tuned in, are in a mall parking lot, waiting for a space to open up today, or have tuned in, waiting for the game to kick off.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Why do they call this\u2014isn\u2019t it called like\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s Black Friday.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Black Friday?\u00a0 Why do they call it that?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Because a lot of businesses are either in the black or in the red, depending on what goes on today.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You know black seems to me to be about mourning.\u00a0 (Laughter)\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, actually, it is interesting because we\u2019ve been listening this week to a message that is about mourning, and about suffering, and about how we find God in the midst of that.\u00a0 We\u2019ve already heard Part One of a message from Pastor Bobby Scott, a message from Psalm 63\u2014the point that he makes\u2014in fact, he really makes two points in this message.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe first point is that God is better than anything that you could lose in a time of suffering.\u00a0 The psalms bear that out.\u00a0 When you read David, in the midst of what he was going through\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014he always came back to the fact that his satisfaction in the midst of trial was to know that God was there and cared about him.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Then, the second thing Bobby talks about is that God is more satisfying than everything we could ever possibly gain.\u00a0 If you look at all of life, doesn\u2019t it break down into those two issues\u2014loss and gain?\u00a0 In the midst of that, finding God and not getting distracted by either\u2014that\u2019s really a challenge.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBobby Scott has been pastoring at Los Angeles Community Bible Church since 1994.\u00a0 He is a lecturer at Biola University\u2019s BOLD program.\u00a0 He\u2019s an author of a blog called \u201cTruth in the City\u201d.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Some of our listeners have been introduced to him as they have been to an <em>Art of Marriage<\/em>\u00ae event because\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014Bobby is one of the guys who participated in putting that project together and made a great contribution to it.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Bobby has a passion about family, whether it\u2019s in urban America or all across the nation.\u00a0 He is just a good man who believes in the Scriptures and is going to do a great job again today of unpacking Psalm 63.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is the second half of his message on Psalm 63.\u00a0 Here is Bobby Scott.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobby:<\/strong>\u00a0 [recorded message]\u00a0 There\u2019s a second confession in the psalm that I want us to see, and to look at, and to affirm.\u00a0 In verses five through seven, the psalmist says, \u201cMy soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth offers praises with joyful lips.\u201d\u00a0 Not only is God better than everything we will lose, but God is also more satisfying than everything that we will possibly gain.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHere David\u2014has this\u2014I love this picture.\u00a0 He\u2019s saying, \u201cThat my soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness.\u201d\u00a0 He\u2019s just thinking of the richest food that he could eat that could satisfy him physically; and he saying, \u201cGod, You satisfy my soul better than that.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHere, God allows us to go through trials sometimes just to re-teach us\u2014like, \u201cI believe, but I got cracks; so my faith leaks out.\u201d\u00a0 God has to keep filling us back up and keep allowing us to affirm what is true about Him.\u00a0 God wants to reaffirm to you, and He wants to reaffirm to me that He is more satisfying than anything that we could possibly lose\u2014He is.\u00a0 Because of His loving kindness and because of who He is, He wants to keep refilling us.\u00a0 So, He wants to keep reminding us as to what can satisfy our souls.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tCan I tell you what won\u2019t satisfy our soul?\u00a0 A spouse can\u2019t satisfy a soul.\u00a0 So, when people are single, in their 30s\u2014it\u2019s getting hard\u201435, and 40, \u201cOkay, my knight in shining armor is coming.\u00a0 He just lost his GPS.\u00a0 Soon as he finds it, he\u2019ll be here.\u201d\u00a0 (Laughter)\u00a0 \u201cThat\u2019ll satisfy my soul.\u201d\u00a0 That won\u2019t satisfy your soul.\u00a0 \u201cI am going to have kids, and that\u2019ll satisfy my soul.\u201d\u00a0 Kids won\u2019t satisfy your soul.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cI\u2019m going to work hard in school, straight A\u2019s, graduate at the top of my class, get the best job, make a lot of money.\u201d\u00a0 It won\u2019t satisfy your soul.\u00a0 Ask Solomon.\u00a0 It was all vanity to him\u2014it was.\u00a0 You know why it won\u2019t satisfy your soul?\u00a0 There is no such thing as a perfect spouse.\u00a0 There\u2019s no such thing as a perfectly sacrificial husband, or perfectly submissive wife, or perfectly obedient kids.\u00a0 There\u2019s nothing perfect in this universe\u2014save One, and that\u2019s God. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tTo satisfy our souls, He gives us Himself.\u00a0 He\u2019s better than all the gifts.\u00a0 He\u2019s better than a spouse.\u00a0 He is better than children.\u00a0 He\u2019s better than anything you possibly can gain in life.\u00a0 He, Himself, can satisfy us.\u00a0 He has not withheld Himself from us so that we can have Him.\u00a0 He gave us His only begotten Son so that we could have Him; and in having Him, we have something alone that would satisfy our souls.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, here in the midst of his trial, his dark, dark trial, the psalmist says, \u201cMy soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness.\u00a0 My mouth offers praises with joyful lips.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn the New Testament, you have the Apostle Paul in the book of Philippians.\u00a0 He is in jail.\u00a0 The Philippians are going through, likewise, persecution.\u00a0 Paul tells them the same here.\u00a0 He is praising God.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because God is just\u2014He\u2019s just better than\u2014He\u2019s just more satisfying.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tCircumstances don\u2019t give satisfaction.\u00a0 Our contentment doesn\u2019t come from getting what we want.\u00a0 It\u2019s recognizing what we have in God.\u00a0 He is our un-bounding, un-measuring treasure.\u00a0 He is.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt says in the next verse, verse six, \u201cWhen I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.\u201d\u00a0 That having the greatest treasure in the world will do you no good if it\u2019s stored away in a safe and you forget the combination.\u00a0 Here David remembers what his greatest treasure is.\u00a0 When he is on bed at night and his mind wants to go in a thousand different directions in the midst of his trial, what God, by His grace, allows David\u2019s mind to focus on is His answer to his problem\u2014and it is God.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn our economic crisis, it\u2019s not economists, it\u2019s not a balanced budget, it\u2019s not having the right politician in office; what satisfies in the midst of an economic crisis is God.\u00a0 We just have to remember that.\u00a0 When you are going through a trial\u2014here in the night watches, David is on his bed.\u00a0 He\u2019s tossing, and he\u2019s turning.\u00a0 His mind is going, and your mind will go.\u00a0 When I would drive home\u2014when my \u201cstar\u201d was in the hospital, I would just cry.\u00a0 I would just cry, and I would get in my bed, and my mind wouldn\u2019t stop reeling.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhat God wants us to do when you can\u2019t sleep because there is a trial\u2014because you don\u2019t know how the story is going to end, because we can\u2019t write our own stories\u2014what God wants to focus our mind on is, \u201cHe writes our stories.\u00a0 He brings about the end, and He knows what we need.\u00a0 God\u2014He is gracious.\u00a0 He is concerned for you.\u00a0 He loves you.\u00a0 He will withhold no good thing from those who love Him, and He will be with you.\u00a0 He will satisfy you.\u00a0 Do you believe that?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYes.\u00a0 We have to keep reaffirming that.\u00a0 God has to keep helping us to affirm that\u2014that He really will satisfy us.\u00a0 So, in your night watches, when you can\u2019t sleep\u2014I don\u2019t know, maybe you\u2019re sitting here and nobody knows that your marriage is really going through it right now; maybe this economic crisis has hit you really, really hard and you don\u2019t know how these bills are going to get paid; maybe there is someone in your family who is really sick; maybe you got a call, and you just don\u2019t know how this all is going to turn out.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou\u2019re in your bed, flipping back and forth.\u00a0 You know what the prescription for anxiety is?\u00a0 The prescription for anxiety is to know that God cares for you.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhen my wife and I got married, I told her, \u201cI just want to serve in the hard part of the city.\u201d\u00a0 The church that the Lord called me to is just a major city block north of the L.A. Riots.\u00a0 It was a small congregation.\u00a0 I told my wife, \u201cI may never\u201d\u2014this is how unromantic my proposal was\u2014I told her, \u201cI may never be able to buy you a house.\u00a0 I may never buy you a new car.\u00a0 I\u2019m not even seeking after those things.\u00a0 Will you marry me?\u201d\u00a0 (Laughter)\u00a0 I knew she loved me because she said, \u201cYes.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThen, as we were getting married and we were trying to get some things for this apartment we were about to move in, we needed a bedroom set and other furniture.\u00a0 I had budgeted $700 to buy a bedroom set.\u00a0 So, I go to some of the stores, and I look.\u00a0 I mean, that cheap, fake wood stuff was $1,400.\u00a0 I\u2019m like, \u201cOkay, what am I going to do now?\u201d\u00a0 You know?\u00a0 So, I\u2019m looking through ads and all kinds of places\u2014coupons, and specials, and sales.\u00a0 Nothing was even close to my measly little $700 budget.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, I\u2019m going to a recycler.\u00a0 There\u2019s a guy who had a mansion in Hollywood Hills, and said he was selling some bedroom furniture.\u00a0 I must have been\u2014I don\u2019t know what I was thinking.\u00a0 I thought, \u201cHey, I\u2019ll just go out and see if he\u2019ll sell it to me for $700.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, I go out there; and I look.\u00a0 It\u2019s this antique, beautiful French Pavilion bedroom set.\u00a0 I mean the armoires\u2019 this tall, and the night stands are that big\u2014really ornate in design\u2014weighs like a thousand pounds because it is real wood\u2014a huge mirror.\u00a0 It just had all the stuff.\u00a0 He said, \u201cHow much can you give me for it?\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019m like, \u201c$700.\u201d\u00a0 (Laughter)\u00a0 He didn\u2019t laugh, like you just did.\u00a0 He said, \u201cYou can have it.\u201d\u00a0 You know why?\u00a0 Because there is a God in heaven who loves us.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHe always loves you, even when you forget; but He wants us to remember that.\u00a0 He wants you to remember all the times He was there and He rescued you, He delivered you when there was no hope\u2014you\u2019re back is against the Red Sea, the Philistines on that side.\u00a0 You don\u2019t know what to do, you don\u2019t know where to turn, you can\u2019t save yourself and you cry out to God; and He just comes through\u2014He just comes through.\u00a0 He wants us to remember Him.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThere is no temptation that\u2019s overtaken us for what\u2019s common to man, but what does it say?\u00a0 God is faithful; right?\u00a0 He\u2019s trustworthy, reliable, dependable, and because of that, He will satisfy your soul.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe psalmist says, \u201cFor You have been my help.\u00a0 In the shadow of Your wings, I sing for joy that God is our hope.\u201d\u00a0 I just love that.\u00a0 Whenever you are going through something\u2014our problems seem so big\u2014right?\u2014just huge.\u00a0 Is there such a thing as a big problem for God?\u00a0 God is our help.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHere, the psalmist has a picture of being underneath a wing of like an eagle\u2014that, \u201cI\u2019m safe here.\u00a0 There\u2019s comfort here.\u00a0 There\u2019s security here.\u00a0 I\u2019m safe.\u201d\u00a0 So, in the midst of my trial, covered up by an eagle\u2019s wing, \u201cI\u2019m covered up by God.\u201d\u00a0 So, I\u2019m satisfied, even in the midst of the storm.\u00a0 He doesn\u2019t have to get me out of the storm; I can rejoice in the middle of it.\u00a0 I can have joy.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNot because everything around me is going crazy; I can have joy because I know God will help me.\u00a0 He will be there.\u00a0 He won\u2019t forsake me.\u00a0 He won\u2019t leave me.\u00a0 \u201cYet, my husband left me.\u00a0 My dad died,\u201d but God will never leave you or forsake you.\u00a0 He will just be there.\u00a0 He is God, and He will be our help.\u00a0 He will be your help.\u00a0 That\u2019s good news, saints.\u00a0 That\u2019s really good news that God will be our help.\u00a0 This won\u2019t last.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tKind of a summary confession I want to draw from the psalm here.\u00a0 It begins in verse eight, \u201cMy soul clings to You.\u00a0 Your right hand upholds me.\u201d\u00a0 Here, the psalmist, he said, \u201cMy soul thirsts for You.\u201d\u00a0 He said, \u201cMy soul is satisfied with You.\u201d\u00a0 Now, he says, \u201cMy soul clings to you.\u201d\u00a0 This is a picture of like when God glues a husband and wife together.\u00a0 He says, \u201cGod, my soul is glued to You.\u201d\u00a0 He says, \u201cYour right hand upholds me.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHere is the third confession I want to draw from\u2014that is\u2014God is powerful enough to help you endure every trial.\u00a0 God is powerful enough to help you endure <em>every<\/em> trial.\u00a0 Here, the psalmist is stuck to God; and he says, \u201cI\u2019m stuck to you, Your strong hand\u2014Your right hand upholds me.\u201d\u00a0 That says something to me.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tGrowing up, I used to like to play basketball.\u00a0 So, if you put a basketball in my hand, with my right hand, I might do something; but you put a basketball in Michael Jordan\u2019s right hand and you might see something amazing; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhen you put your life in God\u2019s hand, is there a better place to be?\u00a0 Even when the storms are raging\u2014that we can rejoice in God.\u00a0 Because of our salvation, we are stuck to Christ; so that, nothing can separate us from the love of God.\u00a0 We\u2019re in His strong hand.\u00a0 Nothing can pluck us out of His hand.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, here the psalmist goes through and tells what his challenge is.\u00a0 He is in God\u2019s strong right hand.\u00a0 He said, \u201cThere are those who seek my life to destroy it; they will go into the depths of the earth.\u201d\u00a0 Can I just say what that means?\u00a0 All of our enemies\u2014all of our enemies will lose.\u00a0 There\u2019s no weapon formed against us that will prosper.\u00a0 God will\u2014God will always rescue us.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s not a fairy tale\u2014\u201cOnce upon a time in a land far, far away, and it ended happily ever after.\u201d\u00a0 That\u2019s true of us because we have the real Savior\u2014not Captain America.\u00a0 We have a real hero, and it\u2019s Jesus Christ.\u00a0 He will rescue us from every harm and every danger.\u00a0 He will see us through every storm and brings us to Jordan\u2019s side.\u00a0 He will help us.\u00a0 He will help us get through it all.\u00a0 He\u2019ll deliver us.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut our enemies, verse 10, \u201cThey will be delivered over to the power of the sword.\u00a0 They will be prey.\u201d\u00a0 They will die shameful lives, out on display open for foxes to destroy them, but the king will rejoice in God.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe king will rejoice in God.\u00a0 Not only David, but everyone else who swears by Him will glory.\u00a0 This is true of every single believer.\u00a0 These promises are ours.\u00a0 We make these confessions.\u00a0 They are true.\u00a0 God will bless us through any storm or trial that we go through so that, at the end of it, we will be able to rejoice.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tCan I ask you a question?\u00a0 \u201cWhy did you come here today?\u201d\u00a0 Did you come because, \u201cThat\u2019s what I do\u201d, \u201cJust out of habit\u201d, \u201cWhat else would I do?\u00a0 It\u2019s Sunday morning?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Sometimes, we can just have a perfunctory kind of relationship with God and just go through things.\u00a0 We do it because, \u201cWe do it.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tDid you come just because your mom and dad drug you to church?\u00a0 I\u2019m speaking to the young ones, right now.\u00a0 Do you do that?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOr do we come here because, \u201cI have a thirst that only God can quench,\u201d \u201cI have a hunger that only God can satisfy\u201d?\u00a0 God wants you to know that He loves you, and He wants to fill you with joy, even in the midst of our storms.\u00a0 We have to come with eager hearts, full of faith, knowing that He will bless us.\u00a0 These promises\u2014that He says, \u201cHe will never leave us or forsake us,\u201d are true, and they are all real.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tLet me just close with this.\u00a0 What we practice, we learn; what we learn, we become; and what we become has consequences.\u00a0 Here David\u2014this is what he did.\u00a0 I mean, maybe not every day, all days, but this is what he did.\u00a0 This is what he practiced.\u00a0 This is what he learned.\u00a0 So, David is called \u201ca man after God\u2019s own heart.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWith his sins, with his struggles, with his weaknesses, he became a man after God\u2019s own heart because this is what God, by His grace, led David to do\u2014just to affirm these confessions that God is\u2014\u201cHe\u2019s better than everything in life; He is more satisfying; and that He will see us through every storm that is storming.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe, by faith, embrace, \u201cThat God will help us through everything.\u201d\u00a0 So, at the end, it\u2019s not us, not\u2014people saying, \u201cHow did you endure that?\u00a0 You\u2019re just so amazing.\u00a0 You\u2019re so strong when your husband did that, when your kids respond that way, when your house burned down.\u201d\u00a0 Then, people will see us\u2014they will see broken vessels.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThey\u2019ll see people who cry, people who are hurt; but when we affirm these things, what they\u2019ll see through our cracks, they\u2019ll see the glory of God radiating through.\u00a0 They\u2019ll say, \u201cThey\u2019re clinging to something I don\u2019t have.\u00a0 There\u2019s a love that they have that I don\u2019t know.\u00a0 There\u2019s something that they\u2019re experiencing that\u2019s satisfying them that I can\u2019t even understand.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tGod will put us through trials just to put Himself on display\u2014that He\u2019s enough.\u00a0 He is more than enough.\u00a0 If you know that, and you\u2019ve tasted and seen that God is good, then, we\u2019re blessed.\u00a0 God bless you.\u00a0 Let\u2019s pray together.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<em>Father, I thank You for Your Word.<\/em><em>\u00a0 <\/em><em>I thank you for\u2014that everything in Psalm 63 is true\u2014that we\u2019re not clinging to a fairytale or make-believe; but, \u201cGod, You do love us.\u201d<\/em><em>\u00a0 <\/em><em>We can experience it sometimes clearest through our darkness nights and our most difficult trials.<\/em><em>\u00a0 <\/em>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<em>\u00a0<\/em>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<em>So, I pray if there is someone here, and it\u2019s just hard\u2014I pray, God, that You would help them.<\/em><em>\u00a0 <\/em><em>If there is someone here who has a loved one or friend and they are going through something hard\u2014help them Lord.<\/em><em>\u00a0 <\/em><em>Encourage them with the speaking from Psalm 63.\u00a0 This can be a difficult season of the year for a lot of folks who find themselves in hard settings.\u00a0 It may be that you don\u2019t have as much money this year as you had last year.\u00a0 It may be that a loved one is gone.\u00a0 There can be all kinds of situations that families find themselves in; and we have to remember that God is faithful in the storms, just as He is faithful when the sun is shining.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 As Bobby was talking, Bob, I was reflecting back on Proverbs, Chapter 30, second half of verse eight and nine.\u00a0 It says, \u201cGive me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is needful for me,\/Lest I be full and deny You and say, \u2018Where is the Lord?\u2019\u00a0 Or lest I be poor and steal,\/And profane the name of my God.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIf you look at that passage, it\u2019s really talking about what Bobby said in the two parts of his sermon.\u00a0 In life, there is loss and gain.\u00a0 The author of Proverbs was talking about, \u201cDon\u2019t let me lose so much or be so poor that I end up stealing and bring dishonor to God\u2019s name; nor let me be so wealthy and so full, that I deny God and live like an atheist.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThink of America, in these days, boy, there is both today.\u00a0 We are a nation of plenty.\u00a0 We are also a nation of those who are suffering with poverty\u2014they\u2019ve lost jobs, health, other issues in their family, as you\u2019ve mentioned, Bob.\u00a0 I think the message that Bobby gives us today is, \u201cWhere is God in your life in the midst of this?\u00a0 Is He preeminent?\u00a0 Are you yielding and surrendering to Him?\u00a0 Are you giving Him the glory?\u00a0 Are you determined to follow Him regardless?\u00a0 Or are you going to deny God or dishonor God?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Bobby talked about our need to have our relationship with God re-established or reconnected through the ministry of Jesus Christ through what Christ did.\u00a0 Mankind rebelled against God in the beginning in the Garden.\u00a0 All of us have had that as our legacy that has been left to us.\u00a0 God sent Christ in order to redeem us and reconcile us to Himself.\u00a0 The way we have a relationship with God is by trusting in the work that His Son did.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn fact, all of that is spelled tuned in, are in a mall parking lot, waiting for a space to open up today, or have tuned in, waiting for the game to kick off.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Why do they call this\u2014isn\u2019t it called like\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s Black Friday.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Black Friday?\u00a0 Why do they call it that?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Because a lot of businesses are either in the black or in the red, depending on what goes on today.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You know black seems to me to be about mourning.\u00a0 (Laughter)\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, actually, it is interesting because we\u2019ve been listening this week to a message that is about mourning, and about suffering, and about how we find God in the midst of that.\u00a0 We\u2019ve already heard Part One of a message from Pastor Bobby Scott, a message from Psalm 63\u2014the point that he makes\u2014in fact, he really makes two points in this message.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe first point is that God is better than anything that you could lose in a time of suffering.\u00a0 The psalms bear that out.\u00a0 When you read David, in the midst of what he was going through\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014he always came back to the fact that his satisfaction in the midst of trial was to know that God was there and cared about him.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Then, the second thing Bobby talks about is that God is more satisfying than everything we could ever possibly gain.\u00a0 If you look at all of life, doesn\u2019t it break down into those two issues\u2014loss and gain?\u00a0 In the midst of that, finding God and not getting distracted by either\u2014that\u2019s really a challenge.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBobby Scott has been pastoring at Los Angeles Community Bible Church since 1994.\u00a0 He is a lecturer at Biola University\u2019s BOLD program.\u00a0 He\u2019s an author of a blog called \u201cTruth in the City\u201d.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Some of our listeners have been introduced to him as they have been to an <em>Art of Marriage<\/em>\u00ae event because\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014Bobby is one of the guys who participated in putting that project together and made a great contribution to it.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Bobby has a passion about family, whether it\u2019s in urban America or all across the nation.\u00a0 He is just a good man who believes in the Scriptures and is going to do a great job again today of unpacking Psalm 63.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is the second half of his message on Psalm 63.\u00a0 Here is Bobby Scott.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bobby:<\/strong>\u00a0 [recorded message]\u00a0 There\u2019s a second confession in the psalm that I want us to see, and to look at, and to affirm.\u00a0 In verses five through seven, the psalmist says, \u201cMy soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth offers praises with joyful lips.\u201d\u00a0 Not only is God better than everything we will lose, but God is also more satisfying than everything that we will possibly gain.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHere David\u2014has this\u2014I love this picture.\u00a0 He\u2019s saying, \u201cThat my soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness.\u201d\u00a0 He\u2019s just thinking of the richest food that he could eat that could satisfy him physically; and he saying, \u201cGod, You satisfy my soul better than that.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHere, God allows us to go through trials sometimes just to re-teach us\u2014like, \u201cI believe, but I got cracks; so my faith leaks out.\u201d\u00a0 God has to keep filling us back up and keep allowing us to affirm what is true about Him.\u00a0 God wants to reaffirm to you, and He wants to reaffirm to me that He is more satisfying than anything that we could possibly lose\u2014He is.\u00a0 Because of His loving kindness and because of who He is, He wants to keep refilling us.\u00a0 So, He wants to keep reminding us as to what can satisfy our souls.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tCan I tell you what won\u2019t satisfy our soul?\u00a0 A spouse can\u2019t satisfy a soul.\u00a0 So, when people are single, in their 30s\u2014it\u2019s getting hard\u201435, and 40, \u201cOkay, my knight in shining armor is coming.\u00a0 He just lost his GPS.\u00a0 Soon as he finds it, he\u2019ll be here.\u201d\u00a0 (Laughter)\u00a0 \u201cThat\u2019ll satisfy my soul.\u201d\u00a0 That won\u2019t satisfy your soul.\u00a0 \u201cI am going to have kids, and that\u2019ll satisfy my soul.\u201d\u00a0 Kids won\u2019t satisfy your soul.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cI\u2019m going to work hard in school, straight A\u2019s, graduate at the top of my class, get the best job, make a lot of money.\u201d\u00a0 It won\u2019t satisfy your soul.\u00a0 Ask Solomon.\u00a0 It was all vanity to him\u2014it was.\u00a0 You know why it won\u2019t satisfy your soul?\u00a0 There is no such thing as a perfect spouse.\u00a0 There\u2019s no such thing as a perfectly sacrificial husband, or perfectly submissive wife, or perfectly obedient kids.\u00a0 There\u2019s nothing perfect in this universe\u2014save One, and that\u2019s God. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tTo satisfy our souls, He gives us Himself.\u00a0 He\u2019s better than all the gifts.\u00a0 He\u2019s better than a spouse.\u00a0 He is better than children.\u00a0 He\u2019s better than anything you possibly can gain in life.\u00a0 He, Himself, can satisfy us.\u00a0 He has not withheld Himself from us so that we can have Him.\u00a0 He gave us His only begotten Son so that we could have Him; and in having Him, we have something alone that would satisfy our souls.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, here in the midst of his trial, his dark, dark trial, the psalmist says, \u201cMy soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness.\u00a0 My mouth offers praises with joyful lips.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn the New Testament, you have the Apostle Paul in the book of Philippians.\u00a0 He is in jail.\u00a0 The Philippians are going through, likewise, persecution.\u00a0 Paul tells them the same here.\u00a0 He is praising God.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because God is just\u2014He\u2019s just better than\u2014He\u2019s just more satisfying.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tCircumstances don\u2019t give satisfaction.\u00a0 Our contentment doesn\u2019t come from getting what we want.\u00a0 It\u2019s recognizing what we have in God.\u00a0 He is our un-bounding, un-measuring treasure.\u00a0 He is.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt says in the next verse, verse six, \u201cWhen I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.\u201d\u00a0 That having the greatest treasure in the world will do you no good if it\u2019s stored away in a safe and you forget the combination.\u00a0 Here David remembers what his greatest treasure is.\u00a0 When he is on bed at night and his mind wants to go in a thousand different directions in the midst of his trial, what God, by His grace, allows David\u2019s mind to focus on is His answer to his problem\u2014and it is God.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn our economic crisis, it\u2019s not economists, it\u2019s not a balanced budget, it\u2019s not having the right politician in office; what satisfies in the midst of an economic crisis is God.\u00a0 We just have to remember that.\u00a0 When you are going through a trial\u2014here in the night watches, David is on his bed.\u00a0 He\u2019s tossing, and he\u2019s turning.\u00a0 His mind is going, and your mind will go.\u00a0 When I would drive home\u2014when my \u201cstar\u201d was in the hospital, I would just cry.\u00a0 I would just cry, and I would get in my bed, and my mind wouldn\u2019t stop reeling.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhat God wants us to do when you can\u2019t sleep because there is a trial\u2014because you don\u2019t know how the story is going to end, because we can\u2019t write our own stories\u2014what God wants to focus our mind on is, \u201cHe writes our stories.\u00a0 He brings about the end, and He knows what we need.\u00a0 God\u2014He is gracious.\u00a0 He is concerned for you.\u00a0 He loves you.\u00a0 He will withhold no good thing from those who love Him, and He will be with you.\u00a0 He will satisfy you.\u00a0 Do you believe that?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYes.\u00a0 We have to keep reaffirming that.\u00a0 God has to keep helping us to affirm that\u2014that He really will satisfy us.\u00a0 So, in your night watches, when you can\u2019t sleep\u2014I don\u2019t know, maybe you\u2019re sitting here and nobody knows that your marriage is really going through it right now; maybe this economic crisis has hit you really, really hard and you don\u2019t know how these bills are going to get paid; maybe there is someone in your family who is really sick; maybe you got a call, and you just don\u2019t know how this all is going to turn out.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou\u2019re in your bed, flipping back and forth.\u00a0 You know what the prescription for anxiety is?\u00a0 The prescription for anxiety is to know that God cares for you.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhen my wife and I got married, I told her, \u201cI just want to serve in the hard part of the city.\u201d\u00a0 The church that the Lord called me to is just a major city block north of the L.A. Riots.\u00a0 It was a small congregation.\u00a0 I told my wife, \u201cI may never\u201d\u2014this is how unromantic my proposal was\u2014I told her, \u201cI may never be able to buy you a house.\u00a0 I may never buy you a new car.\u00a0 I\u2019m not even seeking after those things.\u00a0 Will you marry me?\u201d\u00a0 (Laughter)\u00a0 I knew she loved me because she said, \u201cYes.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThen, as we were getting married and we were trying to get some things for this apartment we were about to move in, we needed a bedroom set and other furniture.\u00a0 I had budgeted $700 to buy a bedroom set.\u00a0 So, I go to some of the stores, and I look.\u00a0 I mean, that cheap, fake wood stuff was $1,400.\u00a0 I\u2019m like, \u201cOkay, what am I going to do now?\u201d\u00a0 You know?\u00a0 So, I\u2019m looking through ads and all kinds of places\u2014coupons, and specials, and sales.\u00a0 Nothing was even close to my measly little $700 budget.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, I\u2019m going to a recycler.\u00a0 There\u2019s a guy who had a mansion in Hollywood Hills, and said he was selling some bedroom furniture.\u00a0 I must have been\u2014I don\u2019t know what I was thinking.\u00a0 I thought, \u201cHey, I\u2019ll just go out and see if he\u2019ll sell it to me for $700.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, I go out there; and I look.\u00a0 It\u2019s this antique, beautiful French Pavilion bedroom set.\u00a0 I mean the armoires\u2019 this tall, and the night stands are that big\u2014really ornate in design\u2014weighs like a thousand pounds because it is real wood\u2014a huge mirror.\u00a0 It just had all the stuff.\u00a0 He said, \u201cHow much can you give me for it?\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019m like, \u201c$700.\u201d\u00a0 (Laughter)\u00a0 He didn\u2019t laugh, like you just did.\u00a0 He said, \u201cYou can have it.\u201d\u00a0 You know why?\u00a0 Because there is a God in heaven who loves us.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHe always loves you, even when you forget; but He wants us to remember that.\u00a0 He wants you to remember all the times He was there and He rescued you, He delivered you when there was no hope\u2014you\u2019re back is against the Red Sea, the Philistines on that side.\u00a0 You don\u2019t know what to do, you don\u2019t know where to turn, you can\u2019t save yourself and you cry out to God; and He just comes through\u2014He just comes through.\u00a0 He wants us to remember Him.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThere is no temptation that\u2019s overtaken us for what\u2019s common to man, but what does it say?\u00a0 God is faithful; right?\u00a0 He\u2019s trustworthy, reliable, dependable, and because of that, He will satisfy your soul.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe psalmist says, \u201cFor You have been my help.\u00a0 In the shadow of Your wings, I sing for joy that God is our hope.\u201d\u00a0 I just love that.\u00a0 Whenever you are going through something\u2014our problems seem so big\u2014right?\u2014just huge.\u00a0 Is there such a thing as a big problem for God?\u00a0 God is our help.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHere, the psalmist has a picture of being underneath a wing of like an eagle\u2014that, \u201cI\u2019m safe here.\u00a0 There\u2019s comfort here.\u00a0 There\u2019s security here.\u00a0 I\u2019m safe.\u201d\u00a0 So, in the midst of my trial, covered up by an eagle\u2019s wing, \u201cI\u2019m covered up by God.\u201d\u00a0 So, I\u2019m satisfied, even in the midst of the storm.\u00a0 He doesn\u2019t have to get me out of the storm; I can rejoice in the middle of it.\u00a0 I can have joy.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNot because everything around me is going crazy; I can have joy because I know God will help me.\u00a0 He will be there.\u00a0 He won\u2019t forsake me.\u00a0 He won\u2019t leave me.\u00a0 \u201cYet, my husband left me.\u00a0 My dad died,\u201d but God will never leave you or forsake you.\u00a0 He will just be there.\u00a0 He is God, and He will be our help.\u00a0 He will be your help.\u00a0 That\u2019s good news, saints.\u00a0 That\u2019s really good news that God will be our help.\u00a0 This won\u2019t last.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tKind of a summary confession I want to draw from the psalm here.\u00a0 It begins in verse eight, \u201cMy soul clings to You.\u00a0 Your right hand upholds me.\u201d\u00a0 Here, the psalmist, he said, \u201cMy soul thirsts for You.\u201d\u00a0 He said, \u201cMy soul is satisfied with You.\u201d\u00a0 Now, he says, \u201cMy soul clings to you.\u201d\u00a0 This is a picture of like when God glues a husband and wife together.\u00a0 He says, \u201cGod, my soul is glued to You.\u201d\u00a0 He says, \u201cYour right hand upholds me.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tHere is the third confession I want to draw from\u2014that is\u2014God is powerful enough to help you endure every trial.\u00a0 God is powerful enough to help you endure <em>every<\/em> trial.\u00a0 Here, the psalmist is stuck to God; and he says, \u201cI\u2019m stuck to you, Your strong hand\u2014Your right hand upholds me.\u201d\u00a0 That says something to me.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tGrowing up, I used to like to play basketball.\u00a0 So, if you put a basketball in my hand, with my right hand, I might do something; but you put a basketball in Michael Jordan\u2019s right hand and you might see something amazing; right?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhen you put your life in God\u2019s hand, is there a better place to be?\u00a0 Even when the storms are raging\u2014that we can rejoice in God.\u00a0 Because of our salvation, we are stuck to Christ; so that, nothing can separate us from the love of God.\u00a0 We\u2019re in His strong hand.\u00a0 Nothing can pluck us out of His hand.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, here the psalmist goes through and tells what his challenge is.\u00a0 He is in God\u2019s strong right hand.\u00a0 He said, \u201cThere are those who seek my life to destroy it; they will go into the depths of the earth.\u201d\u00a0 Can I just say what that means?\u00a0 All of our enemies\u2014all of our enemies will lose.\u00a0 There\u2019s no weapon formed against us that will prosper.\u00a0 God will\u2014God will always rescue us.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s not a fairy tale\u2014\u201cOnce upon a time in a land far, far away, and it ended happily ever after.\u201d\u00a0 That\u2019s true of us because we have the real Savior\u2014not Captain America.\u00a0 We have a real hero, and it\u2019s Jesus Christ.\u00a0 He will rescue us from every harm and every danger.\u00a0 He will see us through every storm and brings us to Jordan\u2019s side.\u00a0 He will help us.\u00a0 He will help us get through it all.\u00a0 He\u2019ll deliver us.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut our enemies, verse 10, \u201cThey will be delivered over to the power of the sword.\u00a0 They will be prey.\u201d\u00a0 They will die shameful lives, out on display open for foxes to destroy them, but the king will rejoice in God.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThe king will rejoice in God.\u00a0 Not only David, but everyone else who swears by Him will glory.\u00a0 This is true of every single believer.\u00a0 These promises are ours.\u00a0 We make these confessions.\u00a0 They are true.\u00a0 God will bless us through any storm or trial that we go through so that, at the end of it, we will be able to rejoice.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tCan I ask you a question?\u00a0 \u201cWhy did you come here today?\u201d\u00a0 Did you come because, \u201cThat\u2019s what I do\u201d, \u201cJust out of habit\u201d, \u201cWhat else would I do?\u00a0 It\u2019s Sunday morning?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Sometimes, we can just have a perfunctory kind of relationship with God and just go through things.\u00a0 We do it because, \u201cWe do it.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tDid you come just because your mom and dad drug you to church?\u00a0 I\u2019m speaking to the young ones, right now.\u00a0 Do you do that?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOr do we come here because, \u201cI have a thirst that only God can quench,\u201d \u201cI have a hunger that only God can satisfy\u201d?\u00a0 God wants you to know that He loves you, and He wants to fill you with joy, even in the midst of our storms.\u00a0 We have to come with eager hearts, full of faith, knowing that He will bless us.\u00a0 These promises\u2014that He says, \u201cHe will never leave us or forsake us,\u201d are true, and they are all real.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tLet me just close with this.\u00a0 What we practice, we learn; what we learn, we become; and what we become has consequences.\u00a0 Here David\u2014this is what he did.\u00a0 I mean, maybe not every day, all days, but this is what he did.\u00a0 This is what he practiced.\u00a0 This is what he learned.\u00a0 So, David is called \u201ca man after God\u2019s own heart.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWith his sins, with his struggles, with his weaknesses, he became a man after God\u2019s own heart because this is what God, by His grace, led David to do\u2014just to affirm these confessions that God is\u2014\u201cHe\u2019s better than everything in life; He is more satisfying; and that He will see us through every storm that is storming.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe, by faith, embrace, \u201cThat God will help us through everything.\u201d\u00a0 So, at the end, it\u2019s not us, not\u2014people saying, \u201cHow did you endure that?\u00a0 You\u2019re just so amazing.\u00a0 You\u2019re so strong when your husband did that, when your kids respond that way, when your house burned down.\u201d\u00a0 Then, people will see us\u2014they will see broken vessels.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThey\u2019ll see people who cry, people who are hurt; but when we affirm these things, what they\u2019ll see through our cracks, they\u2019ll see the glory of God radiating through.\u00a0 They\u2019ll say, \u201cThey\u2019re clinging to something I don\u2019t have.\u00a0 There\u2019s a love that they have that I don\u2019t know.\u00a0 There\u2019s something that they\u2019re experiencing that\u2019s satisfying them that I can\u2019t even understand.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tGod will put us through trials just to put Himself on display\u2014that He\u2019s enough.\u00a0 He is more than enough.\u00a0 If you know that, and you\u2019ve tasted and seen that God is good, then, we\u2019re blessed.\u00a0 God bless you.\u00a0 Let\u2019s pray together.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<em>Father, I thank You for Your Word.<\/em><em>\u00a0 <\/em><em>I thank you for\u2014that everything in Psalm 63 is true\u2014that we\u2019re not clinging to a fairytale or make-believe; but, \u201cGod, You do love us.\u201d<\/em><em>\u00a0 <\/em><em>We can experience it sometimes clearest through our darkness nights and our most difficult trials.<\/em><em>\u00a0 <\/em>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<em>\u00a0<\/em>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<em>So, I pray if there is someone here, and it\u2019s just hard\u2014I pray, God, that You would help them.<\/em><em>\u00a0 <\/em><em>If there is someone here who has a loved one or friend and they are going through something hard\u2014help them Lord.<\/em><em>\u00a0 <\/em><em>Encourage them with the truths of Psalm 63.<\/em><em>\u00a0 <\/em>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<em>\u00a0<\/em>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<em>I pray for all of us, God, that You would help us rejoice that You saved us, You delivered us, You rescued us, and You always will through every storm, through every trial.<\/em><em>\u00a0 <\/em><em>In Christ\u2019s name I pray.<\/em><em>\u00a0 <\/em><em>Amen.<\/em><em>\u00a0 <\/em>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 [end of recorded message]\u00a0 Well, we\u2019ve been listening again to Pastor Bobby Scott today, speaking from Psalm 63.\u00a0 This can be a difficult season of the year for a lot of folks who find themselves in hard settings.\u00a0 It may be that you don\u2019t have as much money this year as you had last year.\u00a0 It may be that a loved one is gone.\u00a0 There can be all kinds of situations that families find themselves in; and we have to remember that God is faithful in the storms, just as He is faithful when the sun is shining.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 As Bobby was talking, Bob, I was reflecting back on Proverbs, Chapter 30, second half of verse eight and nine.\u00a0 It says, \u201cGive me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is needful for me,\/Lest I be full and deny You and say, \u2018Where is the Lord?\u2019\u00a0 Or lest I be poor and steal,\/And profane the name of my God.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIf you look at that passage, it\u2019s really talking about what Bobby said in the two parts of his sermon.\u00a0 In life, there is loss and gain.\u00a0 The author of Proverbs was talking about, \u201cDon\u2019t let me lose so much or be so poor that I end up stealing and bring dishonor to God\u2019s name; nor let me be so wealthy and so full, that I deny God and live like an atheist.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThink of America, in these days, boy, there is both today.\u00a0 We are a nation of plenty.\u00a0 We are also a nation of those who are suffering with poverty\u2014they\u2019ve lost jobs, health, other issues in their family, as you\u2019ve mentioned, Bob.\u00a0 I think the message that Bobby gives us today is, \u201cWhere is God in your life in the midst of this?\u00a0 Is He preeminent?\u00a0 Are you yielding and surrendering to Him?\u00a0 Are you giving Him the glory?\u00a0 Are you determined to follow Him regardless?\u00a0 Or are you going to deny God or dishonor God?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Bobby talked about our need to have our relationship with God re-established or reconnected through the ministry of Jesus Christ through what Christ did.\u00a0 Mankind rebelled against God in the beginning in the Garden.\u00a0 All of us have had that as our legacy that has been left to us.\u00a0 God sent Christ in order to redeem us and reconcile us to Himself.\u00a0 The way we have a relationship with God is by trusting in the work that His Son did.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIn fact, all of that is spelled out in a book that we would love to send to you\u2014a book called <em>Pursuing God<\/em>.\u00a0 If you\u2019re not a Christian, you\u2019ve never understood what the Bible is all about, what the Gospel is all about, call us and get a copy of this book;
