A promise is a powerful thing. Research professor Scott Stanley, talks about the transforming power of commitment. He also emphasizes that a couple’s ability to work through conflict together is determinative of a couple’s success. But commitment, he says, must be the foundation. Adam and Eve were naked and unashamed, and that safety and security is what all couples long for. To achieve that, husbands and wives must be committed to God first, then to each other.
