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 My husband says it\u2019s because we didn\u2019t heal properly the first time.\u00a0 He wasn\u2019t willing\u2014he was proud.\u00a0 These are his words.\u00a0 He was trying to heal our marriage\u2014he tells me in hindsight.\u00a0 So, he took us to California.\u00a0 When we got there, is when Jesus showed up in our house.\u00a0 It was a time of deep healing.\u00a0 It was an honest time. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBottom line was he brought a lot of pride into our marriage, and I brought a lot of dishonesty.\u00a0 I won\u2019t tell you how I really feel about anything.\u00a0 I\u2019ll act like everything is fine, all the time; and on the inside, I\u2019m going, \u201cI hate you.\u00a0 I wish I wasn\u2019t here\u201d\u2014just dishonest, but it\u2019s all I knew.\u00a0 It\u2019s just how I functioned.\u00a0 I was inauthentic.\u00a0 I seemed so authentic, but I was really inauthentic.\u00a0 God saw all of that; right?\u00a0 He brought us to a point, and we got to California.\u00a0 Here I am now, finally, pregnant\u2014what we\u2019d prayed for, for all these years, and we\u2019re just a mess.\u00a0 We\u2019re very, very far apart from each other.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br>It was Easter of 2007.\u00a0 I feel like the Lord, on Good Friday, just showed up in our house.\u00a0 We were very honest with each other for the first time about a lot of things that we had hidden.\u00a0 I thought our marriage was, for sure, over; and I saw my husband cry.\u00a0 He cried for three days.\u00a0 He just broke.\u00a0 Then, I broke also.\u00a0 I was hard, too; and I broke.\u00a0 We had some Christian friends who flew in.\u00a0 They just rallied around us, and held us, and walked with us, and pointed us to the Word.\u00a0 We got into a really good counselor.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAt that time, the church that we had started attending sought my husband out to be their children\u2019s pastor, which is the calling on his life.\u00a0 He is an amazing, amazing children\u2019s pastor.\u00a0 He thought, \u201cNot me.\u00a0 God could never use me.\u201d\u00a0 He was humble and broken for the first time.\u00a0 At that time, I just reached out to K-LOVE because we had moved, because of my husband\u2019s job, to the backyard of K-LOVE!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Now, were you pregnant at the time?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I had just had a baby, my little John David.\u00a0 He was a brand-new baby.\u00a0 He was born in February.\u00a0 God rearranged our lives at Easter and then, I started working at K-LOVE in September.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay, time out here.\u00a0 So, you were infertile for like 20 years?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You get pregnant after all the anguish of wanting to be a mom.\u00a0 You\u2019re a mom, and you throw yourself back into your career?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 What were you feeling at that point?\u00a0 Were you feeling conflicted, or was this just a matter of habit?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is what I knew!\u00a0 This is who I was, in a way.\u00a0 I was a radio girl.\u00a0 So, I have this baby; but in my mind, that\u2019s what God called me to.\u00a0 I\u2019m supposed to be on the radio.\u00a0 So, I sought a radio job; and I got pregnant, like my first week.\u00a0 I remember telling my boss, David Pierce, \u201cI\u2019m going to have a baby.\u201d\u00a0 He goes, \u201cWell, you weren\u2019t pregnant when I hired you.\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019m like, \u201cNo, sir, I wasn\u2019t; but I\u2019m taking maternity leave in nine months.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat was\u2014God healed my marriage.\u00a0 God called my husband into the ministry.\u00a0 God let me continue in the ministry.\u00a0 He had given us a child; and then, I just got pregnant.\u00a0 It was like the icing on the Jesus cake.\u00a0 It was like the icing on the icing on the icing.\u00a0 This is what God called me to do\u2014He made me to do.\u00a0 I\u2019m working on K-LOVE.\u00a0 I have children.\u00a0 My marriage is healed.\u00a0 \u201cWow!\u00a0 This is the dream.\u00a0 Could it be any better?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat continued.\u00a0 I had the next baby.\u00a0 I took maternity leave.\u00a0 I got pregnant again and miscarried.\u00a0 That was another little painful time.\u00a0 Then, they asked me to move to the morning show.\u00a0 It was almost like it was spinning.\u00a0 There\u2019d been so much moving and so much healing; now we have a baby; now, we have another baby; and now, you\u2019re on the morning show.\u00a0 It was just\u2014it was a lot over a short period of time.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAfter\u2014kind of like, now, we get to the nitty-gritty of who I am today and what\u2019s going on.\u00a0 This past year, I began to have panic attacks.\u00a0 I began stuttering a little bit in the afternoons.\u00a0 I just said, \u201cMy current lifestyle is no longer sustainable.\u00a0 Something is going to have to give.\u201d\u00a0 I sought the Lord with all my heart again and felt like, \u201cIf something\u2019s going to give, it\u2019s obviously not my family.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI made the decision, \u201cI\u2019m going to need to step down from K-LOVE.\u201d\u00a0 I told my husband.\u00a0 He was, at that time, working at a church in Indianapolis and not making a lot of money; and I was making a lot of money.\u00a0 There was a lot of pressure there to continue to work\u2014in myself.\u00a0 I had a lot of people on my team that depended on me.\u00a0 I felt like I would be letting God down and letting everyone down if I stopped working.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, you said, \u201cI\u2019ve got to come home.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I said, \u201cMy current lifestyle is no longer sustainable.\u201d\u00a0 We began to seek the Lord about what He wanted us to do.\u00a0 I stepped down from the K-LOVE\u2014the K-LOVE Morning Show, where you think, \u201cOh, I\u2019ll do this for 20 years.\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019m talking to people about Jesus!\u2014millions of people\u2014\u201cThank You, God, for this chair and this microphone.\u201d\u00a0 Then, I stepped away so that I can focus on my children.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tGuys, I\u2019ve never experienced peace and happiness like I have now.\u00a0 It\u2019s like\u2014I tell my husband all the time, \u201cIt\u2019s like I live in the Promised Land.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Now, wait.\u00a0 You don\u2019t have a paycheck like you used to have.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 We make one-third\u2014a little less than a third of what we used to make.\u00a0 We work a tight budget.\u00a0 It\u2019s a joy to be a mom.\u00a0 I\u2019m still a radio person.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 We can tell.\u00a0 <br>\u00a0\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019m still a radio person.\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 This past week, I was on KXOJ, in Tulsa, helping raise money\u2014I\u2019m doing one-day projects, once a month, for humanitarian efforts.\u00a0 For World Concern<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, I was raising money this past week.\u00a0 I go here and there and do radio very, very, very part-time.\u00a0 I\u2019m blogging for <em>MomLife Today<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup>.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019m starting to blog so I can express myself through writing and reach out to other moms\u2014maybe moms in a similar situation, maybe feeling the pressure of life and thinking, \u201cThere\u2019s no answer because we\u2019ve got to make this money;\u201d but there\u2019s always an answer.\u00a0 There\u2019s always a way if you\u2019re feeling led by God to do something.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 A third less than you used to make?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 But you\u2019re making it?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And you\u2019re a family?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And you\u2019re not stuttering?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 No, and I haven\u2019t had a panic attack until I walked in here with you guys.\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 I have one every day, with Bob.\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Don\u2019t you find yourselves on days going, \u201cI wish we could do this or afford this,\u201d or, \u201cI wish we could take that vacation\u201d?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, it\u2019s difficult because it\u2019s hard for me to stop being like, \u201cHey, let\u2019s eat out.\u00a0 Hey, let\u2019s go here.\u201d\u00a0 We dipped into savings a little bit, and we\u2019re working it like a game.\u00a0 God is so faithful!\u00a0 You can trust Him.\u00a0 He\u2019s going to provide for you.\u00a0 He provides.\u00a0 We\u2019re not hungry.\u00a0 You know?\u00a0 Our needs are met, and we\u2019re happy we\u2019re together.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, Lisa, you\u2019ve gone from a ministry to millions to a ministry that no other person, no other woman on the planet, has been given as an assignment\u2014a ministry of being a mom to two boys\u2014a five-year-old and a three-year-old\u2014irreplaceable.\u00a0 No one else can do that.\u00a0 I hate to say it, but they probably replaced you\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 They did!\u00a0 They found someone else who could host the\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014at K-LOVE.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014K-LOVE Morning Show!\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Unbelievable\u2014not very good.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 No, they actually shut it down.\u00a0 They shut down the whole operation.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You just hear flat waves on the radio.\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, as you process things, that\u2019s where it came down to where I processed it to the point where I said, \u201cSomeone else can do the K-LOVE Morning Show.\u00a0 Nobody else can be the mom of JD and Jesse.\u00a0 That\u2019s my job!\u201d\u00a0 Then, figuring out these things and, then, saying, \u201cOkay, now how am I going to do it?\u201d \u2014not being scared, and just stepping out, and trusting God.\u00a0 He\u2019s always faithful.\u00a0 He\u2019s always faithful.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe part that I didn\u2019t expect is how wonderful\u2014once you go through a marriage and you stick out really tough times, and you come through these storms, or you deal through pain, and you get to the other side\u2014just be encouraged there is another side!\u00a0 I mean, we have a wonderful marriage.\u00a0 There\u2019s peace.\u00a0 There\u2019s respect.\u00a0 There\u2019s love and joy in our home.\u00a0 We have children.\u00a0 It\u2019s really rich.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 One last question, \u201cDo you ever struggle with comparison?\u201d\u00a0 Seems to me, with families like yours\u2014where you are\u2014as you start rubbing shoulders with other families who are raising a three-year-old and a five-year-old, and they\u2019re going and doing\u2014there\u2019s all this comparison to have these kids plugged into all these different places.\u00a0 You may not quite be there, yet; but any temptation to compare and go, \u201cI wonder if we did the right thing.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 In making this decision?\u00a0 working in Christian radio.\u00a0 She and her husband were volunteers at their local church.\u00a0 What their friends didn\u2019t know is that their marriage was in trouble.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Bottom line was he brought a lot of pride into our marriage, and I brought a lot of dishonesty.\u00a0 I won\u2019t tell you how I really feel about anything.\u00a0 I\u2019ll act like everything is fine, all the time.\u00a0 On the inside, I\u2019m going, \u201cI hate you.\u00a0 I wish I wasn\u2019t here\u201d\u2014just dishonest, but it\u2019s all I knew.\u00a0 It\u2019s just how I functioned.\u00a0 I was inauthentic.\u00a0 God saw all of that; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHe brought us to a point, and we got to California.\u00a0 Here, I\u2019m now, finally, pregnant\u2014what we\u2019d prayed for\u2014for all these years\u2014and we\u2019re just a mess.\u00a0 We\u2019re very, very far apart from each \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Lisa Williams joins us on <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>.\u00a0 Lisa, welcome to our broadcast.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Thank you.\u00a0 It is an honor to be in these studios and spend some time with you and your listeners.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, she was on K-LOVE for four years.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 She and her husband Darren have been married for 25 years.\u00a0 They have two sons, and I\u2019m looking forward to hearing this story because you went to school here in Arkansas a number of years ago.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 <em>Number <\/em>of years ago.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 A number of years ago.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 As we like to say, \u201cBack in the day;\u201d right? \u2014 \u201cBack in the day.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.\u00a0 You went there for only one year.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I did!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Why did you only go there one year?\u00a0 You didn\u2019t like Arkansas?\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I lived in Arkansas for one year of my life\u2014one of the most pivotal years of my life because I got married at the end of my freshman year.\u00a0 I met my husband, Darren.\u00a0 We were in a Christian drama group called the Ouachita Players, fell in love, and he left in January to join the Army.\u00a0 He was a ROTC grad.\u00a0 He came back in May, married me, there on the campus of Ouachita.\u00a0 Then, I went to Germany with him in 1987.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThen, while I was there, I sang background vocals on a friend\u2019s record.\u00a0 When I heard my voice, my heart sank because I\u2019m a bit of a perfectionist.\u00a0 I thought, \u201cI\u2019m not good enough.\u201d\u00a0 Then, I sought the Lord for three weeks saying, \u201cOkay, if I\u2019m not going to make records for You, You\u2019ve got to tell me why I\u2019m here...\u201d\u00a0 I think I said to Him, \u201c...or I will die.\u00a0 I have to know why I\u2019m here.\u00a0 I do not want to waste my time on this earth.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI prayed fervently like that for three weeks.\u00a0 In a moment, in prayer\u2014this is just how it happened\u2014a moment, in prayer, I felt as if I heard the Lord say, \u201cChristian radio,\u201d very clearly to me.\u00a0 I stopped praying and I said, \u201cI could do that!\u00a0 I could do that!\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You\u2019re not one of those people that grew up\u2014I mean, I grew up with my transistor under my pillow thinking, \u201cIt would be so cool to be on the radio some day.\u201d\u00a0 That was always kind of a lifelong dream, went to college to study Radio and TV; but this was kind of new to you.\u00a0 You never really thought about being an on-air person on the radio?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 No.\u00a0 Before I came to Christ, as a young teenage girl, I thought maybe I wanted to be a doctor.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t know what I wanted to do.\u00a0 Then, once I was in Christ, I wanted to make music.\u00a0 Then, I wanted to be a missionary.\u00a0 I wanted to be a Journeyman with the Baptist Church.\u00a0 I wanted to go to college and then, spend my life in the mission field.\u00a0 That\u2019s where my head was.\u00a0 I wanted to be in the ministry.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br>Then, when I feel as if the Lord said, \u201cChristian radio,\u201d to me\u2014it\u2019s not like I hear God speaking to me all the time or even at that point in my life\u2014but that\u2019s what I heard.\u00a0 Then, I followed that.\u00a0 We got stationed in the States, after being in Germany for three years.\u00a0 We were stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.\u00a0 That was July of 1990.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI found a map.\u00a0 Well, no.\u00a0 I tuned the dial back and forth\u2014you know, all the static\u2014and I heard a Bill Gaither song.\u00a0 I stopped and went, \u201cThat\u2019s Christian.\u201d\u00a0 Then, the next song was a Petra song.\u00a0 I was like, \u201cOkay, we have found a Christian station!\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019m just going to\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Now, wait.\u00a0 Wait.\u00a0 Bill Gaither and Petra back to back?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, I didn\u2019t say it was a great Christian station\u2014[Laughter]\u2014but it was Christian!\u00a0 I waited until they said the name of the town and they said, \u201cCamdenton\u201d.\u00a0 I found it on a map.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s a ways away from Fort Leonard Wood.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 From Fort Leonard Wood.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 It was an hour and 15 minutes from our house.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I drove up there on a Monday.\u00a0 They asked me to come back on Tuesday.\u00a0 They called me on Wednesday\u2014said, \u201cWe\u2019d like for you to start tomorrow.\u201d\u00a0 I hosted the afternoon show on the wonderful KCBO in Camdenton, Missouri, for five years.\u00a0 I was a program director when I left.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 This was all new to you.\u00a0 You\u2019d never been on the radio as a host before.\u00a0 You come in Monday; and Thursday, you\u2019re on the air.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 It was nerve-wracking because I remember these feelings of, \u201cI can\u2019t white- out anything.\u00a0 Everything I say is just out there!\u201d\u00a0 I was a little bit of a perfectionist, and I wanted to do a good job for God.\u00a0 I remember feeling panicky and really addressing God directly saying, \u201cI cannot do this, Sir, unless You empower me to do it,\u201d and felt like He gave me Matthew, Chapter 5, that says, \u201cLet your light shine.\u201d\u00a0 Then, I went over to a verse in Philippians that says, \u201cYou\u2019ll be like a bright light in a dark and perverse generation.\u201d\u00a0 I went, \u201cOkay, I\u2019ll take that as direction.\u00a0 I\u2019m just going to go shine.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI started studying radio, at that point.\u00a0 I listened to great stations that I could pick up out of St. Louis and Kansas City.\u00a0 I asked to go to every seminar.\u00a0 I started reading, and I just tried to train myself in radio.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 To a young lady or a young man who is listening to us today and maybe the young man has a voice like Bob\u2019s, already, at six years of age, and he doesn\u2019t have a transistor radio because he doesn\u2019t know what that is\u2014[Laughter]\u2014but what would you say to them about following God\u2019s lead for his or her life?\u00a0 This is really an important thing we\u2019re talking about here.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I would say, \u201cIf you seek the Lord with your whole heart, you will find Him, and you don\u2019t know what that will mean.\u201d\u00a0 I feel as if I had a dream for my life.\u00a0 I was going to be a Christian artist.\u00a0 That was my dream, and it was a noble dream.\u00a0 It was a reasonable dream; but there came a point where I was broken and I said, \u201cI am so sorry that I told You what I was going to be.\u00a0 I have never asked You, \u2018Why am I here?\u2019\u201d\u00a0 Then, I sought Him with all of my heart, \u201cWhy am I here?\u00a0 Why am I here?\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, not everyone is going to hear a voice or maybe get a definitive answer like I did.\u00a0 That was the timing God needed for me; but if you seek Him, you will find Him.\u00a0 He does have a plan for each of our lives.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You were driving, back and forth, two-and-a-half hours a day, to do the afternoon shift over in Camdenton, Missouri?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s a long haul.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I did that for five years.\u00a0 We moved a little closer after three years, but it was a long haul through the Ozarks\u2014a very windy road.\u00a0 I would work usually ten, if not more, hours because we didn\u2019t have kids.\u00a0 I was very hungry to learn more about radio.\u00a0 So, I was all in.\u00a0 <strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>Did your husband get transferred somewhere else?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 After five years, he got out.\u00a0 We had marriage trouble, to be honest.\u00a0 He had two assignments, where I didn\u2019t go.\u00a0 He went to Chicago for a season.\u00a0 He went to Panama for a season.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And you didn\u2019t go with him?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I didn\u2019t go with him.\u00a0 We rationalized it because we were the assistant\u2014the unpaid children\u2019s pastors at our church, we owned a home, and I was on the radio.\u00a0 We almost lost our marriage during that season.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, your advice to someone who is thinking about maybe keeping their career, at the expense of not moving with their spouse\u2014\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019m against it.\u00a0 I don\u2019t want to push my convictions on others, but my personal opinion\u2014since that\u2019s what you\u2019ve asked for\u2014is that you need to stay together.\u00a0 You need each other.\u00a0 You need each other\u2014spirit, soul, and body.\u00a0 Couples should stay together.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSometimes, you can\u2019t help it.\u00a0 The Army often moves people away from you for long periods of time, and there are short stints.\u00a0 You can seek the Lord, maybe for a short stint, but it\u2019s better to be together.\u00a0 I\u2019m an advocate of staying.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Was it just isolation that you two went through\u2014just not sharing the same life but just two independent people, living in two different places, doing their own things?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I think that was part of it.\u00a0 I think that there were things from our past\u2014from our parents\u2019 pasts, things\u2014dysfunctions we brought into our marriage as young people that we\u2019d never dealt with\u2014never really honest\u2014some pride.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 But you held it together?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, to the glory of God.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Why did you hold it together?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 I mean when it got tough,\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.<strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014why didn\u2019t you just say, \u201cOkay, we\u2019ll start again.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 We\u2019ve had two instances in our marriage where we\u2019ve almost split.\u00a0 This particular instance, I think, we stayed because we loved God and His Word.\u00a0 We were both committed to Christ.\u00a0 When it got down to it, we stood by the Word.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 But you didn\u2019t like each other?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I did not like my husband for a long time, and he knew that; but we stayed together.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 During that same period of time, you two were struggling with infertility.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Did that have an impact on your marriage relationship, as well?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, I think that was a big part of all the problems that we had over the years because there was so much pain with our infertility.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think we dealt with it properly.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think that I cried and accepted that I was infertile.\u00a0 I kept saying, \u201cGod\u2019s going to make this happen.\u00a0 It\u2019s going to happen.\u00a0 It\u2019s going to happen.\u00a0 It\u2019s going to happen.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI don\u2019t think we ever talked about the intense pain that we felt.\u00a0 We were like this perfect Christian couple on the outside.\u00a0 We pushed down our pain on the inside.\u00a0 So, I think our infertility had a lot to do with the marriage problems we had over the years.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You eventually left the middle of the state of Missouri\u2014wound up in\u2014where was it? \u2014North Carolina, next?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Let\u2019s see, we went to Iowa, where I helped launch KCWN in Pella, Iowa.\u00a0 I was actually there for a job for my husband; but wherever he went, I would just find a Christian station and get involved.\u00a0 Then, we ended up in North Carolina.\u00a0 Then, his job transferred us to Florida, where, for ten years, I worked for Z88.3 in Orlando.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s a big music station in Orlando.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 They\u2019re number one in Orlando.\u00a0 They\u2019re amazing\u2014amazing group of people.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You went on to be the host or the co-host of a number of stations from New Jersey to Sacramento, all across the country\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, sir.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014until you landed a job in 2008.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 I\u2014you\u2019re talking about K-LOVE?\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, how many people a day were listening to you in the afternoons or in the mornings on K-LOVE?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure at that time, but I think it was four million a week\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s a pretty good-sized audience; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s amazing.\u00a0 It\u2019s amazing.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Did you just walk in and say, \u201cHey, I can do this,\u201d or how did you get the job at K-LOVE?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, I mentioned that we went through some trouble in our marriage\u2014twice.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 In 2006, my husband got a job promotion that would move us to California.\u00a0 That\u2019s what he wanted.\u00a0 Well, it\u2019s not what I wanted.\u00a0 We had been infertile for many years; and when I was 36, we\u2014it was almost like, \u201cI want to be a mom, and it\u2019s not going away.\u201d\u00a0 God knows I\u2019m strong and willful, \u201cI can be on a plane to China tomorrow\u201d\u2014I mean, like, \u201cGod just tell me what I\u2019m supposed to do.\u201d\u00a0 We had tried to adopt once, and it had fallen through\u2014another time of deep pain in our lives.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, we decided, as a couple, that we would see a doctor.\u00a0 We began working with an infertility specialist in Orlando, and I had gotten pregnant.\u00a0 It was a painful journey to get to that point; but during this season of our lives, after the adoption fell through, to that point, we really grew apart.\u00a0 Our marriage was very\u2014just being honest\u2014our marriage was a mess, but we acted like it was fine.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 For a second time, then\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 For a second time.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014you\u2019re off in the ditch.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 My husband says it\u2019s because we didn\u2019t heal properly the first time.\u00a0 He wasn\u2019t willing\u2014he was proud.\u00a0 These are his words.\u00a0 He was trying to heal our marriage\u2014he tells me in hindsight.\u00a0 So, he took us to California.\u00a0 When we got there, is when Jesus showed up in our house.\u00a0 It was a time of deep healing.\u00a0 It was an honest time. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBottom line was he brought a lot of pride into our marriage, and I brought a lot of dishonesty.\u00a0 I won\u2019t tell you how I really feel about anything.\u00a0 I\u2019ll act like everything is fine, all the time; and on the inside, I\u2019m going, \u201cI hate you.\u00a0 I wish I wasn\u2019t here\u201d\u2014just dishonest, but it\u2019s all I knew.\u00a0 It\u2019s just how I functioned.\u00a0 I was inauthentic.\u00a0 I seemed so authentic, but I was really inauthentic.\u00a0 God saw all of that; right?\u00a0 He brought us to a point, and we got to California.\u00a0 Here I am now, finally, pregnant\u2014what we\u2019d prayed for, for all these years, and we\u2019re just a mess.\u00a0 We\u2019re very, very far apart from each other.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br>It was Easter of 2007.\u00a0 I feel like the Lord, on Good Friday, just showed up in our house.\u00a0 We were very honest with each other for the first time about a lot of things that we had hidden.\u00a0 I thought our marriage was, for sure, over; and I saw my husband cry.\u00a0 He cried for three days.\u00a0 He just broke.\u00a0 Then, I broke also.\u00a0 I was hard, too; and I broke.\u00a0 We had some Christian friends who flew in.\u00a0 They just rallied around us, and held us, and walked with us, and pointed us to the Word.\u00a0 We got into a really good counselor.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAt that time, the church that we had started attending sought my husband out to be their children\u2019s pastor, which is the calling on his life.\u00a0 He is an amazing, amazing children\u2019s pastor.\u00a0 He thought, \u201cNot me.\u00a0 God could never use me.\u201d\u00a0 He was humble and broken for the first time.\u00a0 At that time, I just reached out to K-LOVE because we had moved, because of my husband\u2019s job, to the backyard of K-LOVE!\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Now, were you pregnant at the time?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I had just had a baby, my little John David.\u00a0 He was a brand-new baby.\u00a0 He was born in February.\u00a0 God rearranged our lives at Easter and then, I started working at K-LOVE in September.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay, time out here.\u00a0 So, you were infertile for like 20 years?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You get pregnant after all the anguish of wanting to be a mom.\u00a0 You\u2019re a mom, and you throw yourself back into your career?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 What were you feeling at that point?\u00a0 Were you feeling conflicted, or was this just a matter of habit?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is what I knew!\u00a0 This is who I was, in a way.\u00a0 I was a radio girl.\u00a0 So, I have this baby; but in my mind, that\u2019s what God called me to.\u00a0 I\u2019m supposed to be on the radio.\u00a0 So, I sought a radio job; and I got pregnant, like my first week.\u00a0 I remember telling my boss, David Pierce, \u201cI\u2019m going to have a baby.\u201d\u00a0 He goes, \u201cWell, you weren\u2019t pregnant when I hired you.\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019m like, \u201cNo, sir, I wasn\u2019t; but I\u2019m taking maternity leave in nine months.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat was\u2014God healed my marriage.\u00a0 God called my husband into the ministry.\u00a0 God let me continue in the ministry.\u00a0 He had given us a child; and then, I just got pregnant.\u00a0 It was like the icing on the Jesus cake.\u00a0 It was like the icing on the icing on the icing.\u00a0 This is what God called me to do\u2014He made me to do.\u00a0 I\u2019m working on K-LOVE.\u00a0 I have children.\u00a0 My marriage is healed.\u00a0 \u201cWow!\u00a0 This is the dream.\u00a0 Could it be any better?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat continued.\u00a0 I had the next baby.\u00a0 I took maternity leave.\u00a0 I got pregnant again and miscarried.\u00a0 That was another little painful time.\u00a0 Then, they asked me to move to the morning show.\u00a0 It was almost like it was spinning.\u00a0 There\u2019d been so much moving and so much healing; now we have a baby; now, we have another baby; and now, you\u2019re on the morning show.\u00a0 It was just\u2014it was a lot over a short period of time.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAfter\u2014kind of like, now, we get to the nitty-gritty of who I am today and what\u2019s going on.\u00a0 This past year, I began to have panic attacks.\u00a0 I began stuttering a little bit in the afternoons.\u00a0 I just said, \u201cMy current lifestyle is no longer sustainable.\u00a0 Something is going to have to give.\u201d\u00a0 I sought the Lord with all my heart again and felt like, \u201cIf something\u2019s going to give, it\u2019s obviously not my family.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI made the decision, \u201cI\u2019m going to need to step down from K-LOVE.\u201d\u00a0 I told my husband.\u00a0 He was, at that time, working at a church in Indianapolis and not making a lot of money; and I was making a lot of money.\u00a0 There was a lot of pressure there to continue to work\u2014in myself.\u00a0 I had a lot of people on my team that depended on me.\u00a0 I felt like I would be letting God down and letting everyone down if I stopped working.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 So, you said, \u201cI\u2019ve got to come home.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I said, \u201cMy current lifestyle is no longer sustainable.\u201d\u00a0 We began to seek the Lord about what He wanted us to do.\u00a0 I stepped down from the K-LOVE\u2014the K-LOVE Morning Show, where you think, \u201cOh, I\u2019ll do this for 20 years.\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019m talking to people about Jesus!\u2014millions of people\u2014\u201cThank You, God, for this chair and this microphone.\u201d\u00a0 Then, I stepped away so that I can focus on my children.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tGuys, I\u2019ve never experienced peace and happiness like I have now.\u00a0 It\u2019s like\u2014I tell my husband all the time, \u201cIt\u2019s like I live in the Promised Land.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Now, wait.\u00a0 You don\u2019t have a paycheck like you used to have.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 We make one-third\u2014a little less than a third of what we used to make.\u00a0 We work a tight budget.\u00a0 It\u2019s a joy to be a mom.\u00a0 I\u2019m still a radio person.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 We can tell.\u00a0 <br>\u00a0\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019m still a radio person.\u00a0 [Laughter]\u00a0 This past week, I was on KXOJ, in Tulsa, helping raise money\u2014I\u2019m doing one-day projects, once a month, for humanitarian efforts.\u00a0 For World Concern<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, I was raising money this past week.\u00a0 I go here and there and do radio very, very, very part-time.\u00a0 I\u2019m blogging for <em>MomLife Today<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup>.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019m starting to blog so I can express myself through writing and reach out to other moms\u2014maybe moms in a similar situation, maybe feeling the pressure of life and thinking, \u201cThere\u2019s no answer because we\u2019ve got to make this money;\u201d but there\u2019s always an answer.\u00a0 There\u2019s always a way if you\u2019re feeling led by God to do something.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 A third less than you used to make?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 But you\u2019re making it?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And you\u2019re a family?\u00a0 you find yourselves on days going, \u201cI wish we could do this or afford this,\u201d or, \u201cI wish we could take that vacation\u201d?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, it\u2019s difficult because it\u2019s hard for me to stop being like, \u201cHey, let\u2019s eat out.\u00a0 Hey, let\u2019s go here.\u201d\u00a0 We dipped into savings a little bit, and we\u2019re working it like a game.\u00a0 God is so faithful!\u00a0 You can trust Him.\u00a0 He\u2019s going to provide for you.\u00a0 He provides.\u00a0 We\u2019re not hungry.\u00a0 You know?\u00a0 Our needs are met, and we\u2019re happy we\u2019re together.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, Lisa, you\u2019ve gone from a ministry to millions to a ministry that no other person, no other woman on the planet, has been given as an assignment\u2014a ministry of being a mom to two boys\u2014a five-year-old and a three-year-old\u2014irreplaceable.\u00a0 No one else can do that.\u00a0 I hate to say it, but they probably replaced you\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 They did!\u00a0 They found someone else who could host the\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014at K-LOVE.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014K-LOVE Morning Show!\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Unbelievable\u2014not very good.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 No, they actually shut it down.\u00a0 They shut down the whole operation.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You just hear flat waves on the radio.\u00a0 [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, as you process things, that\u2019s where it came down to where I processed it to the point where I said, \u201cSomeone else can do the K-LOVE Morning Show.\u00a0 Nobody else can be the mom of JD and Jesse.\u00a0 That\u2019s my job!\u201d\u00a0 Then, figuring out these things and, then, saying, \u201cOkay, now how am I going to do it?\u201d \u2014not being scared, and just stepping out, and trusting God.\u00a0 He\u2019s always faithful.\u00a0 He\u2019s always faithful.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe part that I didn\u2019t expect is how wonderful\u2014once you go through a marriage and you stick out really tough times, and you come through these storms, or you deal through pain, and you get to the other side\u2014just be encouraged there is another side!\u00a0 I mean, we have a wonderful marriage.\u00a0 There\u2019s peace.\u00a0 There\u2019s respect.\u00a0 There\u2019s love and joy in our home.\u00a0 We have children.\u00a0 It\u2019s really rich.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 One last question, \u201cDo you ever struggle with comparison?\u201d\u00a0 Seems to me, with families like yours\u2014where you are\u2014as you start rubbing shoulders with other families who are raising a three-year-old and a five-year-old, and they\u2019re going and doing\u2014there\u2019s all this comparison to have these kids plugged into all these different places.\u00a0 You may not quite be there, yet; but any temptation to compare and go, \u201cI wonder if we did the right thing.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 In making this decision?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<br><strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 No, I haven\u2019t had any.\u00a0 No, just because of who we are and what we\u2019ve come through and what we\u2019ve seen God do.\u00a0 We lean on each other.\u00a0 My husband and I\u2014we\u2019re really a unit.\u00a0 He\u2019s strong.\u00a0 He knows this is where we belong.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHe says to me\u2014he said to me three times now.\u00a0 We\u2019ll be lying in bed talking, \u201cI can\u2019t believe how we are now.\u00a0 We\u2019re together!\u00a0 We\u2019re doing this together.\u00a0 We\u2019re not each doing our own separate things.\u201d\u00a0 He goes, \u201cIt just makes me so happy,\u201d \u2014he\u2019ll say because I\u2019m all into children\u2019s ministry\u2014I\u2019m with him 100 percent.\u00a0 There is nothing that I could compare to, going, \u201cI wish I had....\u00a0 I wish I had....\u201d\u00a0 I love what God has done and who we are right now.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s a great picture of contentment.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Lisa:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Way to go!\u00a0
