We should be, first of all, expressing our joy, and our gratitude, and our worship that God would do this for us; but secondly, we want people to know that we belong to the King of kings\u2014we belong to Jesus, and He\u2019s alive!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> This is <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em> for Tuesday, March 20<sup>th<\/sup>. Our host is Dennis Rainey; I'm Bob Lepine. So, what plans do you have for your Easter celebration next week?\u2014or maybe you haven\u2019t even thought about that yet. Well, we\u2019ve got some ideas for you today. Stay with us.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>1:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd welcome to <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>. Thanks for joining us on the Tuesday edition. I got to spend part of your Easter holiday with you last year. Do you remember?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> You did. I do remember.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> It was quite a day!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> It was.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Well, Bob, you actually\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> I was the instigator.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> You <em>were <\/em>the instigator. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> You were, but you actually helped a <em>dream<\/em> of Barbara\u2019s to come true. I just want to hold my head\u2014I confess to the listening audience\u2014yours truly, as Barbara\u2019s husband, who loves her dearly\u2014had not been able to execute on this. I just didn\u2019t have the faith that I could pull it off. We had a lot going on last Easter\u2014well, why don\u2019t you explain to the audience what you came to me and asked me to do?\u2014because I want all of you guys, who are listening to the broadcast\u2014picture your wife coming to you and asking for this. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>2:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, I want you to tell them the truth, Barbara\u2014what you really asked for\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> I can do that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014because it wasn\u2019t a small, little get-together you were talking about. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Well, I have, for the last couple of years, started thinking about Easter the following year, right after Easter in the present year. Two years ago, after Easter of 2016, I started thinking about Easter 2017. It was fresh on my mind, and I remember thinking\u2014one day, I woke up and I thought: \u201cOh, if I could do anything\u2014if money was not an objection \/ if time was not an objection\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Underline the word, \u201cmoney.\u201d [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> \u2014 \u201cif I could do anything I wanted to do\u2014I would create an amazing party to celebrate the resurrection.\u201d I was, again, reminded that we don\u2019t do enough to celebrate the victory over the cross\u2014that Jesus rose from the dead and has opened the way to heaven for us. We go to church, and we might dress a little differently; we might sing a few other songs, but we really don\u2019t do a whole lot, as believers. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>3:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI thought: \u201cI want to change that! I want to do something different.\u201d Sometime, around June, I started thinking, \u201cIf I could do anything that I wanted to do\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> That\u2019s a dangerous thought! \u201cIf I could do <em>anything\u2026\u201d <\/em>[Laughter] My wife is a creative\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u201cMoney is no object!\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> That\u2019s exactly right!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u201cTime is no object!\u201d\u2014yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Okay; so go on.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> What would it be?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> I wanted to have a church-wide celebration. I wanted to get our church to plan ahead. We rented a field that\u2014you know, obviously\u2014would be for anyone who wanted to come. But I imagined me stringing lights all over the place, having some music group from the church come and play music. I wanted to cater a meal. I wanted to have families come and bring their kids and have singing, and dancing, and fireworks at the end\u2014to have some kind of an amazing public demonstration of: \u201cThis is a group of believers, who are serious about the resurrection, and we want the world to know that this is a really big deal for us.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>4:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> I\u2019m surprised you didn\u2019t just throw in there, \u201cAnd let\u2019s do it in Jerusalem.\u201d [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Oh, I didn\u2019t even think about that!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> So she comes to you and says, \u201cHey, could we do this?\u201d\u2014is that how it happened?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> It did!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And I took a deep breath. I was listening; and I was going: \u201cGod bless you, Sweetheart! [Laughter] I love you. I\u2019ve tried to help you achieve every dream you\u2019ve had, and I would <em>love <\/em>to try to help you accomplish this; but I don\u2019t own a stadium and I\u2019m not a banker.\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> You know, now, what you ask. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> I know, I know; and I knew I didn\u2019t.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> I\u2019m enough of an executor\u2014and I\u2019m going\u2014I\u2019m starting to think, \u201cWhat would be the logistics here?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> See! You\u2019re enough of an executor, and I\u2019m just enough of a dreamer\u2014that I hadn\u2019t thought through the costs, or time, or, you know, all of that stuff.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> So, in the meantime, I came in to save the day.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes; so a couple of months later\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Now, wait!! [Laughter] Wait just a second! [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>5:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Actually, I came in with a completely different idea.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> You did.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> You really did; you really did.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> And I had given this idea to the Lord. After we had our little conversation, I said: \u201cOkay; God, I would love to do this\u2014You know I would. If it can happen, great!\u2014but I\u2019m willing to let it go too.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> I just thought it through. Now, here\u2019s the point\u2014I thought all of it through; and I thought, \u201cSweetheart, I would love to do this\u2014I really would; but to execute that, you really need a team of people\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014\u201cto pull this off.\u201d Easter occurs in the spring, when we\u2019re holding dozens of <em>Weekend to Remember<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup> marriage getaways all over the country, so I couldn\u2019t pull the FamilyLife<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> team aside. So I had to say, \u201cNo.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> So it really was a dream that died for Barbara.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And then, we sat down and started working on the video series that we\u2019re releasing, here, in a few weeks, called <em>The Art of Parenting<\/em><sup>\u2122<\/sup><em>.<\/em> We started mapping out: \u201cWhat are the parenting principles that we want to teach? What are the ideas that need to be communicated? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>6:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cWhat will each session look like? Who are the people who are going to be the contributors to this session?\u201d I mean, we had\u2014it was a big project to put all of this together!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And it was a video project\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014okay? So, all of a sudden, Bob becomes the hero; and I\u2019m the goat!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Well, but\u2014yes; but he first came and asked you, \u201cCould I fly in your family and could we stage a Thanksgiving feast?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> The thought was that the conclusion of this series needs to paint a picture for folks that there\u2019s a pay-off in parenting.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And the pay-off is that your kids grow up, and they have grandkids, and the family becomes what your family has become.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014a<em> lot <\/em>of people! [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> We didn\u2019t want an idealized picture, but we did want an aspirational one.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> We wanted to say, \u201cYou know, parenting is hard work; and in the day to day, you\u2019re going, \u2018Man, is this really worth it?\u2019\u201d So we wanted something to say, \u201cIt\u2019s worth it.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> \u201cIt\u2019s worth it\u201d\u2014yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>7:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And so, I came and said\u2014knowing that Thanksgiving has always been a favorite holiday of yours\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> It has.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u2014I said: \u201cLet\u2019s get the kids here and we\u2019ll stage a mock Thanksgiving.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u201cWe\u2019ll just have the whole family, and we\u2019ll film your family coming home for Thanksgiving.\u201d And you said, \u201cNo.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> I said: \u201cDoes it matter if it\u2019s Thanksgiving? Is that important to the script?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou said, \u201cWhy?\u201d And I said, \u201cCould we do Easter instead?\u201d [Laughter] And, kindly, Bob said: \u201cI don\u2019t know why not. We\u2019re going to film it in the spring.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> So there we were\u2014in fact, we looked at: \u201cWhat\u2019s the best time to do this? What\u2019s the best filming day?\u201d We picked Good Friday and the Saturday before Easter, and we brought in your kids.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014and grandkids.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u2014and grandkids. And then we went to work with what you had in mind for decorations. And folks, let me just tell you\u2014when Barbara plans a dinner party, she\u2019s not just thinking about the napkins and the centerpiece. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>8:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou had a little more in mind than just a few napkins and centerpieces.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Well, I wanted a few of the elements that I had pictured for a church-wide, all-day celebration. We got strings of lights\u2014not Christmas lights\u2014but they have small bulbs on them that are about an inch-and-a-half in diameter. We rented a barn that has a really big upstairs that was open, and clean, and available. We strung those lights all over that barn, and then we borrowed tables from a friend of mine who helped me execute this and pull this off. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> A lot of tables!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> And we put these tables, end to end, to make this really long, country table scene for 30 people; because we had 30 people to put around the table. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> We borrowed chairs; we did all kinds of things.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And you went to work cooking the ham and\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Oh, no! I didn\u2019t have to do that. That was another kindness from Bob Lepine. He said, \u201cI\u2019ll cater the food.\u201d I said, \u201c<em>Fabulous!\u201d<\/em>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> So we did get everybody together. You had everybody wear white. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> I had everybody wear white. You know, I grew up in an era when families\u2014women, in particular\u2014typically wore white on Easter Sunday. I never understood why\u2014it just never made sense to me. I thought, \u201cWell, that\u2019s kind of a silly tradition.\u201d But then, I started kind of digging into it and thinking it through. Biblically, wearing white represents what we\u2019re going to look like in heaven.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tEaster is our introduction into what heaven is going to be like. Jesus paved the way for us to go to heaven\u2014He ascended to the Father \/ He is seated at the right hand of God. Revelation tells us that we will be clothed in white linen. I thought, \u201cIf Easter is our entrance, so to speak\u2014it\u2019s a prelude of the wedding feast of the Lamb, and we will be wearing white linen\u2014then let\u2019s do that for Easter.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI asked my kids\u2014it was funny\u2014I sent an email to my kids and said: \u201cI would like for all of you to wear white. The guys can wear khaki pants and white shirts, or polos, or whatever.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOur son wrote back and said, \u201cIsn\u2019t that going to look like a little dated Christmas card picture, when everybody used to match?!\u201d [Laughter] I laughed and I said: \u201cYes; I know. I\u2019m not going to hold everybody to it like I did when you were little kids; but if you can, I would like for us to do it.\u201d I explained why\u2014that I wanted us to represent what we will look like, one day, in heaven. Everybody went, \u201cOh that makes sense\u201d; so they did.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> We had 12 adults and 18 grandchildren at the table. And, Bob, you mentioned it earlier\u2014or Barbara did\u2014but this is not the perfect family.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> No; we are not.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> We\u2019ve told a lot of stories that ought to have completely eroded any thought in the listener\u2019s mind of our family being perfect. We are a normal, regular family that has sibling rivalry\u2014we\u2019ve got all kinds of stuff\u2014but I\u2019ve got to tell you\u2014<em>this <\/em>was a glorious moment!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> It was.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Because they were the cleanest they\u2019ve ever looked in their lives. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Over the table was this track that Bob\u2019s video team had erected for the camera; so they could take a camera shot from one end of the table, where Dennis was seated, all the way down to the other end of the table. I don\u2019t know how many feet the tables were\u2014put together\u2014but it was a <em>long<\/em> length. The kids were all on their best behavior, because they were mesmerized by the cameras and all of the stuff that was happening around us. That helped us have a great event.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> But I\u2019ll tell you\u2014for the folks who want to go look at it, we\u2019ve got a link we\u2019ll tell you about in a minute. Our grandkids were typical grandkids\u2014they were peeking at the camera.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> They were!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> It was rolling back\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> While the prayer was being said, they were looking.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> That\u2019s exactly right!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> They were looking around; yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> They were cheating! So it\u2019s a normal family; but it did come close to, I think, going where Barbara wanted\u2014which is, \u201cLet\u2019s find a way to up the game on Easter Sunday \/ on Resurrection Sunday, where we celebrate the true meaning of what it meant for Christ to defeat death and grant us hope for life everlasting.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> We got the filming done that we needed, and then we took off and let you celebrate Easter as a family together.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes; yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> It went on for a couple of hours up there in the barn; didn\u2019t it?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> I think we were there until 9:00; weren\u2019t we?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> We were!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> I don\u2019t remember, but we did. We ate our meal, and we had really nice dessert options. The kids kind of just disappeared\u2014they went running, and shooting baskets, and all kinds of things that were around the outside of the barn. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tA couple of the older teens and all of the adults stayed around the table, after the dinner part was over. We all went around, as a group, and we read the stories on the Easter napkins that we have\u2014that are available from EverThineHome.com. It kind of reminded us, again, why we were celebrating. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd then, the kids all came in\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Before you move on\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Okay; sure.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014I just want to say\u2014because, Bob, you weren\u2019t there\u2014I wish that had been filmed; I really do.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Because you had the adults reading about what happened when the curtain was split\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u2014into two.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014from the top of the curtain to the bottom\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> \u2014to the bottom; yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014symbolizing God coming down\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014and giving us access to the Holy of Holies. I mean, there were just a number of moments\u2014because there are eight napkins that have eight little snapshots that are all around the resurrection\u2014but I think we walk by\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes; we do walk by.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> We don\u2019t have a moment to truly think about what that was like! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> That happened in history! That\u2019s a <em>real<\/em> moment\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014God stepped out and became a man, and He lived a perfect life; and then He went to the cross and He died.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes; yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And then, on Resurrection Sunday, He\u2019s alive!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> So are you planning, now, Part Two? [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Bob\u2014Bob!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Just wondering!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> That was such a good moment, Bob! You completely\u2014you\u2019re feeding my wife\u2019s appetite! [Laughter] Maybe there will be somebody listening to this, saying: \u201cYou know what? We\u2019ll rent the AT&amp;T Stadium in Dallas\/Fort Worth\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014for an Easter celebration, and we\u2019re going to bring Barbara Rainey in to decorate it.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Well, you never know!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> I\u2019m going to tell you, folks: \u201cIf you\u2019ve got the right person to do it, she could decorate the stadium; and we\u2019ll figure out how to preach the message.\u201d But I\u2019m going to tell you something\u2014it is really high time that families re-take this holiday for what it means.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> It is the gospel of Jesus Christ. It gives us hope, beyond the grave, of eternal life.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And this may not happen in a stadium\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Oh, no.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u2014but it could happen in tens of thousands of living rooms.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Oh! Living rooms\u2014backyards! You know, if you live in a neighborhood that\u2019s got a community gathering area\u2014it can be [anywhere], and it can be anything. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI mean, after we read the stories from the napkins, one of our daughters and our son said, \u201cCan I read some Scripture?\u201d She had her Bible, and she opened it up, and had something that she wanted to read. Our son pulled up his phone and found his verses and read his verses. Then we stood up. Some of the older grandkids came back at that time, and we gathered kind of in a circle. We decided we wanted to cheer \/ we wanted to toast\u2014we wanted to do something that was out of the ordinary. We gathered around in a circle. I don\u2019t remember exactly how this happened, but I remember we then ended up praying. I prayed; Samuel prayed; you [Dennis] prayed. I don\u2019t remember who else did, but we all\u2014most of us\u2014prayed out loud, thanking Jesus for what He had done for us.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>16:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThen, after we did that, we said: \u201cHip! Hip! Hooray!\u201d\u2014cheers \/ whatever\u2014high fives. We laughed; we hugged; and then we turned on music, because one of my dreams was that we would dance together. And we have <em>never <\/em>done this with our family\u2014we\u2019re not a family of dancers.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> They can blame it on me. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Well, there\u2019s\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> It\u2019s bad DNA! [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> The rhythm gene!\u2014you didn\u2019t get the rhythm gene; did you?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> No; he didn\u2019t,\u2014I will attest to that. He didn\u2019t get the rhythm gene. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut there\u2019s a verse in Psalm 149\u2014in fact, I actually lettered it and framed it and had it as a part of our decoration last year at our Easter celebration. Psalm 149 says: \u201cLet them praise His name with dancing, making melody to Him with tambourine and lyre.\u201d The next verse says: \u201cFor the Lord takes pleasure in His people.\u201d And I thought, \u201cI want us to <em>dance <\/em>before the Lord and give Him pleasure, that we are so grateful, and excited, and happy at this amazing gift!\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>17:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe turned on music and then all the little kids came back. It was so funny; because they were out there, just jumping up and down\u2014doing somersaults, the little ones. It wasn\u2019t beautiful dancing. [Laughter] It wasn\u2019t anything that anybody would have cared to watch\u2014it was actually quite silly, and not everybody danced. We turned all the chairs from the table around and kind of made a circle. It was fun to be able to do something out-of-the-box from what we typically do in church, to say, \u201cWe want to make a statement that this is worth being even foolish-looking to let Christ know how grateful we are for what He did for us.\u201d So that was how the evening ended.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> So we\u2019re going to let listeners have a sneak preview\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014not of the dancing!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> No.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> We didn\u2019t film that.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> I\u2019m sorry we didn\u2019t, in a way; but we\u2019ve saved you on that.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> This is how <em>The Art of Parenting<\/em> series ends. I\u2019m a little\u2014you know, this is kind of like showing the last scene in the movie\u2014right?\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u2014before anybody\u2019s seen the movie.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> But maybe it will be a teaser and they\u2019ll go, \u201cOh, I want to see the rest.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> I hope so!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> So there you go.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>18:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t[Audio Recording]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cIn the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.\u201d On Good Friday, the Light of the World was extinguished; and for a brief moment, hope looked like it was lost. It looked like Satan had won. But on Sunday\u2014on Resurrection Day\u2014everything changed forever! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhat if families started making much of Easter again? Theologian N.T. Wright says: \u201cEaster is about the wild delight of God\u2019s creative power. We should light every candle instead of just some.\u201d Is it any wonder, do you think, that people find it hard to believe in the resurrection of Jesus if we don\u2019t throw our hats in the air? This is our greatest festival. Take Christmas away, and you lose two chapters at the beginning of Matthew and Luke. Take Easter away, and you don\u2019t have a New Testament\u2014you don\u2019t have Christianity.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>19:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, with your family, with your friends, with your whole church\u2014prepare a feast \/ a party\u2014a dawn-to-dusk celebration filled with singing, and giving thanks, and rejoicing. Bring balloons, light candles, play music, dance with joy. Maybe end the day with fireworks; but above all, make Resurrection Day magnificent. Shout to the world: \u201cChrist is risen! Because of the cross, life is changed forever.\u201d May you and yours become <em>Easter people<\/em>, for whom the cross is <em>everything<\/em>. We should be, first of all, expressing our joy, and our gratitude, and our worship that God would do this for us; but secondly, we want people to know that we belong to the King of kings\u2014we belong to Jesus, and He\u2019s alive!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> This is <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em> for Tuesday, March 20<sup>th<\/sup>. Well, we\u2019ve got some ideas for you today. Stay with us.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>1:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd welcome to <em>FamilyLife Today<\/em>. Thanks for joining us on the Tuesday edition. I got to spend part of your Easter holiday with you last year. Do you remember?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> You did. I do remember.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> It was quite a day!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> It was.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis: <\/strong>Well, Bob, you actually\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> I was the instigator.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> You <em>were <\/em>the instigator. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> You were, but you actually helped a <em>dream<\/em> of Barbara\u2019s to come true. I just want to hold my head\u2014I confess to the listening audience\u2014yours truly, as Barbara\u2019s husband, who loves her dearly\u2014had not been able to execute on this. I just didn\u2019t have the faith that I could pull it off. We had a lot going on last Easter\u2014well, why don\u2019t you explain to the audience what you came to me and asked me to do?\u2014because I want all of you guys, who are listening to the broadcast\u2014picture your wife coming to you and asking for this. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>2:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tNow, I want you to tell them the truth, Barbara\u2014what you really asked for\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> I can do that. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014because it wasn\u2019t a small, little get-together you were talking about. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Well, I have, for the last couple of years, started thinking about Easter the following year, right after Easter in the present year. Two years ago, after Easter of 2016, I started thinking about Easter 2017. It was fresh on my mind, and I remember thinking\u2014one day, I woke up and I thought: \u201cOh, if I could do anything\u2014if money was not an objection \/ if time was not an objection\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Underline the word, \u201cmoney.\u201d [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> \u2014 \u201cif I could do anything I wanted to do\u2014I would create an amazing party to celebrate the resurrection.\u201d I was, again, reminded that we don\u2019t do enough to celebrate the victory over the cross\u2014that Jesus rose from the dead and has opened the way to heaven for us. We go to church, and we might dress a little differently; we might sing a few other songs, but we really don\u2019t do a whole lot, as believers. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>3:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI thought: \u201cI want to change that! I want to do something different.\u201d Sometime, around June, I started thinking, \u201cIf I could do anything that I wanted to do\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> That\u2019s a dangerous thought! \u201cIf I could do <em>anything\u2026\u201d <\/em>[Laughter] My wife is a creative\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u201cMoney is no object!\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> That\u2019s exactly right!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u201cTime is no object!\u201d\u2014yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Okay; so go on.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> What would it be?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> I wanted to have a church-wide celebration. I wanted to get our church to plan ahead. We rented a field that\u2014you know, obviously\u2014would be for anyone who wanted to come. But I imagined me stringing lights all over the place, having some music group from the church come and play music. I wanted to cater a meal. I wanted to have families come and bring their kids and have singing, and dancing, and fireworks at the end\u2014to have some kind of an amazing public demonstration of: \u201cThis is a group of believers, who are serious about the resurrection, and we want the world to know that this is a really big deal for us.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>4:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> I\u2019m surprised you didn\u2019t just throw in there, \u201cAnd let\u2019s do it in Jerusalem.\u201d [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Oh, I didn\u2019t even think about that!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> So she comes to you and says, \u201cHey, could we do this?\u201d\u2014is that how it happened?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> It did!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And I took a deep breath. I was listening; and I was going: \u201cGod bless you, Sweetheart! [Laughter] I love you. I\u2019ve tried to help you achieve every dream you\u2019ve had, and I would <em>love <\/em>to try to help you accomplish this; but I don\u2019t own a stadium and I\u2019m not a banker.\u201d\u00a0 [Laughter] \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> You know, now, what you ask. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> I know, I know; and I knew I didn\u2019t.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> I\u2019m enough of an executor\u2014and I\u2019m going\u2014I\u2019m starting to think, \u201cWhat would be the logistics here?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> See! You\u2019re enough of an executor, and I\u2019m just enough of a dreamer\u2014that I hadn\u2019t thought through the costs, or time, or, you know, all of that stuff.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> So, in the meantime, I came in to save the day.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes; so a couple of months later\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Now, wait!! [Laughter] Wait just a second! [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>5:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Actually, I came in with a completely different idea.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> You did.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> You really did; you really did.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> And I had given this idea to the Lord. After we had our little conversation, I said: \u201cOkay; God, I would love to do this\u2014You know I would. If it can happen, great!\u2014but I\u2019m willing to let it go too.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> I just thought it through. Now, here\u2019s the point\u2014I thought all of it through; and I thought, \u201cSweetheart, I would love to do this\u2014I really would; but to execute that, you really need a team of people\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014\u201cto pull this off.\u201d Easter occurs in the spring, when we\u2019re holding dozens of <em>Weekend to Remember<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup> marriage getaways all over the country, so I couldn\u2019t pull the FamilyLife<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> team aside. So I had to say, \u201cNo.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> So it really was a dream that died for Barbara.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And then, we sat down and started working on the video series that we\u2019re releasing, here, in a few weeks, called <em>The Art of Parenting<\/em><sup>\u2122<\/sup><em>.<\/em> We started mapping out: \u201cWhat are the parenting principles that we want to teach? What are the ideas that need to be communicated? \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>6:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u201cWhat will each session look like? Who are the people who are going to be the contributors to this session?\u201d I mean, we had\u2014it was a big project to put all of this together!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And it was a video project\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Right.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014okay? So, all of a sudden, Bob becomes the hero; and I\u2019m the goat!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Well, but\u2014yes; but he first came and asked you, \u201cCould I fly in your family and could we stage a Thanksgiving feast?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> The thought was that the conclusion of this series needs to paint a picture for folks that there\u2019s a pay-off in parenting.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And the pay-off is that your kids grow up, and they have grandkids, and the family becomes what your family has become.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014a<em> lot <\/em>of people! [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> We didn\u2019t want an idealized picture, but we did want an aspirational one.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> We wanted to say, \u201cYou know, parenting is hard work; and in the day to day, you\u2019re going, \u2018Man, is this really worth it?\u2019\u201d So we wanted something to say, \u201cIt\u2019s worth it.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> \u201cIt\u2019s worth it\u201d\u2014yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>7:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And so, I came and said\u2014knowing that Thanksgiving has always been a favorite holiday of yours\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> It has.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u2014I said: \u201cLet\u2019s get the kids here and we\u2019ll stage a mock Thanksgiving.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u201cWe\u2019ll just have the whole family, and we\u2019ll film your family coming home for Thanksgiving.\u201d And you said, \u201cNo.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> I said: \u201cDoes it matter if it\u2019s Thanksgiving? Is that important to the script?\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou said, \u201cWhy?\u201d And I said, \u201cCould we do Easter instead?\u201d [Laughter] And, kindly, Bob said: \u201cI don\u2019t know why not. We\u2019re going to film it in the spring.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> So there we were\u2014in fact, we looked at: \u201cWhat\u2019s the best time to do this? What\u2019s the best filming day?\u201d We picked Good Friday and the Saturday before Easter, and we brought in your kids.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014and grandkids.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u2014and grandkids. And then we went to work with what you had in mind for decorations. And folks, let me just tell you\u2014when Barbara plans a dinner party, she\u2019s not just thinking about the napkins and the centerpiece. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>8:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tYou had a little more in mind than just a few napkins and centerpieces.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Well, I wanted a few of the elements that I had pictured for a church-wide, all-day celebration. We got strings of lights\u2014not Christmas lights\u2014but they have small bulbs on them that are about an inch-and-a-half in diameter. We rented a barn that has a really big upstairs that was open, and clean, and available. We strung those lights all over that barn, and then we borrowed tables from a friend of mine who helped me execute this and pull this off. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> A lot of tables!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> And we put these tables, end to end, to make this really long, country table scene for 30 people; because we had 30 people to put around the table. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> We borrowed chairs; we did all kinds of things.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And you went to work cooking the ham and\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Oh, no! I didn\u2019t have to do that. That was another kindness from Bob Lepine. He said, \u201cI\u2019ll cater the food.\u201d I said, \u201c<em>Fabulous!\u201d<\/em>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>9:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> So we did get everybody together. You had everybody wear white. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> I had everybody wear white. You know, I grew up in an era when families\u2014women, in particular\u2014typically wore white on Easter Sunday. I never understood why\u2014it just never made sense to me. I thought, \u201cWell, that\u2019s kind of a silly tradition.\u201d But then, I started kind of digging into it and thinking it through. Biblically, wearing white represents what we\u2019re going to look like in heaven.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tEaster is our introduction into what heaven is going to be like. Jesus paved the way for us to go to heaven\u2014He ascended to the Father \/ He is seated at the right hand of God. Revelation tells us that we will be clothed in white linen. I thought, \u201cIf Easter is our entrance, so to speak\u2014it\u2019s a prelude of the wedding feast of the Lamb, and we will be wearing white linen\u2014then let\u2019s do that for Easter.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI asked my kids\u2014it was funny\u2014I sent an email to my kids and said: \u201cI would like for all of you to wear white. The guys can wear khaki pants and white shirts, or polos, or whatever.\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>10:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tOur son wrote back and said, \u201cIsn\u2019t that going to look like a little dated Christmas card picture, when everybody used to match?!\u201d [Laughter] I laughed and I said: \u201cYes; I know. I\u2019m not going to hold everybody to it like I did when you were little kids; but if you can, I would like for us to do it.\u201d I explained why\u2014that I wanted us to represent what we will look like, one day, in heaven. Everybody went, \u201cOh that makes sense\u201d; so they did.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> We had 12 adults and 18 grandchildren at the table. And, Bob, you mentioned it earlier\u2014or Barbara did\u2014but this is not the perfect family.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> No; we are not.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> We\u2019ve told a lot of stories that ought to have completely eroded any thought in the listener\u2019s mind of our family being perfect. We are a normal, regular family that has sibling rivalry\u2014we\u2019ve got all kinds of stuff\u2014but I\u2019ve got to tell you\u2014<em>this <\/em>was a glorious moment!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> It was.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Because they were the cleanest they\u2019ve ever looked in their lives. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>11:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Over the table was this track that Bob\u2019s video team had erected for the camera; so they could take a camera shot from one end of the table, where Dennis was seated, all the way down to the other end of the table. I don\u2019t know how many feet the tables were\u2014put together\u2014but it was a <em>long<\/em> length. The kids were all on their best behavior, because they were mesmerized by the cameras and all of the stuff that was happening around us. That helped us have a great event.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> But I\u2019ll tell you\u2014for the folks who want to go look at it, we\u2019ve got a link we\u2019ll tell you about in a minute. Our grandkids were typical grandkids\u2014they were peeking at the camera.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> They were!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> It was rolling back\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> While the prayer was being said, they were looking.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> That\u2019s exactly right!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> They were looking around; yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> They were cheating! So it\u2019s a normal family; but it did come close to, I think, going where Barbara wanted\u2014which is, \u201cLet\u2019s find a way to up the game on Easter Sunday \/ on Resurrection Sunday, where we celebrate the true meaning of what it meant for Christ to defeat death and grant us hope for life everlasting.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>12:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> We got the filming done that we needed, and then we took off and let you celebrate Easter as a family together.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes; yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> It went on for a couple of hours up there in the barn; didn\u2019t it?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> I think we were there until 9:00; weren\u2019t we?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> We were!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> I don\u2019t remember, but we did. We ate our meal, and we had really nice dessert options. The kids kind of just disappeared\u2014they went running, and shooting baskets, and all kinds of things that were around the outside of the barn. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tA couple of the older teens and all of the adults stayed around the table, after the dinner part was over. We all went around, as a group, and we read the stories on the Easter napkins that we have\u2014that are available from EverThineHome.com. It kind of reminded us, again, why we were celebrating. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tAnd then, the kids all came in\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Before you move on\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Okay; sure.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014I just want to say\u2014because, Bob, you weren\u2019t there\u2014I wish that had been filmed; I really do.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Because you had the adults reading about what happened when the curtain was split\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u2014into two.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014from the top of the curtain to the bottom\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> \u2014to the bottom; yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014symbolizing God coming down\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014and giving us access to the Holy of Holies. I mean, there were just a number of moments\u2014because there are eight napkins that have eight little snapshots that are all around the resurrection\u2014but I think we walk by\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes; we do walk by.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> We don\u2019t have a moment to truly think about what that was like! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> That happened in history! That\u2019s a <em>real<\/em> moment\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>14:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\u2014God stepped out and became a man, and He lived a perfect life; and then He went to the cross and He died.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes; yes. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> And then, on Resurrection Sunday, He\u2019s alive!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> So are you planning, now, Part Two? [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> Bob\u2014Bob!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Just wondering!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> That was such a good moment, Bob! You completely\u2014you\u2019re feeding my wife\u2019s appetite! [Laughter] Maybe there will be somebody listening to this, saying: \u201cYou know what? We\u2019ll rent the AT&amp;T Stadium in Dallas\/Fort Worth\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> Yes?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014for an Easter celebration, and we\u2019re going to bring Barbara Rainey in to decorate it.\u201d\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Well, you never know!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> I\u2019m going to tell you, folks: \u201cIf you\u2019ve got the right person to do it, she could decorate the stadium; and we\u2019ll figure out how to preach the message.\u201d But I\u2019m going to tell you something\u2014it is really high time that families re-take this holiday for what it means.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Yes.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> It is the gospel of Jesus Christ. It gives us hope, beyond the grave, of eternal life.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> And this may not happen in a stadium\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Oh, no.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>15:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> \u2014but it could happen in tens of thousands of living rooms.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Oh! Living rooms\u2014backyards! You know, if you live in a neighborhood that\u2019s got a community gathering area\u2014it can be [anywhere], and it can be anything. \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tI mean, after we read the stories from the napkins, one of our daughters and our son said, \u201cCan I read some Scripture?\u201d She had her Bible, and she opened it up, and had something that she wanted to read. Our son pulled up his phone and found his verses and read his verses. Then we stood up. Some of the older grandkids came back at that time, and we gathered kind of in a circle. We decided we wanted to cheer \/ we wanted to toast\u2014we wanted to do something that was out of the ordinary. We gathered around in a circle. I don\u2019t remember exactly how this happened, but I remember we then ended up praying. I prayed; Samuel prayed; you [Dennis] prayed. I don\u2019t remember who else did, but we all\u2014most of us\u2014prayed out loud, thanking Jesus for what He had done for us.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>16:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tThen, after we did that, we said: \u201cHip! Hip! Hooray!\u201d\u2014cheers \/ whatever\u2014high fives. We laughed; we hugged; and then we turned on music, because one of my dreams was that we would dance together. And we have <em>never <\/em>done this with our family\u2014we\u2019re not a family of dancers.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> They can blame it on me. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> Well, there\u2019s\u2014 \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> It\u2019s bad DNA! [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> The rhythm gene!\u2014you didn\u2019t get the rhythm gene; did you?\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> No; he didn\u2019t,\u2014I will attest to that. He didn\u2019t get the rhythm gene. [Laughter]\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tBut there\u2019s a verse in Psalm 149\u2014in fact, I actually lettered it and framed it and had it as a part of our decoration last year at our Easter celebration. Psalm 149 says: \u201cLet them praise His name with dancing, making melody to Him with tambourine and lyre.\u201d The next verse says: \u201cFor the Lord takes pleasure in His people.\u201d And I thought, \u201cI want us to <em>dance <\/em>before the Lord and give Him pleasure, that we are so grateful, and excited, and happy at this amazing gift!\u201d \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>17:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWe turned on music and then all the little kids came back. It was so funny; because they were out there, just jumping up and down\u2014doing somersaults, the little ones. It wasn\u2019t beautiful dancing. [Laughter] It wasn\u2019t anything that anybody would have cared to watch\u2014it was actually quite silly, and not everybody danced. We turned all the chairs from the table around and kind of made a circle. It was fun to be able to do something out-of-the-box from what we typically do in church, to say, \u201cWe want to make a statement that this is worth being even foolish-looking to let Christ know how grateful we are for what He did for us.\u201d So that was how the evening ended.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> So we\u2019re going to let listeners have a sneak preview\u2014\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> \u2014not of the dancing!\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> No.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Barbara:<\/strong> We didn\u2019t film that.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Dennis:<\/strong> I\u2019m sorry we didn\u2019t, in a way; but we\u2019ve saved you on that.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Bob:<\/strong> This is how <em>The Art of Parenting<\/em> series ends. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.\u201d On Good Friday, the Light of the World was extinguished; and for a brief moment, hope looked like it was lost. It looked like Satan had won. But on Sunday\u2014on Resurrection Day\u2014everything changed forever! \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tWhat if families started making much of Easter again? Theologian N.T. Wright says: \u201cEaster is about the wild delight of God\u2019s creative power. We should light every candle instead of just some.\u201d Is it any wonder, do you think, that people find it hard to believe in the resurrection of Jesus if we don\u2019t throw our hats in the air? This is our greatest festival. Take Christmas away, and you lose two chapters at the beginning of Matthew and Luke. Take Easter away, and you don\u2019t have a New Testament\u2014you don\u2019t have Christianity.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t<strong>19:00<\/strong>\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\tSo, with your family, with your friends, with your whole church\u2014prepare a feast \/ a party\u2014a dawn-to-dusk celebration filled with singing, and giving thanks, and rejoicing. Bring balloons, light candles, play music, dance with joy. Maybe end the day with fireworks; but above all, make Resurrection Day magnificent. Shout to the world: \u201cChrist is risen! Because of the cross, life is changed forever.\u201d May you and yours become <em>Easter people<\/em>, for whom the cross is <em>everything<\/em>.
