Paw Paw.\u00a0\u00a0 Whatever.\u00a0 Doesn\u2019t matter.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Chuck Swindoll is Paw become grandparents, we become an aunt or an uncle, and honestly we\u2019ve not given it near the amount of thought from a generational standpoint that we should have given it.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 It\u2019s a part-time job; it\u2019s not a full-time job, right?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 No, and honestly, when we become parents we don\u2019t do a lot of thinking about \u201cHow can we help the grandparents do what they\u2019re supposed to do?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSometimes it\u2019s real easy, I think, as children when you start having your own to critique your parents and go, \u201cWell, they don\u2019t come see us as often as they ought,\u201d or \u201cThey don\u2019t offer to babysit,\u201d or you fill in the blank.\u00a0 As a result, I think you get a generation that kind of gets separated from another and I don\u2019t think that\u2019s what the Bible teaches.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, can I tell you the best Mother\u2019s Day present I ever gave my wife?\u00a0 I gave Mary Ann last Mother\u2019s Day a webcam, and I hooked her up with Skype and the webcam and now our granddaughter points to the computer at her house and says, \u201cMimi . . .\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u201cMimi\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u201cMimi\u201d and so there\u2019s regular conversation going on between Mimi and Rosemary.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 She may think that Mimi is R2D2 or something.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 We\u2019ve wondered what\u2019s going to happen when she sees her in real back.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Thank you for having me.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 She has written a book as the Camp Director of Granny Camp.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 And I understand that there is at least a possibility that the Ph.D. is under review because of the creek incident.\u00a0 It might have to be revoked because of what happened at the creek.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oh, yes.\u00a0 The creek incident.\u00a0 Well, we live in a National Park, and there is a creek that goes through part of the park.\u00a0 When these children were really little, we had taken them there to wade in the water but they had forgotten about it.\u00a0 So about two years ago \u2013 and it\u2019s called \u201cThe Gorge\u201d because it\u2019s a gorge in the two mountains and it\u2019s deep, but it\u2019s beautiful \u2013 and it\u2019s just a running little creek.\u00a0 So we said, \u201cWell, let\u2019s go to the Gorge.\u201d\u00a0 They didn\u2019t know what that was, and we went down there and you kind of step down into it several feet.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is you and how many grandchildren?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is eleven grandchildren and Granddad and myself.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Ages?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Ages ten to six.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Do you have life jackets on?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 No, no, no, no.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s not that kind of creek, huh?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 I gave them a Granny Camp t-shirt every year at the end of camp for the closing ceremonies that we have, and it says, \u201cGranny Camp 2007\u201d or \u201cGranny Camp\u201d whatever.\u00a0 Well, I make them bring all those back so that when we go someplace we all are in the same color and I can find them in a group.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 So they were all in their Granny Camp shirts and their tennis shoes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Got it.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 So they went down to the creek and in a minute one hollers up and said, \u201cCan I take my shoes off?\u201d\u00a0 I said, \u201cNo, no, no.\u00a0 It might cut your feet and you all just go down there and walk from rock to rock.\u00a0 Just go down to the creek.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo they\u2019re down there for \u2013 not very long \u2013 and one of them hollers up, \u201cOh-h-h I got my feet wet!\u201d\u00a0 I said, \u201cYou know what?\u00a0 It probably wouldn\u2019t hurt to get your feet wet.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cOh.\u201d Stomp. Stomp. Stomp.\u00a0 They\u2019re all stomping in the water.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 How many boys out of this group?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Two boys and nine girls.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Bless their hearts.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 I know.\u00a0 They\u2019re the littlest ones.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019d be stomping through the creek, too.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 So they\u2019re stomping through the creek, and oh, my goodness, somebody fell into the water.\u00a0 And oh, they were so afraid to tell us.\u00a0\u00a0 So they called up, \u201cGrandmother, we fell in the water.\u201d\u00a0 I said, \u201cYou know what?\u00a0 Probably wouldn\u2019t hurt to get your clothes wet.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tDown in the water they went in their clothes and their shoes and they absolutely thought they\u2019d died and gone to heaven. It is their most favorite thing.\u00a0 Of course, one daddy said, \u201cOh! It\u2019s an accident about to happen!\u201d\u00a0 I said, \u201cHow many times did you do things like that that were accidents about to happen?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t(Laughter) \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cIt\u2019s okay!\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo we go to the Gorge every year now and we stomp in the water in our clothes and swim in our clothes and they just think . . .\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s a tradition.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 It is a tradition now.\u00a0 It\u2019s wonderful.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You have a critter cage, too, that is a part of the tradition?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, because we lived in town when we started Granny Camp and we got a critter cage.\u00a0 There are critters in every neighborhood, you know, that live out there in the woods or in places around \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You\u2019re not talking about neighbors?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 No, I didn\u2019t want any neighbors in the critter cage, although there are some neighbors I\u2019d like to catch.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t(laughter)\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 But you\u2019re talking about possums and raccoons\u00a0 . . .\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019m talking about real night-time critters \u2013 yeah, yeah.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Rabbits.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 So the children \u2013 these are the first campers that we had \u2013 they wanted to catch a raccoon, so I got the critter cage.\u00a0 I had a friend that had the critter cage and they got it and put it in the backyard with a hot dog in the back of it and set the trap and everything, put it by the window so you can watch it and see it when you first get up.\u00a0 Of course we got up very early to look outside to see what we had caught.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWell, we had caught a possum, and I had never seen a possum up close.\u00a0 I\u2019ve never seen an uglier \u2013 I\u2019m sorry, God, but that is an ugly animal.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know why he would create a possum, but he did.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Meaner than a junkyard bulldog, too, I\u2019m telling you.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oh, and I had to let it loose!\u00a0 Oh, it was terrible.\u00a0 So the next night we tried again for a raccoon.\u00a0 So we put the critter cage out with another hot dog and we caught another possum.\u00a0 Oh!\u00a0 So they made a sign and they put the sign on the side of the cage that said, \u201cRaccoons Only!\u201d\u00a0 It didn\u2019t work because we \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u201cNo vacancy\u201d for opossums!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 It didn\u2019t work because we caught an angry cat \u2013 somebody\u2019s cat we caught the next night.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t a happy cat.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 No-o-o!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Was not a happy cat.\u00a0 Oh, my gosh!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Did you ever get a raccoon?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 No.\u00a0 But we have raccoons that come up on our deck now and they rattle around and the kids get to see them, but we haven\u2019t caught one.\u00a0 But they\u2019re out there.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOne of Granddad\u2019s \u201cG\u2019s\u201d that we do is game-hunting, and that\u2019s we go in the car about dusk and we go look for deer, and we go look for big game, and that\u2019s when we see raccoons and squirrels and skunks and deer.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 So Granny Camp goes from splashing around in the Gorge, from the ridiculous to the sublime \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oh, yes, which is high tea.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You have your high tea moments. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes we do.\u00a0 We get out the good dishes and the good glasses and the good silverware.\u00a0 They dress up.\u00a0 You go to big department stores after Christmas in about January or February, and you buy their tacky dresses that nobody else bought for their children, so if your grandchild is a size six, you buy like an eight or a ten and then it\u2019s big.\u00a0 But it\u2019s not a grown-up thing, but it\u2019s a good dress-up thing.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Now are you trying to be tacky?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 No, but they are just dress-up kind of things.\u00a0 They are silky and satin and sparkly, and -- \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Flowy \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Flowy, and if you buy a size ten \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Got it.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 --for a six-year-old it\u2019s long, it drags the floor, and I have all kinds of old high heels and I go to garage sales and I buy picture hats, and so we have lots of big floppy picture hats.\u00a0 So we have high tea.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThey go down and they pick out their outfits, their purse and their high heels and their outfit and their hat, and they get all dressed up.\u00a0 The counselors do their makeup.\u00a0 Oh, yes, that\u2019s exciting.\u00a0 And then we have glamour shots with them in all these fancy things.\u00a0 And the little boys wear little coats \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 I was going to say, what are the little boys doing?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 They wear just a tie over their t-shirt of whatever and get looking a little bit better.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 They\u2019re ready in about three minutes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, but they\u2019re okay.\u00a0 They\u2019re okay.\u00a0 And we sit down at the table and we learn manners, and we learn how to put our napkin in our lap, and where the knife \u2013 \u201cleft\u201d is four letters, \u201cfork\u201d is four letters, so the fork goes on the left.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cRight\u201d is five letters and the \u201cknife\u201d and the \u201cspoon\u201d is five letters, and it goes on the right.\u00a0 That\u2019s the way you remember.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Wow!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Five and four.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 I wish somebody would have helped me with this you learn to bring your food to your mouth and not you to your food, and you have to sit like a lady or a gentleman.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 So there\u2019s a manners \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oh, we have a whole manners class at high tea.\u00a0 Yes, it\u2019s very, very nice.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Really.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 And while they\u2019re having high tea, then I read them a lovely story that has a good meaning or something \u2013 a little short story out loud while they are sitting being ladies.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And then after they have done high tea \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Uh \u2013 huh.\u00a0 They take off their shoes \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 They\u2019re ready to rumble and so you\u2019ve got Family Olympics.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 No.\u00a0 We do that later, but after high tea they kick off their shoes and we turn on the record player and we do the twist and the limbo and the Y-M-C-A and we dance.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You know, we gave you a Ph.D. earlier \u2013 I\u2019m going to confer on you the Jane Fonda \u2013 you need to do a DVD.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Jane Fonda?!?\u00a0 Isn\u2019t there somebody better than that that you could equate me to?\u00a0 everybody\u2019s on the road, what do you do?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 I take a <em>very<\/em> long nap.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t(Laughter)\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Like one year . . .\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 In 2003 when I first had the seven little girls who were seven to four-and-a-half, I called their parents who hadn\u2019t come to pick them up, telling them that the parents that had come to pick them up were on their way home and I walked in, closed the bedroom door, and I slept 17 hours.\u00a0 No lie.\u00a0 I got up, made some crackers, and went back to bed.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You can imagine.\u00a0 You can imagine being \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 I was exhausted.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Of course you were.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 But I had so much fun.\u00a0 And I love every minute of it.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 What about Family Olympics?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oh, Family Olympics.\u00a0 We decided to do that when we were all together and you can have three-year-olds that are in the Olympics.\u00a0 We divide the teams up, can\u2019t be husband and wife on the same team, and divide them all up.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe just do egg tosses and potato rolls and one-legged races and whatever, and then we name our teams, we get a cheer.\u00a0 We do stupid things.\u00a0 We have relay races and a family event and just laugh and have fun.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Our kids push beans across a floor.\u00a0 You need to make sure the floor is \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Sort of clean.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, that, but also there\u2019s the issue of hardwood versus carpet.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Because we did this with our kids and they got carpet burn on their noses from pushing the beans.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oh, yes, yes.\u00a0 We\u2019ve done that too.\u00a0 But you have to not have teenage boys that will cheat, because the day that we did the egg toss, you know, and you toss it to your team member back and forth \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 We found out that our teenage boys had put extra eggs in their pockets so that they had a different egg to start with so that they could keep winning.\u00a0 I said, \u201cOh, now, we don\u2019t cheat at Granny Camp.\u00a0 That\u2019s one thing we don\u2019t do.\u201d\u00a0 I learned that after the fact.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Your youngest camper right now is eight years old.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Seven, yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 We wouldn\u2019t imagine this would be the case, but it\u2019s at least a possibility that you might have to call an end to Granny Camp \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 One of these days.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 -- before the seven-year-old graduates out of the program.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, it\u2019s possible.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Have you thought about that?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019ve thought about that, and I think that when we have \u2013 the last little ones that are there \u2013 there\u2019s a ten-year-old girl and then these two eight-year-old little boys\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tthat we can have just the boys come and build forts in the woods and catch bugs and, you know, catch snakes if they\u2019d rather or whatever they want to do, and just come and play.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat\u2019s okay for your grandchildren to do, but just know that when they come, you\u2019re not going to be doing ten other things.\u00a0 This is their time with you, and you\u2019re going to spend that time concentrating on them, giving them the love they need, passing on your traditions, whatever it is.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI have four that are coming this year that are thirteen that we\u2019re going to sew.\u00a0 I\u2019m going to teach them how to do needlepoint, how to do counted cross stitch, how to bead, how to do things that I know how to do, that their mothers don\u2019t do.\u00a0 We\u2019re going to hem a dress, we\u2019re going to sew on a button, we\u2019re going to do things like that.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s just being with them and teaching them things that are helpful to them and giving them a value system that you\u2019ve had.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Have you stopped to think about your oldest grandchild, an eighteen-year-old, right?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 She\u2019s a young lady.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, she\u2019s getting ready to go to college.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 How do you think she is different because of her years of coming to Granny Camp?\u00a0 What mark do you think maybe Granny Camp has left on her?\u00a0 Is it just happy memories from her childhood, or do you think it\u2019s more than that?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, I don\u2019t know that I\u2019ve ever asked her the question, \u201cWhat have you learned from Granny Camp?\u201d but I know that she has a very special relationship with my husband and myself.\u00a0 To me, that is very important.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tShe is a very God-loving young lady.\u00a0 She\u2019s a good girl.\u00a0 She\u2019s stayed a good girl, and whether we had any impact on that, I don\u2019t know, but I just know that we\u2019re proud that we could be part of her life and that she\u2019s part of ours.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 We\u2019ve had a lot of fun doing this series of broadcasts with you, Ann.\u00a0 You\u2019ve done a great job doing it.\u00a0 Not everybody who is listening, however, as grandparents or as parents, has a great relationship with their counterpart.\u00a0 In other words, they may not get along with their parents who are the grandparents of their kids.\u00a0 Do you have any advice or counsel?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m thinking right now of a couple that I know \u2013 they have three or four children, and they\u2019re kind of in a tense situation where in some cases the grandkids are off limits, and it\u2019s kind of hard to do something like this if you don\u2019t feel welcome.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 The parents won\u2019t let the grandparents have any part of the grandchildren\u2019s lives?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 That happens.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 The only thing I could say is that you just never stop loving them and letting them know in little ways that you love them.\u00a0 Send them cards, e-mail them, touch their lives somehow.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t have to be expensive, whatever you do, but try to go through that barrier in a very non-threatening way to the parents, but in a way to let those children know that you love them and that you really want to be with them if that\u2019s at all possible.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou don\u2019t want to drive that wedge any farther, and you certainly don\u2019t want to make the relationship between the parents and the children \u2013 you certainly don\u2019t want to damage that in any way.\u00a0 But, that\u2019s a very sad thing, because grandparents have a perspective that they can give to children that is not like any other.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 And if we\u2019re talking to somebody here who is in an estranged relationship with their parents or perhaps with their adult children as they are raising their children, our encouragement at this point would be to find a way?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Find a way and just pray about it, because God can change hearts in a big way.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 He really can.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 All we have to do is ask.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And along that point, just around difficult situations.\u00a0 In all your years of doing this, have you ever done something where you may \u2013 we kind of laughed about this a bit earlier, where you were kind of pressing the limits that maybe parents had \u2013 did you ever press a limit and go too far and offend one of your adult children?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, I don\u2019t know that I actually offended her, but I know that at the end of camp she came to me and she said, \u201cWould you talk to my daughters\u201d \u2013 there were two of them \u2013 \u201cWould you talk to my daughters and tell them that now that they\u2019re back with their mother and dad that they have to mind us and can\u2019t have the freedoms that they had at Granny Camp?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t(Laughter)\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI said, \u201cI\u2019d be glad to do that.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut I guess, you know, I do \u2013 I don\u2019t treat them as adults \u2013 but I do give them a little more freedom than they have with their parents, if they mind my rules, which they know at the very beginning.\u00a0 They can recite the rules now, they know them so well.\u00a0 But if they do what they\u2019re told and they really come when they\u2019re called, clean their plate, whatever \u2013 if they\u2019ll do those things we get along just famously.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 If they break Granny\u2019s rules, what happens?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Time out.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Or, you know, if you don\u2019t clean your plate, then you sit there until you do.\u00a0 But then I started a new rule two years ago.\u00a0 It was opt out.\u00a0 Oh, they thought they\u2019d died and gone to heaven.\u00a0 They could opt out of one thing on their plate, and if it was the green beans, they could opt out of, or if it was the macaroni and cheese, they could opt out on, and it worked.\u00a0 They\u2019d opt out of something they didn\u2019t like and they ate everything else.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 They were happy.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 They were happy.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 So when you had the dinner that had the chocolate ice cream \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 We didn\u2019t opt out of anything.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 The chocolate pie.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Nobody\u2019s opting out of that.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 They didn\u2019t opt.\u00a0 They truly thought they had died and gone to heaven.\u00a0 One of them said, \u201cI\u2019m going to tell my mother about this.\u201d\u00a0 I said, \u201cYou\u2019d better not.\u00a0 She might not let you come back.\u201d\u00a0 But she did.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You know, we have described kind of an ideal grandparent \u2013 grandchild relationship.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 It is.\u00a0 It\u2019s wonderful.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 And yet at the same time, as you\u2019ve said, there are situations that are less than ideal.\u00a0 There are parents who wish they could have this kind of relationship with grandma and grandpa, but for one reason or another grandma and grandpa have violated a trust or created an issue.\u00a0 You really have to engage with wisdom and compassion \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Absolutely.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> -- and kindness in those situations but you have to be wise, too, don\u2019t you?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 And there are a lot of grandparents that could not handle their grandchildren for a week.\u00a0 I have a lot of friends who just say, \u201cI couldn\u2019t stand my grandchildren for a week.\u201d\u00a0 I say, \u201cWell then, don\u2019t do it.\u00a0 Just do it for a day.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut just let your grandchildren have your undivided attention for two hours, a day, two days, whatever you can do, but encourage that relationship, because it\u2019s very, very special.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 If you do find yourself in one of those situations where, again, there are some things that aren\u2019t right, I think your words about praying \u2013 that\u2019s the first place to start \u2013 and then I think secondly, pursue with love.\u00a0 I Corinthians 13 just talks about the pre-eminence of love, and how love bears all things, believes all things, endures all things, and as followers of Jesus Christ, we need to represent him.\u00a0 And as grandparents \u2013 I can just speak from a grandparent\u2019s standpoint \u2013 we need to take the high road.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Absolutely.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 We don\u2019t need to become an elderly, gripe-y, complaining, fault-finding grandparent, because you can always find something about the next generation that they\u2019re doing that you don\u2019t like.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s right, but just ignore it.\u00a0 Move on.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 My book is all about love.\u00a0 That\u2019s what it\u2019s for, that\u2019s what it\u2019s to help grandparents do, is to give love.\u00a0 But it\u2019s a how-to book, it\u2019s what they eat, what games they play, what you\u2019re supposed to do as a camp director to help you get through this time with your children;\u00a0 it\u2019s a little manual \u2013 a how-to manual \u2013 on how to love your grandchildren.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 I just want the dessert dinner how-to.\u00a0 Is that in there so I can --?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 I just wanted to make become grandparents, we become an aunt or an uncle, and honestly we\u2019ve not given it near the amount of thought from a generational standpoint that we should have given it.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 It\u2019s a part-time job; it\u2019s not a full-time job, right?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 No, and honestly, when we become parents we don\u2019t do a lot of thinking about \u201cHow can we help the grandparents do what they\u2019re supposed to do?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSometimes it\u2019s real easy, I think, as children when you start having your own to critique your parents and go, \u201cWell, they don\u2019t come see us as often as they ought,\u201d or \u201cThey don\u2019t offer to babysit,\u201d or you fill in the blank.\u00a0 As a result, I think you get a generation that kind of gets separated from another and I don\u2019t think that\u2019s what the Bible teaches.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, can I tell you the best Mother\u2019s Day present I ever gave my wife?\u00a0 I gave Mary Ann last Mother\u2019s Day a webcam, and I hooked her up with Skype and the webcam and now our granddaughter points to the computer at her house and says, \u201cMimi . . .\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u201cMimi\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u201cMimi\u201d and so Director of Granny Camp.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 And I understand that there is at least a possibility that the Ph.D. is under review because of the creek incident.\u00a0 It might have to be revoked because of what happened at the creek.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oh, yes.\u00a0 The creek incident.\u00a0 Well, we live in a National Park, and there is a creek that goes through part of the park.\u00a0 When these children were really little, we had taken them there to wade in the water but they had forgotten about it.\u00a0 So about two years ago \u2013 and it\u2019s called \u201cThe Gorge\u201d because it\u2019s a gorge in the two mountains and it\u2019s deep, but it\u2019s beautiful \u2013 and it\u2019s just a running little creek.\u00a0 So we said, \u201cWell, let\u2019s go to the Gorge.\u201d\u00a0 They didn\u2019t know what that was, and we went down there and you kind of step down into it several feet.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is you and how many grandchildren?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is eleven grandchildren and Granddad and myself.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Ages?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Ages ten to t-shirt every year at the end of camp for the closing ceremonies that we have, and it says, \u201cGranny Camp 2007\u201d or \u201cGranny Camp\u201d whatever.\u00a0 Well, I make them bring all those back so that when we go someplace we all are in the same color and I can find them in a group.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 So they were all in their Granny Camp shirts and their tennis shoes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Got it.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 So they went down to the creek and in a minute one hollers Stomp.\u00a0 They\u2019re all stomping in the water.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 How many boys out of this group?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Two boys and nine girls.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Bless their hearts.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 I know.\u00a0 They\u2019re the littlest ones.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019d be stomping through the creek, too.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 So they\u2019re stomping through the creek, and oh, my goodness, somebody fell into the water.\u00a0 And oh, they were so afraid to tell us.\u00a0\u00a0 So they called up, \u201cGrandmother, we fell in the water.\u201d\u00a0 I said, \u201cYou know what?\u00a0 Probably wouldn\u2019t hurt to get your clothes wet.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tDown in the water they went in their clothes and their shoes and they absolutely thought they\u2019d died and gone to heaven. It is their most favorite thing.\u00a0 Of course, one daddy said, \u201cOh! It\u2019s an accident about to happen!\u201d\u00a0 I said, \u201cHow many times did you do things like that that were accidents about to happen?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t(Laughter) \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cIt\u2019s okay!\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo we go to the Gorge every year now and we stomp in the water in our clothes and swim in our clothes and they just think . . .\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s a tradition.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 It is a tradition now.\u00a0 It\u2019s wonderful.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You have a critter cage, too, that is a part of the tradition?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, because we lived in town when we started Granny Camp and we got a critter cage.\u00a0 There are critters in every neighborhood, you know, that live out there in the woods or in places around \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 You\u2019re not talking about neighbors?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 No, I didn\u2019t want any neighbors in the critter cage, although there are some neighbors I\u2019d like to catch.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t(laughter)\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 But you\u2019re talking about possums and raccoons\u00a0 . . .\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019m talking about real night-time critters \u2013 yeah, yeah.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Rabbits.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 So the children \u2013 these are the first campers that we had \u2013 they wanted to catch a raccoon, so I got the critter cage.\u00a0 I had a friend that had the critter cage and they got it and put it in the backyard with a hot dog in the back of it and set the trap and everything, put it by the window so you can watch it and see it when you first get up.\u00a0 Of course we got up very early to look outside to see what we had caught.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWell, we had caught a possum, and I had never seen a possum up close.\u00a0 I\u2019ve never seen an uglier \u2013 I\u2019m sorry, God, but that is an ugly animal.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know why he would create a possum, but he did.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Meaner than a junkyard bulldog, too, I\u2019m telling you.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oh, and I had to let it loose!\u00a0 Oh, it was terrible.\u00a0 So the next night we tried again for a raccoon.\u00a0 So we put the critter cage out with another hot dog and we caught another possum.\u00a0 Oh!\u00a0 So they made a sign and they put the sign on the side of the cage that said, \u201cRaccoons Only!\u201d\u00a0 It didn\u2019t work because we \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u201cNo vacancy\u201d for opossums!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 It didn\u2019t work because we caught an angry cat \u2013 somebody\u2019s cat we caught the next night.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t a happy cat.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 No-o-o!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Was not a happy cat.\u00a0 Oh, my gosh!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Did you ever get a raccoon?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 No.\u00a0 But we have raccoons that come up on our deck now and they rattle around and the kids get to see them, but we haven\u2019t caught one.\u00a0 But they\u2019re out there.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOne of Granddad\u2019s \u201cG\u2019s\u201d that we do is game-hunting, and that\u2019s we go in the car about dusk and we go look for deer, and we go look for big game, and that\u2019s when we see raccoons and squirrels and skunks and deer.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 So Granny Camp goes from splashing around in the Gorge, from the ridiculous to the sublime \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oh, yes, which is high tea.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You have your high tea moments. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes we do.\u00a0 We get out the good dishes and the good glasses and the good silverware.\u00a0 They dress up.\u00a0 You go to big department stores after Christmas in about January or February, and you buy their tacky dresses that nobody else bought for their children, so if your grandchild is a size six, you buy like an eight or a ten and then it\u2019s big.\u00a0 But it\u2019s not a grown-up thing, but it\u2019s a good dress-up thing.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Now are you trying to be tacky?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 No, but they are just dress-up kind of things.\u00a0 They are silky and satin and sparkly, and -- \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Flowy \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Flowy, and if you buy a size ten \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Got it.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 --for a six-year-old it\u2019s long, it drags the floor, and I have all kinds of old high heels and I go to garage sales and I buy picture hats, and so we have lots of big floppy picture hats.\u00a0 So we have high tea.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThey go down and they pick out their outfits, their purse and their high heels and their outfit and their hat, and they get all dressed up.\u00a0 The counselors do their makeup.\u00a0 Oh, yes, that\u2019s exciting.\u00a0 And then we have glamour shots with them in all these fancy things.\u00a0 And the little boys wear little coats \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 I was going to say, what are the little boys doing?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 They wear just a tie over their t-shirt of whatever and get looking a little bit better.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 They\u2019re ready in about three minutes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, but they\u2019re okay.\u00a0 They\u2019re okay.\u00a0 And we sit down at the table and we learn manners, and we learn how to put our napkin in our lap, and where the knife \u2013 \u201cleft\u201d is four letters, \u201cfork\u201d is four letters, so the fork goes on the left.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cRight\u201d is five letters and the \u201cknife\u201d and the \u201cspoon\u201d is five letters, and it goes on the right.\u00a0 That\u2019s the way you remember.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Wow!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Five and lovely story that has a good meaning or something \u2013 a little short story out loud while they are sitting being ladies.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And then after they have done high tea \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Uh \u2013 huh.\u00a0 They take off their shoes \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 They\u2019re ready to rumble and so you\u2019ve got Family when I first had the seven little girls who were seven to four-and-a-half, I called their parents who hadn\u2019t come to pick them up, telling them that the parents that had come to pick them up were on their way home and I walked in, closed the bedroom door, and I slept 17 hours.\u00a0 No lie.\u00a0 I got up, made some crackers, and went back to bed.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You can imagine.\u00a0 You can imagine being \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 I was exhausted.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Of course you were.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 But I had so much fun.\u00a0 And I love every minute of it.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 What about Family Olympics?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oh, Family Olympics.\u00a0 We decided to do that when we were all together and you can have three-year-olds that are in the Olympics.\u00a0 We divide the teams up, can\u2019t be husband and wife on the same team, and divide them all up.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe just do egg tosses and potato rolls and one-legged races and whatever, and then we name our teams, we get a cheer.\u00a0 We do stupid things.\u00a0 We have relay races and a family event and just laugh and have fun.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Our kids push beans across a floor.\u00a0 You need to make sure the floor is \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Sort of clean.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, that, but also there\u2019s the issue of hardwood versus carpet.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Because we did this with our kids and they got carpet burn on their noses from pushing the beans.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oh, yes, yes.\u00a0 We\u2019ve done that too.\u00a0 But you have to not have teenage boys that will cheat, because the day that we did the egg toss, you know, and you toss it to your team member back and forth \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 We found out that our teenage boys had put extra eggs in their pockets so that they had a different egg to start with so that they could keep winning.\u00a0 I said, \u201cOh, now, we don\u2019t cheat at Granny Camp.\u00a0 That\u2019s one thing we don\u2019t do.\u201d\u00a0 I learned that after the fact.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Your youngest camper right now is eight years old.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Seven, yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 We wouldn\u2019t imagine this would be the case, but it\u2019s at least a possibility that you might have to call an end to Granny Camp \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 One of these days.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 -- before the seven-year-old graduates out of the program.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, it\u2019s possible.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Have you thought about that?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019ve thought about that, and I think that when we have \u2013 the last little ones that are there \u2013 there\u2019s a ten-year-old girl and then these two eight-year-old little boys\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tthat we can have just the boys come and build forts in the woods and catch bugs and, you know, catch snakes if they\u2019d rather or whatever they want to do, and just come and play.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThat\u2019s okay for your grandchildren to do, but just know that when they come, you\u2019re not going to be doing ten other things.\u00a0 This is their time with you, and you\u2019re going to spend that time concentrating on them, giving them the love they need, passing on your traditions, whatever it is.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI have four that are coming this year that are thirteen that we\u2019re going to sew.\u00a0 I\u2019m going to teach them how to do needlepoint, how to do counted cross stitch, how to bead, how to do things that I know how to do, that their mothers don\u2019t do.\u00a0 We\u2019re going to hem a dress, we\u2019re going to sew on a button, we\u2019re going to do things like that.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tIt\u2019s just being with them and teaching them things that are helpful to them and giving them a value system that you\u2019ve had.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Have you stopped to think about your oldest grandchild, an eighteen-year-old, is different because of her years of coming to Granny Camp?\u00a0 What mark do you think maybe Granny Camp has left on her?\u00a0 Is it just happy memories from her childhood, or do you think it\u2019s more than that?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, I don\u2019t know that I\u2019ve ever asked her the question, \u201cWhat have you learned from Granny Camp?\u201d but I know that she has a very special relationship with my husband and myself.\u00a0 To me, that is very important.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tShe is a very God-loving young lady.\u00a0 She\u2019s a good girl.\u00a0 She\u2019s stayed a good girl, and whether we had any impact on that, I don\u2019t know, but I just know that we\u2019re proud that we could be part of her life and that she\u2019s part of ours.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 We\u2019ve had a lot of fun doing this series of broadcasts with you, Ann.\u00a0 You\u2019ve done a great job doing it.\u00a0 Not everybody who is listening, however, as grandparents or as parents, has a great relationship with their counterpart.\u00a0 In other words, they may not get along with their parents who are the grandparents of their kids.\u00a0 Do you have any advice or counsel?\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI\u2019m thinking right now of a couple that I know \u2013 they have three or four children, and they\u2019re kind of in a tense situation where in some cases the grandkids are off limits, and it\u2019s kind of hard to do something like this if you don\u2019t feel welcome.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 The parents won\u2019t let the grandparents have any part of the grandchildren\u2019s lives?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 That happens.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 The only thing I could say is that you just never stop loving them and letting them know in little ways that you love them.\u00a0 Send them cards, e-mail them, touch their lives somehow.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t have to be expensive, whatever you do, but try to go through that barrier in a very non-threatening way to the parents, but in a way to let those children know that you love them and that you really want to be with them if that\u2019s at all possible.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou don\u2019t want to drive that wedge any farther, and you certainly don\u2019t want to make the relationship between the parents and the children \u2013 you certainly don\u2019t want to damage that in any way.\u00a0 But, that\u2019s a very sad thing, because grandparents have a perspective that they can give to children that is not like any other.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 And if we\u2019re talking to somebody here who is in an estranged relationship with their parents or perhaps with their adult children as they are raising their children, our encouragement at this point would be to find a way?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Find a way and just pray about it, because God can change hearts in a big way.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 He really can.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 All we have to do is ask.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 And along that point, just around difficult situations.\u00a0 In all your years of doing this, have you ever done something where you may \u2013 we kind of laughed about this a bit earlier, where you were kind of pressing the limits that maybe parents had \u2013 did you ever press a limit and go too far and offend one of your adult children?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, I don\u2019t know that I actually offended her, but I know that at the end of camp she came to me and she said, \u201cWould you talk to my daughters\u201d \u2013 there were two of them \u2013 \u201cWould you talk to my daughters and tell them that now that they\u2019re back with their mother and dad that they have to mind us and can\u2019t have the freedoms that they had at Granny Camp?\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t(Laughter)\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI said, \u201cI\u2019d be glad to do that.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut I guess, you know, I do \u2013 I don\u2019t treat them as adults \u2013 but I do give them a little more freedom than they have with their parents, if they mind my rules, which they know at the very beginning.\u00a0 They can recite the rules now, they know them so well.\u00a0 But if they do what they\u2019re told and they really come when they\u2019re called, clean their plate, whatever \u2013 if they\u2019ll do those things we get along just famously.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 If they break Granny\u2019s rules, what happens?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Time out.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Or, you know, if you don\u2019t clean your plate, then you sit there until you do.\u00a0 But then I started a new rule two years ago.\u00a0 It was opt out.\u00a0 Oh, they thought they\u2019d died and gone to heaven.\u00a0 They could opt out of one thing on their plate, and if it was the green beans, they could opt out of, or if it was the macaroni and cheese, they could opt out on, and it worked.\u00a0 They\u2019d opt out of something they didn\u2019t like and they ate everything else.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 They were happy.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 They were happy.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 So when you had the dinner that had the chocolate ice cream \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 We didn\u2019t opt out of anything.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 The chocolate pie.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Nobody\u2019s opting out of that.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 They didn\u2019t opt.\u00a0 They truly thought they had died and gone to heaven.\u00a0 One of them said, \u201cI\u2019m going to tell my mother about this.\u201d\u00a0 I said, \u201cYou\u2019d better not.\u00a0 She might not let you come back.\u201d\u00a0 But she did.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 You know, we have described kind of an ideal grandparent \u2013 grandchild relationship.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 It is.\u00a0 It\u2019s wonderful.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 And yet at the same time, as you\u2019ve said, there are situations that are less than ideal.\u00a0 There are parents who wish they could have this kind of relationship with grandma and grandpa, but for one reason or another grandma and grandpa have violated a trust or created an issue.\u00a0 You really have to engage with wisdom and compassion \u2013\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Absolutely.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> -- and kindness in those situations but you have to be wise, too, don\u2019t you?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 And there are a lot of grandparents that could not handle their grandchildren for a week.\u00a0 I have a lot of friends who just say, \u201cI couldn\u2019t stand my grandchildren for a week.\u201d\u00a0 I say, \u201cWell then, don\u2019t do it.\u00a0 Just do it for a day.\u201d\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut just let your grandchildren have your undivided attention for two hours, a day, two days, whatever you can do, but encourage that relationship, because it\u2019s very, very special.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 If you do find yourself in one of those situations where, again, there are some things that aren\u2019t right, I think your words about praying \u2013 that\u2019s the first place to start \u2013 and then I think secondly, pursue with love.\u00a0 I Corinthians 13 just talks about the pre-eminence of love, and how love bears all things, believes all things, endures all things, and as followers of Jesus Christ, we need to represent him.\u00a0 And as grandparents \u2013 I can just speak from a grandparent\u2019s standpoint \u2013 we need to take the high road.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Absolutely.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 We don\u2019t need to become an elderly, gripe-y, complaining, fault-finding grandparent, because you can always find something about the next generation that they\u2019re doing that you don\u2019t like.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 That\u2019s right, but just ignore it.\u00a0 Move on.\u00a0 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 My book is all about love.\u00a0 That\u2019s what it\u2019s for, that\u2019s what it\u2019s to help grandparents do, is to give love.\u00a0 But it\u2019s a how-to book, it\u2019s what they eat, what games they play, what you\u2019re supposed to do as a camp director to help you get through this time with your children;\u00a0 it\u2019s a little manual \u2013 a how-to manual \u2013 on how to love your grandchildren.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 I just want the dessert dinner how-to.\u00a0 Is that in there so I can --?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong>\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 I just wanted to make sure.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Ann:<\/strong>\u00a0 And there\u2019s a picture.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, Doctor Granny, I just want to
